Windows live mail calendar contains corrupted data. How To Fix Windows Live Mail Won't Open - Calendar Is Corrupt? Check the advanced mailbox options

We are sorry for the problems with the Mail and Calendar apps for Windows 10. To resolve the issue, try the following steps in order.

Getting started

Before you start, make sure your device has the latest operating system and applications. Try the general solutions in Troubleshoot the Mail and Calendar apps for Windows 10. If that doesn't work, go to the solutions below.

Check the connection to the mail server

If you are having problems sending or receiving e-mail, make sure you have access to the mail server.

    Make sure your device is connected to the Internet. An Internet connection is required to send and receive email. Make sure your device is connected to it.

    Try sending your message over the Internet. Many email service providers allow you to access it through their website. Sign in to your email account on the website and make sure you can send and receive messages through it. If this fails, there may be a problem with the mail server. Contact your email service provider.

    Try sending a message from another app or device. If you are using a different email application or a different computer or mobile device, try sending and receiving mail through it. If this fails, there may be a problem with the mail server. Contact your email service provider.

    Check with your email service provider if the mail server is working. If the provider does not have a website and you cannot set up email in another application or device, check with the provider to see if a mail server is available.

Check your security software

Firewalls and antivirus programs can prevent email and calendar synchronization. While we do not recommend permanently disabling such software, disabling it temporarily will help determine if the problem is with it.

Note: If your device is connected to a network, network policy settings might prevent you from performing these steps. For more information, contact your administrator.

Disable Windows Defender Security Center

Windows Defender Security Center is free and is included with Windows 10. If you have not yet installed other security software, temporarily disable Windows Defender Security Center.

ATTENTION! Be sure to follow the steps above again to enable the firewall for each network profile.

Allowing Mail and Calendar applications in Windows Firewall

If you can sync your email after you turn off the firewall, you need to enable the Mail and Calendar applications on the firewall.

Disable third-party security software

Third-party firewalls and antivirus programs can interfere with synchronization of email and calendar events. While we do not recommend permanently disabling such software, disabling it temporarily will help determine if the problem is with it. Check their documentation to see how to temporarily disable them.

WARNING.

Delete the account and add it again

In some cases, synchronization issues can be resolved by removing the account from the Mail and Calendar applications and adding it again.

Note: .

Delete the account and add it again by doing advanced setup

If, after deleting the account and re-adding it, you still cannot sync your email, you may need to add the account using the advanced setup. See the section for instructions.

If you have Google, Yahoo! ICloud, IMAP, or POP3 email account, check the settings under Advanced mailbox settings to make sure they're configured for your email provider. If you're using an Outlook.com, Office 365, or Exchange account, you won't be able to configure advanced mailbox settings, unless you've configured that account using advanced setup.

Note: There are special instructions for Yahoo! Email, iCloud and QQ accounts. If you're having problems with one of these accounts, see the Special instructions for other accounts section.

Get the information you need from your email provider

Before checking the advanced settings, you will need to find them on the website of your email service provider, or ask the provider for them. You will need the following information:

    Incoming and outgoing mail servers address.

    Incoming and outgoing mail server ports.

    Does the outgoing mail server require authentication?

    Are you using the same username and password to send and receive mail?

    If the username and password are different, make sure you provide the correct username and password.

    Is SSL required for the incoming mail server?

    Is SSL required for the outgoing mail server?

    Contact server (if applicable).

    Calendar server (if applicable).

Check the advanced mailbox options

If you are using an Exchange account that requires advanced options, you must remove the account and add it again with these options. For instructions, see Add an account using advanced setup.

Check your privacy settings

Check if two-factor authentication is enabled for your account

Two-factor authentication helps protect your account by making it harder for others to sign in. Your identity is verified not only with the help of a password, but also by contacting you (while providing information for protection).

The Mail and Calendar apps for Windows 10 do not support two-factor authentication. If two-factor authentication is enabled for your account, you will need to create an app password. The app password is used instead of the regular password for apps that do not support two-factor authentication.

For information on how to create an app password for your account, contact your email service provider.

An error message appears when syncing mail

Sometimes, when I try to sync new messages or calendar events in the Mail and Calendar apps, I get an error message. Here's how to solve the most common problems.

Your account settings are out of date

Typically, an incorrect password is the cause of outdated account settings. On the notification panel, click Correct account... If your password is incorrect, you will be prompted to change it. Enter your new password and click the button Done.

Advice: If you want to change the password for your email account (such as Gmail or iCloud), you will need to do so on the appropriate website. For more information, see Change your password in the Mail app for Windows 10.

If the problem is not with the password, you might have a certificate error. In this case, the message "Proxy server security certificate error has been detected. The CA that issued this security certificate is not trusted."

This error often occurs when SSL is not being used to secure your email account. To fix it, do the following:

The device does not meet the security requirements set by the email administrator

If you receive this error message, read the product security requirements.

Error 0x80072726

Error 0x80072726 can be caused by a third party firewall or antivirus program. While we do not recommend permanently disabling such programs, you can check their manufacturer's website if there is a workaround, or temporarily disable the software and see if that fixes the problem. If so, contact the manufacturer's technical support for information on how to access your email without disabling the software.

Warning: If you've turned off your antivirus software, don't open attachments or click links in messages from people you don't know.

Any additional questions?

Send us feedback

We value your feedback. If the Mail or Calendar app doesn't have the features you want, or if a feature isn't working properly, please provide feedback for the development team.

By then, the notification emails in mid-2011 should have opened Calendar, selected the subject as Event, and removed any future duplicate instances. About ten events were immediately loaded and received and I handled them the same way as above.

Now I'm not interested in what it is?

I deleted [unprinted] all emails, and then immediately displayed as email in my inbox. However, emails continued to arrive and the only way to stop the problem was to free the contents of the deleted folder. Windows Live Mail is not getting calendar information from Outlook mail

Attention : Manual fix Windows Live Mail won't open - calendar corrupted? error is Only Recommended for advanced computer users. Download Auto Repair Tool instead.

Sometimes Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk and other LNK system errors can be related to problems in the Windows registry. Several programs can share the same Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk file, but when these programs are uninstalled or changed sometimes orphaned (invalid) LNK registry entries are left behind.

Basically, this means that while the actual path to the file may have changed, its incorrect former location is still recorded in the Windows registry. When Windows tries looking up these incorrect file references (file locations on your PC), Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk errors can occur. In addition, malware infection may have corrupted the registry entries associated with Windows. Thus, these invalid LNK registry entries need to be repaired to fix the root of the problem.

Manually editing the Windows registry to remove invalid Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk keys is not recommended unless you are PC service professional. Errors made while editing the registry can cause your PC to malfunction and cause irreparable damage to your operating system. In fact, even a single comma in the wrong place can prevent your computer from booting!

Because of this risk, we highly recommend using a trusted registry cleaner such as WinThruster (Developed by Microsoft Gold Certified Partner) to scan and repair any Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk-related registry problems. Using a registry cleaner automates the process of finding invalid registry entries, missing file references (like the one causing your Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk error), and broken links within the registry. Before each scan, a backup copy is automatically created, allowing you to undo any changes with one click and protecting you from possible damage to your computer. The best part is that fixing registry errors can dramatically improve system speed and performance.

Warning: Unless you are an experienced PC user, we do NOT recommend manually editing the Windows registry. Incorrect use of the Registry Editor can lead to serious problems and require you to reinstall Windows. We do not guarantee that problems resulting from incorrect use of Registry Editor can be fixed. Your use of the Registry Editor is at your own risk.

To manually repair your Windows registry, first you need to create a backup by exporting a portion of the registry related to Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk (eg.Windows):

  1. Click the button To begin.
  2. Enter " command" at search bar ... DO NOT PRESS YET ENTER!
  3. Holding the keys CTRL-Shift on the keyboard, press ENTER.
  4. A dialog box for access will be displayed.
  5. Click Yes.
  6. The black box opens with a blinking cursor.
  7. Enter " regedit" and press ENTER.
  8. In the Registry Editor, select the Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk-related key (eg.Windows) you want to back up.
  9. On the menu File select Export.
  10. In the list Save to select the folder where you want to save the Windows backup key.
  11. In field File name enter a name for your backup file, such as "Windows Backup".
  12. Make sure in the box Export range value selected Selected branch.
  13. Click Save.
  14. The file will be saved with extension .reg.
  15. You now have a backup of your Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar.lnk-related registry entry.

The next steps for manually editing the registry will not be described in this article, as they can most likely damage your system. If you would like more information on manually editing the registry, please see the links below.

The main novelty for me, as a user, is that now events on the open calendar can be created by selecting with the mouse, as it was long ago in Google Calendar. Just select a few days or hours and immediately create an event. Let me remind you that earlier you had to click on the button for creating an event and enter the time and date of the event manually. By the way, the mode of displaying one day, week, month and the list of events (Agenda) is supported.

As before, several calendars are supported, which can have a name and color. You can display all calendars at once in the time field or only the ones you have selected. As in the case of Google Calendar, you can differentiate access to calendars according to the following rules:

  • only for myself - personal;

  • available to friends and family for viewing and editing that you have designated from Windows Live users (for each user, Windows Live user, you can choose a personal level of access to the calendar - viewing events, viewing only free / busy time, viewing / changing / deleting events or appoint a co-owner of the calendar with full rights to change and delete it);

  • available to everyone to whom you send a specially generated link - available only for viewing and allows viewing without a Windows Live account (for displaying the calendar outside of the Windows Live Calendar service, export to HTML, ICS and XML formats is provided);

  • full access for viewing to any Internet user, the calendar is indexed by search engines (it is interesting that here you can allow viewing either your events, or only busy and free time).

To import existing calendars, ICS format files are used, which are able to deliver all calendar programs and services, but be prepared to lose cyclic events with such an import.

As for the regional settings, they provide everything to make the Russian-speaking user the most comfortable:

  • russian interface language;

  • choice of any time zone;

  • selection of 24-hour time display format;

  • the task is the first day of the week Monday;

  • choice of the beginning of the working day and days off;

  • setting the default calendar.

The highlight of Windows Live Calendar is the so-called social events. These are the usual calendar events that are sent to the guests by email. Moreover, you can choose a festive template for your letter depending on the type of event as well. indicate the place of the meeting and write an invitation in the WYSIWYG editor!

The recipient of the invitation will be redirected to a virtual list, where he can see how many people are planned, and give his answer (it is not necessary to have a Live account).

As a result, we can say that in the face of Windows Live Calendar, the former dominant of the sector of online calendars Google Calendar is no longer so. We have two products with incredible usability and a gigantic feature set that take advantage of the sibling services so much that they are perfect online time management applications.

As you probably already know, the latest cumulative updates to the Windows 10 operating system not only failed to make any noticeable improvements to the system, but also "broke" applications such as Mail, Calendar and People. Since Microsoft itself is silent on this matter, users themselves are looking for ways to solve this problem. Two options are offered to your attention.

Method one:

  1. Press CTRL + Shift + ESC to open the Task Manager.
  2. Click File\u003e Start New Task.
  3. Make sure you have the "Create this task with administrative privileges" checkbox.
  4. Enter the command CMD and press "Enter".
  5. At the command prompt, enter the following commands:
    Dism / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth

If the commands above finished and did not lead to a solution, run the following commands:

  1. At the command prompt, enter the command PowerShell and press "Enter"
  2. Then paste the command Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach (Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$ ($ _. InstallLocation) \\ AppXManifest.xml") and press "Enter"

Method two:

  1. Download the "Show or hide updates" utility from the link.
  2. Delete KB3081436... The computer will restart during the uninstallation process.
  3. Check for updates - an installation message appears KB3081436.
  4. Without installing the update, run the utility. Select menu "Hide updates" and in the list that opens, check the box next to KB3081436... Click Next. The system will display a message - update has been fixed. Close the utility.
  5. Since the Update Center remains ready for installation KB3081436, choose a different installation time and restart your computer.
  6. Then go to Update Center\u003e Extras. Options\u003e Update Log\u003e Uninstall Updates, if KB3081436 is present, uninstall again. After rebooting, check for updates.
  7. To restore the updates, select the option " Show hide updates".
