When the phone / PDA is connected to the PC via a usb cable, the device is not detected, but only charges:

  1. Set the checkbox "Settings \\ Connect to PC \\ Ask". If installed, remove and reinstall.
  2. Try to replace the cable.
  3. Plug into another USB port (preferably on the back of the system unit, since these ports are soldered directly on the motherboard).
  4. Try another PC.
  5. Try another flash card.
  6. Disable / remove task killer (if installed), or add "Synchronization with PC" to the list of exclusions.
  7. Try not to use adapters / extension cords
  8. Install driver Android_USB_Driver__winXP_win7_.rar
Drivers will also be installed when installing programs from various manufacturers to synchronize devices with a PC. IMPORTANT: when installing drivers, be sure to disable the antivirus software on your PC.
  9. Make a wipe through the PDA settings (reset to factory settings) or through recovery (go to ClockworkMod recovery and perform wipe data / factory reset). This will remove all installed applications and restore default settings.
  10. Reboot PDA and / or PC.
  11. Remove the installed drivers and the corresponding software on the PC (for example, MyPhoneExplorer), restart the PC, install the drivers again, restart the PC again.
  12. Turn off the PDA, take out the battery, SIM card and memory card for 15-30 minutes.
  13. Clean the connectors in the device USB connection problems (Post # 19849241) and FAQ for Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i USB connection problems (Post # 20080680).
  14. Update Windows Media Player USB Connection Problems (Post # 20228084)
  15. For Samsung owners: update KIES and click "update drivers" in it USB connection problems (Post # 20192608)
  16. Reflash.
  17. Hike to the service center.

(!!!) P.S. Do not forget that problems with connecting the device to a PC via USB can be caused by:

  • features of the custom firmware installed on a specific device;
  • third-party software installed on the device and / or PC, a conflict between them, etc.;
  • the problem may be in the hardware (technical malfunction of the memory card, USB port, wires, etc.).

Under these circumstances, the universal methods indicated elsewhere may not help you.

Correctly removing device drivers from your computer

Device drivers usually hide in the device manager as soon as the device shuts down or issues a hide command (despite the fact that they are still installed in the system). Very often, "similarly named" drivers conflict due to version mismatch, etc.

Methodology for clearing the list of unused devices: (It has already been tested by many and gives good results when nothing else helps to "see a" working "device.
0. Disconnect all external USB devices from your computer.
1. Create an environment variable named DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES with a value of 1.
For this: 1.1. Right-click on the “My Computer” icon and select “Properties”.
1.2. In the dialog box that opens, go to the "Advanced" tab and click on the "Environment Variables" button.
1.3. In the Environment Variables panel at the top of the dialog box, click the New button.
1.4. In the "Variable name" field, type (better copy from here) DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES, and in the "Variable value" field, enter 1.
1.5. Press the OK button twice in a row.)

The created environment variable will allow the device manager to show all device drivers installed in the system (both hidden and all that have ever connected to the computer).

2. Call the device manager / manager:
3. Right-click on the My Computer icon, select Properties and navigate to the Manage tab.
4. Click on the Device Manager button, expand the View menu and select Show Hidden Devices.

5. Begin "cleaning" the system from "trash":
5.1 Section "Disk devices" Every time you connect a new flash drive, a new driver is installed. Every time you connect the same flash drive, but to a different USB port, a new driver is installed. The drivers of all currently disabled removable media in this section can be safely removed - they will be reinstalled themselves when you connect flash drives and other USB media. Among these hidden and unused drivers will be the driver for "your device" (possibly "unsuccessful" and more than one). It should be called "Your device" USB Device, but it is not always detected correctly and therefore the name may be different ... Feel free to delete everything related to "Your device" in this section. At the first connection of "your device" a new driver from the current one will be installed by itself or will ask you to install it.

5.2 Section "Other devices" Here you can delete all HIDDEN (gray) devices - these are all your unsuccessful attempts to put "something". You definitely don't need them ...

5.3 Section "Volumes of storage devices" Here you can delete HIDDEN (gray) "volumes of storage devices" - these are the "letters" of your flash drives - you do not need them, because will be reassigned when the flash drive is connected.

5.4 Section "Universal Serial Bus Controllers": Here you can delete all HIDDEN (gray) devices: "Your device" Device USB Driver, USB Mass Storage Device, Unknown Device and others.
5.5 Reboot your computer.

6. After all these deletions, try to reconnect "your device". It should appear as a new device and Windows will install drivers for it, or you install them yourself (on some devices, you need to install drivers without a USB connection, i.e. connect after installing the driver).
6.1 Restart your computer.
Typically, this will fix all the conflicting "your device" drivers.

What if samsung kies can't see phone (considering what you have, for example)? First of all, it should be noted that this application is free software that helps a mobile device to interact with a personal computer. Many Samsung phone owners use it when connecting the device to a PC. However, it is not uncommon for Samsung Kies to not see a mobile device. How to proceed in this case?

Tips for users whose Samsung Kies didn't see the phone

The first step is to make sure that the problem really is with the Samsung Kies app and not with the computer itself. If the PC does not see it as a connected device, the problem may lie precisely in the computer - for example, it may arise with drivers or a USB port. It also does not hurt to scan the entire system for viruses.

If the connected device is identified, but samsung kies does not see the phone anyway, you can try to close and open the program, disconnect the cable and reconnect it. Alternatively, connect to another USB port, it is better on the back of the PC, and not on the front. The program should not be launched until the operating system "sees" the phone itself.

The next step is to check the connection settings in the mobile device menu. The scheme is as follows: "Settings" → "Connection" → "USB" → "USB debugging". Additionally, you can restart your phone. However, this may not help either. In this case, the owner of the mobile device is advised to try reinstalling the drivers on the device. By clicking the upper left line in the program, you must select "Restore driver" or "Install driver". Drivers can be updated in this way: "Control Panel" → "Device Manager" → phone selection → "Update drivers".

If this procedure does not help, the user should try to reinstall the program itself. Perhaps, the old version was originally installed, or the latest, however, is incorrect. Go to Add or Remove Programs (Programs and Features in Windows 7) and uninstall the previous version of Samsung Kies. Then you should clean the registry - for example, using the CC Cleaner program, but this is not required.
After uninstalling the program, you need to restart your computer and install its latest version by downloading it from the official Samsung Kies website. It is recommended to disable your antivirus software before installation. When installing the program, select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.

Other times Samsung Kies might not see your phone

Sometimes the reason may be that a file with a too long extension (for example, too weighty or large) is saved on the memory card or in the built-in memory of the mobile device. You can try removing the memory card. If such a file is still in the phone, you can temporarily move them to a separate folder on your PC. It is better not to delete those files whose purpose is unknown, and at the end of the work, just copy them back.

If the reason has not yet been found, it is better to try to contact a specialist.

More often the problem lies in the computer drivers, but updating the drivers through the device manager will not help, it will only help if you have a disk with the necessary drivers, it is much more convenient - device manager - select phone - (right-click) properties - (then the tab ) information and copy the device instance code - now you can search for the required driver on the network.

Every user of a mobile device knows well that it is easier to control a phone from a computer. It often happens that the phone does not connect to the computer. There are many reasons why the phone won't connect to the computer.

In the current age of progress, phone publishers have developed a very convenient and important function with which you can "dump" information from your computer to your cell phone or vice versa.

You can view your SMS messages, contacts available in the unit, correct them, study the call log and view files on the memory card and carry out many other useful operations.

This function consists in connecting a mobile phone with a memory card to a personal computer via a USB cable.

The phone does not connect to the computer via a USB cable: possible reasons

1. To connect a mobile to a PC, you need a telephone, USB cable and, of course, a personal computer. If you have all this in stock, then, first of all, you need to check all the components for operability and integrity.

Sometimes it happens that the cable is damaged, that is, one of the wires of the wire is broken. In this case, it is necessary to replace the cable, otherwise you will not be able to connect.

2. Careless handling of the phone may damage the connector and prevent contact with the wire. In this case, you can try to wipe the cable contacts with cotton wool soaked in alcohol. This will remove dust and oxide from the contacts. If these manipulations did not help, and there is still no contact with the cable, you will have to replace the connector.

3. It is also important that the devices have USB sockets in working order. Sometimes the reason why the phone does not connect to the computer may be the inoperative state of the USB ports of the system unit, that is, they are disabled in the motherboard software interface.

You can connect the USB ports by entering the BIOS and performing some simple manipulations for the user. If all the listed components are in perfect order, then we are looking for the reason in another.

4. In many cases, there is no need to install any additional software manually to connect a gadget to a computer. There are specific utilities that, when a new connected device is detected, allow you to reset the necessary software on the network.

In practice, the connection process is as follows: first, your computer and mobile phone are turned off. You make a connection between the PC and the gadget using a USB cable, while turning on both the mobile and personal computers.

The Windows program, after it is fully loaded, detects a new device connected via USB, while determining its model and drivers to work in full.

Windows then downloads this software to your PC and installs it. Basically, this is enough for connecting a phone and a computer.

If your personal computer has recognized the phone, then the gadget, all your folders on its memory card, and much more are detected very quickly.

5. Very often it is necessary to reboot the computer after the automatic installation of the mobile drivers for them to work in full. Users are faced with the problem that in the automatic mode the installation of the drivers was not entirely correct or did not go through at all.

If in automatic mode the Windows program does not see your gadget and cannot identify it and, of course, there is no way to download the program from the Internet, you must install the drivers for your mobile phone manually.

In modern phone models, complete with various devices, suppliers put in a special disc containing software and that is designed specifically for your gadget model.

You just need to launch this disk, and install the software for your phone on your Windows PC. After that, you need to reboot the PC. After the reboot has passed, the phone should be detected.

If the manufacturers did not include such a disc in the kit for the phone, then you yourself will have to download it from the Internet. Download from the official website of the manufacturer of your phone model.

Phone developers, on their official sites, post this kind of software for download. You just need to find the drivers on the official website and download them. Only when downloading, please note that the software is specifically for your gadget model.

It will not be difficult for you and will not take much time. With the correct download and installation of drivers, after restarting your PC, your mobile should be determined.

6. For autonomous full-fledged operation of a mobile phone and a computer, you need to download the Active Sync synchronizer from the Internet. If you have Windows 7 installed on your PC, then you need the Windows Mobile Device Center program, and if you use Windows XP, then ActiveSync will do, but the versions must be at least 4.5.

This is exactly the asset with which you can connect your gadget to your computer. We recommend downloading these programs from the official Microsoft website.

When connecting the phone to the PC, select the connection mode in the phone interface and you're done. Everything is very simple and fast. If you did the right thing, then your Windows mobile phone will definitely detect.

The phone does not connect to the computer via wi-fi

The phone can be connected to a PC using wi-fi. If such a connection does not occur, then you should follow these steps.

Set up your computer first. Then set your mobile settings. The connection via wi-fi of the gadget and the PC provides the ability to exchange information without a wired connection.

To configure the computer, you need to go to the control panel and select the "Network" item, and in it the "Internet" sub-item.

At this point, left-click to change the adapter parameters. Then select the item "Add" and "Create a computer network", and in the opened window "Computer".

Then change the properties of the wireless connection in the "Internet Protocol version 4" tab. This item is in the same folder. Enter your PC data as parameters.

In the phone settings, select "Connections", and then wi-fi, then the name of the network that you gave to your computer.

After that, the connection settings will appear, where enter the same data as on the computer, and simply save them. Click on the connection. The connection has been established.

Quite often, when using Samsung Kies, users are unable to connect to the program. She simply does not see the mobile device. There can be many reasons for this problem. Let's consider what could be the case.

In Samsung Kies, there is a special wizard that can fix the connection problem. This method is suitable if the computer sees the phone, but the program does not.

You need to click "Troubleshooting a connection error" and wait a while until the wizard completes its work. But as practice shows, this method rarely works.

Faulty USB connector and cable

Your computer or laptop has multiple USB ports. Due to their frequent use, they can break. Therefore, if Samsung Kies does not see the phone, pay attention to whether the computer itself can see it.

To do this, you need to unplug the cord from the device and plug it back in. A window with the connection status should be displayed in the lower right corner. If this is not the case, then reconnect the phone through a different connector.

Also, the problem may be a cable malfunction. If you have a spare, try connecting through it ..

Virus check

It is not uncommon for malware to block access to various devices.
Run a full scan with your antivirus program.

For reliability, check your computer with one of the special utilities:,. They can scan your computer without stopping the main antivirus.

Drivers

Connectivity issue may be caused by old drivers or missing drivers.

To solve the problem, you need to go to "Device Manager", find your phone in the list. Next, click on the device with the right mouse button and select "Update driver".

If there is no driver, download it from the official site and install it.

Wrong choice of program version

On the website of the manufacturer of the program Samsung Kies, three versions are provided for download. Look closely at the ones for Windows. The brackets indicate which version should be selected for a particular model.

If the choice was made incorrectly, the program must be uninstalled, downloaded and installed the appropriate version.

As a rule, after all the actions done, the problem disappears and the phone successfully connects to the program.

Many Samsung phone owners use the Samsung Kies app to connect their phone to a computer, which makes it easier to work with a phone connected to a PC. But sometimes it happens that Kies cannot see the phone. What to do in this case?

Maybe a computer problem?

First, it's worth making sure that the problem is really with the Samsung Kies application, and not with the computer. Does the computer see the phone as a connected device? If not, then the problem may be with the computer (say, with the USB port or with the drivers). In this case, general tips will help for those cases when or other USB devices:

  • check USB ports
  • check drivers
  • scan the system for viruses

Hardware Ways to Solve Phone Connection Problem

If your Samsung is detected in the system, but Kies does not see the phone, there are several ways to solve the problem.

  1. First, try closing the program, unplugging the cable and plugging it back in: sometimes it helps.
  2. You can try plugging the cable into a different port, always on the back of your computer, not the front. And it is advisable to connect directly, and not through an extension cord.

Important! Do not launch the program until the operating system "sees" the phone.

  3. You should also check the connection settings in the phone menu, select Samsung Kies in the PC connection settings.
  4. Also try to select "USB debugging" in the phone settings under Connection → USB. You can additionally restart your phone (turn it off and turn it back on) - it certainly won't get any worse, but sometimes restarting the phone helps to cope with the problem.

Reinstalling the driver on the phone

However, reconnecting the cable and / or restarting the phone does not help in all cases. If even after that Kies does not see the phone, try reinstalling the drivers on the phone first.

Click the upper left line in the program and select "Install Driver" or "Restore Driver".

If that doesn't work, update the drivers through the device manager

  1. Control Panel
  2. device Manager
  3. Find the phone in the list, right-click and select "Update drivers".

If the problem is with Samsung Kies

If reinstalling the driver does not help, try reinstalling the program itself. Perhaps it was installed incorrectly, or you have an outdated version.

Reinstalling Samsung Kies

  1. First, uninstall Samsung Kies through Add or Remove Programs (in Windows 7, this section of Control Panel is called Programs and Features).
  2. Then you need to clean the registry from the "traces" left there by the Kies program.

Important! You can only manually clean the registry if you are an experienced user and know what you are doing! If you are not aware of what the registry is and how to work with it, use a program for (for example, CC Cleaner) or do not touch the registry at all.

  3. After uninstalling the program, restart your computer and reinstall Samsung Kies. Install the current, most recent version of the program: sometimes the reason that Kies does not see the phone is an outdated version of the application, with the new version everything should work.
  4. You need to download Samsung Kies from the official website of the application.
  5. Before installation, it is advisable to disable the antivirus and firewall, and the program must be installed with administrator rights (right-click on the installation file and select "Run as administrator" in the context menu).

If the problem is caused by inability to scan adequately

Sometimes Kies does not see the phone due to the fact that a file with a too long extension is saved in the phone memory or on the memory card. When connected, the application scans the phone's memory for media files. If a file with a long extension comes across, the scanning process gets lost and starts over, as a result the phone cannot connect.

If the problem is with long file extension:

  1. First, try removing the memory card: if the problematic file is on it, the phone without the card should connect normally via Kies.
  2. If the file is on the phone itself, connect the phone to the PC in removable disk mode and copy all media files to a separate folder on the computer, and delete them from the phone.

Important! Do not delete files whose origin you do not know!

  3. If that helps, when you're done using Samsung Kies, just copy the files back.

As you can see, there are several reasons why Kies cannot see the phone, and several ways to fix this problem. If you cannot connect your phone via Samsung Kies, do not despair: first try all possible solutions, and only then contact the specialists.

Most owners of Samsung mobile devices use the Samsung Kies application to make it easier to connect their gadget to a computer and to more easily exchange information between devices. But it often happens that the computer does not see the phone. Where to find the cause of the malfunction and how can it be corrected?

Computer does not see Samsung phone

If your PC doesn't recognize your device as a connected device, don't get discouraged right away. Perhaps the USB ports are out of order - try, as an option, to connect to another computer. Update system drivers and scan your operating system for viruses.

If the PC recognizes the connected device, then problems should be looked for in the settings of the mobile gadget or application.

Samsung Kies can't see my phone

So, the operating system recognized your device, but the Kies app stubbornly claims that nothing is connected. First of all, pull out the USB cable from the device and close the program. Then reconnect the gadget to the PC (as an option, you can select a different USB port, but do not use extension cords) and try to launch the Kies application until the icon of the connected device appears.

A common reason why Samsung Kies can't see your phone is in the settings of your mobile device. Go to the menu item "PC connection" and put a mark on the Kies application there. It is also worth choosing the "USB Debugging" option in the "Connection" menu item. If it still does not help, then restart the device in case of a system failure - in many cases this was an unexpected solution to this problem.

If even now Samsung Kies does not see the phone, then you need to uninstall and reinstall the mobile device drivers. To do this, click "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Device Manager" - "Mobile Device", right-click on the entry, select "Properties" and in the window that appears, press the "Delete" button. Reboot your computer and then install the official manufacturer's drivers for your gadget. Then try to connect again.

If the method above did not work, and the phone still does not connect to Kies, reinstall the application itself. Maybe there were errors during installation, there was a system crash during the last session, or you just have an old version of the application. Click "Start", then "Add or Remove Programs" (this menu item in Windows 7 is called "Programs and Features"), remove the Kies application. After completing this procedure, you need to clean the registry from possible "traces". For these purposes, it is better to use the capabilities of programs that specialize in cleaning the registry (for example, CC Cleaner).

After cleaning the registry, restart your computer and reinstall the program. You can download the latest, most up-to-date version of the application on the manufacturer's official website. Disable your firewall and antivirus before starting the installation process. Do not forget that the application should be installed under an account with administrator rights.

Also, the reason why Kies does not see the phone may be a file with an incorrect length extension contained in the device's memory. The device tries to read all available files, and a software failure often occurs on such extensions, which ultimately leads to connection errors.

Remove the memory card and connect the device to the PC. If it helps, then the problem is in the removable media. Otherwise, set “Connect as a USB flash drive” in the device settings, connect it to a PC and copy the necessary files. Then you can return them back at any time.

There are many reasons why a PC won't see a Samsung phone. Try all of the above options, and only then call a specialist.

As a rule, if the computer does not see the Android phone connected to it, then the problem looks like this: the charging process is displayed on the smartphone screen, but there is no access to the files on it and to the device itself. In this article, you will learn why the computer cannot see Samsung phone via USB.

The reasons may be as follows:

Damaged USB cable

A faulty cable is not always immediately visible. Very often, the charging wire can fail without obvious external signs. The reason for this is the substandard devices that swarm the market.

To test the functionality of the USB cable, just connect it to another computer, and for greater reliability, to another phone. If these actions did not give a result, then the wire needs to be replaced.

Damaged computer USB port

It will not work to fix the port without the help of a specialist, but it is very easy to check it. If the computer does not recognize the smartphone, then you need to connect through a different USB port. It helped - it means the reason was found, no - we go further.

System problems in the phone

Sometimes the problem of lack of connection is solved very simply: turn off the smartphone, remove the battery from it for a few seconds, return it to its place and turn on the device. Simple and effective.

Broken telephone jack

If the phone was damaged by water, or its connector was subjected to mechanical damage, then perhaps this is the problem. Alas, if cleaning the socket does not work, then only replacing the damaged part will help.

Incorrect connection settings

In the device settings, you need to find the USB connection menu to the computer. In many Samsung models, it is located under Memory\u003e Properties. If by default there is a check mark next to using USB as a modem - remove it, find the item “Media device” and activate it.

Driver problems

They are solved by installing drivers from the "native" disk, or downloading them from the manufacturer's official website.

Also, the problem may lie in the power off of some ports on the computer. You can check this by going to the "Control Panel", finding in it the item "Hardware and Sound"\u003e \u200b\u200b"Power"\u003e "Power". Next, open the appropriate settings and click on changing additional parameters. In the menu that opens, open the USB parameters, and then the parameters for temporarily disabling the USB port. Change its value to “Forbidden” and activate it with the “Apply” button.

Device driver problems

In the "Device Manager" item "Portable devices" should be without any warning signs. You should also check the operability of the device through the "Properties". If it is not there, then you need to reinstall the corresponding driver.

Another solution is to update your smartphone drivers. On the Samsung Galaxy A5, as well as on other models of the brand, this can be done using the Samsung Kies software.

Malfunction of the Android OS or viruses

In this case, cleaning the phone with an antivirus, resetting the settings to the factory settings, or flashing it completely can help.

As you can see, there can be a lot of options as to why the connected Samsung phone is not found by the computer, so you need to be patient to find a solution. We hope you succeed!

  • features of the custom firmware installed on a specific device;
  • third-party software installed on the device and / or PC, a conflict between them, etc.;
