How to set up notifications on an Android device. How to properly configure notifications in Android What is notification on Android

The notification bar is an integral part of any operating system. Android OS is no exception. These notifications display all incoming events for the owner of the device, which also include reminders to download or update software. Among the huge number of such messages, it is very difficult to track down and see what is really important to you. Therefore, to keep the notification panel clean, you need to know how to disable notifications on Android.

Incoming event notification on Android operating system

Adjusting to enable and disable alerts has been made easier since Android 4.1. Now the user just has to go to the "Settings" menu, select the "Applications" item (or "Application Manager") and the "All" tab. In the list that appears, go to the programs or games from which you want to get rid of the pop-up windows. To do this, tap on the selected application and uncheck the "Enable notifications" item, after which the system will display a window where you will need to confirm your choice. But this technique and how the notification screen works has changed quite a bit with the fifth system update.

In general, I made a significant number of changes in the system. This also affected the notification panel. It has become more flexible, customizable and moreover convenient. Let's see what innovations the new version has brought us and how to work with them.

Lock screen

With the arrival of the update, users have noticed that all notifications are displayed on the Android lock screen. We will not talk about the convenience of this feature. But let's tell you what manipulations you can now perform:

  1. If you double-click on the window with the incoming information, the corresponding application will open.
  2. To remove an unread message, just swipe in any direction.
  3. Pull down on the alert box and it will give you a more expanded version showing additional information and functions.
  4. Holding your finger on the window for a long time will give you the opportunity to open a context menu with options.

These buttons now let you do more than just zoom in or out. Completely new options and features have been added to this menu, which will undoubtedly be useful to any user. They allow you to switch between alert modes:

  1. "Do not disturb" - all incoming reminders and messages will be silent.
  2. "Important" - you will receive only important messages from programs, the list of which can be adjusted. In general, when you turn it on, you will see a tab with settings. They can change the operating time of the mode. Moreover, there is a special tab that allows you to customize this mode as flexibly as possible.
  3. “All” is the standard operation of the device.

To fine-tune the information windows, just go to the section specially designated for this. It's in the Settings menu of your device. In it, you can, for example, remove notifications for, open the possibility of notifications for and programs, change the list of blocked applications. Also a very interesting feature is that in the menu of a separate application, you can select the command at will:

  1. Do not show notifications of this application, thereby completely get rid of the program messages.
  2. Or show them at the top of the list, including when only important alerts are allowed.

There are enough settings in the notification panel. It is worth giving them some attention.

Now you have seen how many opportunities you have opened for users who have learned to customize notifications for themselves. And if an unread message hangs, you know how to remove it.

Depending on which notifications you want to receive, you can configure settings for specific applications or for the device as a whole. To see notifications, just swipe down from the top of the screen. Some of them may also appear on the lock and home screens.

Notification settings

Option 1. In device settings

Council. If your device does not have a Recently Sent section, you are most likely using an older version of Android. In this case, select App notifications and click on the name of the app. You can turn on and off notifications and their icons and categories. If the app has categories, click on one of them to see additional settings.

Option 2. In the notification

Option 3. In the application

Notification options are available in the settings of most applications. For example, you can open the settings menu of a specific application and select a sound for its notifications.

On some Android devices, you can choose how the app should notify you.

  • Send alerts. You will hear a beep, a message will appear on the locked screen, and an application icon will be shown in the status bar.
  • Without sound. Notifications will come without sound or vibration, but you can open their list by swiping down from the top of the screen.

Read how to use Windows Action Center. View available notifications, clear them, turn them off, or customize the display... Windows 10's notification center is finally fully centralized for toast notifications and reminders requiring immediate attention and action from the user to address them directly. In this guide, we'll show you how to set up and use Windows 10 Action Center.

Corporation Microsoftby developing and implementing the operating system Windows 10, is trying to expand the capabilities of modern computer devices through an advanced control system. At the same time, manufacturers of components for personal computers, using the latest developments, significantly increase the performance and speed of end devices. Thus, the latest operating system, designed to control modern computers, helps the user to quickly solve emerging problems, while it can be customized for the specific wishes of the user independently by each of them.

In the operating system Windows 10 the ability to personalize the operating system for specific user requirements and services for interaction and control of a personal computer are raised to a new qualitative level. The user can personalize the custom folder configuration, apply a variety of desktop background themes, change the styles of the graphical and sound interface, apply a variety of pre-installed operating system accessibility features, etc. The application deserves special attention.

The capabilities of this application are most fully represented in the version of the operating system Windows 10... Over time, notifications in "Windows" were something of a joke, or an application whose actions were not viewed by users as a serious feedback tool. Even in the operating system Windows 8, which finally introduced pop-up notifications, had several disadvantages. The notifications first appeared on the desktop and then disappeared, and there was no way to view the missing notifications that you might have missed. Windows 10 fixes this oversight with an app located on the slide's side pop-up bar. In the notification center "Windows" all notifications are grouped and displayed, and direct access to quick action buttons is provided, such as:, "Virtual network", "Focusing attention", , "Night light" etc.

Quite easy to use, and it's also pretty easy to customize to whatever the end user wants.

View available notifications in Windows Action Center

First of all, it is necessary to pay attention that Windows 10 pop-up notifications still appear in the lower right corner of your desktop (just above the notification area on "Taskbars") when the application needs to tell you something about any action or state of the operating system.

If you do not close the notification yourself by clicking on the white cross (X) in the upper right corner of the toast notification, it will automatically disappear after six seconds. Whenever you have new notifications, the icon Windows Action Center in the notification area on "Taskbars" turns white and displays the number of new notifications (pictured below right). If there are no new notifications, then this icon looks empty and without a numerical designation (in the figure below on the left).

Click on the icon shown in the pictures above (no matter what state it is in) to open. A pop-up panel will emerge from the right edge of your display, showing all of your recent notifications, grouped by application.

When you click on any notification in Windows Notification Center, then a certain action takes place, depending on the specific application that presented the specified notification to you. Most of the time, clicking on a notification triggers some important message regarding the actions of this application. For example, clicking on a notification "Protection against viruses and threats"marked in the picture above will open the section Threat Log in the window and displays the results of a full scan of the system by the antivirus program. Or when you click on a notification ESET Smart Security Premium, the application will be launched and specific ways to improve the security of your computer will be presented.

Sometimes the results of actions when you click on a specific notification are explained directly in the notification itself. For example, if there are available updates for the operating system or individual applications and programs, this will be directly stated in the notification, when you click on it, the corresponding updates will be launched and installed.

Clear notifications in action center "Windows"

This procedure is pretty simple. Hover over any specific notification in the notification and action bar and you will see a button (white cross "X") in the upper right corner. Click on it to completely remove this notification from the panel. Please note that after deleting the selected notification, it will be impossible to restore it.

You can also delete the entire notification block for the selected application (in our example for the application Windows Defender Security Center) by hovering over the application name and clicking the button that appears there.

Finally, you can clear all available notifications by clicking on the text link in the lower right corner Windows Action Center (just above the quick action buttons).

Configuring notifications

You cannot set many of the settings that indicate how the action center "Windows" notifications will be displayed, but there are several ways to customize the notifications themselves. First you need to open the application. This can be done in different ways, we will show you a few of the most common ones:

Method 1: Open the main Windows user menu by clicking the "Start"located on "Taskbars" in the lower left corner of the desktop. Click on the gear icon in the left menu bar. Or, using the scroll bar, move the slider down and select a section from the list of installed available applications and programs.

Method 2: Press the keyboard shortcut together Windows + X or right click on the button "Start" on "Taskbars", and in the pop-up menu that opens, select a section.

Method 3: Click the notification area icon on "Task Panels" in the lower-right corner of the desktop, then in the pop-up panel that opens, click the Quick Action button.

Method 4: Press the keyboard shortcut together Windows + I and call the application right away directly.

In the list of available application pages, select the page "System" (marked in the picture above). On the settings page "System" .

In the right pane of the window, use the scroll bar to move the slider down and select a section.

The following are the main types of notification settings:

  • "Display notifications on the lock screen" - disable this option if you want to prevent any notifications from appearing when using the computer lock mode. Just move the switch opposite the corresponding cell to the position "Off".
  • Show Reminders and Incoming VoIP Calls on Lock Screen - disabling notifications on the lock screen allows you to display reminders and incoming calls. Flip the switch to the "Off" position. and disable this setting to prevent these kinds of notifications from appearing on the lock screen.
  • "Show the Windows Welcome screen after updates and sometimes at sign-in to communicate new features and offers," and "Get tips, hints and tips when using Windows" - disable these two options if you are not interested in tips, suggestions, new features or announcements.
  • "Receive notifications from apps and other senders" - this parameter allows you to completely disable notifications. To do this, in the appropriate cell, set the switch value to the “Off” position. and the changes made will be instantly applied to the notification settings.
  • "Hide notifications when mirroring my screen" - This option can be disabled if you duplicate your screen (for example, while presenting a presentation) and want to limit the appearance of notifications during the show. Disable this setting by setting the switch value to the “Off” position. in this cell.

If you slide the scroll bar down a little further in the right pane, then you will see the section settings "Receive notifications from these senders" ("Senders" - so the operating system "Windows" names apps and other sources of notifications).

Note that you may not necessarily see every app shown here in our example. Some apps have their own notification settings that you will need to configure directly in the app. However, any app you get through the app store Microsoft Storeas well as many desktop applications can be controlled from this section.

Flip the switch next to any listed application to "Off"to completely turn off notifications for this app.

Click on any app name to open another page that allows you to customize settings in more detail for that app. Consider, for example, setting application options Skype.

On the app settings page, you can turn off notifications for the app, choose whether banners are shown or whether sounds are played, block notifications from being added to, and even control the number of notifications the app can show in the above center.

At the bottom of the page, you will find the app notification priority controls Skype at Windows Notification Centerwhich allow you to control (at least to some extent) the order in which app notifications appear in the hub list.

You can apply one of three available priority settings to an application. By default, the application priority setting is set to "Usual" and is displayed below high priority notifications in action center "Windows"... Priority "Tall" allows notifications to be placed above all notifications with normal priority. "Highest" priority means the notification will be shown at the top of the notification center "Windows"... But, "Highest" you can assign priority to only one application, initially by default the application with this priority is "Cortana".

Customize One Touch Buttons

At the bottom of the action center bar "Windows" you will see four quick action buttons. By default, the panel contains mainly the following buttons:, "Connect", "Net" and (for different versions of the operating system assembly Windows 10 preset One Touch buttons may vary). Press a button to perform the corresponding action (for example, toggle tablet mode on or off). You can read more about Tablet Mode in our earlier article: "What is Tablet Mode in Windows 10".

However, this is not a complete menu of all connected Quick Action buttons. And if you want to reflect them in the notification center "Windows", then click on the text link just above these buttons.

All quick action buttons will be displayed in the action center bar "Windows" in the lower part in the form of rows of tiles. You can revert back to the original Quick Action Button display by simply clicking on the text link that appears in place of the previous link.

In fact, you can customize these quick action buttons to a certain extent. While you cannot add your own custom quick action buttons, you can still choose which buttons appear in the action center and in what order. "Windows".

Open the main window of the section using any of the methods described by us earlier (for example, press together the keyboard shortcut Windows + Ito open the app directly) and then select the page "System".

On the settings page "System" in the left pane of the window, go to the tab. In the right pane of the window, you will see the section and all available buttons, which are reflected in Windows Notification Center.

Press and hold any of these buttons and then drag to customize the order in which they appear in the action center "Windows".

If there are buttons that you have not yet displayed in the Notification Center or, on the contrary, you want to hide, then click on the link Add / Remove Quick Actions.

Use the switches on the page that opens to turn specific Quick Action buttons on or off.

And before you close the application window, any changes you make will be instantly applied to the notification center settings "Windows", and he will take the form that you ask him.

As you can see, it is a welcome addition to the operating system "Windows"... Now, you have a place to view notifications that you may have missed, and there is the ability to quickly access certain system settings simply and easily with one click.

Google has endowed the Android 5.0 operating system with a lot of innovations. For example, from now on, you can create several users who will not have access to all applications. And the American company decided to develop the function of sound notifications.

Even in previous versions of the operating system, we could choose the time when sound notifications were automatically muted. This allowed us not to disturb us at night. Now this function is even more developed. From now on, we can choose not only the time, but also certain days. Also in Android 5.0 there is a so-called notification priority. This means that some events can still be voiced to get your attention. All this is subject to detailed customization, which will be discussed below.

To select priority notifications, you need to go to "Settings". From there, go to the Sounds and Notifications section. Then go to "Notification modes". It is here that you can configure how the mobile device will behave when certain notifications are received. For the sake of some events, it does not hesitate to wake you up. Less important notifications will only cause the indicator light to blink.

It is not worth talking about this section in detail. You need to familiarize yourself with it. Here you can order your smartphone to always notify you about any events. Or do more fine tuning. For example, you can enable mandatory audible alerts for incoming calls. Again, calls can be from all people or only from selected contacts. A smartphone is able to wake you up at any time and about incoming messages.

Scroll down the screen to find the "Important Alerts Only" schedule setting. Here you can select the days and times when the smartphone goes into silent mode, warning you only about the most important events. By default, the device based on Android 5.0 switches to this mode every day, from 22:00 to 7:00.

You can switch to the aforementioned mode without waiting for the night time. You just need to change the volume level using the appropriate button. You will see a popup. There are three buttons in it, with which you can switch to the three most important modes.

The first one is called Do Not Disturb. In it, you will not hear any sound notifications or vibration signals at all. The exception is messages from emergency services, warning of earthquakes and other hazards. However, this only applies to smartphone owners in Japan, the United States, and some other countries.

The second mode is the one, here it has a short name "Important". The notifications you selected will sound an alarm. All others will not cause any reaction from the device, with the exception of the blinking indicator light.

When you switch to the "Only important notifications" mode yourself, you will be asked to set an expiration date. It is set in hours (15, 30 and 45 minutes are still available). Alternatively, you can select the "Indefinite" item. The pop-up window also contains a button that allows you to instantly go to the mode settings.

We hope you find it useful to know about priority notifications. This function will allow you to forget about the existence of a smartphone or tablet, at least during rest or sleep. It will also come in handy for students at school or university. Some people use priority mode in the workplace as well. A forced transition to this mode is required upon arrival at a cinema or other entertainment facility of this kind!

The importance of notifications can hardly be overestimated. After all, if notifications stop coming on your smartphone or tablet, you may miss an important message from a friend or forget to come to a scheduled meeting.

Today, people rely heavily on their devices, in particular on timely notifications. Therefore, if something happens to this function, and it stops working properly, this causes serious inconvenience to the owner of the device. However, unfortunately, sometimes this happens and then the question arises: what to do if notifications from applications do not come?

Application notifications are not received. How to fix?

It is worth noting that sometimes notifications may not work due to a bug during application development. Moreover, it is not uncommon for such an error to be associated with a specific version of the Android OS. But before you complain about a bug to an app developer, you should make sure that there is nothing on your device that can block their appearance.

Of course, for notifications to come, you need to activate this function in the application itself. Then you can check the settings of your device step by step according to the points listed below (the name of the points may differ depending on the brand of the device and the version of the operating system).

In the video below, you can see the methods described in the article to fix this problem, as well as some others.

1) Setting the correct time and time zone.

Incorrectly set time can negatively affect the operation of notifications. If you notice that the time on your device is different from the real one, this may be the cause of your inconvenience. To set the time you need:

1) go to "Settings" to the section;

2) disable function "Auto time detection" (it can also be called "Time zone of the network");

3) install correct date and timeand also choose your timezone;

4) after setting the time reboot device.

2) Turn on the "Show content" function and configure the display of notifications on the screen.

Please note if the "Show Content" feature is enabled on your device. For this:

1) go to "Settings" and go to section "Lock screen and protection";

2) in paragraph On-screen notifications find the section "Contains. lock screen " and select Show Content;

3) further in the main settings menu, go to the section "Notifications" and check if the display of notifications is turned on for the application with which you are having problems. If the display of notifications is turned off activate corresponding switch.

4) In the same item in the additional settings, you can set the priority for notifications "Mark as important" (this item may be called differently). This step can also help with this problem.

3) Disable Background Data Limitations.

When you turn on Background Data Limits, some apps and services may not work if your device is not connected to Wi-Fi. Even if the device is connected to the mobile Internet, notifications, for example, from Viber or WhatsApp messengers, will not come until Wi-Fi is turned on. To disable this feature:

1) go to "Settings" and go to section "Data usage";

2) click on "Options" and if this feature is enabled select Disable background data limitation.

4) Disable power saving mode.

Generally, by default, the power saving mode of the entire device is turned off (unless the battery is depleted). However, individual applications can be put into power saving mode without the user's knowledge. We advise you to turn off the power saving mode for the applications from which you want to receive notifications. For this:

1) in the settings go to the section "Battery";

2) in paragraph "Application Power Consumption" press the button "In detail";

3) if the application you need is in the paragraph, click on it and select "Disable".

This method often helps and notifications start coming.

5) Remove applications blocking the display of notifications.

Applications that block the display of notifications can include such well-known applications as, for example, Clean Master or DU Battery Saver and all similar applications, it does not make sense to list all of them.

Apps to save battery power can simply turn off the apps you need, and a disabled app, accordingly, cannot display a notification on your screen. Therefore, if one of them is installed on your device, disable the blocking of notification display in the settings of these applications or uninstall such an application.

6) Inclusion of the application in the "white list".

On devices of some brands, in order for the application to display notifications, it must be added to the so-called "white list". To do this, you need in the section "Safety" select item "and include the required application in it.

In most cases, these tips should help you with displaying notifications and the question: why notifications from applications do not come, should no longer worry you. Unless this problem is related to an error in the development of the application or firmware of your device.
