Xperia L. Sony Xperia L1: specifications and reviews. Information about the dimensions and weight of the device, presented in different units of measurement. Materials used, offered colors, certificates

Sony Xperia L1 is a new model of a budget smartphone, presented completely spontaneously and without any loud announcements. The main features of the smartphone: 5.5-inch display, an updated design concept, its budget orientation, and therefore the corresponding characteristics. Despite the name, Xperia L1 can hardly be called an ideological continuation of the Xperia L.

The appearance of the Sony Ikspelia L1 smartphone, as expected, is made in a single concept with all the new products of 2017. Smooth edges smoothly flow into the sidewalls. The body is made of plastic, there is no metal power button here - instead of it there is an oblong button, like in the Xperia E5. We get an elegant outwardly, but a budget device inside with a 5.5-inch screen, rather thin side frames, but at the same time not the smallest overall dimensions.

Despite the large screen, its resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels may not be enough by today's standards. The Xperia L1 received a 4-core MediaTek MT6737T chipset with a frequency of 1.45 GHz and a Mali-T720 MP2 video, 2 gigabytes of RAM, an internal storage of 16 GB, which can be expanded with microSD memory cards up to 256 GB, a battery capacity of 2620 mAh ( Qnovo's software feature is also present). A module with a 13-megapixel sensor is used as the main camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera, there is no mechanical shutter button. Out of the box, the Android 7.0 system will be preinstalled with branded applications Xperia Tips, Xperia Actions, Smart Cleaner and others.

In general, the smartphone came out as a compromise. An interesting strict design can attract users, but people who are inexperienced in technical stuffing will become buyers. But even here a lot will depend on pricing. It is scheduled to go on sale at the end of April.

Classmates

Android control of many smartphones is becoming absolutely familiar, so the appearance of the new Xperia L1 at Sony does not raise doubts about the quality of work. The seventh version of the OS is perfectly combined with other technical achievements, especially since the touchscreen has a decent size. The new development can be compared with the existing Asus Zenfone 3 Laser ZC551KL, Lenovo K6 Note or Apple iPhone 6s Plus and others. It is somewhat inferior to some devices, and even surpasses in some moments. Details about Sony Xperia L1 set out below.

First impression

The clear strict lines of a solid smartphone made in the form of a candy bar can attract the attention of a business person or a successful businessman. Having nothing superfluous in the design approach, the device is equipped with a 5.5-inch display with 16M colors and a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels. The dark background of the screen saver can be easily replaced with bright colors of the user-friendly interface. Easy-to-change pages allow you to find the necessary icons or initiate calls to subscribers. There is nothing superfluous either on the front or on the rear panel, only the eyes of the video modules. All mechanical rockers and switch buttons are placed on the side edges.

What is inside

IPS-LCD display reliably covers the electronic filling Sony Xperia L1, the platform of which is the seventh Android. The four cores of the Mediatek processor and the equally powerful Mali accelerator ensure smooth operation of the entire system. for speed indicators, it is important how much memory is in the gadget. For the operational part, 2 GB is provided, and for the built-in one - 16 gigs, but the latter is easy to expand with a 256 GB microcard. This significantly expands the space for archival data, storing the necessary information. The presence of two SIM cards provides communication with subscribers from two operators, and SMS and mms messages come to the phone without hindrance thanks to wireless applications.

The smartphone is given the opportunity to think for itself, the Smart Cleaner option is activated, which is responsible for optimizing the performance of the device. With the video modules, everything is also in order, because at the owner's hand there is a 13 megapixel main camera with a three-fold Clear Image zoom and a 5 megapixel front camera. Conveniently accompanied by flashlights make photos clear and beautiful, and selfie time an unforgettable adventure.

And finally, the energy supply depends on the battery, the capacity of which on the new Sony development is 2620 mAh. All the best that could be connected is in the Sony Xperia L1.

Sony Xperia L2 received an updated design, which recognizes the corporate identity of the company. In our opinion, the phone is not that beautiful, but it's a matter of taste.

The front panel of the smartphone is, as it were, in a small depression - due to the frames, slightly rising around the perimeter. Interestingly, compared to its predecessor, the bezel has become thinner at the top and, on the contrary, slightly increased at the bottom. Why such metamorphoses is not clear, but, as they say, the sum of such a permutation of the terms has not changed. The control buttons could well be placed on the bottom frame, but they are not there, they have found their place on the bottom of the display.

The rear panel has become slightly convex and received the same perimeter frame. She also underwent rearrangements - the camera lens increased and moved from the corner closer to the middle. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back, which Sony usually forgot about in budget models. But now you just won't forget about it, when it is found in almost every ultra-budget phone for six thousand rubles and cheaper.

The dimensions of the phone are 150 × 78 × 9.8 mm, and the weight is 178 grams. Thick and heavy, it is slightly shorter, but wider than the inexpensive one. Low-cost body materials - polycarbonate without the use of metal.

The Sony Xperia L2 will be available in three colors: black, gold and pink.

Screen

The Sony Xperia L2 has a large, but not the clearest 5.5-inch screen. It has only HD-resolution (1280x720 pixels), which is not enough for a clear picture. The pixel density is low at only 267 ppi, but you'll only notice if you're already spoiled for crisp displays. There is no more information about the screen, except for the presence of a protective glass Gorilla Glass and high brightness up to 500 nits.

Cameras

The Sony Xperia L2 has quite typical 13 and 8 MP cameras for its level. You can't call it a camera phone, but it's quite suitable for passing shots.

The manufacturer has revealed some data about the cameras, from which we can say that there is nothing unusual about the cameras. So, the main one uses a sensor of a typical size (1 / 3.1 ″) and an aperture of medium width (f / 2.0). The only feature that was mentioned is the ability to raise ISO up to 3200. There is also a certain "high-quality 3x digital zoom", but it's hard to believe in that.

The front camera is also average-typical. Yes, it has 8 MP at once, but the sensor itself is not that big (1/4 ″), and the aperture is "dark" (f / 2.4), but a wide viewing angle (120 degrees).

Communications

It is curious that the Xperia L2 is equipped with a completely non-budget set of communications:

  • dual band Wi-Fi a / b / g / n
  • support for LTE Cat. 4 (up to 150 Mbps)
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • nFC chip
  • FM radio
  • A-GPS.

For an entry-level model, that's more than enough. There's even a modern USB Type-C connector and a separate. The smartphone will be available in two versions, one and two SIM-cards. True, this also means that the slot for the second will be combined: either additional communication or additional memory.

Battery

One of the important (if not the only) improvements to the new product is the increased battery capacity. Previously, it was frivolous for 5.5 inches 2620 mAh, and now it has grown to an adequate 3300 mAh. For comparison, the y has 3000 mAh and the y has 4100 mAh. The manufacturer does not announce any specific numbers, but the phone should be enough for a day and a half.

Performance

The performance of the Xperia L2 has remained on par with its predecessor, i.e. below average.

The new product uses not the newest quad-core Mediatek MT6737T chipset, exactly the same was used in the Xperia L1. You shouldn't expect any miracles from it, most likely, the interface will work smoothly, and most games will work normally only at low graphics settings. Yes, there is 3 GB of RAM at once, but this will allow, rather, to keep "in mind" several applications.

Features:

The Sony Xperia L2 is nothing out of the ordinary, except for the proprietary design and interface. The phone works on and it is not clear whether it will receive an update to the eight. It's a pity, because the one presented at the same time comes out on Android Oreo.

Memory

They decided not to save on the memory of the Sony Xperia L2, here it is enough: 32 GB of constant and 3 GB of RAM. For a budget-level model, this is very worthy, moreover, it can be expanded in microSD format (up to 256 GB).

Price

The start of sales of the smartphone is expected in January-February 2018, but the date of its appearance in Russia is still unknown. Also, its price has not been announced, but its predecessor, Sony Xperia L1 costs an average of 13 thousand rubles, you can expect that the new product will cost more. And this is already a lot for, in general, a state employee.

Sony Xperia L1: characteristics of the new budget. In our Sony Xperia L1 review, we analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the smartphone and assess its overall potential.

Sony has introduced another novelty - the Sony Xperia L1 smartphone. The characteristics do not strike the imagination, but the smartphone is also positioned as a representative of the budget segment for fans of large phones. No unnecessary ambition. No claims of kinship with flagships. Market success will largely depend on the price of the Sony Xperia L1, which has yet to be announced.

Sony Xperia L1 review: editor's notes

In our review of the Sony Xperia L1, we'll go over the main features so that the reader considering purchasing a smartphone has a general idea of \u200b\u200bits potential. We will not deliberately look for flaws. The model is focused on the budget segment, and it should not be assessed too strictly.

Chipset... Sony Xperia L1 platform - MediaTek MT6737T... In this regard, the characteristics of the smartphone Sony Xperia L1 disappoint, even with a discount on the "budget". The chipset is not the fastest in the budget segment, and it is manufactured using a 28nm process technology, which increases battery consumption and heating in demanding applications.

Core clock speeds are reduced to 1.45 GHz; this smooths out rough edges and allows for a slightly better battery life. At least, if you do not watch HD video on a screen with the same resolution for hours.

The cores are built on the Harvard architecture. Reference, "standard" ARM kernels Cortex 53 optimized for maximum energy efficiency. Their main task is to provide optimal speed of applications with minimal battery consumption, and this should add a couple of points in the rating of autonomy.

Graphics accelerator... The review of the Sony Xperia L1 continues the graphics subsystem. Dual-core adapter Mali-T720MP2 does not allow you to count on high fps in games. It will be possible to run simple toys on the Sony Xperia L1, but it will hardly be possible to play modern games comfortably. And not only because of the weak capacity of the central processor and graphics subsystem.

RAM... The speed of work in games also depends on the amount of RAM. The Sony Xperia L1 has very little of it - only 2 GB... We wrote about. Conservatively, about 3 GB. If the memory belongs to the LPDDR3 type (as in the Sony Xperia L1), then 4 GB is better. Two gigabytes is enough to run multiple applications, but not too heavy. Otherwise, crashes and lags are almost inevitable.

Inner memory... Internal memory 16 GB... Any comments are superfluous. Enough to store a small collection of music tracks and photos, no more. On the other hand, there is a microSD slot with support for memory cards up to 256 GB, which solves the problem of a shortage of free disk space.

Sony Xperia L1: display and battery specifications

Sony Xperia L1 received a large display with a resolution 1280 x 720 pixels... With the diagonal 5.5 inches we get a pixel density in the region of 267 ppi. Not much. The usable screen area is 74.6% of the front panel area, which is not bad overall. Matrix type - IPS LCD. The standard choice for a Japanese manufacturer, nobody really counted on Amoled.

But the battery pumped up - 2620 mAh... Not enough. It is difficult to count on high autonomy, especially on the 28 nm platform. With standard use, the smartphone will last for one daylight hours. Economical Cortex 53 cores at low operating frequencies partly compensate for the lack of battery capacity, but only partly.

If autonomy is a priority, 2620 mAh is a serious reason to think. (However, the battery is even weaker - 2300 mAh.) Of interest, we note the support of the Sony Xperia L1 for Qnovo's adaptive charging technology, which prevents premature battery wear.

Camera

Super slow-mo, as in the concept, is not here, of course. As there is no modern Exmor RS sensor. Camera module resolution 13 MP, f / 2.2 aperture... You can count on normal picture quality in good lighting conditions. In poor lighting, noise will appear and detail will drop sharply.

Front camera on 5 megapixels... On the one hand, today it is literally the lower limit of the norm. On the other hand, even the newest one received a 5 megapixel front camera. Enough or not, decide for yourself.

Android, interface, wireless technology

operating system... Sony Xperia L1 will be controlled by the operating system Android 7.0 Nougathidden behind Sony's proprietary user interface.

Modem... Wireless communication is provided by an LTE Cat.4 modem. The download speed is limited to 150 Mbps, the data transfer rate is up to 50 Mbps.

Interface... Of the advantages of Sony Xperia L1, we note the interface USB Type-C... Not all representatives of the budget and middle price segment have switched to the new interface. For example, they continue to be faithful to microUSB, which is rather strange considering the cost of smartphones (especially).

Sony Xperia L1: design, dimensions, colors

The design of the Sony Xperia L1 is not much different from what the Japanese have taught us long ago. A strict plastic rectangle with clear contours, without a hint of smoothness and fluidity of lines. The side frames are small, but the lower and upper ones are simply huge by modern standards. Why Sony continues to make such giant frames remains a mystery.

Case dimensions 151 x 74 x 8.7 mm. The Sony Xperia L1 is not a thin smartphone, nor is it light - it weighs 180 grams. The color scheme is typical for state employees - black, white and, for a change, pink.

Sony Xperia L1: release date and price

The Sony Xperia L1 release date is scheduled for the second half of April. The smartphone is planned to be presented in many markets, including European, so we are waiting for it in stores in the CIS countries.

The price of Sony Xperia L1 has not yet been specified, and this is the main intrigue. Will the Japanese be able to offer a competitive and attractive price? If not, the Sony Xperia L1 smartphone will gather dust on the shelves and warehouses next to the Xperia XZ and other models of the brand with not the happiest market destiny.

Sony Xperia Z was thus proof that the giant Japanese concern is able to release a smartphone that can compete on equal terms with the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4, and today the company is aiming to take the opposite part of the market with its Sony Xperia L - focused on those whose budget is not able to pull the massive Z, but still wants to have at least some of the functions typical of more expensive devices on his smartphone. Let's carry out sony Xperia L review to find out if it's true that it is one of the best budget phones out there.

Advantages: An impressive camera for this price point. Looks like an expensive smartphone. Presence of the STAMINA battery saving mode.

Disadvantages: Beveled body edges. Immunity of the touch screen. There is no Bravia Engine for the display.

Design

Essentially replacing the Sony Xperia J announced last year, the Xperia L borrows design cues from the long-standing Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc with a matte curved back, but sits completely differently in the hand than the Xperia Z with its glossy glass finish.

Available in black, white and red colors, the L weighs 137 grams, which is marginally lighter than the Z, but at 9.7 mm thick it is not the thinnest, although, admittedly, it is quite thin and comfortable for carrying in a pocket, and for holding in hand. The curved back cover can detach from the main bezel, giving access to a removable battery and microSD card, but don't remove the cover too often as it doesn't feel super-robust. In front, under a 4.3-inch display with a rather large width of facets, which, as it may seem to someone, has a too sharp bevel, and if you usually hold your finger in this place, then such a beveled edge will most likely not be very comfortable.

Sony has retained the location of the aluminum power button as in the Xperia Z - on the right side of the smartphone, the same aluminum strip stretches along the entire perimeter of the case. There is also a plastic volume switch and a dedicated camera shutter button, so you no longer need to press the screen to take a shot. At the top is a 3.5mm headphone jack, and on the left side panel is a micro USB port, which is also used for charging.

There is also a narrow LED strip that glows when any notification is received.

Sony Xperia L screen

The Xperia L boasts a stunning 4.3-inch FWVGA display with a resolution of 854x480 at 228 PPI, but most of all it lacks the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology, which enabled the Xperia Z to deliver rich images with good detail for watching videos. The level of clarity is still quite impressive, comparable to similar Android offerings such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, even though it lacks the liveliness of its more expensive models in the series.

Continuing sony Xperia L review , which is known to evaluate both positive and negative points, we note that in terms of the sensitivity of the touch screen when typing and viewing, we had a problematic experience, especially when using the virtual keyboard, with which we were forced to constantly check the correctness of the displayed on screen letters. I also found that sometimes it was necessary to duplicate the swiping of the home pages or pages of Google Chrome, since the first time the screen might not respond. It is worth noting that although the screen is protected against scratches, it still leaves visible fingerprints on itself.

Specifications

The main focus of the smartphone is definitely the 8-megapixel camera on the back, framed in a silver ring, which serves to protect the camera if you put the phone on the surface with the camera down. The camera is equipped with an Exmor RS sensor, whose task is to improve the quality of images in low light conditions, digital zoom with 4x zoom, autofocus and HDR mode, which is suitable for both video and still images.

The images captured certainly can't compete with premium phones, but the images captured with the L are sharp, detailed, and a little bit noisy, which means you can definitely replace your compact camera for everyday photography. Video recording is only in 720p HD (for comparison, the SP shoots in 1080p), and the 0.3MP front-facing VGA camera designed for video chats was not impressive.

Equipping the smartphone with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean version, which can be updated to 4.2, Sony has supplemented the operating system from Google, as it did with the Xperia Z, due to which the number of its own services has increased, such as the famous WALKMAN application, but several bulky offers have appeared, such like Sony Select. The pre-installed programs, of course, affect the amount of internal memory - out of the declared 8 GB, only 5.8 GB remain. However, there is the possibility of expanding it via a microSD card up to 32 GB, which means more space for storing your data, but for additional money.

In addition to Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, Sony has provided the Xperia L with NFC, DLNA and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, which means you can stream your photos, video and audio files to compatible Sony players and TVs.

Sony Xperia L performance

The 2-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB of RAM is more than capable of handling video streaming and graphics-intensive games like Real Racing 3 without any glitches or lags. It may take a while for some applications, both native and downloaded from Google Play, to launch, but once launched, they run smoothly and without freezing.

Battery

The 1700 mAh battery hidden under the back cover, according to Sony, should provide about 8 hours of talk time and intensive use of the smartphone during the day (streaming data, games and the Internet). And these are not just words, the battery did not really disappoint. As in the Xperia Z, the tested phone has the ability to increase the battery life by activating the STAMINA mode, which turns off the mobile data transfer during standby mode and performs several more actions aimed at reducing power consumption; in this case, charging is enough for more than a day.

Conclusion on the Sony Xperia L

The Sony Xperia L is far from the Xperia Z, but it doesn't have to be. But he tried to borrow many of the great features from the aforementioned Sony flagship phone and implement their cheaper body, which allowed the Xperia L to become more affordable for the consumer and, overall, look decent. The 8-megapixel camera is expertly crafted, and the build quality is surprisingly decent, despite the unconvincing, too sharply beveled facet. There are problems with the responsiveness of the touchscreen and some slowness when performing simple tasks. Ending sony Xperia L review , we have to summarize that if you are in the mood for a Sony smartphone, but the size and cost of Model Z does not suit you, we would probably recommend considering the Sony Xperia SP.
