I can call myself so old that I remember when LG was doing very mediocre in terms of smartphones, but now everything is straight forward and promising. And this did not happen overnight, it was preceded by many successful models. The fact is that even a manufacturer who makes very mediocre devices gets something useful from time to time. But more often than not, this is where it ends. LG began to grow, it seems to me, with the Nexus 4. At that moment, many were skeptical about changing the manufacturer of the reference line of smartphones on Android, but it came out very good and it is still incredibly stylish.

After him were the successful L line and others. In general, the strategy was chosen correctly and today, after the start of sales of the new flagship smartphone G3, in some countries it is selling better than the strongest of this market. And all because LG does not try to balance on the edge, releasing flagships, it seems, but not trying to do something unusual. LG wanted and made both the G2 and G3 unique in many ways. In this case, we got a 2K display (QHD), and LG was the first to release a smartphone with it among the A-brands. Who needs it - this is the second question. Also, the focusing system has changed significantly, the new product is not just software improvements, but an IR sensor that focuses almost instantly. Also, the G3 is one of the seemingly three smartphones on the market that can be purchased with 3 GB of RAM.

Design and ergonomics

I'll start with the case. He, like in the second generation, is plastic. I don't know why, but the manufacturer emphasizes that plastic here imitates metal. Several layers are applied on top of ordinary plastic, including the last one - ribbed. But, in fact, this is exactly plastic, and we see all kinds of imitations all the time, so I did not quite understand why focus on such trifles. The only thing is that it was this texture of the plastic that made many speculate whether the smartphone would be metal, after its first photos appeared on the Internet.

The case is now disassembled, although if you try, you can disassemble the G2 too. However, despite this, the assembly, it seems to me, has become even better. My G2 was monolithic and there were no complaints about it at all, however, many complained about creaks and backlash. This is not the case in the G3. I twisted the smartphone, squeezed it and tested it for rigidity and I can't say anything bad. Unlike Sony's monolithic Z2, the G3 doesn't flex with the same amount of effort. I am also glad that the plastic is not as glossy as in its predecessor and does not collect fingerprints as well. It is much more pleasant to hold in your hands.

LG is almost the only one to continue the trend of smaller bezels around the display. This year the SGS5 and HTC One M8 picked up something that some didn't like. In G3, the display area is 72% of the front side, which is a lot. There are practically no frames on the sides and it is striking. As before, this result was achieved by moving the volume control keys and locking the display from the sides to the back.

At the back, as in the G2, there is a volume rocker, inside which is a display lock button with an LED. Squeezing the lower one starts the camera from the locked state, the upper one - QuickMemo. I am glad that it is possible to reconfigure this key. Also on the back is a 13MP main camera, flash and IR sensor for fast focusing. At the bottom of the back cover there is a slot for the speaker, which sounds rather mediocre compared to the competition. Especially when compared with the Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One of the first and second generations.

Under the back cover there is a battery, a slot for a memory card and a SIM card. By the way, the back cover of the G3 has a built-in Qi-standard wireless charging module, while the smartphone is quite thin - 8.8 mm.

By the way, yes, in the new generation, unlike the G2, you can replace the battery on the go, add memory if the built-in is not enough and replace the cover if it gets scratched. Practical.

On the front side there is a 5.5 ″ display, earpiece, front 2.1 MP camera and the manufacturer's logo below.

On the upper side there is an infrared port and a microphone for noise cancellation, on the bottom there are connectors for a headset and for a MicroUSB cable.

In the case, I was pleased with almost everything: the design is attractive, the assembly is of high quality, the infrared port for controlling the equipment has not gone anywhere, moreover, now you can insert a memory card. Unfortunately, the G3 didn’t come with a moisture protection like SGS5 and Z2, which would be very helpful.

Display

Compared to the G2, the display has grown from 5.2 ″ to 5.46 ″. In addition, the resolution has also increased - up to QHD (2560x1440). With such a diagonal and resolution, the pixel density is an incredible 538 ppi. And now, attention, the question: "Why?" Not that I was old-fashioned or afraid of changes, but I don't see any reason to make a resolution higher than Full HD on such a diagonal. For tablets it is more than understandable, but in a smartphone, it seems to me, this is only a rise in price and an increase in energy consumption. At LG's presentation, they showed how pixels become distinguishable when a specific area of \u200b\u200bthe screen is enlarged, but the human eye is not able to zoom a picture, and when viewing an image from the closest possible distance, pixels are not visible even at a density of 440 dpi. Well, lano, the main thing is that LG made such a display the first among the A-brands.

But for me, the main thing was different, how the display behaves at different angles. And, fortunately, it did not take over the problems of the G2 and Nexus 5 - the blacks became much richer, and the viewing angles were almost maximized. Excluding AMOLED-matrices, which have such a priori, only HTC One is better. That is, in all parameters that are clearly visible to the eye and affect the user experience, the G3's display has improved in quality. Speaking of brightness, it is not the highest among competitors, but there is enough to use the device even on a sunny day - the information is discernible. But the unpleasant moment is the excessive software sharpness of the text, which is expressed in light outlines around the fonts, it did not interfere with me reading from the display, however, it seems that something is wrong with the matrix. It is good that this effect is observed only in the text, perhaps it will be removed.

Camera

The matrix has not changed significantly, the resolution remains the same - 13 MP, and the size - 1 / 3.06 ”. Both the front and rear cameras are made by Sony. The aperture ratio of both is far from the best in the class - 2.4. And now for the good. To begin with, the optical stabilization module was improved and called OIS +. The image is now stabilized 20% better. On the eye I would not say that it is noticeable. But what is immediately noticeable is improved focusing. The stated focusing time is comparable to some other smartphones on the market - 0.267 sec. However, here this indicator corresponds to reality as much as possible, because focusing is carried out using an IR sensor located near the camera.

When you are in camera mode, you see every now and then how the focus points are triggered on various objects. It seems like it happens instantly. And to take a picture, you just need to touch the screen. But it is not so much the focusing speed that is important as its accuracy - the focus never misses.

The quality of the resulting images is very decent. I can't say which is the best, but with SGS5 it is practically on the same level. And in low light, the G3 behaves even better, with both image quality and focus.

Sample photos

Video is recorded in a maximum resolution of 4K (3840x2160 pixels) with a frame rate of 30 per second. It is possible to record SloMo videos in HD resolution at 120 frames per second. Unfortunately, it seems that the latter mode does not work quite correctly, because the real resolution is lower, although 1280x720 pixels are displayed in the properties. I hope they will correct it.

Sample Videos

In general, I was satisfied with the camera. The only thing that will not please power users is that the camera interface has reduced all kinds of manual settings, now everything is as simple as possible. Just like the iPhone. Almost.

Specifications and software

If in G2 everything was in order in terms of hardware, and the software often failed, then in the new product everything was corrected. We slightly upgraded the hardware and heavily doped all the software. Many expected that the processor in the new product would be a new one - Snapdragon 805, however, there is installed, although also fresh, but the 801st c 330 Adreno. Why is that bad? Like nothing. In theory, it seemed that the processor would be strained in heavy games, such as MC4, because the display resolution is huge, but this did not happen. The interface is also fast, in general, there were no questions. The only thing is heating, it was not shared anywhere. The smartphone still often does not allow the display brightness to be raised to maximum due to overheating.

Outwardly, this is not so noticeable, but the smartphone knows better. RAM - 2 GB if the smartphone has 16 GB of storage, and 3 GB if it has 32. There is a slot for a Micro SD memory card.

Battery capacity - 3000 mAh. The autonomy in a smartphone is good, generally speaking, but in fact, there is no smartphone with good autonomy on the market. Or almost not, I have not seen such. The last few days I have been walking a lot and planning a route in Google Maps, not a single device, even iPad included, lives a day. However, if you use it as a phone: call, write messages and mail, sometimes re-read social networks, take several photos / videos a day, and so on, it will last all day and by the evening there will be another 30 percent charge.

As I said, the software has been finalized. Almost the latest version of Android OS is installed here - 4.4.2, on top of which is the proprietary LG interface, which has become flatter. Its design has become much more pleasant, it is clear that at least the designer worked on it. Everything is designed in one style, there are no menus or standard applications that clearly stand out from the design. Moreover, there are certain concepts followed in all pre-installed apps. For example, they all have different color themes, this is done so that, after a while, the user is visually oriented in which application he is. Branded features such as Knock Code, LG Backup, Security Assistant and more have been preserved. But there were also new solutions. For example, the keyboard has smart predictions and is designed so that you don't have to take your thumbs off the input field. You can also change the height of the keyboard block. There are several new services, like Smart Notice, which will notify you about any events, like Google Now, there is LG Health, Smart Tips, which gives smart advice when using and more. There is only one downside to all this - jams still happen. For example, there are dialers in the application, sometimes with simple scrolling, and so on.

A few years ago, when Android smartphones stepped out of the shadows and began to show clear growth in the market, literally every manufacturer entered the world stage with a stunning flagship designed to sweep all opponents out of their way. Unfortunately, a flagship smartphone is an expensive thing, often too large, not suitable for everyone, therefore, manufacturers, in addition to the main model, began to release their compact versions. Samsung, HTC and other companies produced small gadgets that were visually similar to flagships, but technically significantly inferior to them. LG was no exception, and to reinforce interest in their devices, following the LG G3, they launched the LG G3 s D724 - an ultra-budget, but stylish and technological gadget. The name of the smartphone raises a number of questions. Firstly, the article S evokes associations with the iPhone, where the prefix S stands for an improved version of the phone, and not vice versa. Secondly, LG already has the LG G3 Stylus, a massive stylus-capable device. Nevertheless, the Koreans were not at all embarrassed by these facts.

So, why is this smartphone so remarkable and should we consider it as the main one?

Equipment

In the box you can find:

  • The gadget itself is LG G3 s D724.
  • Accumulator battery.
  • Micro-USB cable for mains power and data synchronization with a computer.
  • Warranty card.

Case design and controls

  • Dimensions: 137x69.6x10.3.
  • Weight: 134 grams.

Visually, the device strongly resembles its older brother. The phone has a rectangular shape with slight curves at the top and bottom (in the manner of the same Nexus, which was created by LG exclusively for Google). The body is made of plastic. A special grinding technology made it possible to give the device a more expensive look - externally (from a distance) the material resembles metal. Unfortunately, this does not affect the tactile sensations in any way - ordinary plastic. The back cover of the device is convex, curved (this way the phone fits better in the hand), rough to the touch, which is why the device holds on more tightly and does not try to jump out of the hand. It is almost impossible to see fingerprints and small scratches on the plastic cover, which is undoubtedly a plus for an inexpensive gadget. Smaller dimensions compared to the older model also played an important role in ergonomics: the phone is easy to grip on both sides. The assembly of the device is at a fairly high level, there are no creaks or backlash, all parts are fitted to each other without gaps, despite the fact that the case is not monolithic.

Almost the entire front panel of the device is occupied by the display, except for a small plastic insert with the company logo at the bottom of the case. On the top edge of the phone is a microphone, on the bottom there is another microphone, a USB port and a headphone jack. The side faces are empty. On the back are: camera, flash, microphone, as well as speaker and basic controls. All keys are located on a small remote in the center of the lid, including the volume rocker. A very specific solution that not many people liked. The SIM card slot and the memory card are hidden under the cover, which is removable in the device.

Communications

Everything here is pretty average. Users get:

  • Support for two SIM cards (standard for 90% of modern Android smartphones).
  • USB 2.0.
  • Bluetooth 4.0.
  • Wi-Fi of the B / N / G standard.
  • Hotspot distribution function.
  • Radio module (regular FM radio, no network connection).
  • Infrared port for TV control.
  • Supported by GPS and GLONASS (more than 6 satellites).

In general, everything is not bad, but there is only one antenna in the gadget, and if one of the SIM cards works in third-generation networks, the second automatically switches to the second. If you have USB 2.0, there is no support for On The Go cables, which means that you will not be able to connect a keyboard or gamepad to your smartphone. NFC is also missing.

Display

Unlike the "adult model", a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels was installed here. The display came out pretty good despite the HD resolution. Stand-alone pixels are barely noticeable, even with a fair amount of effort to detect them, and this at a PPI (pixels per inch) of 293 dots. The display is built on the basis of an IPS-matrix, which means that it reproduces the most believable and natural colors. The color reproduction is pretty good, even, but despite the use of IPS technology, when the device is tilted, the display slightly changes the gamma, and the white balance suffers. Actually from this we conclude that the viewing angles of the smartphone are far from maximum, which is what distinguishes the display from the older model in the first place. The brightness will have to be adjusted manually, there is no light sensor in the smartphone, which is too dull even for a budget model.

Processor and memory

In terms of hardware, you shouldn't expect a miracle in a budget gadget. Phone LG G3, the price of which is less than the average, is no exception and cannot boast of powerful characteristics, therefore, it is worth putting up with what is. The heart of the gadget is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip. The processor has 4 cores on board, each accelerating to 1200 MHz. This is enough for the smooth operation of pure Android, but due to the fact that LG uses its own shell, the interface slows down a little. In fairness, it should be noted that the blame lies on the shoulders of the Korean developers, because they were the ones who could not optimize the software. The chip is manufactured using a 28-nanometer process technology, which has a positive effect on its energy efficiency, and this, in turn, affects the autonomy of the phone. The Adreno 304 is responsible for the graphics performance. The phone copes with almost all modern games, although the heavy ones slip from time to time. Fortunately, on Android, you can lower the quality of the graphics.

Complements the processor with 1 gigabyte of RAM. Even in 2014 it looks like real greed on the part of the manufacturer. This volume is not enough for comfortable work even with basic programs, every time the applications are restarted if you exit them. As for the built-in memory, here the manufacturer gave the owners of the gadget only 300 megabytes of free space and another 8 gigabyte memory card (they support cards up to 32 gigabytes).

Autonomy

The gadget is equipped with a removable 2540 mAh battery. The manufacturer promises up to 24 hours of talk time on a single charge and up to 720 hours of standby time. As a result of independent tests, the smartphone showed the following results:

  • Play HD video for 5 hours.
  • Music playback up to 35 hours.
  • In game mode (only games with complex 3D graphics) up to 3 hours.
  • When surfing Wi-Fi, the phone lasted about 12 hours.

Quite good indicators, and in real mode of use, the phone will easily survive until the evening, and the collapsible design will allow you to quickly replace a discharged battery with a charged one and get even more battery life without additional accessories.

Cameras

The phone is equipped with a front camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels and a front one with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels. There is a one-section flash. The main camera is not happy with the high quality of the picture. The image turns out to be “noisy” even in fairly good lighting, the white balance often lies and goes into excessively warm tones, the detail is weak, and small objects seem to crumble into pieces. The same problem plagues light sources in photographs. Most of these shortcomings are not due to the capabilities of the lens, but to poor quality software. It uses laser autofocus, which allows you to instantly focus on a specific subject, and also improves color reproduction in the dark. The camera can record images in Full HD resolution with a frame rate of 30 fps.

The camera for "selfie" is also not distinguished by something extraordinary, but for most users its capabilities will be enough. It may not be possible to take a beautiful photo of yourself, your loved one, but you can talk on Skype without any problems: the image does not freeze and does not crumble into pixels.

Software

The smartphone runs on Android 4.2.2. It makes no sense to talk about the platform itself, but it's worth talking about a number of features offered by LG.

  • Guest mode is like a second account in Windows. You do not need a password to access it, and the available application and data in it are regulated by the owner of the gadget.
  • Quick Memo is a small utility for taking notes and editing images. Suitable in those situations when you need to fill out a form and send it by mail or visually highlight some element in the picture.
  • QSlide is an unpopular add-on that allows you to display video content over the operating system interface. The problem is that for this feature to work it needs some intervention from the software developers.
  • Knock Mode is another unlocking method that hasn't caught on in the Android world. Allows you to unlock your LG G3 phone using a series of short taps.

- direct competitors of G3 are already being sold with might and main, and we, in turn, have already managed to study them in detail. "G-Three" has just been officially presented, and deliveries to stores should begin in late June or even early July. The approach is wise: the company's engineers have time to study the weaknesses of competitors and prevent the same mistakes in their product - a quarter-long time reserve allows you to do this. In addition, LG, like most other manufacturers, prefers to update the older model once a year - unlike, for example, Sony, which releases a new flagship every six months.

It is important to understand that LG engineers are not updating the device for "show" - they really fix the shortcomings of the predecessor, and we will mention this more than once during thorough testing. The G2 was good. Not even that: he was very good - no one expected that he would turn out like that. And LG G3, in turn, turned out to be even more interesting, and it was clear even from the announcement. Now that you are intrigued and impatient, you can start getting to know the successor to the G2.

⇡ Appearance and ergonomics

Do you know why the author of this material at one time refused to buy such a good and pleasant LG G2? The plastic, glossy and very easily soiled rear panel failed. As a whole, an adult device cannot leave what is called look & feel. Inside, everything is great, but whatever one may say, the smartphone has to be taken in hand - and it was at the very moment when the G2 was in his hands, a clear understanding came that the gadget was not perfect. The rear panel is probably the first thing on the list of changes from the designers of the G3.

Meet LG's new flagship - G3

The "back" here is still plastic, but with a much more pleasant surface finish. There is not even a trace of gloss left - the panel is embossed, textured, and feels almost like real metal to the touch. The main advantage of the material used is its excellent oleophobic properties. The smartphone does not lose its presentation, no matter how much the owner touches it. Fingerprints do not remain on the panel, but even if it gets a little dirty, you can literally clean it of dirt in one move.

LG G3 - official photo

The layout of the G3's controls is the same as that of its predecessor, not typical for Android smartphones. The physical power / lock and volume keys are located on the rear panel, under the lens of the main camera. The location for the amateur - it's good that the programmers have implemented the ability to turn on the device without pressing the appropriate key. It is called KnockCode, and we talked about it in a separate article. Recall that you can exit the "sleep" mode by tapping on the screen. The option is not new - it moved from G2. It is still better to put the smartphone in your pocket with the display facing you to avoid accidental pressing of the hardware keys.

LG G3 - back panel vs. LG G2 back (right)

The main area of \u200b\u200bthe front panel is occupied by a new ultra-clear display with a diagonal of 5.46 inches. The bezels around it are still very thin, so the smartphone is much more compact than other models with screens of similar sizes. Despite the thin bezels, during operation of the device, erroneous touches of the display with the palm of your hand do not occur. There are no hardware keys on the front panel - all buttons are touch-sensitive, they are located directly on the display.

LG G3 - Power and volume keys on the back

LG engineers failed to repeat the trick of the magicians from Samsung, who increased the diagonal of the Galaxy Note 3 display, practically without changing its dimensions relative to its predecessor. The G3 feels a little more elongated compared to the G2, with an increase of eight millimeters in length. However, the device is quite convenient to use. Fortunately, the weight remained at an acceptable level - 149 grams against 143 for its predecessor, and the thickness has completely decreased - from 9.5 mm to 8.9 mm. Thanks to the smooth, streamlined shapes, the smartphone seems even slimmer than it actually is.

LG G3 - bezel vs. LG G2 bezel (right)

The SlimPort interface (micro-USB 2.0 + video output in one connector) and a universal audio jack for connecting a wired headset are placed on the bottom end. On the top is an infrared port. Two microphones, with the help of which the active noise cancellation system is implemented, are placed on vertical edges. A metal-styled edging runs along all ends of the case.

LG G3 - sides

The "back" of the device is removable. Under it is a 3000 mAh battery and slots for micro-SIM and microSD located above each other.

LG G3 without back panel

We have no complaints about the assembly and appearance of the device. The gadget looks strict and attractive - what the flagship needs. During testing, we did not find any backlash, even when checking for curl and kink, we did not see anything embarrassing or suspicious.

Review of the flagship smartphone LG G3: perfection in the details

The first thing that strikes at the first glance is the screen, which, as you know, is a kind of “face” of any smartphone. With the G3 being the world's first smartphone with a 1440 x 2560 (Quad HD) screen, the picture looks incredibly clear and realistic. Many companies would consider this advantage sufficient to release a new generation product, but LG did not stop there. For the first time, a smartphone is equipped with a revolutionary camera with laser autofocus, thanks to which the smartphone focuses faster than any other competitor on the market. At the same time, we all know how important it is to quickly catch the subject in focus. How many frames were spoiled by the sluggishness of smartphone electronics?

Finally, the portrait of the revolutionary is complemented by an innovative design with a metallized coating effect and a record battery life, which was achieved by using a capacious 3000 mAh battery. All this can be characterized by the formula "perfection of simple solutions."

The dimensions of the device are 146.3 x 74.6 mm, with a thickness of 8.9 mm. Weight - 150 grams, which seems even a very modest figure, given the screen diagonal. Just think, five and a half inches! Until recently, smartphones with a similar display size were seen as an unviable solution, fulfilling a pioneering mission from the field of daring experiments, requiring a pen to enter information and certainly not for one-handed operations. However, engineering solutions that allowed to reduce the thickness of the side frames and the device itself, software settings that minimize false alarms, allowed us to make sure that 5.46 inches is just right for the right smartphone. The novelty LG G3 also inherited the main design feature of its predecessor, namely: external controls are located on the back of the device, while the On / Off button is located between the volume keys. This makes a certain sense - it is almost impossible to miss when adjusting the volume. And you get used to the placement of the power button quickly enough. In general, the appearance only benefits from this.

The front panel is not overloaded with any controls - only glass, the thinnest black frames around the edges, the upper part with a speaker grill, a window for the front camera, optical sensors and an insert in the lower part that matches the backrest color. All this is in the smooth contours of the light edging for metal.

The back is made of textured metal, slightly rough plastic. The back is slightly arched and fits very comfortably in the palm of your hand. At the same time, even when you just slide your finger in the direction of the button, it is tactilely pleasant. In the middle of the upper part there is an older camera module (with a dual flash on the right and a laser rangefinder window on the left, covered with plastic, which we can often see in IR remote controls for home appliances). At the bottom left is a thin, neat slit for the main speaker. It produces a very loud sound, which is not surprising given its size. We are not talking about magical timbre abilities, but its loudness cannot be underestimated.

Bottom and top edges of the smartphone

The back of the device is removable, it is under it that there is a slot for a micro SIM card and a slot for a micro SD memory expansion card (currently the maximum volume of 128 GB is supported). A pleasant surprise for those who are inclined to use the device, which is called "driving horses to death", will be the presence of a removable battery, which, alas, is not often found in modern flagships. Now, in order to give the smartphone a new impulse, you just need to remove the cover, which is very simple and fast, and change the battery. In this case, the lid sits back like a glove. In general, I would like to note the high-quality assembly of the device, worthy of the status of a flagship smartphone, as well as pleasant tactile sensations when working with external controls - the smooth and precise movement of the main metallized button and volume keys.

At the top there is an IrDA window, which allows you to turn your smartphone into a control panel for almost any equipment. Fortunately, the built-in application has a huge database of all kinds of devices, and if necessary, you can search for third-party programs on Google Play.

Speaker

At the bottom there is a micro USB connector for charging and communicating with a computer, a microphone hole and a standard 3.5 mm jack for a stereo headset. The rest of the ends remained completely "bare", which may seem a little unexpected at first, but then you start to appreciate this decision.

There are currently two colors available - metallic black and silky white. We emphasize that this color differentiation applies only to the lower insert and the back of the device.

Memory card slot

The screen has a maximum resolution of 1440 x 2560 for smartphones. And that's five and a half inches! As a reminder, these numbers are just starting to appear on the most advanced laptops. At the same time, the diagonal of such mobile computers is from thirteen inches. In short, the clarity of the picture seems to be simply prohibitive. The pre-installed 4K video also adds fuel to the fire, it is very difficult to convey the sensations from watching it in words. Many viewers, being impressed, said that it was difficult for them to believe in the reality of what was happening.

The screen technology is IPS, which in the case of LG guarantees an excellent picture and excellent viewing angles. In the absence of glare on the screen, the image looks like a magazine page in a bright glossy edition. The used Corning Gorilla Glass 3 provides protection from scratches, but still, experience suggests that trouble occurs at the most unexpected moment, so it is better to handle the device carefully. avoiding contact with keys and other abrasive and destructive elements.

Rear camera

The smartphone runs on the most recent version of Android OS, 4.4.2 (KitKat). However, as is usually the case with leading manufacturers, an additional interface shell written by the company's engineers is “deployed” above the main “axis”. It adds certain features for ease of use, presentation of content and personalization of the device. This, for example, assigning a certain color shade to each of the important functions, a funny interface for stretching widgets when the "last" screen is reached, and other funny and useful little things that make up a positive attitude towards the device and its developer. The guarantee of the highest performance is the latest quad-core solution from Qualcomm - Snapdragon 801, each of the cores can operate at a maximum frequency of 2.5 GHz. At the same time, as you can see in the screenshots, if such computing power is not required, certain cores either go to sleep or work at lower frequencies. As they say, everything is aimed at the maximum duration of work.

LG G3 shell interface

The Adreno 330 is responsible for the graphics subsystem, which, together with a powerful processor, allows you to run even heavy 3D games.

Please note that now ZOOM.CNews is jointly with LG, the main prize of which is the LG G3 smartphone. The competition will run until July 19.

The amount of pre-installed RAM is 2 GB, which is normal, but not an outstanding indicator of modern flagships. For storage, the device is preinstalled with 16 GB of flash memory, however, the capacity of the smartphone can be easily expanded using an external micro SD card. As we said, up to 128 GB is supported.

The technical stuffing is complemented by a digital compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity and light sensor, and a module for supporting wireless charging.

In terms of wireless interfaces, everything is also at the highest level. This is Wi-Fi with support for a / b / g / n standards, GPS and GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and the cherry on top of this multilayer cake is an infrared port for controlling household appliances.

An example of indoor panorama shooting.

There is even an FM radio. It works only when a wired headset is connected, where the cable acts as an antenna. However, if you do not want to listen to the radio with headphones, its sound can be output to the speaker or to any other Bluetooth device.

Obviously, the rear camera is considered by the manufacturer as a solid and interesting photo solution, at least as a replacement for point-and-shoot cameras (in our opinion - "soap dishes"), perhaps even with even greater ambitions. The older camera is equipped with a 13-megapixel sensor. It works with an updated autofocus system, where a built-in laser module comes to the rescue of the camera. With its help, for example, it is easier to determine the distance to the object. Autofocus began to work much faster, we can say that today it is one of the fastest smartphones for photography. Also, the camera is equipped with a flash module consisting of two LEDs, which theoretically provides more correct reproduction of skin color and color tones in the shadows. When the camera module is initially turned on, it is noticeable how a quick search for the correct focus point occurs in the viewfinder.

Especially worth noting is the optical stabilization system, which allows you to avoid "shake" even in low light conditions. The menu is not overloaded with additional settings and functions, which many competitors on the Android platform sin. Here everything is subordinated to ease of use and should not distract from the main thing - the pictures on the screen. Available in the main menu: activation of the HDR mode, panorama, best shot mode (a kind of machine for lazy people). I would also like to note a rather interesting mode called "Magic Focus". The principle of operation is obvious - the camera quickly takes several frames, and then you use the slide to select the desired image with the correct focal point. It is saved in the device's photo gallery.

Gallery of pictures taken by the rear camera.

The front camera is called selfie in the specifications on LG's website. The resolution is two megapixels. Its main purpose, in addition to the colorful "self-shooting", is to support video communication. And there is also a fun mode when both cameras are activated to collect two photographs in one collage. Full HD video shooting is supported. In addition, the smartphone has several other interesting features - virtual flash and gesture control. When activated first, the smartphone will illuminate your face with a white screen (fortunately, the brightness of the display allows you to do this) in low light. Gesture control is as follows: if you clench your hand into a fist, then after 3 seconds the smartphone will take a picture automatically.

The capacity of the lithium-ion battery is 3,000 mAh. In principle, the battery of its predecessor had the same performance. And it was a very good result. Under a very intense load, in active use mode, when the screen was turned on for more than 4 hours, the battery lasted the whole day. We can definitely talk about the guaranteed operation of the smartphone in normal operating mode during the day.

We can definitely say that we have met one of the best, if not the best Android device on the market: unique design, the world's first Quad HD (1440 x 2560) screen, the most modern hardware, all the necessary interfaces. And this is in a compact body that allows you to operate a 5.5-inch device with one hand! The only controversial point may be somewhat non-standard placement of controls, including the "main" button. But this is just a matter of habit. At the moment, the model is a triumph for LG's smartphone division.
