Front camera on iPhone 5s how many pixels. The number of megapixels of the iPhone's front camera. The procedure for payment by electronic money, bank card, mobile account

Part 2: test the screen, video playback, camera and summarize

In the first part of the article, we covered most of the aspects of the Apple iPhone 5s, leaving the screen, video playback and photo capabilities outside the brackets, so we will pay more attention to them in the second part of the article. If you have not read the first part, we advise you to start with it and then return to this text.

Screen

The smartphone screen is covered with a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface and, judging by the reflection of bright light sources in it, it has a very effective anti-glare filter, surpassing the Google Nexus 7 screen filter in reducing the reflection brightness. Doubling (and even tripling) of reflected objects is present to some extent, but the shadows of the objects are very weak; this indicates that there is no air gap between the outer glass and the matrix surface. On the outer surface of the screen there is a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating (effective, but still slightly worse than in the case of the Google Nexus 7), so fingerprints do not appear as quickly as in the case of ordinary glass, but are removed more easily.

With manual brightness control, its maximum value was about 520 cd / m², and the minimum was 5 cd / m². As a result, at maximum brightness, even in bright daylight, the screen will retain sufficient readability, and in complete darkness, the brightness can be lowered to a comfortable level. There is an automatic adjustment of the backlight brightness by the light sensor (it is located to the left of the front camera). In automatic mode, when the ambient light conditions change, the screen brightness both increases and decreases. In complete darkness, in automatic mode, the brightness decreases to 5 cd / m2 (this is too low), in an office illuminated with artificial light, it is set at 200-280 cd / m2 with an increase from the minimum (acceptable) and 500 cd / m2 (which is too much a lot) with a decrease from the maximum, and in a brightly lit environment (corresponds to lighting on a clear day outdoors, but without direct sunlight) increases to a maximum, up to 520 cd / m². As a result, this function does not work quite adequately: in the dark it underestimates the brightness too much, and when switching to medium illumination levels, the hysteresis is too large. At low brightness, there is virtually no backlight modulation, so it is impossible to visually see the screen flickering.

The iPhone 5s has an IPS-type matrix. The micrograph demonstrates the subpixel structure typical for IPS - if you look closely, you can see the subpixel division by the control electrodes into narrow "beds" characteristic of IPS:

The dark spots in the next photo (at lower magnification) are dust that has settled somewhere between the layers of the screen.

This is far from the first screen with glued layers, but the first in which we found so much dust. Of course, this dirt cannot be seen with the naked eye, and in fact it does not deteriorate the properties of the screen, but its presence indirectly indicates an insufficiently high production culture at the enterprise that manufactures screens for this smartphone.

The screen has very good viewing angles with no tint inversion and no significant color shift, even with large gaze deviations from perpendicular to the screen. When deviated along the diagonal, the black field lightens very little and, depending on the direction of deviation, acquires a red-violet or bluish tint. From a perpendicular view, the black field uniformity is good. The contrast is high - about 960: 1. The gamma curve plotted at 32 points did not reveal any blockage in highlights or shadows, and the exponent of the approximating power function is 2.19, which is practically equal to the standard value of 2.2, while the real gamma curve coincides with the power dependence:

The response time for the transition black-white-black is 28 ms (15 ms on + 13 ms off), the transition between gray tones of 25% and 75% (by numerical value of color) takes 41.5 ms in total. The color gamut is sRGB:

The spectra show that the matrix light filters mix the components together to a moderate extent, and as a result, visually the colors have a natural saturation:

The balance of shades on the gray scale is good, since the color temperature is slightly higher than the standard 6500 K and its variation is very small, and the deviation from the black body spectrum (delta E) is significantly less than 10, which is considered a good indicator for a consumer device. (The dark areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since the color balance there is not very important, and the error in measuring the color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

In terms of its characteristics, the screen deserves a very high rating. We especially note the high brightness, stable and deep black color, very good color rendering. Compared to the Apple iPhone 5, you will notice that the new product has a slightly brighter screen and its color rendition is slightly more accurate - however, these differences are not so fundamental as to assert that there is a significant difference between the screens of these devices.

Playing video files

To test the display of video files on the device screen, we used a set of test files with an arrow and a rectangle moving one division per frame (see "Testing methods for video playback and display devices. Version 1 (for mobile devices)"). Screenshots with a shutter speed of 1 s helped to determine the nature of the frame output of video files with various parameters: the resolution varied (1280 by 720 (720p) and 1920 by 1080 (1080p) pixels) and the frame rate (24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 frames / from). In our tests, we used a standard video player launched from a browser. There is no need to tabulate the test results, as they are excellent: there are no frame drops, intervals between frames (or groups of frames) alternate evenly. The refresh rate of the screen appears to be 60 Hz. Note that, unlike devices (phones and tablets) on Android, we have never observed a failure in frame rotation on the Apple iPhone 5s screen. The brightness range displayed on the screen corresponds to an extended range (that is, the range 0-255) - in the shadows and highlights, all gradations of shades are distinguished. Most video files are encoded in the video brightness range of 16-235, so the extended range for showing movies is harmful, but the Apple player is somehow able to correctly determine the type of encoding, so all the gradations of shades are displayed on the screen anyway, and black is real black and white is white. The only thing that this smartphone lacks is the ability to display 720p video one-to-one, without scaling. However, given the physical dimensions of the screen, this point is not of fundamental importance.

Camera

iPhone 5s has two cameras - a front one with a resolution of 1.2 megapixels and a rear one with a resolution of 8 megapixels. Traditionally, you cannot change the image resolution here, it will always be 3264 × 2448 pixels. The exception is the mode in which the camera takes a square image with a resolution of 2448 × 2448 pixels. Below are examples of images taken with the rear camera in normal mode at 8MP.

Sharpness is good enough on all shots. In the background, the foliage merges, but still retains a decent look.

The grass and foliage are well done for the 8MP.

A smooth drop in sharpness to distant shots is noticeable, but the camera stretches them too.

The exposure is well chosen. Noise in the dark area is almost invisible.

Not a bad macro shot if you know which area is in focus.

On the flower, you can see areas that the program was unable to process correctly.

But sometimes you can get good results.

The image sharpness is generally good enough. Even in dark areas, it is practically not spoiled by noise. It's nice that the foliage in the background looks soft and represents exactly foliage, and not sharp, but incomprehensible pieces. And the camera has no problems with exposure in auto mode.

Focusing in macro photography is often wrong, making it difficult to capture the desired detail. It takes quite a long time to look for the desired distance to the object, especially since the minimum focusing distance of the camera is rather big.

HDR shots show not only an extended dynamic range, but also good sharpness, which is very valuable in this case. In HDR shooting, the camera takes two shots with slight exposure compensation to both sides. The compensation is small enough that it is not possible to immediately highlight an image with a high dynamic range.

Laboratory test

Laboratory lighting ("1"). The stand worked perfectly, without any complaints.

Lighting ½. With the deterioration of lighting, the result is almost as good.

Lighting ¼. Further deterioration of the lighting gave rise to noises, which are very gently processed by the noise reduction.

Lighting ¼, flash. The flash practically brings back laboratory lighting conditions.

Lighting 0. With almost no light, the camera can no longer cope. Nevertheless, you can get some idea of \u200b\u200bthe subject.

Lighting 0, flash. And even in this situation, the flash works perfectly.

Flash operation raises no objections. When using a flash, the camera, as expected, shortens the shutter speed and lowers the light sensitivity, due to which it wins quite well in resolution.

It is clearly seen that in any light, the flash allows you to achieve almost the same resolution and sharpness as in laboratory light.

When there is no light, the flash turns on in focusing light mode. In these conditions, the camera takes a long time to focus, but the result is worth it. In addition, one cannot fail to note in the flash a successful tandem of "cold" and "warm" diodes, which allow getting close to natural colors even in poor conditions.

According to the results of shooting the stand, the camera proved to be very worthy against the background of other smartphones. Despite the smaller 1 / 3.2 ″ sensor and not the highest resolution, the graph shows that the iPhone 5s camera is one of the best. And this is confirmed not only by numbers. She manages to work very smoothly at high sensitivity values \u200b\u200bthanks to a reasonable noise reduction. The result of its work resembles the work of the color noise suppression function in RAW-editors, when color noise turns gray, and in this form is almost invisible. The camera sharpening is barely noticeable - even if you know where to look.

Panoramas

In addition to the already familiar Auto and HDR modes, with the release of iOS 7, a panoramic shooting mode appeared in the camera. However, the panorama can only be shot in one position - swipe from left to right, holding the smartphone vertically. The camera manages to get quite good and sharp panoramas with an even exposure.

However, there are also failures.

Smudge in the background, white sky and black indentations at the bottom are the result of poor processing. Of course, part of the problem here is the inaccuracy of the photographer, but the program did its job in bad faith.

And yet I would like to note that the camera works well with panoramas. On the other hand, this is no longer surprising. But the limitation in the direction of the wiring and the location of the smartphone, of course, is a little frustrating.

Comparison with iPhone 5

Of course, we couldn't help but compare the iPhone 5s' camera to that of its predecessor.

As you can see from the above pictures, the cameras of the iPhone 5 and 5s are practically the same.

Video

The rear camera can shoot 1080p @ 30 fps and 720p @ 120 fps videos.

It should be noted that 720p @ 120 fps video, referred to in the smartphone as the "Slow" mode, is slow motion. However, the deceleration (120 fps → 30 fps) is correctly reproduced only by the smartphone itself, and on the computer the video is played only as a video at 120 frames per second. Apparently, the user is asked to personally slow down the video on the computer four times (this can be done in most players while watching).

Perhaps, one cannot say that the camera is perfect. You can't even call her the best. However, in itself, it has many advantages and practically does not have significant disadvantages. So the owners of the iPhone 5s will surely be glad of such a pleasant moment in the new smartphone, and the owners of the iPhone 5, as it turns out, can already use it if they switched to iOS 7.

conclusions

Apple released a smartphone that cannot be called revolutionary, however, firstly, it is still a very high-quality product, and secondly, it has several interesting features that may well be developed in future devices of both Apple and competing companies.

First of all, it is a fingerprint sensor. It is a good goal to save the user from having to enter the password every time and make it physically impossible for strangers to use his smartphone. After all, it's no secret that many people are too lazy to come up with and remember complex passwords, and device security suffers. Again, the fingerprint reader can be used for many other tasks as well: for example, tablets would benefit from different levels of access to apps, sites and content for different family members. While this is a matter of the future, but, obviously, the very near future.

The second promising innovation is a 64-bit processor with a new instruction set. Tests have shown that with the same frequency and number of cores, the 64-bit Apple A7 is very much (two or more times) superior to the Apple A6, that is, the architecture is very efficient. But this superiority is not yet enough to be the undisputed leader in the market: NVIDIA Tegra 4 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 take the frequency and number of cores, demonstrating in the benchmarks no less performance than the Apple A7. Now the main intrigue is this: does Apple have a trump card up its sleeve, that is, will the company be able to release in the near future a version of Apple A7 for the new iPad tablets, but with four cores and a frequency of around 2 GHz, or are there some technical complexity, and the performance of the A7 in the iPhone 5s is still the maximum that Apple engineers are capable of at this stage.

As for the camera and screen, here the progress compared to the previous version of the iPhone is minimal (and in the case of the screen, it is completely absent), but this does not prevent them from remaining very worthy solutions, which are taken not by record technical characteristics, but by the quality of all parameters and excellent adaptability to the real specific tasks of the user.

Now about the cost. iPhone 5s has not yet been officially released in Russia. Most likely, at the start of sales, its price will be similar to the current price of iPhone 5. Particularly impatient gadget lovers can, of course, already today purchase a smartphone from the "gray" supplies. True, in addition to the traditionally overpriced price (from one and a half times - for black and white models; up to three times - for golden ones), one must be prepared for the fact that 4G (LTE) will not work, although, judging by the characteristics, Russian LTE bands are supported in some modifications of the iPhone 5s. Most likely, Apple will introduce support for Russian LTE networks by the time the official sales start, but it is not a fact that it will automatically appear in the "gray" devices purchased in other countries.

No wonder many people are interested in how many megapixels are the main and front cameras on the iPhone. It’s probably no secret that it is on the iPhone camera that millions of photos are taken every day around the world.

According to statistics, it has already been proven that the iPhone is the most popular device in the world for photographing. This is not surprising, because today the iPhone camera will be better than some point-and-shoot cameras.

The number of megapixels on all released iPhones

For all the time, twelve phone models have already been released and I would like to consider both the front and rear cameras on iPhones in pairs. Then you will see everything for yourself.

Camera on iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS

The very first Apple phones were not very famous for the camera and the quality was not very good. This is not surprising, because then it was only 2007 and only Sony Ericsson could boast of cameras.

Moreover, autofocus appeared only in the third generation, that is, in the 3GS. It was just cool then and the quality of the photos improved a lot.

  • 2G: 2MP rear camera;
  • 3G: 2MP rear camera;
  • 3Gs: 3MP rear camera;

According to the list, you can observe that there was no question of any front camera. The word selfie hasn't been coined yet and you wouldn't see people photographing themselves and food.

Camera on iPhone 4, 4S

The next two phones made an incredible leap and now millions of photos will be taken on the cameras of these two phones.

These two phones already have front-facing cameras. The main cameras got flashes, and the iPhone 4s even got face recognition.

  • 4: 5MP rear camera, VGA front (0.3MP);
  • 4S: 8MP rear camera, VGA front (0.3MP).

The photos were not very good at night and the flash is unlikely to help here. But during the day, the iPhone 4s takes very impressive photos, even today.

Camera on iPhone 5, 5S, 5C

In the next generation, there were no particular jerks in pixels and the phone acquired a very similar pitchfork to the previous generation, only with a larger screen.

Selfies are starting to appear, as Instagram appears in 2010. No wonder these models have improved the front camera.

  • 5: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
  • 5S: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
  • 5C: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera.

The iPhone 5S has a dual flash that should improve night photography. In general, the quality of photos does not change much compared to the previous generation.

Camera on iPhone 6, 6S, 6 PLUS, 6S PLUS

After all, there comes a time when Apple starts making shovels. It seems like cameras should instantly get more megapixels, but that only happens in the 6S generation.

In iPhone 6, the camera has not changed much, everything is about the same as in 5s. But the big screen begins to show its advantages and it is much more fun and convenient to view photos.

  • 6, 6 PLUS: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
  • 6S, 6S PLUS: 12MP rear camera, 5MP front camera.

Many years later, the number of megapixels changes only in the iPhone 6S. Finally, you can take even better selfies with a kind of flash.

Camera on iPhone SE, 7, 7 PLUS

So, the next update of the iPhone pleased us with cameras and now in the younger version we have a stabilizer, and in the older version now, instead of one, two cameras.

A lot of chips have appeared that help to take clearer photos in the dark. The photographs are simply amazing.

  • SE: 12MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
  • 7: 12MP rear camera, 7MP front camera;
  • 7 PLUS: 12MP dual rear cameras, 7MP front.

As a bonus, I would like to mention the previously released iPhone SE in the update. This is an updated 5S with 6S stuffing, if anyone has not heard. His cameras are also on this list.

Camera on iPhone X, 8, 8 PLUS

These smartphones again delight us with a very high quality of shooting. If you look at the number of megapixels, then the situation is the same as last year.

However, a lot of work has been done and now we have a leader. It is a dozen and its telephoto lens aperture is now ƒ / 2.4. For comparison, the 7 and 8 Plus have ƒ / 2.4.

  • X: rear camera - dual, 12 MP with wide-angle and telephoto, front - 7 MP;
  • 8: 12MP rear camera, 7MP front camera;
  • 8 PLUS: rear camera - dual, 12 MP with wide-angle and telephoto lens, front 7 MP.

Perhaps the most striking update is the ability to record 4K on all models. The younger model and the second camera in the X are now with stabilization.

Outcome

Now you know what cameras are in all generations of Apple smartphones. The quality of the cameras is very excellent and in the future, we will not need ordinary cameras at all, except for professional shooting.

Think back to last year, when Apple unveiled the iPhone 5. The first iPhone with a larger display diagonal of up to 4 ″, and at the same time, it was the return of the classic iPhone due to the solid aluminum body. Everything seems to be fine, what questions could there be to him? And they were, and appeared immediately after unboxing. First of all, I was surprised by the quality of the processing of the new aluminum case, all the models that I came across within a few weeks from the start of sales seemed to be used. There were scratches and chips on the ends of the white model, and the black one lost its presentable appearance after several weeks of use.

After some time, the technological process, due to which the body of the white model suffered, was corrected and the chips disappeared. The painting of the black model was also improved, but, nevertheless, it was not possible to bring it to an ideal state - over time, the paint peeled off from the ends. For comparison, as I wrote in, after 9 months it looks worse than the iPhone 4s, which I used two years ago and now he lives with a friend. It shouldn't be that way and Apple obviously understands this.

The case is not the only problem of the "five". In I talked about a bad speaker, about a deteriorating camera, about a marriage with the lock key, about dust on the camera matrix, which, as it turned out, not one of me gets there. What we have? Exactly the same as in the case of the iPhone 4 - a completely new model, but with a whole bunch of so-called children's ailments. Remember the iPhone 4s - in it all the diseases of the "four" were fixed and this was my first personal iPhone. Having used the iPhone 5 for a long time, I continued to consider the 4s to be the best iPhone. And my opinion changed only now - when I got acquainted with the new iPhone 5s.

Now I know for sure that every iPhone with an additional letter "s" is not an intermediate model, but a refined and completely modified previous one. In the new product, we fixed almost everything that I could find fault with. I'll start talking about my impressions of using 5s.

The design of the model has remained the same, only the flash has undergone changes, now it is double, and the Home button. But the main thing that has changed is the color of the black model. Apparently, the paint cannot but peel off the edges, therefore, they decided to refuse it. Now there is no completely black model, instead - Space Gray. The aluminum body itself, namely the side edges and the back wall, are now not painted over, the part is just gray. The front and back panels remain black. Now there is a kind of "wet asphalt" - my favorite color in cars. For the first time, I will buy myself not a white phone, but a gray one, because it looks unrealistically cool.

The white model has remained unchanged and, perhaps, this also influenced my choice, for the year the white one got fed up. One more color was added - gold, whatever it is called. Despite the fact that it was dismantled the fastest, I am not at all thrilled with it. I think this color was delivered in smaller quantities, so it was taken apart faster.

Touch ID

Now let's move on to the visual differences, the main thing is the Home key. This is the thing that distinguishes the iPhone 5s in both hardware and software. Back in the 4th or 5th beta of iOS 7, support for a fingerprint scanner was discovered, then it became clear what the emphasis would be. The scanner is built into the Home key, which is why there is no picture on it now. Also, the button has become flat and is now made of sapphire crystal so that no scratches appear on it.

After the presentation, I was interested in how adequately this scanner would work, and now, having used a smartphone for the weekend, I give myself an answer - very adequately. You can turn off the scanner in the settings, but I didn't have such a desire. The fact is that I clearly understand why I need such security. I have several applications on my iPhone that I password-protected because I don't want even friends to see, for example, my budget. Previously, I used Coin Keeper without a password, recently I decided to install it and immediately noticed - even entering 4 digits significantly burdens the process. Now I will unlock both Evernote and Coin Keeper, because no one will unlock my smartphone. Yes, earlier you could also set an unlock password, but, as I said, this complicates the constant use of the smartphone too much, and I unlock it very often.

Of course, someone does not need to block the smartphone, but you must admit that everybody is tired of entering a password when installing each new application. Especially since Apple introduced new password requirements. Now you can install applications using your fingerprint. This is cool, no one will buy anything for you, but you don't need to bother with entering a complex password. Now I really expect a similar scanner to appear on the iPad and MacBook.

You can set up a fingerprint the very first time you turn on the smartphone, later this is done in the Basic menu - Scanner and fingerprint. Here you need to enter a password, after which you can add / remove a fingerprint. There are five slots for fingerprints in total, and you can add multiple fingers to one slot. For example, I added my entire right hand to one slot and all fingers are recognized. Moreover, the work of the scanner is such that it recognizes touch in any position, even if you take the smartphone upside down. In one slot, by the way, I saved my nose. Works. I think other parts of the body will work too.

We recently filmed the unboxing of an iPhone 5s and in this video showed in detail how Touch ID works:

Camera

But for me the main innovation was not the sensor, I was looking forward to the new camera most of all. Moreover, exactly what she became. I have never been a supporter of a large number of MPs, because their quantity does not affect quality. For detail - yes, but only with an increase in quality, and therefore with an increase in the sensor. In this case, the camera has been improved, and quite seriously. And, what is most important - not software, but physically. The sensor size was increased by 15%, while leaving 8 MP, and the aperture ratio was increased from 2.4 to 2.2. This means that each pixel has become larger and is able to receive more light, and even an aperture of 2.2.

In practice, this means better shooting in low light, again, not stretched out by software, a more "adult" depth of field, and this is clearly visible when compared with the iPhone 5 in similar images, and, attention, the absence of purple highlights when shooting with side light ... It was unrealistic to get in the way when I wanted to get glare, but even under normal conditions such glare appeared quite often.

Thanks to the more powerful A7 processor and the ISP chip responsible for processing photos, the camera has become very fast-firing. Pressing the shutter button, the camera starts literally scribbling pictures. After that, you can choose the best one or save them all.

Examples of photos taken with the main camera. Left - iPhone 5s, right - iPhone 5

In addition, a double flash appeared. The bottom diode is yellow and is designed to make skin tones more natural when you are photographing with flash. But that's not all, a very nice innovation is shooting video at 120 fps at 720p. And honest 120 fps, the recording frequency does not drop even in a dark room. After recording a video in this format, right during viewing, you can choose the moment where it will slow down. The effect is simply unreal, now I understand that the skater, the video with which was shown during the presentation, was indeed filmed on the iPhone 5s. Again, I am glad that this is not a function for the sake of function, this is something that will be used. To record at 120 fps, go to the leftmost camera window.

Sample video SloMo

The front-facing camera has also gotten better with a backlight sensor, so taking photos with the front-facing camera in low light will also be better. But here the difference is much less noticeable than in the case of the main camera.

Examples of photos taken with the front camera. Left - iPhone 5s, right - iPhone 5

I also waited for the increased capacity of the battery. The new product has a battery capacity of 1570 mAh, which is 170 more than in its predecessor. This affected the battery life, but you have to understand, I'm comparing it with the iPhone 5, which is almost a year old. It would be more correct to compare the autonomy of the two models just printed, but I have no such possibility.

And the last thing I was waiting for was the return of the vibration alert from the iPhone 4s. That did not happen.

Performance

Of course, the new product has a new processor - 64-bit A7, new graphics and new RAM. At the same time, the number of cores remained the same - two, as well as the amount of RAM - 1 GB. In the synthetic test GeekBench 3, the performance gain is twofold.

We did a small comparison of the performance of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5 and filmed a video about this:

As you can see, the difference is far from what we saw a year ago, when the iPhone 4s lost a lot to the top five in launching games, as well as in multitasking. Performance in the iPhone 5s today is not something to consider a change for.

At the moment, only standard applications and the game Infinity Blade 3 support 64-bit, but Apple promises a "painless" transition to the new architecture and other developers. How this will affect users is not yet clear to me.

One thing is obvious - the difference will be visible only a little later. Then we will understand the need for another node in the new iPhone - the M7 coprocessor, which combines a gyroscope, an accelerometer and an electronic compass. It should help save battery power when navigating, as well as in applications that track the position of the smartphone. I really hope that substitutes for all kinds of health bracelets will start to appear.

As I said, this is not a review in the form in which you are used to seeing it on the ceddr, and I will not dwell on what you could read in. The arrangement of elements of the two smartphones has not changed, the display also remains the same. Speaking about the latter, I cannot say that it is outdated. Aside from the ppi race, the iPhone 5s has a very high quality 4 ″ display.

IPhone 5s Specifications

  • Dimensions: 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6mm.
  • Weight: 112 g.
  • Operating system: iOS 7.
  • Processor: dual core, Apple A7, 1.7 GHz
  • Display: IPS, 4.0 ″, 1136 × 640 pixels, 326 ppi
  • Memory: 16, 32, 64 GB.
  • RAM: 1 GB.

  • Wireless technologies: Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0.
  • Interface connectors: 3.5mm headphone jack, Lightning.
  • Battery: Li-Pol 1570 mAh battery.

Summing up a small summary of all of the above, I note: Apple has exceeded my expectations. Even though I'm not 100% happy with the updated iOS design, the smartphone itself turned out to be great. There are no controversial features in it, about which one would think that they will disappear after a couple of generations as unnecessary. I think both the scanner and the M7 will be further developed by Apple, moreover, similar solutions will soon be seen in devices from other manufacturers.

Personally, I liked the novelty, first of all, the new camera. I will not tell you why this is so important to me, if you follow the cedar, you yourself should know. We were also very pleased with the scanner and the new color - gray. This year I do not hesitate in the least if I need to update, definitely - yes.

I have compiled a list of all phones and now we will find out how many megapixels are both the front and main camera on your iPhone.

  • 4: 5MP rear camera, VGA front (0.3MP);
  • 4S: 8MP rear camera, VGA front (0.3MP).

The photos were not very good at night and the flash is unlikely to help here. But during the day, the iPhone 4s takes very impressive photos, even today.

In the next generation, there were no particular jerks in pixels and the phone acquired a very similar pitchfork to the previous generation, only with a larger screen.

Selfies are starting to appear, as Instagram appears in 2010. No wonder these models have improved the front camera.

  • 5: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
  • 5S: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;

  • 6, 6 PLUS: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;

  • SE: 12MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
  • 7: 12MP rear camera, 7MP front camera;

  • X: rear camera - dual, 12 MP with wide-angle and telephoto, front - 7 MP;
  • 8: 12MP rear camera, 7MP front camera;

Step-by-step instruction

Introduction

If the glass of your phone is cracked, place overlapping strips of clear tape over the iPhone display until the entire display is covered. This will preserve the glass shards and provide structural integrity when the display is lifted.

Wear protective goggles during repairs to avoid the smallest glass fragments getting into your eyes.

Step 1 - Pentalobe Socket Screws

Discharge the battery to less than 25% before starting work.

Disconnect iPhone.

Remove the two 3.9mm Torx screws on the bottom of the iPhone (next to the Lightning connector) using a Pentalobe 1.2 screwdriver.

Step 2 - lifting the display module

If you are not using iSclack, skip the next two steps.

Close the iSclack handles by opening the jaws with the suction cups.

Place the bottom of the iPhone between the suction cups. The top suction cup should be above the Home button.

Open the handles to close the jaws of the iSclack. Center the suction cups and press them firmly against the top and bottom of the iPhone.

Step 3 - lifting the display module

Clamp your iPhone securely and close the iSclack handle so the suction cups push the front panel away from the back of the case.

Separate the iSclack from the iPhone.

Skip the next three steps and go to step 7.

Step 4 - lifting the display module

If you do not have an iSclack, use a suction cup to lift the front panel.

Place the suction cup on the screen just above the Home button.

Make sure the suction cup is completely on the screen without gripping the Home button.

Step 5 - lifting the display module

Make sure the suction cup is securely attached to the front panel.

While holding iPhone with one hand, pull the suction cup to slightly separate the end of the front bezel from the back of the case.

With the flat end of the spudger, gently push the edges of the back of the case down from the front panel while holding the display with the suction cup.

The force should be constant and steady, without jerking, as the iPhone 5s front panel assembly is tighter than most other devices.

Step 6 - lifting the display module

Using a suction cup and a plastic opening tool and holding the back of the case in place, lift the display up.

Do not open the display completely, as in the upper part it is connected to the body with loops that can break.

Remove the suction cup from the face of the display by pulling the plastic pin out of the way.

Step 7 - lifting the display module

Open the phone slightly to reveal the metal cover that protects the Home button cable.

Keep the cables loose - straining them can damage them. Only with the original Home button, the Touch ID function works. If you damage the ribbon, installing a new Home button will disrupt Touch ID.

Use the sharp end of the spudger to loosen the cover, then remove it with tweezers.

Steps 8 and 9 are ONLY for reassembling the device.

Step 8 - lifting the display module

When reassembling, you will need to reinstall the Touch ID ribbon cover. The top of the cover should fit into the gap between the battery and the Touch ID Flex connector, and the front should snap into place over the connector.

Slide the top of the cover over the Touch ID Flex connector from left to right.

Step 9 - lifting the display module

Use the flat end of the spudger to secure the front of the Touch ID ribbon cover over the cable connector.

If the cover does not snap into place, you may need to remove it and slide it over the cable connector again to fit.

Step 10 - lifting the display module

Use the pointed end of a spudger to pull the home button ribbon cable connector out of the socket.

Step 11 - lifting the display module

Once the connector is free, pull the edge of the Home button to the side of the back case, using the latches on the top of the phone as a hinge.

Open the display to an angle of approximately 90º and lean it against something to keep it in this position while you continue working. Do not open the display more than 90º!

You can use an elastic band to securely hold the display in this position during operation. This prevents excessive voltage build-up on its stubs.

Step 12 - removing the protective cover from the battery connector

Remove the two Phillips PH000 1.6mm Phillips screws securing the battery connector cover to the system board.

Step 13 - removing the protective cover from the battery connector

Remove the battery connector cover with tweezers.

Step 14 - removing the battery connector

Use the pointed end of a spudger to disconnect the battery connector by pulling it out of the motherboard.

Step 15 - Disconnecting the Display

Remove the four Phillips PH000 Phillips screws securing the ribbon connection cover.

Phillips 1.7 mm screw - 1 pc.
Phillips 1.2 mm screw - 1 pc.
Phillips 1.3 mm screw - 1 pc.
Phillips 1.7 mm screw - 1 pc.

The last 1.7mm screw is not attracted to the magnetized screwdriver. Be careful not to lose it.

Be careful, when reassembling, accidentally using a 1.3mm screw or one of the 1.7mm screws in the bottom right hole will cause significant damage to the motherboard.

Step 16 - Disconnecting the Display

Use tweezers to gently remove the display cable cover.

Step 17 - Disconnecting the Display

Using the flat end of the spudger, gently disconnect the iPhone's front camera cable by pulling it out of its socket on the motherboard.

Step 18 - Disconnecting the Display

Disconnect the touchscreen ribbon connector.

When reassembling the phone, the connector may pop out of its socket. This may cause white lines or a blank screen when you turn on your phone. If this happens, simply reconnect the ribbon cable connector and power on the phone. The best way is to disconnect and reconnect the battery.

Step 19 - Disconnecting the Display

Use the flat end of the spudger to disconnect the display ribbon cable connector by pulling it out of the socket on the motherboard.

Step 20 - Disconnecting the Display

Remove the display by separating it from the back of the case.

Step 21 - top speaker

Remove the two Phillips PH000 Phillips screws securing the top speaker mounting plate

Phillips screw 4.0 mm - 1 pc.
Phillips screw 2.3 mm - 1 pc.

When reassembling, the screws must be inserted into their respective holes. Failure to do so may result in serious damage to the LCD.

Step 22 - top speaker

Orient the phone as shown in the illustration with the earpiece facing up.

Gently pull the tab near the lower left corner of the speaker mounting plate out of the notch on the front panel.

Do not use excessive force as the speaker mounting plate is very fragile.

Use tweezers to slide the plate to the left to detach it.

Step 23 - top speaker

Use tweezers to remove the speaker mounting plate from the display.

Step 24 - overhead speaker

Remove the speaker with tweezers.

If you remove it with your fingers, be very careful not to touch the gold contacts on the front. Oily fingerprints can prevent proper contact.

Step 25 - top speaker

The easiest way to replace the top speaker is to install it together with the mounting plate:

Place the mounting plate over the speaker so that it fits snugly against the speaker cabinet.

Insert the left plate latch into the cutout above the upper left corner of the front camera.

Rotate the plate so that it rests on the body and the two screw holes line up.

Replace the plate so that the hook on its right side snaps into place on the display.
