Once again, I'm not crazy about Samsung, but I can't deny that they are innovating. It was their technologies, embedded by edge that made me reconsider my attitude and even command respect. What I will tell you about in this review. Well, let's start!

Shock resistance

Compared to last year's model, the Samsung Galaxy s 7 edge not only grew in size due to the increased battery, but also became stronger. When creating the phone, reinforced frames (aluminum alloy No. 6013) were used, the design of the smartphone was completely revised, anyway, the blows did less damage to the insides and glasses of the new Galaxy s 7 edge ... So you can say after examining the gadget for all its technical characteristics, but what is it like?

While writing this article, I looked at several Crash tests of this device. In one of them, a kilogram hammer is thrown onto a smartphone, and then they hit it on the display. In the first five hits, you start to see the matrix, but the sensor continues to work. In a more real test, one might say everyday, the smartphone was dropped from the level of the belt, head (approximately 182 cm) and a height of 3 meters. The phone was compared with the iPhone 6s Plus. After reviewing more than one Crash Test of these flagships, I noticed this feature: the 6s Plus bounces more from the ground, and the s7 edge has practically no bounce. This can be explained by the design: most of the iPhone is made of aluminum, while Samsung has only aluminum edges, and all other surfaces are glass. But this is the key when falling: Samsung does not cushion itself.

From waist height - both phones behave well. Smartphones get minor scratches, which are not a problem as such. Even the fall of the screen down, both gadgets withstand "Hurray!" But from the height of the head, the situation is already changing somewhat: when falling on the side edge (which, by the way, only gets a small dent), the Galaxy s7 edge is covered with a web of cracks on the back cover, when the 6s Plus has only a small dent and a couple of scratches on the case. In the final part of the test, the flagships are thrown from the level of the ceiling of the apartment, and here the Galaxy s7 has no chance when it falls. The screen beats. While the iPhone, its rebound dampens this impact and the screen gets only a couple of new scratches.

But even after the crashes, the phones continued to work correctly and respond. The conclusion will be as follows: Galaxy s7 edge is very good in terms of shock resistance, but loses to the iPhone in shock resistance.

The smartphone is comfortable in the hand : nothing crashes, everything is in place and despite the big screen - everything is within reach. The smartphone is not bulky: the feeling of size is very similar to the Galaxy s7, but with a 5.5 screen. My hands did not notice any flaws with the arrangement of buttons or other elements.

I will not say that I am generally delighted with the color of the phones of this brand. It seems to me very unnatural, even with the most calm screen setting, but this is, so to speak, a matter of taste. I am convinced that the color of the iPhone is better: it is more natural, and the screen does not get tired of the eyes. Although the color is not for my taste, I really liked that the smartphone does not fade in the sun, for which the developers are honored and praised.

I see no point in discussing the expansion and density of pixels. In this matter, all today's flagships show excellent results, but it's worth saying about the usability of the screen with working edges. I am delighted with this idea. With it, the 5.5-inch diagonal is used as conveniently and productively as possible, plus the smartphone does not get oversized and therefore fits perfectly in the hand. If, again, to return to the comparison with the iPhone, the 6s Plus is much worse in the hand and easier to drop. What can I say, because of these huge frames at the edges of the iPhone screen, even the Chinese Meizu M2 note or Pro 5 lies in the hand more confidently.

The side edges of the s7 edge provide it with maximum use of the "dead zones" of the screen, which, by the way, have a convenient menu. I appreciated the idea, my phone also has a 5.5-inch display, but working with the Samsung screen was much more efficient and enjoyable.

I have the most positive impression after using the new edge display, but here's the aspect: it will be easier to knock or break such glass than the same s7, and even though the company swears that it is over-strengthened, and the like, I don't believe in it. In crash tests, the iPhone's glass holds up much better. And then there's the price issue. Glass on the s6 edge + cost space money and I dare to assume that the price will not fall with the new model.

So there are two conclusions: 1 - do not drop and treat the phone as carefully as possible, 2 - when buying it, be ready to give a third of the amount to replace the screen in case of a fall.

Super fast memory is never enough

Last year, the Korean company decided to ditch microSD, but this caused huge outrage among fans and smartphone owners, and this year Samsung has returned the technology to its flagships. As of this writing, the phone supports flash drives up to 200 GB, but the company promises to support cards up to 2 TB soon. I also remind you that the new flagship uses high-speed memory of the UFS 2.0 standard, which provides the fastest possible write speed of the file system.
