With similar characteristics, Xiaomi and Highscreen smartphones will cost approximately the same, but I happened to use smartphones with very similar hardware. It is worth noting that buying smartphones from the Russian company Highscreen, you get fast delivery, service and support. When ordering a smartphone from China, you have to rely only on yourself. I'm sure if Boost 3 could be ordered on GearBest, it would have cost significantly less. Today in Russia this smartphone costs 16,990 rubles. Xiaomi Mi 4i can be purchased for 15,990 rubles.

We can talk about iron for a very long time. I will say right away that I am not a fan of hertz and cores, I am not a witness to diodes, and I do not idolize gigabytes of RAM. The hardware in my smartphone should provide stable operation of applications, it should not cause problems and inconveniences. My Mi 4i was powered by an eight-core Snapdragon 615 with 2GB of RAM. It was enough for the stable operation of any games and applications. The eight-core MediaTek MT6753 works in Highscreen Boost 3. I don't see any problems with him either. Both processors cope with all tasks perfectly.

The Qualcomm processor has a number of advantages over MediaTek processors, but not immediately. For now, I propose to take a look at the brief specifications of my two smartphones and see how similar they are.

Both smartphones delight the eye with an IPS FullHD display. The quality of the display is pleasing to the eye, but, in my subjective opinion, Xiaomi's color reproduction is lame. I liked the Boost 3 display a little more.

Time to talk about the camera. I didn't like either camera or the second. Fortunately, unlike Xiaomi, Highscreen did not try to convince me that I would get good pictures. The Boost 3 camera is enough for capturing certain moments or photographing documents, but it is not impressive. The camera of Xiaomi smartphones only impresses the company's employees during the presentation. Much attention is paid to it, but in reality the result is worse than average. Perhaps you can squeeze something out of it with software and manual settings, but I will never wish this to an ordinary consumer.

I've already talked about the chips, which means it's time to talk about the battery. Highscreen is playing a foul game here. They have several lines of smartphones that are famous for battery life and large batteries. Highscreen Boost 3 comes with two batteries and replaceable covers. The standard 3000 mAh battery is enough for a day of work with the smartphone. A second 6000mAh battery will make you forget about portable chargers forever. Listen to music, play Pokemon Go, do whatever you want with it. For a full Sunday of playing Pokemon Go, I managed to drain the Boost 3 Extended Battery by 50 percent.

Now let's talk about Xiaomi. 3000 mAh is enough for a smartphone, but not for a smartphone from the Chinese company Xiaomi, which eats with a huge appetite. Many will say that the problem is solved by flashing, but at the presentation Xiaomi for some reason forgets to mention that their smartphones eat up the battery if you do not install custom firmware. Two SIM cards and always-on wireless connections are ready to land your smartphone in less than a day, even if you don't touch it. Many users complain about problems in the kernel, due to which Xiaomi smartphones cannot sleep. I tend to believe in the existence of these problems.

And now another dishonest move from Highscreen. I'm talking about sound. Xiaomi makes great headphones. I have their latest model. I was inspired to see special presets for each model of branded headphones in the Xiaomi smartphone. I was disappointed to realize that the iPhone plays much better without all the presets.

Highscreen Boost 3 for 16,990 rubles plays better than the iPhone or any other smartphone for 50, 60 and 70 thousand rubles. This is due to the company's work with a talented engineer. Highscreen has worked on both software and hardware. The result is impressive. My colleague has already talked about the sound of Boost 3. From myself, I can only add that every flagship should sound like this, but only the flagship of Highscreen sounds like this.

Design and materials

But enough about the hardware. The smartphone should be pleasing to the eye, comfortable to hold in the hand, durable and attractive. All this can be said about Xiaomi smartphones. They are slim and attractive. They are durable and well made. I was not at all ashamed to get my very inexpensive Xiaomi out of my pocket, because it looks great. Even the plastic body looks and feels very good. After several falls, I was able to verify its reliability.

Alas, the flagship device from Highscreen looks very simple both in terms of design and due to the materials used. Pulling Boost 3 out of my pocket to switch tracks, I thought, "I got it because it has great sound." With a thick battery and an extra back cover, it looks even a little more interesting. It seems to be reliable, but it is not. Plastic is not credible. The back cover is made in such a way that if you are going to change it often, buttons will fall out of it quickly enough.

I'm exaggerating a little, and, most likely, Highscreen will last you a long time, but make me forget everything I know about this smartphone, and I would walk past the window with it, stopping at the window with beautiful Xiaomi smartphones. Yes, I also love with my eyes and I hope that Highscreen will work on the design of future smartphones.

Operating system and software

And I would like to finish with the most interesting. Why did I give up Xiaomi smartphones? Because this company makes cool hardware, attractive design, and then spoils it all with terrible software. MIUI looks attractive, but bugs are not fixed in it, and everything works disgusting. they cannot work in the background, Bluetooth devices are always forgotten and fall off, the battery charge disappears before our eyes, and there is no hope for an update that can fix everything. New Xiaomi smartphones are coming out very quickly. Even faster, the company forgets about smartphones released earlier. I will not even talk about various Chinese services that no one will use. They probably work as well as MIUI.

Highscreen firmware is pure Android with no shell. The smartphone has only a couple of music apps installed. As you can guess, everything works much more stable, and bugs are fixed over time. As for the Android update, both smartphones run Android Lollipop, and no one stutters about Marshmallow yet. This is not so important when the smartphone is stable and stability is not Xiaomi's strong point. Rumor has it that smartphones with MediaTek processors update more slowly, and the software does not work on them all. There were no problems with applications, and as for updates, the only smartphone under 20 thousand rubles that is being updated is the Nexus.

In disputes about the troubles of Xiaomi and their smartphones, I am often told that you just need to install custom firmware, and the devices will work much better. I'm talking about consumer devices right now. I will say this again: Xiaomi in its presentation does not say that the firmware is bad and will need to be replaced. We buy a smartphone so that it serves us faithfully. Making it stable and reliable is the manufacturer's task.

The decision of the judges of the fight

There is only one judge for this fight. But smartphones have competed in different disciplines. Time to show grades for each.

Price: draw with a slight advantage towards Xiaomi. The Chinese smartphone has made a series of strikes, attracting thrifty buyers. Highscreen responded with service and support that appeals to the practical and forward-thinking.
Iron: Highscreen victory. Xiaomi attracted lovers of advanced technologies with a painful technique, but Highscreen stunned with a powerful blow to the battery and sound.
Design and materials: victory for Xiaomi. The Chinese have made the whole world squint at the dazzling design of Xiaomi smartphones. Highscreen squinted and missed a series of blows.
Operating system and software: Highscreen victory. At the very end of the fight, a banana peel falls from Xiaomi's pocket. Xiaomi knocks out itself. Highscreen prudently left all the trash in the trash.
