This layout promised ample opportunities that can be obtained from this device. And thanks to the online store Opt In China, which is engaged in direct deliveries at wholesale prices of equipment from China and which provided a sample for today's review, we can take a closer look at this work of Asian electronics.

The delivery set is Spartan - the repeater itself with an American plug without an adapter and instructions in Chinese. We throw it out right away, since it is difficult to understand something from it, but the device itself contains all the necessary data, which, with even a little experience of WiFi connection, will give all the necessary information.

On the front panel there are 4 information LEDs and the inscription "WiFi Repeater". There is no other marking, so we can assume with a 99% probability that it was made, as they say, “on the knee”. This impression is reinforced by the main inputs, which are carelessly placed relative to the slots in the case:

LAN and WAN ports, Reset button and USB port.

Although opening the lid, I did not find any strong flux smudges or inaccurately soldered elements there - everything was done neatly. Inside we have a Ralink RT5350F chip, which in theory will provide your wireless network with speeds up to 150 Mbps.

On the reverse side, there are connection and configuration data:

• IP - 192.168.169.1
• Login password - admin

• WiFi password - 12345678

Well, let's connect - plug the device into a power outlet and connect via WiFi or cable via the LAN port. The first time you connect, no password is required.

We go to the admin panel through the browser using its IP address, but before that it is advisable to manually set the IP of the computer from the same subnet as the repeater, for example 192.168.169.2. With automatic settings, the connection did not always work adequately.

We translate the menu on the link into English and go to the “Repeater” section - repeating the WiFi signal from the router is the main declared function of this device. Here we are presented with the settings interface for the main wireless network, from which we will receive a signal. Unfortunately, for some reason he could not find mine, which was handed out by the Xiaomi router - he connected to TP-Link.

After applying the settings and rebooting, the repeater did not connect me to the Internet - alas ... I say this with 100% certainty, since I tried more than once to different SSIDs and mistakes when entering the password were excluded - my copy refused to work as a WiFi repeater.

Ok, go back to the admin start page and select "Advanced Settings". In the "Operation Mode" section, I found three options for the operating mode: smart, repeater and router. I still did not understand what "smart" is, but I decided to try the router mode.

After rebooting, we can configure the rest of the sections, primarily the WAN to receive the Internet. The settings are all standard, note that there is no L2TP connection type.

I will not consider other configuration items - everything is basic here, such as assigning a separate SSID for the repeater network and DHCP server settings, and there is nothing additional, such as working on a schedule or filtering connections by MAC address, or prohibiting viewing certain web addresses.

Honestly, I still don't understand what the USB port is for, because there is no section in the admin panel for configuring mobile modems, or for flash drives, or for printers.

And at the end, of course, we measured the speed received from this device in router mode - let me remind you that it never worked as a repeater.

A wi-fi repeater is one of the most effective ways to extend your signal range. Among the large number of offers, some prefer the more expensive options from a specialty store, others do not want to pay almost double the amount for the same functions.
