Highscreen Yummy Duo review. A smartphone with two SIM cards and a large screen. Highscreen Yummy Duo Review Appearance and Usability

Yummy Duo New, which is the successor of the Yummy Duo model. The novelty has received an updated operating system and a more powerful processor. The gadget also supports two SIM cards.

Highscreen Yummy Duo New has an elegant, yet unobtrusive design. On the front surface there is a touchscreen display, above it there is a speaker, light and proximity sensors, a front camera, underneath there are touch control buttons. The back cover houses the main camera with LED flash, speaker slots and logo. On the sides - a volume control key and an on / off button.

Although the device belongs to the budget category, the assembly is done very well: there are no squeaks or backlashes. The gadget is very ergonomic: the body materials are pleasant to the touch, the smartphone is comfortable to hold and work with.

Dimensions - 124x68x11 mm, and weight - 140 g.

Performance and software

Highscreen Yummy Duo New is based on 1-core MediaTek MT6575 ARM Cortex-A9 processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz, PowerVR SGX531 graphics accelerator and 512 MB of RAM.

The device copes with the main modern programs, but, of course, you don't need to demand much from a budget model. The novelty has pre-installed software: a browser, audio and video players, an email client and some other applications and games.

The audio player supports AAC, MP3, OGG and WMA, while the video player supports 3GP, AVI, FLV and MP4.

Permanent memory in the smartphone is only 512 MB, of which 250 MB is available to users. Expansion is possible with (max. 32 GB).

The Yummy Duo New is powered by the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

This budget model supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, FM radio, GPS and 3G networks.

Screen

Highscreen Yummy Duo New is equipped with a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display made using TFT technology, with a resolution of 800x480 pixels and a color reproduction of 262.14 thousand shades. Image quality is relatively good for a budget model, but sometimes it lacks clarity and colors are not entirely natural. Viewing angles are narrow and sunlight fading is high.

Camera

The Highscreen Yummy Duo New has a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash. Using a smartphone, you can take pictures with a maximum resolution of 2592x1944 pixels, as well as record videos at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. Note that the flash is not very helpful: the photos are dull. In good lighting, the quality of the images is quite good, but small details are still not always distinguishable.

The gadget also has a 0.3 megapixel front camera for video conferencing.

Battery

The device has a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery. One battery charge is enough for 4.5 hours of surfing the Internet or 3 hours of watching videos.

The cost

Pluses: Excellent and sizeable screen! You will have to pay at least twice as much for such a screen from well-known brands. Yummy display resolution - 480x800 pixels, not HD, but, for example, Samsung Galaxy S II, Sony Ericsson Arc, HTC Desire HD and the like have no higher resolution. The body does not creak, there is no backlash, the cover does not bend up to the battery. Excellent screen sensitivity. I don't know how it will be with the film - I know that the film worsens the image by an order of magnitude! Good equipment (headphones, protective film, charger with USB, USB-microUSB cable, instructions in Russian). Correct work of the Internet over the network of the cellular operator. High quality of the spoken path. Excellent and convenient software! Samsung, for example, loses a lot in models over 14 thousand. Many third-party programs, manager and dispatcher for example, are simply not needed! Very convenient navigation and control. Good work of the Wi-Fi module, the connection is stable, the speed is high. Intuitive interface !!! The device contains a light and proximity sensor (CM3623), an orientation sensor (MMC328), and a three-axis accelerometer (MT6516). The main advantage is one radio module! The manufacturer took care of the user's health. Disadvantages: I carefully read all the reviews and especially the disadvantages and here's what I can say: 1. The battery works adequately. 2. The charging connector (core with contacts) is made of plastic! At the same Samsunga, it is reinforced with a metal plate. So, with this in mind, you should not use a standard (included in the kit) thick and not flexible cable for charging in any case !!! I use a charger from Samsunga - a thin and elastic cord. Also, do not bend and pull the cord and socket during charging. 3. The sound is recorded in the video recording mode not loudly due to the microphone turned in the opposite direction from the object of shooting, think for yourself how it should write in such conditions ... The quality is quite acceptable, the level can be raised in any video editing program, if the quality of the video from the smartphone is worth a little over four requires similar processing. 4. The photo for this device is very high quality, autofocus works well even for macro photography, criticism can be made if this smartphone is positioned as a middle class of ultra-modern "soap boxes". If you know the basic basics of creating successful pictures, this smartphone will be the best assistant. P.S. I practiced with 8 megapixels. cameras of other smartphones from China (highway) costing twice as much - the quality of macro photography is worse. I changed the micro-USB connector - a regular one that was useless in quality - I soldered the Nokiev five-pin one, poked the paint in front of the hidden indicator with a needle (sms, business, charging) - now the indicator shimmers with all the colors of the rainbow!))) The device has become just super))) Comment: Everything they are silent about the convenient system software, but it is present here! It is not necessary, as with eminent brands, for example, with tablets naked in this part, to spend hours looking for the necessary system software, and even so that it is convenient! The microphone and speaker work great during the talk! It is a pleasure to listen to the interlocutor: the sound is clear and intelligible, and the timbre is very pleasant. You need to check right in the store, you do not need to take defective devices. The quality was checked in tandem with the Philips Xenium Champion X333. The device was bought in a normal store with a normal warranty at a price of just over four thousand rubles .... I don’t even know which device can compete with it in terms of price / quality ratio. The Highscreen Yummy smartphone is built on the platform of the Taiwanese manufacturer MediaTek MT6573. By the way, many Chinese phones are equipped with this particular chip, for example, Hero H5000 / H4300, Tops i9100, Star X15i / X18i, Star b68M and others. Processor - ARM 11 (ARMv6) with a clock frequency of 650 MHz, based on the ARM1176JZ (F) -S core. It supports HSPA 7.2Mbps / 5.76Mbps technology. PowerVR SGX 531 acts as a graphics accelerator. Supports: OpenGL 2.0, Microsoft Shader Model 3. Most games with simple graphics run without problems. The smartphone has a GPS navigator. In the settings, you have the right to enable EPO (Extended Prediction Orbit) mode - one of the innovative proprietary technologies of A-GPS MediaTek based on stand-alone servers. It supports prediction of satellite orbits for up to 30 days, they can be used to reduce the time to determine GPS coordinates. "Cold" start - about 2-3 minutes, "hot" - up to 10 seconds. If you know the nuances and use the device carefully, it will only bring pleasure to its owner. And for even more fun and less unnecessary software on your smartphone, do not forget to install the Air Droid app.

The Yummy Duo smartphone from Highscreen is made in a classic case. The body of the smartphone is made of plastic. The phone runs on Android 2.3 operating system and supports operation with two SIM cards of the usual type in alternating mode. Phone dimensions: width 68 millimeters, height 124 millimeters, thickness 10.5 millimeters. Weight 140 grams.

The diagonal color touch screen is 4.3 inches with a maximum resolution of 800x480 and 217 pixels per inch (PPI). The device screen has an automatic rotation function.

The Highscreen Yummy Duo is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera. The camera allows you to record videos. In addition to the main camera, the phone also has a 0.3 megapixel front camera.

Highscreen Yummy Duo is powered by a 1-core MediaTek MT6573 processor, 650 MHz and a PowerVR SGX531 video processor, has 0.5 gigabytes of internal memory and 0.5 gigabytes of RAM. The phone has a slot for a memory card up to 32 gigabytes.

The capacity of the lithium-ion battery is 1500 mAh.

Also, the phone is equipped with sensors: light, proximity, compass. This adds additional functionality to the phone in various applications.

Great screen! (eminent companies insert this only into devices that are 2-3 times more expensive) Good sensitivity of the screen under the film Good equipment (headphones, protective film, charging unit with USB, USB-microUSB cable), beautiful packaging, Russian manual, 1500mA battery Correct work with 3G (fast Internet, video calls) Excellent work of the proximity sensor Lies well in a man's hand, but has a large screen that fills almost the entire front panel No unnecessary installed programs and add-ons that cannot be removed by simple methods Excellent conversational sound, good reception of both operators Of course the PRICE is lower than all competitors from the official in Russia

I bought this model a couple of months ago, I needed a two-SIM phone for work. I liked the phone. Despite its size in the hand it is comfortable, in the hands of the wife it looks bulky. The screen is easily soiled, so I immediately pasted the film, it was included. The display is large and reacts to light touches. In the evening I figured out the settings. I took pictures on my phone and filmed my little son, quite tolerable quality.

Build quality is not bad, 2 sim cards (but I use 1 noah) Androyd 2.3.9 large screen, loud sound, the price pleased.

A unique phone with a large screen and 2 SIM cards. There are simply no analogues. The screen is of good quality and very bright, which certainly helps on a sunny day.

Price ... Bought Yummy Duo of old used model after repair in +++ for 2200 4 months have passed. There is Navitel and 2GIS, NomadRider, Dolphin Mini, YaPoshta, SPBtv, Mort, Real, AndirMusic - players. Pulls all right, enough memory, does not slow down, does not buggy. I never jerked ... The battery keeps it normal, but for Andron, it's generally great. For me, this smart is one big advantage. Despite the 8MP the camera is still 5MP, which is good - 8MP in this case cannot be good by definition - only interpolation will save a wounded cat. By the way, SPB TV works well even with EDGE. The new one comes with a GO launcher - an old version, but nice ...

    Objectively, they are.
    1. Battery: Still weak. You really use such a device with pleasure, but with active use it lasts a maximum of 1 day (moreover, if you do not keep GPS and Wi-Fi constantly active).
    2. Screen: in the sun, even at maximum brightness, fades.
    3. It is difficult to find a cover due to the thickness of the case (I still haven't found a suitable one).

So far I have been using it only for 2 days, but I twisted it all, I did not find anything bad, I did not notice any glitches, braking or no operation from hitting the buttons - no worse than other expensive ones, well, the main (hopefully temporary) jamb is not support cameras in Skype - you can survive

    2 years ago 0

Skype works without a camera (how to install I received recommendations from the support service). A quick search in the phone book is inconvenient due to the lack of the Cyrillic alphabet (only Latin). It feels like GPS is looking for satellites for too long.

After a month of buying the purchase on the top left in the area of \u200b\u200bthe volume keys, the case burst, a few days later on the right and again on the left and then again on the right a little lower - cracks appeared. I filled the cracks with super glue, almost invisible, but the residue remained unpleasant. The phone did not drop or hit.
    - Brakes when working
    - Clicks when pressing keys when dialing a number, turned off the sound of keys - silence. Problematic firmware, you need to reflash, but I still do not understand how.
    - After a year of use, the USB socket broke, the phone stopped charging, the service centers do not take repairs .... The warranty is over. The phone can be thrown away or put on the shelf.

Largest Android Smartphone with Dual SIM

Flagships are different. At a time when the top smartphones of the world's leading manufacturers famously juggle in front of the audience with their numerous cores, demonstrating sky-high performance in synthetic tests and an unprecedented density of dots per inch, other "flagships" are rolling out their only ARMv6 core onto the stage, demonstrating, by the way, not without pride, an increase in its performance from 416 to as much as 650 MHz! For them, this is also a kind of breakthrough.

It happened with the hero of today's review - the new communicator Highscreen Yummy Duo. This smartphone has recently taken the position of the flagship in the line of Highscreen smartphones, replacing the previous model - Highscreen HD Duo. It didn't even have support for 3G networks, let alone the old hardware platform with a 416 MHz central processor. The platform on which the entire internal economy of the Highscreen Yummy Duo is built is called MT6573 and is produced by the Chinese company MediaTek, which is headquartered in Taiwan. This SoC produced by MediaTek was released more than half a year ago, and differs from the previous one in support of third-generation networks, an increased frequency of the central processor, support for an 8 megapixel camera and a few more details, which we will talk about a little later.

However, there is one more important detail in the description of Highscreen Yummy Duo, which is, of course, the most important distinguishing feature of the hero of today's review. This, of course, works with two SIM cards, which automatically brings Highscreen Yummy Duo into a separate row, or it would even be more correct to say a niche in which devices are no longer competing with the whole world, but with each other. Such a separate market niche has its own rules of the game, and, perhaps, in it our hero is really capable of taking one of the prizes. This, in this case, is, of course, about the Russian market. There are more than enough of such "miracles" on the Chinese market, but among the devices officially supplied to our market, this is the largest communicator with support for two SIM-cards.

Thus, today we will consider in all details Highscreen Yummy Duo - a new smartphone from the Russian company Vobis Computer, which has been selling Chinese smartphones under the Highscreen trademark for a long time and relatively successfully in our country. Among them, by the way, there are many devices with support for two SIM-cards - according to this parameter, the company is a kind of leader.

Communicator Highscreen Yummy Duo comes in a small rectangular cardboard box with high-quality printing. The box strongly resembles iPhone packaging, both externally and internally. In addition to the smartphone itself, the kit includes a lightweight universal charger with USB output, a USB - Micro-USB cable for charging and connecting to a computer, a wired stereo headset with in-ear headphones and a standard 3.5 mm jack, as well as a protective film on the screen and some waste paper.

In general, the package bundle can be considered decent, and the lack of a protective cover in our age of an unusually developed market for additional accessories can already be considered a merit. Complete covers are rarely of high quality and interesting, but it's a pity to throw them away, while I really want to buy one of those bright ones from the store shelf - it's not an easy dilemma. Here, the user is automatically deprived of the "throwing of the soul", while receiving, as an additional bonus, also a protective film on the screen - all around one benefit.

Appearance and usability

The smartphone is large, its dimensions are due to the large 4.3-inch screen, which occupies almost the entire front surface. At the same time, the phone is quite thin: its thickness is 10.5 mm, which is almost a record for two-SIM devices. For comparison: the same Highscreen HD Duo had a "waist" of as much as 14.1 mm, and the thickness of the closest competitors, such as Gigabyte GSmart G1345 or Fly IQ260 BlackBird, does not drop below 12-13 mm.

As for the "brothers" on the diagonal, the most famous of them look like this in comparison with the Highscreen Yummy Duo:

  • Highscreen Yummy Duo - 68 x 124 x 10.5 mm
  • HTC One S - 65 x 130.9 x 7.8mm
  • Sony Xperia S - 64 x 128 x 10.6 mm
  • HTC Sensation - 65 × 126 × 11 mm

However, despite its impressive dimensions, the communicator fits quite comfortably in the hand. The Highscreen Yummy Duo weighs only 110 scales with a battery, and if its body was much thinner, it would not “fill” the palm so comfortably. Due to the tightly cut, lightweight and streamlined body on all sides, the device easily slips into the pockets of trousers, and it is convenient to lift it from the table surface. In general, the combination of dimensions, low weight, well-chosen thickness and body materials can be considered successful.

As for the materials, the smartphone is completely made of plastic with a soft-touch effect, due to which it is comfortable and pleasant to hold in your hand, without fear that the device can slip out. Completely black color is diluted only by a metallized strip that stretches along the entire perimeter of the case. To be honest, this strip gives out a Chinese craft with a head - it would be better if the Asian manufacturer refused already from these dubious shiny decorative elements, especially since they are not made of metal, but simple spraying on the same plastic, which is very noticeable even on real metal does not look like. However, the attractiveness of design always remains a matter of personal taste, our task is only to state the facts: plastic is everywhere, the design is very modest and the smartphone cannot pretend to be an expensive or fashionable thing.

There is one unpleasant moment in the design of Highscreen Yummy Duo: since this is a multi-SIM device, it is logical to assume that the user will use several SIM-cards, changing them according to the situation, for example, during foreign trips, etc. Therefore, the manufacturer simply had to provide for the frequent use of slots for SIM-cards and either take these slots out, covering them with caps, or make reliable fasteners for the back cover in the form of a spring-loaded button, which would give the cover its durability. But, of course, no one was going to show such concern for the user here: the lid is standardly attached to several plastic latches, which from frequent use will loosen or break completely. It is, again, extremely difficult to remove the lid from the case - the nails break, there is nothing to grab onto, as a result, efforts are made to remove it, incommensurate with the task at hand, and the lid comes off with a terrible crunch. You won't want an enemy to often remove such a cover, and the device is certainly not recommended for purchase by those people who are going to constantly change SIM-cards.

As for the body's soiled quality, its matte plastic is not too prone to dirt, but the screen gets smudged very quickly. On the protective glass, like on a mirror, fingerprints are clearly visible and the entire environment is reflected.

This protective glass covers not only the display, but also the entire front surface of the smartphone. Under it were the sensors, and the front camera peephole, and touch buttons for controlling the communicator. It also has cutouts for the microphone and earpiece grille. Along the perimeter around the glass there are barely noticeable bumpers half a millimeter high, which protect the surface of the screen, but also prevent the erasure of prints.

The rest of the controls are located on the sides of the device, there are few of them: on the right is the power button, on the left is the volume rocker. There is no separate camera control key here, but taking into account the rather mediocre quality of the images obtained, this may be for the best.

The fact that the lock key is not on top, but on the side, on the one hand, is due to the large dimensions of the device and the inconvenience of reaching up with a finger of the hand, but, on the other hand, when you press it, the second finger necessarily rests on the volume control swing, often violating the set customization. Of the two evils, the lesser had to be chosen, and in this case the manufacturer clearly made a mistake.

Both connectors - Micro-USB and 3.5 mm audio output - are on the top. The rear camera window and the external speaker slot are on the back cover. There is also a large Highscreen inscription, which spoils and makes the whole view cheaper.

In general, the device of the case can be considered successful: if there is no task of frequently changing SIM-cards, then the smartphone will last a long time, because all the parts are well-fitted and securely fastened together - there are no creaks, no backlashes, no cracks. As for the appearance and arrangement of elements, everything here is individual - some will like it, some will not, but, I repeat, the solution does not look expensive.

Screen

It's hard to say anything flattering about the Highscreen Yummy Duo screen. This is the most common TN type TFT matrix. The display is weak in all respects - the contrast is low, as are the viewing angles. There is a little graininess, so fine details and fonts come out slightly loose. In addition, the picture is faded due to low contrast. But as for the brightness, its stock is more than enough - you can set this parameter in the settings a little more than half, or even leave the adjustment at the mercy of the machine, since it is present here and works very tolerably. In addition to the light sensor, the Highscreen Yummy Duo also has a proximity sensor that turns off the screen when brought to your ear. The colors are rendered quite naturally. In the sun, the information remains readable, however, as soon as the viewing angle is slightly changed, the protective glass immediately turns into a mirror - it glares very much.

The physical parameters of the display are as follows: 57 × 94 mm, in the diagonal - 110 mm (4.3 inches). Pixel resolution - "classic" - 480 × 800 (WVGA). It is a capacitive touch screen with multi-touch control function. In this regard, there are no complaints about the screen - the display reacts sensitively to finger touches, there are no erroneous clicks or sticking. True, some slowdown was noticed when responding to a press, but since this does not always happen, but only occasionally, it is worth addressing this problem to a weak hardware platform, which sometimes turns out to be too "thoughtful" when loading applications, but we will talk about it a little later ...

Sound

The sound produced by Highscreen Yummy Duo is worth mentioning separately. The fact is that the external speaker literally "yells" and yells very loudly. You should not set the parameter of its volume to maximum, otherwise people around you will shy away from you. The holes on the back cover are located on the beveled edge, so the surface of the table cannot interfere with the sound output. However, loud and clear sound does not automatically mean high quality. There are no low frequencies here, so the brain quickly gets tired of listening to these high notes. In any case, no one assigns the functions of a radio tape recorder to a mobile phone, and the external speaker Highscreen Yummy Duo copes with its task of notifying the owner perfectly. With it, you will not miss an incoming call even during a tour of the construction site.

As for the sound in the headphones, the complete stereo headset did not like its quality at all. The sound is kind of dull, like "from a barrel", unpleasant for perception. In addition, there are only one earbuds on the headphones, and their large size will not fit all ears. However, since Highscreen Yummy Duo is equipped with a universal 3.5 mm audio output, you can connect your favorite high-quality headphones to the device, and the situation will change dramatically.

The capabilities of the built-in music player are enough to extract quite decent sound from the headphones, the quality of which can be adjusted with several settings and even the built-in equalizer.

Camera

This MT6573 platform from MediaTek supports work with camera matrices up to 8 megapixels, but in this case the manufacturer claims that it has installed only a 5-megapixel module with an f / 2.8 aperture. In reality, the frame with default settings is indeed interpolated to a size of 3264 × 2448 pixels, which is the same 8 megapixels in terms of conversion. In the camera settings, you can manually select the 5-megapixel configuration. However, 5 megapixels or 8, and all the same, the resulting frame can serve only as a reminder of the event that happened, but is in no way able to convey the full completeness of colors. Photos come out dark and blurry in places. You can personally evaluate the quality of the images taken by the Highscreen Yummy Duo camera at the default settings by clicking on the thumbnails below.

Here we also post a couple of ten-second clips shot at standard settings with a frequency of 25 frames per second. The clips are saved in 3gp format and have a resolution of 720 × 480 pixels (clip # 1 - 8.8 MB, clip # 2 - 8.7 MB).

Thanks to automatic focusing, text from paper or a monitor screen can also be captured by the camera, but the result of its recognition by special programs can be negatively affected by the low quality of the resulting image.

As for the settings, everything is fine in this regard: you don't need to go anywhere behind them - the settings are all displayed in a translucent form right on the screen and can be used at any time. There are a lot of settings, there is even the now fashionable ability to bind geo-positional data to a snapshot obtained when using the built-in GPS module. True, the battery is discharged right before our eyes. Here on the screen, in a small window, a preview of the last taken picture or video is organized, and when you click, you go to the gallery. However, while viewing the pictures, you can also quickly go to shooting by clicking on the icon with the camera image.

There is no separate hardware button for controlling the camera in the Highscreen Yummy Duo, so the shutter is released by pressing a virtual button on the screen. More precisely, when you press, focusing passes, and when you release the button, shooting is already taking place.

The communicator also has a front camera for video calls, its resolution is 0.3 megapixels. The quality of the image obtained with its help is rather modest, but the presence of a front-facing camera in a Chinese communicator is a good sign.

Software and telephone part

As for the software filling, there is nothing special to describe here: Highscreen Yummy Duo runs under the familiar and outdated version of Android OS 2.3.5 Gingerbread. The manufacturer did not take noticeable tampering with the system interface, except for the telephone part. With seven horizontally scrolling desktops and a long, generic vertical menu of programs that can't be sorted out, Android's clean interface.

But about the telephone part it is worth telling in more detail, because we have a smartphone with support for two SIM-cards, and this property, in theory, should become a decisive factor when choosing and buying this communicator.

It is fair to say that the Highscreen Yummy Duo does an excellent job with the phone functions. During a week of use, I was not lazy to constantly note the operation of the radio module when moving in the metro, elevators and other areas with unstable or weak network coverage, and, I must admit, the phone keeps the network signal excellently and recovers communication much faster than many models after a loss. There is only one radio module, but both SIM cards are simultaneously in a constant active standby mode, and both networks are instantly located by the device when leaving the metro. Those who really need exactly the stable operation of the radio part should not let this smartphone down.

As for the simultaneous operation of two SIM-cards, it is arranged as follows: as in a regular phone, there is only one radio module installed here. Therefore, we can talk about full-fledged "two-sim" here only in relation to the standby mode. Then both SIM cards are really active and are simultaneously available. But once you establish a connection or start the process of transferring data using one SIM-card, the other immediately becomes unavailable. In this case, the caller to the second number will not hear the invitation to wait on the line, but will receive a hang-up and a message that the subscriber is unavailable.

In order to determine the choice of the desired SIM-card in the interface, several auxiliary features are provided. Firstly, everywhere - both when dialing a number manually and when calling a subscriber from the contacts list - the user is given a choice between two SIM cards. The same choice occurs when sending SMS or data connection. However, all this can be configured by initially assigning a corresponding SIM card to each of the functions. All tools for this are collected in the settings section - SIM card management.

For ease of orientation between two SIM-cards, they are additionally marked with multi-colored squares. The color assigned to each of the cards can be selected in the corresponding settings. In addition, these squares are not just icons, but interactive panels that demonstrate the process currently taking place with the corresponding SIM card, for example, the process of transferring data via the mobile Internet or network inaccessibility / search. In addition, if both SIM cards belong to the same telecom operator, then the cards are not only assigned different color designations, but also additional serial numbers. For example, one card would be called MTS and the other MTS 01.

When there is an incoming call, the screen also displays the serial number and color designation of the SIM card to which the call is going. In the notification line at the top of the screen, two informers are simultaneously visible about the levels of reception of the signal of cellular networks in the case when both SIM cards are inserted into their slots. The slots are located under the back cover, one under the other, and the cards themselves are pressed by the battery, so you cannot change them without removing the battery.

Performance

As already mentioned, the Highscreen Yummy Duo hardware platform is based on SoC MT6573 - the mobile platform of the Chinese company MediaTek. The central processor here is a single-core ARM11 (ARMv6), clocked at 650 MHz. Support in graphics processing is provided by the PowerVR SGX 531 video accelerator. All this is served by 512 MB of RAM. The system memory in the device is also 512 MB. You can expand non-volatile memory using microSD cards up to 32 GB. The slot for them is under the back cover; you cannot replace the card without removing the battery. The communicator comes with a 4 GB memory card.

It is known about the MT6573 chip that it was launched into mass production in mid-2011 and is designed to work in budget communicators, replacing the outdated MTK6516, on the basis of which, for example, the Highscreen HD Duo worked.

This SoC is equipped with a video accelerator with advanced 3D graphics, supports cameras up to 8 megapixels and screens with resolutions up to FWVGA (848 × 480), work in a 3G / HSPA network with a data transfer rate of up to 7.2 MB / sec. In addition, the chip is equipped with a full range of communication solutions: Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, FM radio and even mobile TV from MediaTek. As for the OS, the MT6573 is designed to work with Adnroid 2.x, so you shouldn't expect an upgrade to 4.0 Highscreen Yummy Duo.

In Quadrant Standard Highscreen, Yummy Duo scored 796 points, slightly behind the first Galaxy S, and according to the results of the comprehensive AnTuTu Benchmark and in NenaMark2, the graphics performance showed very modest results.

As for my own impressions, the work of Highscreen Yummy Duo does not look stalled and does not cause irritation until you throw it overwhelming multimedia tasks such as playing Full HD video. However, the communicator turned video in 720p into a slideshow, and the game Angry Birds Space slowed down from time to time. The launch of the popular emulator for classic quests scummvm brought the smartphone into a final stupor. Sadly, I remembered that android smartphones were recklessly deprived of hardware reset buttons. It's good at least that the battery is removable.

Battery life

The lithium-ion battery installed in the Highscreen Yummy Duo has a capacity of 1500 mAh and is able to keep the smartphone running long enough for such a large screen. With standard use, the phone can easily live a day or more, provided that the screen brightness is set to an average value. Continuous mp3 playback with the screen off lasted 26 hours 40 minutes on a single charge, and video playback in an AVI container with a resolution of 620 × 350 took 6.5 hours. A full charge takes 3 hours.

Prices

At the time of this writing, the average price of the model is about 9 thousand rubles. The average retail price in Moscow at the time of reading the article in rubles can be found by moving the mouse to the price tag.

Outcome

The conclusions of the testing of the Highscreen Yummy Duo communicator are quite simple: the phone is quite capable of doing a good service to anyone looking for a reliable dual-SIM solution, and the large screen in this case will be a convenient help for him to handle the device interface.

For those who are in search of a multimedia combine, this device is most likely not suitable: the video is played only in a fairly modest resolution, the games slow down, and sometimes they do not play at all, and the physical capabilities of the screen are not enough to convey to colleagues all the beauties captured in vacation time. The Highscreen Yummy Duo is just a modest dual-SIM workhorse, and it's pretty reliable.

As for the price and competitors, there is almost no alternative here: all possible components in the form of two-SIM Gigabyte GSmart G1345, Fly IQ260 BlackBird or LG Optimus Link Dual SIM have much smaller screens in physical dimensions, but they are also cheaper. So the choice here depends on what the buyer is looking for in the first place - more or cheaper. Compared to other "large-caliber" communicators from more famous manufacturers, Highscreen Yummy Duo boasts a lower price and work with two SIM-cards, but it cannot compete with them in performance. So the choice here again remains at the discretion of the user, because there is no completely similar solution with such a large screen and support for two SIM-cards in our market yet.
