How to upload files to iPhone (iPad)

First way: download course files from your computer via iTunes (for this your iPhone (iPad) must be synchronized with your computer).

Second way: sync the application with the cloud storage you are using and upload files from there. You don't need a computer for this, you just need the Internet.

Method one (via computer)

If you downloaded the course in the form of archive files (zip files), you can download and unzip them already in the application itself on the iPhone / iPad (it has an unzip function).

Alternatively, you can unzip the course on your computer and then upload the files to the application. In this case, if, for example, you want to save memory on the device, you can do it in parts (download the course one or more lessons as you progress).

Step-by-step instruction:

1) Connect iPhone (iPad) to your computer and open iTunes.

2) Select your iPhone (iPad) and in the menu go to Programs (Apps).

3) Scrolling down to Common files (File sharing), find the icon Documents.

4) Press the button To add a file… (Add ...) (in the lower right corner). Now find the course files on your computer (where they were downloaded), select the ones you need and add. Or you can simply open the folder with the downloaded course on your computer and drag and drop files (or entire folders) using the drag & drop method.

5) Now go to iPhone (iPad), find the icon Documentsand run the application. You should see the uploaded course files there.

If you have uploaded a zipped file, clicking on it will unpack it.

Method two (via cloud storage)

If your files are stored in cloud storage (Yandex.Disk, Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, etc.), you can download them to your device directly from the application, without using a computer.

1) Runon iPhone (iPad) Documents app by Readdle and synchronizeits with your cloud storage:

1.1) At the bottom of the screen, among the menu icons, find the image of a double cloud with the name Services (Services). Click on it - you will be taken to the section for choosing a cloud storage.

1.2) Click Add Account (Add Account);

1.3) In the new window that opens, select the cloud storage you use (for example, Yandex.Disk) - click on it;

1.4) Fill in the fields provided (depending on the service, the fields may differ; for example, to synchronize with Yandex.Disk, you need to enter your Yandex username (without @ yandex.ru) and the password to it.)

2) We load the course into the application:

2.1) After creating a connection to your cloud storage, you will see its contents. Find the course files there.


2.2) Select the desired file and click the button Download (Download) on the bottom control panel.

2.3) All downloaded files will be collected in a folder Downloads (Downloads). From there you can move them to another folder (you can create your own folders).

You can sort the files as you like, in about the same way as you do on a computer.

File Hub is a practical and easy-to-use file manager for the iOS operating system that allows you to read and efficiently organize files in a wide variety of formats. Let us remind you that when testing “Documents” it was with the video player that the biggest misunderstandings arose, since it completely refused to play anything at all. Maybe the files were bad, or something in this module was actually wrong.


Of course, the app developers didn't forget to add playlists here, which is very wise.


File Hub does a great job with cloud storage, but it has its limitations. So, there is no synchronization function at all, which has proven itself very well in "Documents", it allows you to check changes in the marked folders immediately at the start of the application and copy the missing content to the local storage. This is very convenient, but the developers of our today's experimental have not yet come to this opportunity. I also did not like the lack of functionality for adding multiple accounts of the same cloud service (what do they feel sorry for?). Finally, let's add the lack of a customizable "WebDav" protocol, with which you can add some kind of cloud storage not provided by the developer. For example, it is with its help that you can bind to the Yandex.Dix application, but definitely not in our today's hero.


Continuing the topic of wireless data transmission, it is worth noting that through the "Wi-Fi" connection and the browser, you can fully control all the content of the application.


Data transfer via Bluetooth technology is also available, but only between iOS devices with open File Hub applications.


If wireless file sharing is alien to you, then you can use the old grandfather sync via "iTunes".


Let's briefly go through the list of application settings. It is possible to protect its opening with a password, change the color theme, show all file extensions or not, display thumbnails, set up a slide show, control player parameters, etc.


What do we have in total? In general, the "File Hub" application fulfills all its functions one hundred percent and in fact can replace at least a dozen additional applications for an ordinary user. Amir Etemadi: Hello everyone and welcome to the GTVHacker presentation "Hacking Everything: 20 Devices in 45 Minutes." We have been the creators of the original Google TV products since 2010, as well as products such as Chromecast, Roku and Nest, and we also release exploits for all Google TV devices.

So who are we? I am a research scientist at Accuvant Labs created by the GTVHacker group, CJ is a group leader and security researcher, and also occasionally acts as a technology developer. Hans Nielsen is a Senior Security Consultant at Matasano, while Mike Baker is a firmware developer and co-founder of OpenWRT.

There are 8 members in our group, including Gynophage, right now he is doing something called DefCon CTF, Jay Freeman, Cydia creator, student Koa Hoang, and Tom Dwenger, the greatest expert in APK and everything related to Java.

So why did we decide to hack devices, why not software that we also don't like? You know, when a device gets old, reaches its end of life, it is just thrown into a landfill. Essentially, old devices are killing, and there is no benefit to it, as happened with the Logitech Revue.

We give new life to discarded devices, and we also always strive to make the product better, to give it more features, and if we can do it, we do it. We like to answer technical challenges, you know, it's like puzzles that you like to solve.

Learning is, of course, a delightful process, but the essence of this presentation can be summed up in words:

"You have a root!"

Essentially, "hacking 20 devices in 45 minutes", that is, during the presentation, does not leave us a lot of time to spend in detail on each device. Therefore, I will show you the device showcase, which will be included in our "Wiki" immediately after the presentation. We will familiarize you with technical details, equipment diagrams, whatever we can, because it is quite difficult to read. At the bottom of the slide you see a link, you can use it after the presentation to get access to all the things shown during this demo. And now I will give the floor to my colleague, who will tell you about the Attack Prospectus.

Hans Nielsen: There are endless ways to attack this kind of device. Today, using these 20 devices as an example, we will look at 3 main methods of hacking.

The first is using the debugging ports located on the devices themselves. The second method is that we can use serial ports or EMMC memory cards, this is an older version of SD cards, to connect to the device and modify the storage. The third method is getting direct access to the OS, which allows you to inject a whole bunch of commands through the command line to trigger the most common consumer electronics errors.

So, let's talk about UART - a universal asynchronous transceiver. It is used by developers to debug equipment and does not carry any more functional load. This is a very simple interface - one wire is for transmitting, the other is for receiving, and the third is for ground.

They ask me how old I am - I answer, I'm 27 years old, thank you for your question! So, here a very simple data exchange protocol is used, and the port itself operates with different voltage levels, for example 1.8V, 3.3V or 5V and is a serial port, similar to USB ports in a computer.

So you have some free adapters to play with your own devices, and I hope you get as much value out of them as we could. So how can the UART be used?

Consider a specific device - Epson Artisan 700/800 MFP, which is both a printer, scanner and copier that can be used as a network printer. It is controlled by Linux OS 2.6.21 - arm1. What can you do with it? If you open the case, you can see the printed circuit board, on which there are 4 contacts: receive, transmit, ground, power. This is a variation on the classic UART connection.

After connecting our debug port here, we saw the printer settings console menu.

We can reboot the printer, reset the settings, execute an arbitrary shell command, execute whatever commands we need, all in all, it's fun to play with our printer.

The second device is a Belkin WeMo smart plug with internet control. It allows you to use a mobile phone to turn on your coffee maker and other household appliances via the Internet and is widely used by different people.

This is a rather small device, so it is difficult to read the designations on the PCB. But we found the contacts of the receiver and transmitter and connected the UART to them. After that, the Internet reported that the device was patched, but this was not true. It turned out that we had only 2 seconds to enter the command, after which the device automatically rebooted.

At the right moment, we managed to enter a command that "killed" the reboot script, after which we could do whatever we wanted with this smart socket.

The third device is the Greenwave Reality smart lamp, a Phillips Hue competitor that uses the ZigBee upper layer network protocol and has been talked about a lot. It's funny that it uses a PowerPC microprocessor. At startup, this lamp provides an SSH server for which we had no password.

When we opened the case, we also found the contacts for the UART. This device was equipped with a universal open U-boot boot loader that boots and starts Linux. Using this loader, you can do anything - reflash the device, change the kernel command line. You can accompany the Linux boot with many options, for example, allowing you to find out the amount of memory on the device. We managed to get root privileges by changing the bootloader command line. To do this, we connected via UART, inserted the bin / sh module into the kernel command line, and so we entered the bootloader shell.

In order to safely use the device in the future, we hacked the "thinkgreen" password to access root rights.

The fourth device is File Transporter, a flash drive with network connectivity. This is a kind of portable "cloud" that uses a large hard disk of the classic format HDD with a capacity of 1 TB to store files. It can be connected to your home network and can access files on various home devices.

This "file transferring" has recently appeared on the market and is a fairly standard kind of device running Linux. It's a pretty funny thing, and after removing the case from it, we easily found an adapter for connecting a UART.

It also used a U-boot bootloader, so we were able to root using the kernel command line as in the previous case. This gave us the ability to change the root password and gain access to the device.

The fifth device was the Vizio CoStar LT network media player model ISV-B11. It provides access to the CoStar channel, which was previously part of the Google TV network. This media player connects to other devices via the Internet or cable via HDMI output.

It may seem funny that Google TV no longer exists, but there is still our group called GTVHacker. So, in the upper left corner of the printed circuit board, white letters indicate a classic 4-pin UART connector in a row. Here we had a little difficulty in communicating with the kernel, because after we connected the USB flash drive, we received the message "incomprehensible file system on the flash drive." We reformatted it to FAT32, after which a message popped up: “I can't find fs.sys”. It looked suspicious, so we did some research.

As a result, it was concluded that during boot, you need to have both files on the USB flash drive - fs.sys and safe-kernel.img1. The first file is a U-Boot script image loader that contains arbitrary U-Boot commands to be executed at boot. We used the same trick we used to jailbreak the previous device. Modifying the kernel command line gave us the ability to hack the kernel and gain root privileges. To boot a completely new kernel, you can use a combination of these two files found on a flash drive that simply plugs into the UART.

The Staples Connect, a Linksys Zonoff model, is the sixth device we've hacked. This is another small home automation hub, a hub that communicates together home devices of different brands and different types. It is equipped with a Wi-Fi module and a USB port for connecting a hard disk and is based on the use of cloud technology.
On the printed circuit board, we found a block with contact sockets. We short-circuited pins 29/30 of the NAND memory, due to which an error occurred while loading the U-Boot environment and the device rebooted. After setting the default timeout, we ran the command setenv bootargs “console \u003d ttyS0,115200 init \u003d / bin / sh [...]”, we booted into the root console. By adding the line # dropbear - d 222, we can modify, save and edit U-Boot. The SSH password "oemroot" was used to access the root, which we managed to crack relatively easily. And now I want to introduce you to CJ.

CJ Heres: I want to talk to you about non-volatile memory cards of the eMMC format - Embedded MultiMedia Card. They are based on a standard SD memory card chip. This is a pretty cool thing that includes a flash module and a flash controller. That being said, you don't need to worry about any extra magic bits.

A regular memory card contains additional bits that handle errors and contain error correction code, this function is for developers. The eMMC memory card uses a regular file system and is accessed through a cheap multimedia card reader that reads both regular SD cards and eMMC cards equally well. Since this card is structurally surface-mountable BGA chips, its pins are solder balls applied to the back of the pad. To work with such a card, it is necessary to identify these contacts, that is, we needed certain balls to connect the debugger.

To find the right pins, we first looked at the board design, all sorts of stickers, labels under the resistors, the tracing of the printed substrate and pins on the other side of the board. Then we used intuition and logical analysis, and after that we just pulled out the chip and saw what was not working. We were able to connect this card to the MMC reader and reset the settings.

Now let's talk about our 7th device, this is an Amazon Fire TV set-top box with a remote control.

It is equipped with a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and 8GB eMMC storage, and runs a modified version of Android 4.2.2 called Fire OS 3.0.

Having opened the case, we began to look for the eMMC pinout, and during the search we spoiled one device, since we broke one of the contacts when we pulled out the eMMC chip, so we had to work on the second copy of the set-top box.

On the left of the slide, the location of the eMMC contacts is shown, on the right are the UART contacts for 1.8V.

Having successfully hacked this set-top box, we took on device # 8 - Hisense Android TV, a smart TV running Android, a kind of Google TV that has been rebranded. It uses one of the latest processors, the 4-core Marvell MV88DE3108. At last year's DefCon, we showed you how to bypass Safe Boot for this processor line thanks to a small bug in their firmware.

The next slide shows how the contacts for connecting the debugger look like. They are small enough, but we didn't have to pull out the flash memory chip.

For this device, I had to go through a rather extensive procedure - first, mount the "factory_settings" section of the factory settings using the / dev / mmcblk0p3 command, which was saved between downloads, then use the good old mode # chmod 4755 su, you can also use the program for obtaining root rights Super SU. Further, through the debug bridge "Android" ADB, you can modify the OS, which is very similar to the original Android.
So, let's move on. Never say, "Device X cannot be hacked." In 2011, the USPS Postal Service published a promotional video stating that "the refrigerator cannot be hacked." This company has positioned itself as a leader in refrigerator safety. You can watch a video about this on YouTube. I took it as a challenge. I didn't have the extra $ 3000 to test this claim on a new refrigerator, but you can find anything in the junkyard, including parts of discarded refrigerators. I managed to get hold of the electronic filling of the smart refrigerator LG Smart Refrigerator, model LFX31995ST, running the slightly outdated Android 2.3 operating system. This is the ninth device to be hacked.

The "brain" of the refrigerator controlled freezing, temperature of food, making ice, consumption of drinking water, and the device itself was equipped with a Wi-Fi module, a USB port and an SD memory card.

The PCB had UART pins for booting the Root console and an eMMC chip. This made it possible to mount the system, as in the case of the Fire TV, insert the stock Android bootloader and load the superuser binary. As it turned out, the parameter ro.secure \u003d 0, that is, the device already had superuser access. Probably, the developers were sure that no one would even take advantage of this opportunity.

Then we got busy entering commands. Note that you should never trust user input and never use shell commands. Entering the ls% s command with the parameter “; reboot” yielded ls; reboot, after which the system rebooted successfully.

Exhibit 10, which perfectly demonstrated the hacking capabilities, was the Vizio Smart TV, model VF552XVT, which is based on the BCM97XXX Yahoo Powered Smart TV series. Despite the fact that this platform is outdated, it is still widely used.

This is one of the latest LED TVs and is noticeably thinner than LCD models.

Command line injection here is via the Wi-Fi password, which is a more modern variant of the UART debugger over the USB port.

If you set Wi-Fi mode, you can enter the menu and connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot. If you can enter the commands shown on the slide, you will have access to the system root.

To do this, we used a USB UART adapter and then entered a string of several characters that told the kernel where to send data. After a couple of minutes, we received a data entry error, and then entered a long bash 2 command, which meant that all data coming from this device should be sent to the shell, and all shell data should be sent to the device. This way we were able to get root rights via USB UART.

Device # 11 is a Sony BDP-S5100 Blu-ray player with MTK 8500 processor running OC Linux. It is equipped with Wi-Fi, access to online movie viewing services Netflix, VUDU and so on.

Another Blu-ray player on the same chipset is device number 12, the LG BP530, with similar functionality.

We found that both of these devices have the same chipset firmware bug supporting the use of the SDK.

If you put an empty file called "vudu.txt" in a folder called "vudu" on a USB stick, and also create an exploit "vudu.sh" containing the following lines:

Mount –t overlayfs –o overlayfs / etc / passwd echo "root :: 0: 0: root: / root: / bin / sh"\u003e / etc / passwd / mnt / rootfs_normal / usr / sbin / telnetd
Then you can do the following.

Start the VUDU service, it will execute the shell script as superuser, and you will be completely free to use the Telnet connection. This can be done with all MTK 8500 players, including the next device number 13, the Panasonic DMP-BDT230 Blu-ray player.

It's very simple. The next slide shows the printed circuit board, which has almost the same layout for all the mentioned players. There is a 115200 8n1 console pin to which the UART can be connected. This was very important for us, as it allowed us to detect the above error during debugging. However, there is another possibility of command line injection via the root console using the OSD, since the name of the network folder is not checked before use.

Thus, you can get superuser rights and dispose of all the capabilities of the devices at your discretion.

To do this, click on the "+" on the bottom panel and select " Create a new folder"Not only that, File Hub includes a lot of functions, even a dictaphone recording (ladies and gentlemen, you don't need to search for programs for recording sound from your i-devices). You can throw anything and anywhere, even sort everything into folders.

This is how the design of the application itself and listening to music looks like.

This was the first way. The second method is Wi-Fi transmission. This function works only if the interacting devices (computer - device, device - device) are connected to a Wi-Fi network. The same is with Bluetooth (the computer must support this function). Frankly, a very handy thing. But the good old way via USB has not been canceled.

You can safely add a folder and put a password on it so that some do not get into your classified materials.

So, the files are uploaded, everything is fine. And what's next? And then - use. The file manager accepts literally all existing (of course, we are talking about common formats) file formats. To be honest, I did not check all the formats, which is obvious, but the ones that I slipped into the File Hub were calmly and perfectly understood by the application.

Wi-Fi transfer window and support communication right through the app. Very comfortably.

The audio player is great. You can not only create playlists, but also play them in the mini-player, while flipping through documents or watching pictures. Will not interfere. You can't pick on a video player either - it reproduces all formats, everything is smooth, beautiful and pleasant. Everything is also played in the background. There are also no complaints about viewing documents - even iWorks can view files. While browsing, you can make a bookmark, which also helps a lot. Support for cloud services is the most important thing. Sharing files via Dropbox is great.

Absolutely any file can be sent by mail, over the cloud, and even printed. So if you have Bluetooth-printer, there is no File Hub price.

Safety comes first. You can set a password for the entire file manager or for individual folders. An irreplaceable thing. So if you suddenly forget your password, then say goodbye to all the classified materials. You can also dig into the settings and discover a lot of useful things - for example, changing the theme. As well as showing a slideshow. The manager even detects free space on the device.

Of course, there are bugs in the application, but they are minor. Sometimes it incorrectly displays the remaining free space on the device, it can crash ... But if all this is quickly communicated to the developers (fortunately, you can write about it directly from the application), they will fix it very quickly.

Verdict

File Hub Is a truly excellent file manager that will appeal to even the most capricious user. Good design, convenient control, pleasant functionality - all this makes the application a master in its field. Feel free to recommend it to your friends and buy it at full price. It fully justifies itself.

Describing one of the App Store file managers is a thankless job. Many have already become attached to Phone Drive, Documents 5, and iFiles, so it is dangerous to offer them to arm File Hub, which performs the same functions, albeit in a more human form. But we will try :)

To be honest, the author of this review could not imagine life without Phone Drive. The thirst for change and an unexpected sale made me squint in the direction of File Hub, about which the well-known Apple portals spoke quite flatteringly. Now Phone Drive is no longer there, but there is an observable replacement that has managed to survive a competitor with a similar set of chips, but with its own unique approach, or something ...

Visually, File Hub is in no way inferior to its neighbors. It is laconic, made in a modern flat style, in contrast to the same Phone Drive, where there are still hints of volume. You quickly navigate the files, immediately notice where the required folder is. Switching between interface elements is pretty nice.

You can bring Feng Shui on the screen in different ways. Organize documents by name, date, and other attributes. Output folders first, then single files. Change the scan lines for sketches, for example, to find books faster by cover. Nearby, on the bottom panel, where the function keys are located, there is a rather flexible search icon.

By clicking on "Change" in the upper right corner, you will see how all the shortcuts come to life. Icons will appear next to them, which open the context menu, which allows: add to favorites, rename, delete, copy, move, compress and protect files.

Archiving is an important part of working with files. The program also offers to set a password during packaging. You can also hang the lock separately by going to the "Protection" function from the drop-down menu.

Moving and copying to File Hub is done according to all logical laws: if you want to move or clone, the program will immediately ask: where? No unnecessary red tape.

The main menu slides out on the right. From there, we switch between application files and cloud services, view recently opened and selected documents, manage music and video lists, and turn the levers in the settings.

We fly into the "clouds". The program is friendly with all popular services, allows you to use the WebDAV protocol, FTP, but for some reason has no idea about SFTP. The Chinese did not think about this trifle.

Working with files in the air storage differs in that you have the right to perform any manipulations with local documents, and you will have to download the deleted materials first. They will be waiting in the Downloads folder.

In addition to cloud solutions, there are also a couple of other ways to fund the File Hub warehouse. Actually, they are the most classic ones: via a web interface via HTTP; via Bluetooth; using USB. What questions there may be, all methods have long been known to the public.

Having dealt with the dispersion of files and the methods of their "filling", it's time to move on to playing the various formats. The developers announced support for more than 40 formats: we did not check the full list, but we did not encounter errors during testing. Let's make it a list instead:

  • Video: MP4 / MOV / M4V / AVI / FLV / SWF / WMV / MKV / RMVB / MPG / F4V
  • Photo: all known formats
  • Extract from archives: ZIP, RAR, 7-zip, CBZ, CBR, TAR, BZ2, GZ

As far as PDF is concerned, File Hub can only open and direct the user through documents. It supports OCR, an optical character recognition technology that allows you to search text. Unfortunately, we are not talking about annotating and editing.

By the way, we'd like to point out that it is a pleasure to study multi-page PDF books. The application remembers the last pages, places bookmarks, correctly displays pages without tedious scrolling.

We cannot complain about the launch of photos, videos and music. The records are played in the iTunes player, the video player contains all the functions necessary for playback, the images are opened so that nothing interferes with them. Detailed information about each image is displayed, if known.

We are sure that everyone will find additional pros (or cons) File Hubthat were hidden from our keen eyes. The application, however, is expensive. 219 rubles against the background of free Documents 5 or Phone Drive for 119 rubles, they look too curly. However, you can always try the free version to finally decide on your preferred file manager for iOS.
