Alternatives to replace Google Earth. Free software for Windows free download Planet Earth similar software

An extremely interesting program from the giant Google, which allows you to view satellite maps of the Earth's surface and even space.

Remember how the great writer Victor Hugo described Paris from a bird's eye view? Thanks to modern technologies and the presence of the Internet, you can easily make such an unusual journey without even leaving your home.

Moreover, you can make virtual excursions around the whole world, and then also look into the depths of the sea. And if this is not enough, then you can go into space and explore the Moon or Mars, for example. All these possibilities are provided to us by a relatively small free program Google earth.

This program is a client of the Internet service of the same name and allows you to view, download and edit satellite images of any location on the globe. In addition, the latest version of Google Earth has improved integration with servers such as Youtube and Panoramio, as well as the opportunity to get acquainted with some historical events and look at the bottom of the ocean.

Another innovation is the function of video recording of your route and viewing ready-made excursions.

In addition to the free version, there is also a paid analog of the Google Earth Pro program. Here's how they differ from each other:

Comparison of the free satellite map Google Earth with its paid version Google Earth Pro

As you can see, there are differences, but they are not so critical. The biggest "nuisance" of all is the presence of copyrights and Google Earth logos on the saved maps. A maximum resolution of 1000 pixels in most cases will be sufficient (in a paid maximum speed - 4800 px) to get an idea of \u200b\u200bthe area.

You can measure the area using the Ruler tool and the corresponding mathematical formulas. And instead of the built-in email client, you can use the standard Outlook Express or Google's online service.

Installing Google Earth

There are two options for installing the program. If you want to download it from the official site, you will be offered to download a small (about one and a half megabytes) executable file. After launching it, you will be prompted to download all the necessary installation files from the Internet. You will also be prompted to install the Google Chrome browser.

The second option is offline installation (we suggest using it). In this case, all the necessary files are included in the installation distribution, which should be launched to install the program.

After the installation process is complete, you will find a shortcut on your desktop, by clicking on which you can start Google Earth.

The program window and tips window will open, in which you can learn about some of the features of Google Earth. If you want the tips not to appear again, then simply uncheck the "Show tips at startup" box.

Google Earth interface

Now let's look directly at the program window itself.

It consists of several panels and the main window itself, in which the maps are displayed. You can control the view using the navigation panel (on the right). The slider at the bottom determines the magnification of the map, the "hand" button allows you to move the map, and the "eye" button helps you change the angle of the map.

Google Earth settings

Before starting work with the program, I would advise you to look into its settings. Go to the "Tools" menu and select the "Settings" item:

I advise you to pay attention first of all to the sliders "Relief display quality" and "View map". The higher your Internet connection speed, the higher you can set the quality of the relief and the size of the maps (tiles). The rest of the settings are at your personal discretion :).

Let's close the settings and return to the main program window. The left side panel is of the greatest interest to us. It is with its help that you can find a certain settlement, manage labels and map layers. It is divided into three corresponding subsections, each of which has a number of functions.

Map search

The first section is "Search". Here you will see three tabs: "Flight", "Search for Companies" and "Routes". The first of them provides the ability to quickly find the desired point on the world map (city, village, street, house, etc.). The second tab is very similar to the previous one, but allows you to find specific establishments in a given search area.

The most spectacular feature is laying a route between two specified points. We set two points (departure and arrival), press the search button and after a couple of seconds we get a result with a detailed description of the points of the found route.

The only condition is that the search is carried out only by the already cached maps, therefore, before laying the route, it is worth "developing" all the maps on the way to the layer on which the roads will be visible.

Setting labels

The "Tags" section allows you to view information about some of the places marked on the maps. By default, Google Earth contains only one set of placemarks, collectively called Sightseeing Tour. Click on the plus sign next to the name of the section, and you will see the places that you can visit.

Let's take a look at the Eiffel Tower, for example. Double click the left mouse button on the name of the label, and we are transported to Paris :). To be more effective, I advise you to turn on the layer "3D buildings" in the layers section;).

Additional layers

And finally, the third section of the sidebar is "Layers". This is where the expanse is :). What is not here ... If you love to look at photos taken in different parts of the world - turn on the "Panoramio" layer.

You are interested in the road map - the "Roads" layer is at your service. If you want to receive information about objects on the map from Wikipedia, activate the corresponding option in the "More" section. For example, this is the current meteorological situation over Europe :)

Google Earth Toolbar

With the sidebar, I think there will be no problems, so let's take a look now at the capabilities of the toolbar:

The first button allows you to hide the sidebar. The next group of buttons helps us to add this or that element to the map (a label, shape, path, image or video tour). Let's see how this is done using the label example. Press the button "Add a label" - a dialog box for adding an object will appear.

Select the desired location on the map and edit the information about it in the dialog box, then click "Ok". The created label appears in the list in the side menu.

The next group of buttons allows you to view historical maps of the selected region and change the lighting. Clicking on the button with the image of a planet displays a list of available planets for which maps are drawn. These are Earth, Moon and Mars. In addition, you can see a map of the starry sky (and with reference to the earth's geographical coordinates).

Ruler

The Ruler tool allows you to measure the distance between two points on the map. There are two options for taking measurements. The first - "Line" - allows you to measure only the straight path between two specified points.

If you want to know, for example, the distance between two cities on the highway, then choose the "Path" option and indicate the broken line of your route.

Saving and Sending a Part of the Map

The last group of buttons allows you to send by mail the selected part of the map, print it on a printer or view it on the online service Google Earth.

Google Earth Tools

And finally, let's take a look at one of the program's menus, specifically in the "Tools" menu.

If you have a GPS navigator, you can synchronize it with the Google Earth service through the appropriate menu. Well, for special "extreme lovers" there is an opportunity to fly an airplane over any place on Earth thanks to the flight simulator. We activate the simulator, select the plane, the terrain over which you want to fly and click "Start flight".

You can control the plane with the mouse, but I advise you to read the help and get acquainted with the hot keys for this case, since the control is very delicate :). An unforgettable experience guaranteed!

  • In a large-scale geoinformation project of Google Inc. all accumulated and available online Geo-data, Google Maps, three-dimensional models of the Earth's surface, satellite, aerial and ground 2-D and 3-D photographs, both single and series of photographs, are used. We recommend downloading the Russian version of Google Earth for free for Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP, without leaving the site https: // site and see how many opportunities the free Google Planet Earth program opens for virtual travelers.

    Virtual travel software

A small free client program Google Earth has online access to all the geo-information collected and organized by Google. With the help of a virtual camera, the Gogle Planet Earth application provides the user with the opportunity to visually and comfortably use all the available information about the planet Earth. Anyone who decided to download the latest version of Google Earth Planet for free without registration and SMS and install it on their PC or other device, the program provides an opportunity to see interesting places on Earth, go down into caves or dive to the bottom of the world's oceans.

The free program Google Earth Planet gives the user the opportunity to take virtual walks through interesting natural places and settlements, to look at various objects recreated in 3D models or captured in photographs. During operation, the program constantly downloads and stores current information on the hard disk of the computer, and the next time when examining the same location, it downloads only new information. A unique innovative one can be more than just a virtual globe with the function of instant transfer to any place in the world to explore territories, buildings and other objects using a virtual camera. If desired, the program can be used as a GPS navigator with the ability to lay any routes, by analogy with navigating in Google maps or Navitel ZhPS Navigator.

Differences between Google Earth and popular internet maps and other programs

Similar services, for example, Yandex Maps and Google Maps, show satellite images of the earth's surface in the browser. This approach is quite easy to use, but it has a number of limitations associated with the use of an imperfect web interface. The use of a client program downloaded to a computer or other device helped to solve many problems and implement additional features, and everyone can download the Google Earth free Russian version, even free, even the Pro version. The Gogle Earth cross-platform software is installed on devices running Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, there is also a Java version for mobile phones. Among similar programs with GPS support, many users consider Yandex.Maps, Google Map service, 2GIS, OVI, Navitel Navigator to be interesting. Also in demand is the online information on weather and natural disasters Earth Alerts, generated on the computer by the 3D planetarium WorldWide Telescope, Stellarium and Celesti.

    Functionality, settings, reviews and advantages

The virtual camera can easily be mixed according to the model of the Earth in three dimensions, instantly snapping into coordinates and elevation above sea level. The program settings allow you to make 3-D viewing, a virtual trip through the vastness of our planet, countries, cities or a sightseeing tour as comfortable as possible. It is not necessary to understand the program settings, you just need to download Google Earth for free in Russian and install it on your computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone and even a mobile phone.

Many users of the Google Earth Community forum in their reviews and comments note the ability to quickly and in high resolution view a three-dimensional model of an object of interest. High quality viewing and fast rendering of a 3D model is possible through the use of technology or OpenGL. The correct integration of images, tags, notes, voice comments, a plug-in WikiMapia tags layer, as well as the names of cities and small towns, streets, water bodies, shops, hotels and other objects has earned positive reviews.

For those who already use Google Earth Frey, it makes sense to update or simply re-download the latest version of Google Earth Pro for free in Russian for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8 .. In the recently free Google Earth Pro, printing with a higher resolution and support for GPS navigation. Interesting is the new function of the sightseeing tour in nearby attractions and the function of flying over objects. The user can not only look, but also create his own pictures and labels with reference to coordinates. It is convenient to exchange such tags on the G. Earth Community forum, which will become publicly available after a while.

Among the advantages of Google Earth Pro and Free are the following:

    • convenient intuitive navigation principle,
    • easy navigation with the mouse, arrows on the keyboard or gestures on the touch screen with the ability to zoom,
    • using hot keys, for example, flight simulator (Ctrl + Alt + a),
    • cross-platform (Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS and mobile phones),
    • high speed of information updating,
    • the maximum number of objects in comparison with analogues,
    • many options for arbitrary position of the virtual camera,
    • high quality detailing of objects,
    • qualitatively reproduced three-dimensionality of the Earth's surface,
    • detailed three-dimensional models of buildings from the 3D Warehouse service,
    • planning routes with an overview of objects, streets and attractions,
    • street view with G. Street View,
    • underwater travel in G. Ocean mode,
    • flight simulator for detailed study of the terrain from a bird's eye view,
    • adjusting light and shade to the time of viewing the area,
    • the ability to load dynamic layers (KML) into the service,
    • easy connection of the WikiMapia label layer,
    • observation of the starry sky in G. Sky mode,
    • viewing models of the Moon and Mars,
    • function of accurate measurement of distances in the tour,
    • saving and printing pictures.

The art history Earth-object Prado Masterpieces allows you to examine in great detail the paintings stored in the Prado Museum in Madrid, with detail up to 14,000 megapixels. Also on the Planet Earth from Google, other cultural monuments are presented, including world architectural masterpieces. The paid Plus and Pro versions support GPS navigation and higher resolution. In the section on the question Are there analogues of the Google Earth program? given by the author Ask for the best answer is You mean in real time? -no
NASA World Wind - A virtual geographic atlas created by NASA. Unlike the Google Earth program, it allows you to consider not only the surface of our planet, but also the Moon and Mars. NASA World Wind allows you to choose the scale, direction and angle of view, as well as (optionally) display the names of geographic objects and political boundaries.
Another characteristic feature of the program is the ability to expand its options with plug-ins: to support GPS, display clouds and earthquakes almost in real time, etc. The distribution includes images of the Earth's surface in rather low resolution; higher resolution maps can be downloaded from the Internet if required. A fast processor (3.1 GHz and higher) is required for comfortable work with programs.

    Answer from Fesor-sama[guru]
    ??? am i dumb? ?
NASA released an analogue of the Google program .... tobish vice versa)) this is Google released an analogue)) but they are at the same level in popularity

In the past year, several 3D mapping services have appeared at once. The most famous (but not the first) of these was Google Earth (http://earth.google.com), which was talked about the most.

Second, perhaps, is World Wind (http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov), an open source program developed by NASA (http://www.nasa.gov).

Most of the public learned about satellite mapping services last year, when Google entered the market. However, in fact, programs for viewing satellite photos have been around for a long time. For example, Microsoft released Terraserver several years ago.

However, until recently, satellite images were not in any way connected with map services, of which there were quite a few: MapBlast, MapQuest, Yahoo! Maps, Google Maps. Mapping services have gradually evolved, and some have begun to provide local information about restaurants, shops, and other items that can be found in a given geographic area.

The era of satellite maps began last year, when satellite images appeared on Google Maps overlaid on regular maps. It was a real breakthrough. Around the world, users have been enthusiastically viewing satellite photographs of their own homes.

In June 2005, another event happened: the Google Earth program appeared with 3D maps of the Earth. At that time, a similar program from NASA had already existed on the market for six months, but certain technical training was required to work with it, while anyone could view the Earth in Google Earth. It was very impressive: download a 3D image of the Earth, and then enter the address and see in all details the most famous landmarks of our planet: the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, etc.

The potential of Google Earth was so obvious that many companies began to create solutions based on this technology. For example, you could use the Keyhole Markup Language (KML) to place your own features on the map. Thus, it became possible to use the Google Earth program in their own projects, for personal purposes.

KML is a special "geographic" extension to XML designed to display information in the Google Earth client. In fact, Google Earth has become the "corporate standard" for satellite 3D maps, although a similar development from NASA's World Wind had been released six months earlier. The developers of the latter realized this fact and radically redesigned their program, adding the function of smooth zoom and search by address. Although World Wind's 3D engine is on par with Google Earth, World Wind is much more difficult to use.

However, there is every reason to believe that World Wind will still be able to compete with Google Earth. First, it uses not one, but several data sources, including the government satellites Land Sat 7 and special instruments - the MODIS spectroradiometer (a device that monitors fires and floods on the planet's surface), SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) for a general view of the Earth and other tools.

The creators of World Wind promise to implement XML support in the near future and to release special tools to make it easier for developers to create additional programs using the World Wind engine.

Other companies are simultaneously developing their own programs with similar functionality. These are Microsoft Virtual Earth, Motherplanet Earth Explorer, and ArcGIS Explorer from Earth Systems Research Institute. Professional system ArcGIS, which will appear on the market no earlier than Q2. 2006, will be designed not for the general public, but for the community of professionals who are engaged in geographic information systems, but at the same time ArcGIS will be accompanied by a large set of functional tools for developers.

Microsoft's Virtual Earth, while still in beta, also has some interesting features that could allow it to compete with Google Earth and World Wind. It uses NAVTEQ technology and USGS photography. Most importantly, no separate client software is required to work with Microsoft Virtual Earth. All you need is a browser.

However, experts doubt that competitors will be able to squeeze Google Earth out of the market in the near future, although there is one thing that could reduce its market share. This will happen if Google starts integrating advertisements into the free version of the map service. In this case, some users may turn to other ad-free programs, such as World Wind.
