Google calendar log into account. How do I set google calendar to my desktop? Create a new calendar

Once seemed to me uncomfortable, in the future he became my faithful friend and helper. In fact, it is an online diary with the ability to notify you of an upcoming event by email or a pop-up window in your browser.

What does it all look like? Like a diary!

The diary interface is very simple. You can change the view by day, by week, by month. For me, for example, the monthly format of data output is most convenient.

Cyclic events can be assigned. For example, add the days when you need to collect money from customers or pay for hosting. Keeping a Google calendar is actually quite simple and enjoyable. 🙂

I clicked on the cell - a form for adding the next event popped up. You can also indicate its cyclical nature. You can highlight different events in different colors, such as "good or bad", as well as keep common calendars (for example, inside company calendars), invite friends to events, organize meetings, etc.

There is also a convenient built-in calendar search. It will help you find the one you want among a bunch of added events.

Needless to say, this service, like many provided by Google, is completely free and available to you if you have a Google account? It is also available to you from anywhere in the world. You will be able to conduct business, plan and manage your time with maximum convenience and comfort.

How do I use Calendar? All payments for hosting, payments from clients and for clients are entered here. This way, nothing gets lost and is always at hand. Even if you forget to open the calendar, notifications about an upcoming event will be sent to your mail at the appointed hour. Well, if you forget to go to the post office ...

And also thanks to the top Google-panel it is very convenient to switch between Calendar and Documents. Who uses both of these services will understand me.

All that remains of you go to this service and try to start using it. I am sure you will like it

P.S. Yes, I know that there are many similar things, for example, the same Miniplane, which is much more sophisticated and more beautiful, but for some reason I still switched to the Google calendar. Probably because it's easier and less buggy?

Good day, dear friends! Today we will consider one of the useful services from Google - Google calendar.

With it, you can view all scheduled appointments and birthdays, set reminders in the form of an alert or letter that will come to your e-mail, synchronize between Google calendars on different devices, or import / export events from other calendars, for example, Yandex Calendar.

You can read more about that on the site by clicking on the link.

How to login

We launch the browser on a computer or laptop. In the upper right corner we find the button "Google Applications" and click on it to expand the list. From the list of apps, select Calendar.

Using a Google account or account, you will have access to all applications and will be able to sync them between different devices.

To make it clear: if you install Google Mail on your phone and view messages there, delete them and send. Then, by going to Google Mail in the browser (under the same username and password), the data is synchronized, and you will not have to flip through the letters that you previously viewed on your phone - they will either be deleted or marked as read (depending on what you did with them on your phone).

Therefore, if you registered on the Play Market, Google Mail, Google Drive or something else like that, this means that you already have a Google account. Enter the appropriate e-mail address in the field provided and click "Next".

If you have not used Google apps before, then you need to create an account.

In order not to constantly enter the email address and password, you can check the box "Stay logged in". If you are not the only one using a computer or laptop, then it is better to uncheck the box. To prevent another person from using Google applications on your behalf, for example, a calendar.

If you need to return to the current date, click on the Today button.

To customize your Google calendar, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "Settings" from the list.

All basic settings are set in the "General" tab. For example, you can set the week to start on Monday and choose a convenient time format.

After making changes, do not forget to click on the "Save" button.

On the Calendars tab, you can manage existing calendars or create new ones.

How to add a new entry or reminder

Google Calendar is a free online electronic diary, a faithful assistant in business management. With it, you will not miss a single important event by setting up reminders of upcoming events via E-Mail and SMS.

To start driving electronic diary online , you need to register with Google - start a mailbox. This will be enough to access many services, including the calendar.

Organizer program - Google Calendar

The interface of this diary is quite simple, it looks like a regular calendar. Record important events that you don't want to forget about, and set up reminders about them. Thus, you plan your schedule for the day, week, month, or even a year in advance.

Those who enter the online diary for the first time will immediately be prompted to customize the calendar for themselves: specify the country, time zone, notification schedule, etc. At the first stage of work, you can skip all this by clicking "Next" in the dialog box.

The calendar settings will still not go anywhere, you can return to them at any time from the corresponding menu section.

To add a new event - select a date in the calendar, then left-click on the time of day and name the event. If it will last more than 1 hour, click on the start time of it, and while holding the left mouse button down, select the required time period.

Events are recorded in the diary and using the "Create" button. In the window that appears, write the name of the event, time, location, if necessary - a description and setting of reminders.

When the event data is complete, remember to save it. The event created in the calendar will look like this.

The red line marks the current time.

Removing an event from the diary

To delete an event, left-click on it. The event window will open, click the "Delete" button.

Google Calendar Reminders and Alerts

The electronic diary has various notification options: by, SMS and pop-up windows in the calendar itself.

With E-Mail notifications, everything is clear - they come to the mail that you specified during registration. To enable phone notifications - go to the menu, select "Settings" - section "Settings for mobile devices".

In the next window, select your country and enter your mobile phone number.

After entering the phone number, click the "Send verification code" button. A message with a verification code should come to your phone. Enter the received code in the appropriate form and "Complete the setup", then click "Save".

The time for which you will be notified before each event is configured at the stage of creating an event.

To disable SMS notifications, go to the main page of the electronic diary. On the left, open the drop-down list "My calendars" - select your calendar and in the menu that opens, go to "Reminders and notifications".

Uncheck the boxes next to SMS settings and save the changes.

If you're looking for a free electronic day planner, Google Calendar is a good organizer.

Schedulers became the category of programs that firmly entered the life of people with a tight schedule, and then significantly simplified their interface, "going down" to the mass consumer. A dozen years ago, there were no visible alternatives to Microsoft Outlook, but now there may be less functional, but easier-to-use analogues. Not so long ago, these applications acquired a web interface (that is, within a separate site), that is, they became available from any computer, provided they had access to the Web and knowledge of their account data. Their most striking representative is Google Calendar, which has won millions of users.

There are many reasons for the success of the program. First, Google Calendar supports multiple platforms. Regardless of what class your device is - a smartphone, tablet or computer, and more recently - also a smart watch - access to scheduled events will be provided, you don't even have to go to the official website for it. In addition, the operating system also does not matter: iOS, Android, Windows Phone are supported, as well as the desktop version and even the archaic Windows Mobile. There are also add-ons to browsers, but using them is associated with working with the software itself, and the functionality of the Google calendar is not designed for a complete replacement, but for the role of an appendage - the Internet is already at hand.

But there are a number of solutions that allow you to get the functionality of the Google Calendar application on your desktop, so as not to go to the site every time to perform a simple action. Google itself did not bother to release such solutions, but enthusiasts coped with it, having implemented everything in the form of a forgotten feature that appeared in Windows Vista - widgets. The solution from third-party developers, which is strange, has much more settings than a regular calendar in the OS, and the resource consumption remains the same.

Installation and configuration

In order to take advantage of such a convenient solution, you need to visit the developer's website and download the Google Calendar archive file. Next, you need to unpack it by installing a file with the .gadget extension, which is standard in Windows. There can be many files in the archive - we will be interested in the one with the name of the Google company in English and the word "Calendar" in its name.

You can access the calendar settings only through your account. If you don't have it,.

First, in the settings, we include our main scheduler in the list of those that can be edited and changed. Next, we find the item "Private address" and select the one that has iCal. Having copied it from the site using the Ctrl + C combination or the "Copy Link" context menu item, we go to the gadget settings and paste our data into the text field on top. There you can also set the refresh rate (in minutes) and the theme: there is an opinion that it is worth trying to choose the most convenient skin for yourself so that it matches the style of the Windows desktop as much as possible. Additional appearances for Google Calendar can be downloaded from the developer's official website.

How do I create a new calendar event?

On the google calendar widget itself, the days will be displayed in the same font, but those that contain assigned events will be highlighted or in a slightly bolder font. A more detailed description of the event will be available by a simple single click on the day - the name of the event, the dates of its start and end and the mark left by the user (you) will be displayed there. You can also go to the site there, but for this you need to use a third-party browser such as Mozilla or Chrome, setting them as default.

Creating a new event in Google calendar is as easy as viewing the previous one - you just need to click on the date of interest and click on the add icon. All events are indicated and displayed on absolutely all devices that are synchronized with your account, and you should not wait for any problems with the display - everything goes to the server, the website and is displayed in third-party clients for smartphones and PCs. You can also play with the settings of the shell itself for widgets: you can make the display of the widget ubiquitous, or under open active windows - only on the Windows desktop.

Conclusion

The Google calendar widget is a great example of when the corporation itself did not bother to release an application on the Windows desktop, and a third-party developer took the time to make a quality product. The application for the desktop is absolutely free, which is surprising: the archive contains about a hundred more widgets, for which the programmer does not ask for a penny without fail - you can send him a donation in gratitude for his efforts on the official website specified in the settings.

There are quite a few solutions in the segment of software for planning and organizing affairs. These products can be divided into two groups that are not mutually exclusive - task schedulers and calendars. This article will focus on the most popular representative of the second group - Google Calendar - namely, on the intricacies of setting up and using it on a computer and phone.

Like most of Google's services, Calendar comes in two versions - a web and mobile application available on Android and iOS devices. Outwardly and functionally, they are in many ways similar, but there are also differences. That is why below we will tell you in detail both about using the web version and about its mobile counterpart.

Web version

You can use all the features of Google Calendar in any browser, for which you just need to follow the link below. If you plan to actively use this web service, we recommend that you save it to your bookmarks.

Note:As an example, the article uses the Google Chrome browser, which is also recommended by Google to gain access to all their services, which is Calendar.

If your web browser uses Google as the main search engine and it also greets you on your home page, you can open Calendar in another, more convenient way.

  1. Click on the button "Google Apps".
  2. From the menu of the company's services that appears, select "The calendar"by clicking on it with the left mouse button (LMB).
  3. If the required shortcut is not in the list, click on the link "Yet" at the very bottom of the pop-up menu and find it there.

Note: Button "Google Apps" is available in almost every web service of the company, so working with one of them, you can always open any other available in just a couple of clicks.

Interface and controls

Before proceeding to consider the main features and nuances of using Google Calendar, let's briefly go through its appearance, controls and main parameters.

  • Most of the web service interface is reserved for the calendar for the current week, but you can change its display if desired.

The following options are available to choose from: day, week, month, year, schedule, 4 days. You can switch between these "intervals" using the arrows pointing to the left and right.

  • To the right of the arrows mentioned above, the selected time period is indicated (month and year, or simply year, depending on the display mode).
  • To the right is the search button, by clicking which opens not only a line for entering text, but also various filters and elements for sorting results become available.

You can search both by events in the calendar and directly in the Google search engine.

  • In the left pane of Google Calendar, there is an additional panel that you can hide or, conversely, activate. It displays the calendar for the current month or the selected month, as well as your calendars that are enabled by default or were added manually.
  • A small block on the right is reserved for add-ons. There are a couple of standard solutions from Google here, and the option to add products from third-party developers is also available.

Organization of events

Using Google Calendar, you can easily create events and events, both one-time (for example, appointments or conferences) and recurring (weekly meetings, electives, etc.). To create an event, you need to do the following:

  1. LMB on the button in the form of a red circle with a white plus sign inside, which is located in the lower right corner of the calendar.
  2. Give a name for the future event, define its start and end date, specify the time. Additionally, you can assign a reminder period ( "All day") and its repetition or lack thereof.
  3. Further, if desired, you can specify "Event details", indicating the location, adding a video conference (via Hangouts), setting a time for notification (the period before the start of the event). Among other things, you can change the color of the event in the calendar, determine the busy status of the organizer and add a note, in which, for example, you can specify a detailed description, add files (image or document).
  4. By switching to the tab "Time", you can double-check the previously specified value or set a new, more accurate one. This can be done both using special tabs and directly in the calendar field, presented in the form of a thumbnail.
  5. If you are creating a public event, that is, someone else will participate in it besides you, "Add guests"by entering their email addresses (GMail contacts are automatically synchronized). Additionally, you can define the rights of invited users by specifying whether they can edit the event, invite new attendees, and see a list of those you have invited.
  6. When you have finished creating the event and making sure that you have provided all the necessary information (although it can always be edited), click on the button "Save".

If you “invited” guests, you will additionally need to agree to send them an invitation by e-mail or, conversely, refuse to do so.

  7. The created event will appear in the calendar, taking place according to the date and time you specified.

To view the details and possible editing, just click on it with the left mouse button.

Create reminders

Events created in Google Calendar can be "accompanied" with reminders so you don't forget about them. This is done in the process of detailed editing and registration of the event, which we considered in the third step of the previous part of the article. In addition, you can create reminders of any topic that are not related to events or complement them. For this:

  1. Click LMB in the area of \u200b\u200bGoogle Calendar that corresponds to the date and time of the future reminder.

Note: The date and time of the reminder can be changed both when it is created directly or later.

  2. In the pop-up window that appears, click the button "Reminder"shown in the image below.
  3. Add a title, specify the date and time, and define the repeat options (available options: do not repeat, daily, weekly, monthly, etc.). Additionally, you can set the "duration" of the reminder - "All day".
  4. After filling in all the fields, click on the button "Save".
  5. The created reminder will be added to the calendar according to the date and time you specified, and the height of the "card" will correspond to its duration (in our example, it is 30 minutes).

To view the reminder and / or edit it, just click on it with LMB, after which a pop-up window with details will open.

Adding calendars

Depending on the categories, entries made in Google Calendar are grouped into different, strange as it may sound, calendars. You can find them in the side menu of the web service, which, as we have already established with you, can be easily hidden if necessary. Let's go briefly through each of these groups.

Among other things, you can add a friend's calendar to the list of calendars, however, without his consent, this will not work. To do this, enter his email address in the appropriate field, and then "Request access" in the pop-up window. Then it just remains to wait for confirmation from the user.

You can add new ones to the list of available calendars. This is done by clicking the plus sign to the right of the friend's invitation field, after which it remains to select the appropriate value from the menu that appears.

Sharing capabilities

Like many Google services (such as Docs), Calendar can also be used for collaboration. If necessary, you can open access both to the entire content of your calendar, and to its individual categories (discussed above). This can be done in just a few clicks.

  • In the options menu that opens, select "Settings and Sharing", after which you can choose one of the two available options plus the third, one might say, global. Let's consider each of them in more detail.
  • Public calendar (accessible by link).

Note:Providing access via a link to personal data such as a calendar is far from the safest action and can entail negative consequences. You can get more detailed information on this issue. We recommend that you open access to specific users, only relatives or colleagues at work, which we will discuss below.

  • Access for individual users.
A much safer solution would be to open access to the calendar to specific users whose contacts are contained in the address book. That is, it can be your relatives or colleagues.
    • All in the same section Sharing Settings, into which we got in the second step of this manual, scroll through the list of available options to the block "Access for individual users" and click on the button "Add Users".
    • Enter the email address of the person you want to share your calendar with.

There may be several such users, just enter their mailboxes one by one in the appropriate field or select an option from the list that appears with prompts.
    • Determine what they will have access to: information about free time, information about events, whether they can make changes to events and make them available to other users.
    • When finished with presetting, press "Send", after which the selected user or users will receive an invitation from you by mail.

By accepting it, they will have access to the piece of information and opportunities that you have opened for them.
• This is where we will finish reviewing the sharing options in Google Calendar, but if you wish, you can delve into the additional options of this section of the web service.

      Integration with applications and services

Recently, Google has linked its Calendar to the Google Keep service and integrated a relatively new Tasks application into it. The first one allows you to create notes and is in essence a mirror of a similar service of the company, which is probably well known to many users. The second one provides the ability to create a list of tasks, being a functionally limited To-Do-list.

      Google Notes
Working with Google Calendar, you can often face the need to quickly write down important information somewhere or just mark something for yourself. It is for these purposes that this addition is provided. You can use it as follows:

      Tasks
The Tasks module has a much higher value when working with Google Calendar, since the entries made to it, provided the due dates are added to them, will be shown in the main application.

      1. Click on the Tasks application icon and wait a few seconds for its interface to load.
      2. Click on the inscription "Add task"

and write it in the appropriate field, then click "ENTER".

      3. To add a due date and subtask (s), the created record must be edited, for which there is a corresponding button.
      4. You can add additional information to the task, change the list to which it belongs (by default, this is "My tasks"), indicate the due date and add subtasks.
      5. The edited and supplemented record, if you specify the due date in it, will be placed on the calendar. Unfortunately, you can only add the due day, not the exact time or interval.
      6. As you might expect, this entry will fall into the category of calendars. "Tasks", which, if necessary, can be hidden by simply unchecking the checkbox.

Note: Besides the list "My tasks", you can create new ones, for which this web application has a separate tab.

      Adding new web applications
In addition to the two services from Google, add-ons from third-party developers can be added to the calendar. True, at the time of this writing (October 2018), literally a few of them have been created, but according to the assurances of the developers, this list will be constantly updated.

      1. Click on the plus sign and shown in the image below.
      2. Wait until the “G Suite Marketplace” (add-on store) interface is loaded in a separate window, and select the component that you plan to add to your Google Calendar.

      3. On the page with its description, click "Install",
      4. and then "Proceed" in the pop-up window.

      5. In the browser window that will open over the Calendar, select the account to integrate the new web application.

Review the list of requested permissions and click "Allow".

      6. After a few seconds, the add-on you selected will be installed, click "Done",

then you can close the pop-up window.

      7. Additional functionality of Google Calendar, implemented in the form of branded and third-party web applications, at this stage of its existence clearly leaves much to be desired. And yet, it is quite possible to find a worthy application directly to Notes and Tasks.

      Importing entries from other calendars

In the part of this article about "Adding calendars", we have already mentioned in passing the possibility of importing data from other services. Let's take a closer look at how this function works.

Note: Before proceeding with the import, you need to prepare and save the file with them yourself, creating it in the calendar from which you want to see entries in the Google application in the future. The following formats are supported: iCal and CSV (Microsoft Outlook).

      1. Click on the plus sign above the list "My calendars".
      2. From the menu that appears, select the last item - "Import".
      3. On the page that opens, click on the button "Select a file on your computer".
      4. In the system window "Explorer"that will open, navigate to the location of the CSV or iCal file previously exported from another calendar. Highlight it and press "Open".
      5. After making sure that the file has been added successfully, click "Import".

In the pop-up window, check the number of events added to Google Calendar and click "OK" to close it.

      6. Returning to your calendar, you will see the events imported into it, and the date and time of their holding, along with all other information, will correspond to those that you set earlier in another application.
