The most secure smartphones. Shockproof and waterproof phones New Rugged Smartphones

Like many active people, I had to make a difficult choice between office glamor and total security.

Many models included in last year's reviews have not lost their relevance now, but I will not repeat myself and below we will talk about new phones. I want to immediately thank all the readers for the links that you sent to past reviews.

As before, only smartphones will be presented in the review, because without normal functionality a modern person does not need communication.

Let me remind you the criteria for a secure phone:
- it should be more office than a protected device;
- screen size about 4-4.5 ";
- A-GPS;
- Ability to control the phone with gloves or the presence of hardware buttons for accepting / rejecting a call;
- OS Android 4.X;
- Impact resistance and water resistance.

A little more detail on the latter. Using a mobile phone for more than two years, I came to the conclusion that for me personally, shock resistance is much more important than moisture resistance. In all my long life together with mobile phones (it will soon be 20 years old), not a single phone of mine has suffered from water, but falls happen much more often. How this will affect this rating will become clear later.

So where to start this time? Let's go with Motorola! For a long time I gave the palm to my Motorola Defy + complete with a special case. Unfortunately Moto did not develop a successful model. To be absolutely precise, it did, but in the wrong direction. Moto released Defy mini and Defy XT, but this was not a development, but some sort of dying convulsion. Defy + is good, but at the moment it is completely outdated.

Nevertheless, Moto has two products that need to be mentioned.

Rugged phone-computer Motorola TC55

The main drawback is that it is practically not common in the CIS, so there are problems with Russification and other issues. If there were still 2 GB of RAM, it would be generally very tasty. The water-repellent coating is certainly not sealed Defy +, on the other hand, the coating is applied not only to the case, but also to the internal boards, and one can hope that a short bathing for the Motorola Droid Razr M can pass without sad consequences. In all other respects, the device is noticeably better than the Defy +. Take note.

Screen: 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD (540 x 960) weight 126 g
RAM 1 GB size 60.9 (x) 122.5 (y) 8.3 (z
dual-Core 1.5GHz processor Battery: 2000 mAh

Rugged phone Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro and XCover 2

P4 is a typical super-protected device in a yellow casing, complies with the international protection class IP-67 and the American military standard MIL-STD 810, but inside it contains the stuffing before last year - Android 2, 5-megapixel camera, 800 MHz processor, so it can be ignored. The second device is a little fresher:

The R413 looks more stylish than the P4, although it's a gray mouse by modern standards. The smartphone has a 4.1 "screen, but in other respects everything is also sad. Especially surprising is the battery capacity for a phone that is planned to be taken outside of civilization. In general, these are ordinary Chinese smartphones under a sort of Russian brand.

Screen: 4.1 inches, 480x800 Pixel weight 177 g
RAM 512MB size 132 x 69 x 14.5
mTK6575 ARM V7 processor, 1000 MHz Battery: 1450 mAh

Another visually attractive smartphone from the Swedish manufacturer Handheld

Rugged Smartphone Handheld X1

Handheld offers a whole series of mobile devices for various purposes, I will focus on one of the most suitable for extreme sports - the X1 smartphone based on Android 4.X Official website of the manufacturer http://www.nautiz.com/x1/

The smartphone is made in a European-style office case enclosed in a small "bumper", but at the same time meets all the necessary standards for dust / moisture resistance, vibration resistance and falls from height (IP67, MIL-STD-810G).

It would be interesting to hold it in your hands in order to compare it with Chinese counterparts in tactile sensations. The smartphone is positioned for the corporate sector, so it is likely to have an exorbitant price, and even in euros. The technical characteristics are at the level of the average, 1 GB of RAM is already pleasing, but the camera was delivered with 5MP. matrix. And really, why do we need a camera in the corporate sector?

weight 180 gr
RAM 1GB size 125 x 65 x 15
Battery: 1530 mAh + add.

Perhaps so far this phone is the most stylish of the really shock-resistant devices.

It's time to move on to "heavy" models. There will be few of them today. And I'll start with one of the most visible smartphones of the past year.

Protected Caterpillar CAT B15

Official site http://catphones.com/phones/b15-smartphone.aspx
True, last year it was called Cat 10, but now it's 2014 and the new Cat 15 model has been released. First of all, the phone has become more urban in design, without losing its protected properties - which is what we need!

However, I was in a hurry with the last statement, for example, for example, it is no longer declared about resistance to aggressive environments, but you can survive without it. Another plus of the smartphone is that the screen can be operated with wet fingers. Or in the rain, for example. The moment is very important, I have repeatedly come across a situation when sweat from my cheek got on the phone during a conversation and the phone began to live its own life, not controlled by anyone. It's good when the screens just flickered before your eyes, worse when the smartphone started calling just about anyone, and it was not at all easy to stop this mess.

Unfortunately, it was not without losses - for some reason, they decided to remove the flash in the new version. A very incomprehensible solution, and replace the hardware buttons. The rest of the designers decided to follow an evolutionary path and, again, unfortunately, the technical parameters of the smartphone have changed slightly. Everywhere a little bit:

Screen: 4 inches, 480x800 Pixel weight 180 gr
RAM 1GB size 125 x 65 x 15
processor Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 1 GHz dual-core Battery: 1530 mAh + add.

In general, it turned out to be a very good device for those who really care about shock resistance.

However, this is far from the end. There is an even more interesting and no less secure phone. The main distinguishing feature of which is the GIANT screen.

Rugged phone Oranginal J4 5.3 "

A 5.3 "screen with which you can not only shave cleanly in the tent, but also redirect the flow of sunlight from one side to the other! The giant screen is enclosed in a housing that meets the highest security requirements.

This is where the positive emotions end, let's move on to the harsh truth of life. The widescreen phone has the simple Chinese name J4. With an incredible screen diagonal, the resolution is only 540 × 960 pixels. All other parameters are approximately the same. Regular dual-core processor, 1 GB RAM.

Screen: 5.3 inches, 540 × 960 Pixel weight 243 g
RAM 1GB size 155.6 x 82.9 x 15.55
tMediaTek MTK6577 Cortex-A9 processor 1 GHz, 2 cores Battery: 3000 mAh + add.

I singled out this model for two reasons - first, of course, a giant screen, and secondly, to introduce you to the manufacturer - a large Chinese company http://www.techfaithwireless.com which produces a fairly large range of protected phones and smartphones, which then walk the world under other brands.

If you like to draw on the tablet screen and do not want to part with your hobby during a camping trip, perhaps this smartphone will be a good solution for you. Although I would not rush to conclusions. Because there are no limits to perfection. If you are not enough of all of the above (or in some places a lot) there is another protected smartphone especially for those who need a smaller screen, and everything else is bigger - more processor, resolution, memory, especially for such demanding comrades there is a super-smartphone Runbo x6

Protected phone Runbo x6

Not everyone likes the Chinese name? But in the case of the Cat 10-15, the "ears" of the popular Chinese model AGM Rock V5 also stick out in all directions. Therefore, we will be condescending, especially since the apparatus is worth it.

Runbo X6 is a top-tier claim in almost all respects.

This is an excellently protected device, with a screen large enough for this type of phone, with a huge 13 megapixel camera, a 4-core processor and as much as 2 GB of RAM, on which Android 4.2 should feel great, with a bunch of built-in sensors - G-Sensor , illumination, approximation, gyroscope, pressure, magnetic, temperature, accelerometer, compass and with a built-in full-fledged radio station - power 1W, range up to 7 km, UHF frequency 400-470 MHz.

To summarize this big phone is simply a huge battery. What will you have to pay for all this? Of course with money, but they just don't shock. But the weight of 400 grams and dimensions make you think hard.

Screen: 5 "1920x1080 weight 392 g
RAM 2 GB size 166 x 89 x 27
processor quad-core CortexTM-A9 processor with a frequency of 1.5Hz, Battery: 4200 mAh

In general, a miracle, not an apparatus. But big and heavy. Someone is quite satisfied. And some are not.

Well, that would seem to be enough, but in today's review I want to make an unexpected turn. Having been using a protected smartphone for more than two years, as well as by texting and reading reviews of owners of similar devices, I constantly encounter the desire - oh, if there was a transformer phone, all such an office / super-productive to work, on a trip / hike / swim / fly-in - once and protected. A seemingly unrealistic dream, but in reality it is not. There is a way out and everyone knows it.

Protected cases

Let's talk about a simple solution that can suit most of the extreme lovers, fishing, hunting and just showing off. The solution I tested on Motorola Defy +. You take the phone that suits you best in your everyday life and purchase an additional correct protective case for it. There is now a large selection of waterproof devices, which fall protection leaves much to be desired. For example Sony Xperia Z1, Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and many others. Having bought such a device, we get the highest possible performance and functionality at the moment, and when we get ready for training, on a trip, we put it in a shockproof case and all problems are solved! Unfortunately, the above models have one significant drawback - it's size. A phone with a screen under 5 "and even in a protective case is a very large and inconvenient thing. It will not fit into every pocket. And if you take a model with a smaller diagonal, then you have to sacrifice the technical side of the matter. Is there a compromise? Yes, it is, but about Let's get back to the protective cases.

The ideal case, in my opinion, is similar in design to the one that I had. This case consists of two parts - a hard outer case and a soft shell. Corresponding covers are available from various manufacturers for most of today's popular devices.

Here are some of them.

http://www.lifeproof.com/ - Cases for iPhone and Samsung.

http://www.seidioonline.com - Large selection of regular and rugged cases (eg Moto X) for a wide range of manufacturers.

http://griffintechnology.com/survivor/original is another store that offers a wide range of accessories for mobile phones, including armor-piercing cases, perhaps not too sophisticated, but reliable:

https://www.goballisticcase.com/ - excellent cases with a very nice design. I really liked it. Moreover, there are models that provide water resistance.

http://www.otterbox.com - This is perhaps the most expensive site, the cost of covers reaches almost $ 100.

http://www.case-mate.com is not a specialized manufacturer of armor-piercing covers, rather the opposite, but in his product line you can find the covers that we need. For example, for Samsung Galaxy - it is very similar to the case that I had on Defy +, but it went through a very tough operation.

It seems to me that this list will be more than enough. The main disadvantage when using covers is the increasing size and considerable price. You can put up with the size, because any phone that promises to withstand a fall from a height of 1.5 meters will have the appropriate dimensions. The price for a good case usually ranges from $ 25- $ 50. Considering the cost of top-end smartphones, the rise in price is not fatal.

But let's go back a little. For a long time I was in thought - which way to go? Weak but super reliable or powerful but big? The main problem is the completely incomprehensible policy of smartphone manufacturers. For some reason, they strive to make their flagships as large as possible, although for normal operation and portability, the ideal size for me, like for many others, is around 4.3 ". At the same time, the fashion went on to release a mini-version with a smaller screen size, but for some reason with worse characteristics. Why can't you release the same model with 4.3 "5" 5.6 "screens? Even if they are all at the same price, the suits in sizes 48-50-52 have the same price and this does not surprise anyone. Release a line of phones and let everyone choose the size that suits them best!

Thank gods, people have finally appeared who have thought of this before. We meet:

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact

For the first time, a manufacturer is releasing an almost exact copy of its flagship. The changes touched the screen, obviously, the battery, but at the same time new and very remarkable functionality was added - the phone can now be operated with gloves!

As a result, we have an aluminum body, full water resistance, a high-performance platform, a recognizable brand, screen control under water and with gloves, a camera with a matrix of 20.7 MP. It remains to wait for the release of a cover corresponding to this size and a good version of a smartphone for an office extreme is ready. The option is certainly not cheap, but it is actually a top model. The disadvantages include the large physical size of the case for such a screen diagonal, but we will assume that the size could not be reduced, since it was necessary to cram all the stuffing from the older model.

Probably on this positive note, and will end today's review. There are many interesting protected phones, there was no such variety of choice before. As they say for all tastes. Based on the current operating conditions of my mobile devices, for now I see a variant with Sony Experia Z1 Compact + armor-piercing case.

By the way, in addition to secure phones, there are also smart watches, for example, see. . I recommend!

The most interesting "babushkophones" 2013-2014

Only a few years have passed since the appearance on the market of a new category of mobile phones under the self-explanatory name "babushkofony", but during this time their assortment has been replenished with a sufficiently large number of interesting models in all respects. Within the framework of this article, the most recent of them - 2013-2014 years of release will be considered.

Review of Samsung GT-E1272 Cell Phone

Push-button clamshell phones are not that rare now, but far from being fashionable. Their choice is extremely scarce in comparison with ordinary phones. But such a form factor still has fans, because it is very convenient in some matters. What is left for these people to do? Study the few available options carefully. For example, Samsung GT-E1272.

Review of the top smartphone Xiaomi Mi4. Chinese break away

After Apple released its iPhone, only two companies dominated the smartphone market - it and Samsung. But unexpectedly in recent years, the leaders have grown up powerful new competitors - the Chinese. Founded just a few years ago, Xiaomi has now become the third largest smartphone-selling company on the planet. And with their Xiaomi Mi4 smartphone, they generally want to bypass Apple.

Review of Asus ZenFone 2, the new powerful smartphone

Somehow little is said about Asus, but the company makes excellent smartphones. The best proof of this is the Asus ZenFone 2, the most powerful device on the market for its time. It even surpasses the Samsung Galaxy S5, although it costs less. This is the first smartphone with 4 GB of RAM, and there is also an original control system.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) review: lineup update

The 2016 Samsung Galaxy A5 smartphone is an improved version of the acclaimed 2015 gadget of the same name. A noticeable difference from the previous model was the appearance - now the design of the device is as close as possible to the Samsung Galaxy S6. Of course, there have been some changes in the hardware.

Review of Sony Xperia M4 Aqua - a real underwater smartphone

Sony is not having the best of times, and waterproofing is not the hottest attribute of a smartphone. Still, the Xperia M4 Aqua is a great smartphone. Inexpensive, beautiful, with excellent performance. Moreover, she is not afraid of falling into the pool. Even if such an excellent device does not help the company, then it’s definitely gone.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 and Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro review

Xiaomi is the most successful company among the Chinese. It is gradually gaining markets even from Apple and Samsung. Her next device immediately collected millions of pre-orders. And, apparently, deservedly so: the characteristics and the price are very tasty here. If you are not afraid of the phrase "Chinese company", Redmi 3 is definitely worth paying attention to.

Review of the smartphone Lenovo S90: replenishment in the row of iPhone clones

Almost immediately after the release of the iPhone 6, another clone of it appeared, this time the rather reputable Chinese company Lenovo decided to plagiarize. Even unbiased users note the significant similarities between her S90 Sisley and another Apple creation. Let's see how things are with the general features in the hardware component.

Samsung Galaxy J5 / J500 smartphone review

In May 2015, Samsung presented two new Galaxy J series smartphones at once.They were Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7, which went on sale next month. This article will focus on the youngest representative of this series - the Samsung Galaxy J5 smartphone, which turned out to be one of the most successful and balanced solutions of this company in recent years.

Review of rugged smartphones 2013-2014

About three years have passed since the publication of the article dedicated to secure mobile devices (“Protected mobile phones: design features and operating conditions”), and during this time the market has been filled with a fairly large number of interesting models. This time, only smartphones will be included in the review, which have almost completely displaced ordinary dialers from this market. Well, now, having such a device at hand, you can squeeze the maximum out of it, and not only make calls with it and send messages in extreme situations.

Here, in principle, flagship smartphones with a degree of protection of the case IP67 and IP68 will be left out. Yes, they provide protection against the penetration of dust and moisture, some can withstand immersion in water for several minutes quite adequately, but it is still impossible to call them fully protected. They are still easy to disable in harsh operating conditions, their glass is easy to break, and a thin case (and almost all flagships have it like that) with an impressive screen size can be irrevocably damaged. Smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 mini (IP67 in both models), Sony Xperia ZR (IP68) fall into a similar category; a device with similar characteristics is planned for the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. All of them are united by the fact that security is not put at the forefront when positioning, but is only a pleasant bonus to their already top characteristics. And we will stop at those models that scream with their whole appearance: with them, even into fire, even into water, even to war.

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones. the device is the only one in this review sold with the Android KitKat operating system already installed and additionally complies with the military standard 810G.

The Caterpillar Cat B15 Q model is a modified version of another popular smartphone from the same manufacturer - the Cat B15. which has been very popular for a long time. Both models have IP67 protection. As before, the screen here is optimized for operation in high humidity conditions - neither accidental splashes of liquid, nor a storm, nor submersion in water for half an hour to a depth of one meter will affect its functioning. As for falls, here a safe maximum will be a height of 1.8 m. Of course, one must take into account not only the height from which the apparatus falls, but also what it falls on - on the ground or on a concrete surface. Battery life is no less important parameter for a rugged smartphone than case features. Here we are guaranteed up to 16 hours of talk time, for which a standard 2000 mAh battery is responsible. Also, the device can withstand operation in the temperature range from -20 to +55 ° C.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the presence of a fast quad-core processor (MediaTek, model 6582M) makes it an ideal solution not only for performing direct duties, but also for games, entertainment and communication on social networks. On the road or traveling, support for Waves Audio technology will also be a valuable gift, which provides very high-quality multimedia sound and at the same time makes speech more intelligible.

As for the rest, the smartphone has turned out to be a mid-level device in terms of its characteristics: a four-inch touch screen, 1 GB of RAM, two simple cameras (for example, a front camera with a banal VGA resolution). The set of communications is standard: 3.5 mm audio jacks and Micro-USB, Bluetooth fourth version, GPS and Wi-Fi. For some reason, Cat erpillar decided to install the Global Shark Tracker application from the software, which is used to track sharks marked in a special way.

Outwardly, against the background of other rugged smartphones, Caterpillar Cat B15 Q looks quite elegant. Plastic and metal in its black and silver design form only strict lines without making the case too pretentious. There are no embossed protrusions and flashy yellow-orange inserts here either.

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones. the operating time, as close as possible to the operating time of a conventional push-button telephone. The device also received support for two SIM-cards.

This IP68-rated smartphone also boasts Dragontrail tempered glass from Japan's Asahi Glass. It rescues much better from mechanical damage than Gorilla Glass, which is more familiar to us. Very tight-fitting rubber plugs protect from moisture and dust penetration - to move them out of place, you need to make a fairly serious effort. There is also a carabiner mount on the case.

The hardware characteristics of the smartphone are absolutely not impressive and rather define it in entry-level mobile devices: Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play MSM8225 dual-core processor, Adreno 203 graphics accelerator, 768 MB of RAM, 4 GB of permanent memory. This set is complemented by a four-inch screen with a resolution of 800 × 480 pixels. The smartphone operates in both 2G and 3G networks, has a standard set of wireless communications, including GPS. Powered by Google Android 4.0.4, there are also two cameras: the main 8 megapixel and the front 0.3 megapixel.

Externally, the teXet TM-4104R X-driver evokes persistent associations with a tank, at least there is something so caterpillar in those black rubberized pads that go around it around the perimeter and at the same time soften the impact of a fall. An orange base is visible under the overlays. The result is a kind of two-layer illusion. The rear panel, which is partially made of metal, also has a characteristic "caterpillar" pattern; it itself is held on the case not due to latches, but due to several metal screws. Accordingly, to remove it, you will have to unscrew them.

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones. very rich equipment. There is also a "red laser", and an SOS emergency call button, and an impressive external antenna, and support for two SIM-cards for particularly economical and prudent owners. Plus, it has an impressive 3,800 mAh battery!

The Rivotek RT-550 is a Swiss knife among rugged smartphones. It has everything that the soul of an extreme traveler, a military man, or just a person who prefers universal and "indestructible" mobile gadgets may require. Its protection class is IP67, clearly not the maximum, and the screen is covered with not the most durable Gorilla Glass. It will, of course, protect it during a fall on the ground or asphalt, but rock ledges or just sharp stones will definitely leave serious damage on it. There is a carabiner loop on the back of the case.

In terms of hardware, we are dealing with a Mediatek MTK6577 dual-core processor (clocked at 1 GHz), 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of permanent memory. The resolution of the 4.3-inch screen is 480 × 800 dots. The smartphone is designed to work in GSM networks, has wireless modules Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS, as well as a digital compass, gravity sensor, altimeter and barometer. The operating system is the same as in the previous model, there are also two cameras. The device weighs 340 grams.

Protection of the body is represented here by rubberized convex pads with ribbed notches. Accordingly, it will not slide in the palm of your hand in any weather. The color scheme is in the best traditions of protected devices: black with yellow accents. The body halves are tightened together with ten Torx screws.

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones. the ability to use as a full-fledged radio station with a range of up to five kilometers. Communication works in the frequency range 400-480 MHz, suitable for areas where there is no coverage of a cellular operator. Also has two slots for SIM-cards of cellular operators.

The Ginzzu RS61D ULTIMATE smartphone complies with the IP67 protection class - not the highest, but quite protected from external influences. On the top end there is a plug that hides the connector for connecting an external antenna.

In terms of hardware, the smartphone looks a little more interesting in places than the previous models. Firstly, a quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz is involved here, and secondly, there is a fairly good 8 megapixel camera (there is no front one). Autonomy is average, it is provided by a 2600 mAh battery. A bit confusing is the amount of RAM (only 512 MB), taking into account not the oldest pre-installed OS - Android version 4.2 Jelly Bean. The usual memory is 4 GB, the set of communications is standard: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. In terms of weight, the smartphone also differs from competitors, but in the other direction - here we are dealing with only 183 grams. There were no surprises with the screen: 4 inches, resolution 480 × 854 pixels, Asahi Glass is used for protective purposes. And one more thing: this is the only smartphone in our review that can play radio without connecting a wired headset. There is also a built-in application "Walkie-talkie", its purpose is clear.

In appearance, the model makes an ambiguous impression. From the front side, the device looks like an ordinary touchscreen phone was placed in a very tough and brutal case with protective functions. In fact, of course, this is not the case: it is a monolithic structure that can be disassembled only by unscrewing four screws. The color of the case is gray-black, around the perimeter of the ends there is a relief plate, in which each button and connector has a protruding and well-noticeable frame.

What makes it stand out from most other rugged smartphones. the impressive size of the touch screen, plus it is the largest rugged smartphone at the time of launch.

The smartphone is protected in accordance with the international standard IP68, which is facilitated by its monolithic construction. Here you cannot remove the entire back panel, but there is a large flap at the bottom, under which you can find a slot for a SIM-card and a memory card. The battery can only be removed at a service center.

Of the characteristics, first of all, it is worth noting the screen: its diagonal is 5.3 inches, and the resolution is 540 × 960 pixels. This opens up a lot of opportunities for communication on social networks, working with Internet content and simply watching entertainment media content. At the same time, a fully equipped smartphone has an average weight of 245 grams. Of the hardware components, there is a dual-core MediaTek MT6577 with a frequency of 1 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, a set of standard wireless communications (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS). There are two cameras - the main one is 8 and the front one is 2 megapixels. Powered by a smartphone running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the battery capacity is 2900 mAh.

Externally, the RugGear RG970 Partner turned out to be quite bright thanks to the large amount of yellow plastic that bends around it around the perimeter and at the same time protects against impacts during a fall from a height. It evokes strong associations with large-sized construction equipment, although in general the contours of the hull can be called quite graceful, like the Caterpillar Cat B15 Q model.

Despite the fact that it is impossible to call protected smartphones very popular, the demand for them is confidently preserved. This can be seen at least by the variety of models that we see on sale. All manufacturers mentioned in this review have at least 2-3 devices of this type. Unfortunately, in technical terms, they cannot be called advanced, because they look more than modest against the background of most ordinary Android smartphones. However, it is pleasantly pleasing that their protective capabilities are becoming more and more interesting each time.

More than half of smartphones fail as a result of falling or falling into the body of water, and often repairs do not save the gadget. Unfortunately, even the most expensive flagship devices are not protected from such a sad fate. What to do if you want to keep your phone intact and safe as long as possible, or if you have to often be on business trips and travels, where dust and moisture are normal? It is better to pay attention to special devices that can withstand falls and survive for several minutes under water. We've selected the best rugged smartphones of 2017 to make your choice easier.

To start a few words about what a secure smartphone is... Outwardly, it is easy to distinguish it from ordinary gadgets by its powerful overall body with a metal frame and rubber pads. All such devices belong to a certain class of protection Ingress Protection Rating, orIP... After the letters IP are two digits: the first- level of protection against dust and dirt ingress, second - the level of protection against water ingress, where 0 - no protection, and 8 - the maximum level of protection. The table provides complete and descriptive information.

Turns out that rugged smartphonesIP68 andIP67 are the most reliable devices, and it is this level of protection that is worth focusing on if you need a gadget that “does not speak in fire and does not sink in water”, which you can take with you anywhere without worrying about its safety. These phones will survive a 2m drop and will be able to withstand 1m submersion for 30 minutes.

As for performance, screen and camera parameters, they are often average and quite sufficient to perform the vast majority of tasks. It is worth paying attention only to battery capacity, because smartphones of this kind assume that its owner can remain without access to electricity for a long time. Well, now let's go directly to overview of the most interesting models... We looked at dozens of options, and chose best rugged smartphonesappearing on the market in 2016/2017, with different capabilities and in different price categories.

This device is positioned as a tourist device, and you can take it on any trips, hikes, to the beach, to work, where there is dust, moisture, etc. The feature of this rugged smartphone is the presence of a radio, which operates at frequencies 400-470 MHz, power 1 W. In addition, the manufacturer has provided support a decent number of communication standards, as well as a lot of sensors and useful functions... In addition to the standard flashlight and IrDA, this device has altimeter, thermometer and barometer.Another important point is the duration of the work: 6000 mAh battery allows the device to be 950 hours of standby time or 22 hours of talk time.

In other respects, the smartphone is average, but it will cope with all the typical tasks of an ordinary user. The rubberized body provides the gadget with maximum durability. By the set of parameters, this is almost the best rugged smartphone.

Runbo F1 32Gb

This is the most powerful rugged smartphone, or at least one of them. The manufacturer has provided the device with a sturdy rubberized case with maximum protection and the ability to easily carry temperatures in the range from -20 to +60 0 С. Naturally, the screen covers the glass Gorilla Glass 3 and the battery provides long battery life. The manufacturer did not skimp on the filling: the smartphone pleases with decent performance, a sufficient supply of RAM, large screen withFullHD resolution and a pixel density of 401 ppi, good cameras and a full package of modern wireless technologies. You can only complain about the slightly dull sound from the speaker and the price.

Conquest S6 OCTA

Another great rugged smartphone with a powerful battery from the Conquest company. He has a filling wherever: a decent processor, a good supply of RAM and main memory. The screen and cameras are average, and the battery will last for 720 hours standby time or 30 hours of talk time.

The level of protection of the phone is maximum, the body has metal inserts, and there are also replaceable panels in the kit. The gadget can withstand serious drops, and glass is used to protect the screen Gorilla Glass 3 ... In addition, there is a possibility of operation with gloves. The gadget has practically no drawbacks, except for its dimensions, but this is a minus of all such devices.

Blackview BV6000

Such a productive filling in a rugged phone is rare, and at such a tempting price, and completely luxury. This is undeniably the best rugged smartphone in terms of value for moneyof all existing at the moment. One glance is enough to understand: before you is a solid apparatus. The body is made of metal, polycarbonate and fiberglass, there are powerful bolts, a reliable frame and sturdy plugs. The body is pleasant to the touch, and due to the 4.7-inch diagonal, the device turned out to be a little more compact than its competitors, which is good news. The gadget has successfully passed numerous experiments on pouring water and felting in the mud.

To praise the device stands for great screen, covered with a protective glass, a good battery and powerful filling. Just think! 8-core processor and 3 GB of RAM!Yes, this is more than enough to complete all tasks, and all this at the most favorable price.

Runbo X6 LTE

An excellent and reliable device in the strongest case. there is built-in radiowith a transmitter power of 2 W, magnetic sensor, barometer, thermometer and laser pointer... The smartphone is perfectly protected from shocks, which is evident from its impressive appearance. It should be noted that even for the category of protected smartphones this device is somewhat heavy and oversized. The manufacturer prudently completes the device with a screwdriver so that, if necessary, the case can be disassembled without problems. In addition to its strength and indestructibility, the device boasts good battery, excellent screen withFullHD resolution and good cameras. If such a device accidentally falls out of your pocket, you don't have to worry - it will remain safe and sound. If you look for flaws, then you can find fault with the processor, but the used one is enough to solve most standard tasks.

Blackview BV5000

  • protection IP 65/67;
  • 4-core processor 1 GHz;
  • screen 5 inches, resolution 1280 * 720;
  • battery 5000 mAh;
  • cameras 8 and 2 Mp;
  • weight 145 g;
  • the price is about $ 115.

Buy a secure smartphone and not go broke? Then Blackview BV5000 is for you! The model is also perfect for those who still cannot understand for sure whether such a bulky phone will be convenient to use. It is interesting that the manufacturer does not specify the level of protection of the smartphone, the sellers indicate IP67, although in fact the level of protection is somewhat lower. A plug, rubber gasket, and a solid case tell us that the device is dust-free. Some even forget nails with this device, leave it under water for a decent amount of time, and the functionality is not lost, while others complain that the gadget was damaged when dropped. The obvious advantages include excellent autonomy, all other parameters are implemented at an average level, which will be enough for most users.

Caterpillar S60

Before us the world's first smartphone with a thermal imager! It uses the FLIR thermal camera, which, of course, will only be useful to a narrow circle of people for whom this device is intended. Moreover, the strength and security are enough to easily withstand drops from a height of 1.8 m and submerge under water to a depth of 5 m.To all this, add a metal frame and a textured back panel, the screen is protected by glass Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Thermal chamber determines the temperature of objects at a distance of up to 30 meters. It will be useful for several categories of users: rescuers, firefighters, builders, as well as those who deal with thermal insulation of buildings and repair equipment to identify places of heat leaks.

As for the rest of the parameters, the smartphone received excellent filling, a good screen (pixel density over 300 ppi) and decent cameras, but the battery could have been more powerful.

HOMTOM HT20

  • protection IP 68;
  • 4-core 1.3 GHz processor;
  • rAM 2 GB, main memory 16 GB;
  • screen 4.7 inches, resolution 1280 * 720;
  • battery 3500 mAh;
  • cameras 13 and 5 Mp;
  • weight 190 g;
  • the price is about $ 120.

This inexpensive rugged smartphone, newin the modern market, has reduced the distance between conventional and unkillable smartphones. The gadget turned out to be not as bulky and heavy as some competitors, but at the same time it is quite durable. The manufacturer provided the gadget with a monolithic body, steel frames, soft plastic and anti-dust filters. To all this, it is worth adding the presence of a protective glass. Experiments prove that the smartphone is resistant to dust and moisture, without losing a single drop of integrity and functionality.

Among other advantages, it is worth noting the presence fingerprint scanner, a decent battery for less demanding hardware, and an excellent screen, all at a very attractive price. By the way, you can buy this secure smartphone directly in Chinese online stores, and then its cost will be even more attractive.

teXet X-driver Quad TM-4082R

  • protection IP 68;
  • 4-core 1.3 GHz processor;
  • rAM 1 GB, main 8 GB;
  • screen 4 inches, resolution 800 * 480;
  • battery 3100 mAh;
  • cameras 8 and 1.3 Mp;
  • weight 261 g;
  • the price is about $ 140.

Inexpensive device from domestic manufacturer... Suitable for those users who need a reliably protected device that will be used for calls, orientation on the ground and simple applications, because you should not expect much from this phone. But the owner of this device gets a device perfectly protected from moisture and dust with good autonomy, durable glass, and even a carbine with a compass in addition. An excellent option for your money.

With a waterproof smartphone, we can safely go to the beach or the pool, it is not afraid of rain and accidental falls in ... you know where. Most modern smartphones, resistant to moisture, no longer resemble an element of military ammunition. They are no less graceful than their "gentle" brothers and sisters. Sales of waterproof smartphones have grown in 2013, I think that this trend will continue in 2014.

Sony has begun to actively add moisture protection to its models. Sony Xperia Z1 is one of the most attractive waterproof models released in 2013. But even in the first half of this year, it remains relevant, thanks to the excellent filling and excellent screen.

Traditionally, this sector does not bypass Samsung; its Galaxy S4 Active is a very good option. In addition, the budget Android model Motorola Moto G is also classified as waterproof.

Let's take a closer look at the waterproof smartphones that are relevant for 2014.

Sony Xperia Z1

This smartphone can boast not only moisture resistance, but also excellent iron. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz processor. The diagonal of the screen is 5 inches.

The main camera has a resolution of 20.7 megapixels and records video in Full HD resolution without any problems. The front camera has a 2MP resolution, which is also quite good. Operating system version: Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The memory size can be expanded up to 64 GB using a memory card.

According to the manufacturer, the Sony Xperia Z1 remains functional in the shower and with a short immersion in water.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active

Quad-core 1.9GHz processor and GB of RAM make this smartphone a real mini-computer. And its 5-inch 1080p screen can display a lot of information at the same time. 16GB of internal storage can be expanded with a microSD card. The cameras of this waterproof smartphone have a resolution of 8 and 2 megapixels. The 2600 mAh battery provides a sufficiently long battery life.

Sony Xperia Z

This unit is distinguished by a 13 megapixel camera and a large screen (5 inches). The Sony Xperia Z is powered by a 1.5GHz Krait processor with an Adreno 320 as a video accelerator.

The memory for storing user data and installing applications is 16 GB, it can be expanded up to 32 GB with a slot for a micro-SD memory card.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Another model from Sony, it features a very thin body and a huge 6.4-inch screen. Here we see a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. The main 8MP camera with autofocus can record movies in Full HD quality. The front camera has a 2MP resolution. Battery capacity 3050 mAh.

Sony Xperia ZR

Compared to the previous waterproof smartphone model, this model has slightly more modest characteristics. The diagonal of its screen is 4.6 inches, two cameras have an expansion of 0.3 and 13 megapixels, and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor operates at a frequency of 1.5 GHz. The memory can be expanded up to 32 GB.

Sony Xperia ZL

Sony Xperia Go

Another representative of waterproof smartphones from Sony. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor and can be expanded up to 32GB. An out-of-the-box version of Android 2.3 is installed on this model. The diagonal of the screen is 3.5 inches, and the camera has a 5 megapixel matrix.

Htc butterfly

In addition to being waterproof, this smartphone features a 5-inch Super LCD 3 display and two cameras of 8 and 2.1 megapixels. The storage capacity is expandable up to 32GB and the heart of the system is the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (1.5GHz).

Here we find the operating system Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Sony Xperia Acro S

Waterproof and dustproof smartphone with 4.3-inch screen (720p), dual-core processor (1.5 GHz) and 1 GB RAM. The Xperia Acro S camera with a 12MP matrix can shoot 1080p video. The internal memory is 11 GB and the battery capacity is 1910 mAh.

When dealing with a niche product, you can usually be confident in the manufacturer. Simply because a niche is a very limited segment of the market, where highly specialized products are produced, designed for consumers who usually have a good idea of \u200b\u200bwhat they want and why. In smartphones and mobile phones, waterproof and shockproof models can definitely be attributed to this niche. And in this field more than others at the time of mid-2014 the Russian company Senseit was able to succeed.

However, other mass products have already started to squeeze it slightly. Suffice it to recall that in 2013 the Sony Xperia Z appeared - a waterproof flagship smartphone. It was followed by a dozen solutions equipped with water protection. And in early 2014, a protection standard, after which a cheaper one appeared. The main feature of these products lies in the fact that they are all designed for the mass consumer. Dust and moisture protection for them is not placed in the center - this is nothing more than an additional feature.

In the case of Senseit, the situation is exactly the opposite. She creates devices in which protection against water and even against shocks is put in the first place. And the hardware and software components are secondary. So comparing the same Galaxy S5 or Xperia Z2 / Z3 with any of the Senseit phones is simply wrong - the latter are made for people with an active lifestyle. They are protected according to the IP68 standard, which guarantees the possibility of their long immersion to a depth of more than a meter, where the device will remain operational. And from the look of such a device, it is obvious that it is not scary to drop or drown it. In general, it does not look like a "squishy".

It is precisely about such a specialized secure smartphone for 2 SIM-cards that we will tell you about. This is the new Senseit R390, a newly released rugged mobile phone with state-of-the-art features. But let's figure out for whom such a product is best suited.

Design

The exterior of the Senseit R390 is so powerful and brutal. The word "brick" spins around on the tongue, especially when dealing with the orange version of the paint. And there is also green. However, there is a minimum of orange (and green) - in the black case there are small grooves with lighter plastic.

If you look from a different point of view, you can clearly see a kind of millitar-style. One gets the impression that the fragile filling is hidden in powerful armor. On the side faces, it has embossed grips, although the surface of the case is already not slippery, rubberized - the smartphone will not slip out of the hand.

There are a lot of elements on the back cover. First of all, the eye catches a plate with the Senseit logo in the center of the phone, as if fixed with rivets. A pair of metal screws holding the cover look impressive. On the lid itself there are several "pimpled" blocks, between which some designations are made - the characteristics of R390. Three of them speak of all-weather resistance, and one reminds that we are dealing with an Android smartphone.

14 (!) Screws with a head for a small hexagon give additional solidity to the tube. This is not a dummy at all - the two parts of the body are really held together by them! However, on the front side of the six of the same "hats", but already under a Phillips screwdriver, is an ordinary dummy. But in any case, this did not affect the build quality. The Senseit R390 feels like a monolith. From the very sight of it, it is immediately clear that there will be no backlash or squeak. And when the device falls into the hand, this is only once again convinced.

But in general the R390 is not in the best way in the hand. Affects the very large thickness of 18.9 mm - the palm is specifically bursting. To hold it securely, you have to grab the tube with all your fingers - it is extremely easy to drop it, especially for a girl. Moreover, the weight of 210 grams contributes to this in every possible way.

However, we are dealing not only with a dust and moisture resistant smartphone, protected according to the IP68 standard, but also with a shockproof case. Of course, if you specifically throw it and put it under the wheels of a car, then the device will soon order to live a long time. But it is perfectly protected from accidental, even strong, fall. As you can imagine, this is largely due to the high-quality plastic case. Yes, there is no metal or glass - in this case, plastic is more plastic and less damaged.

Connectors and controls

Senseit R390 lacks any special and unusual controls. But the standard ones are made in a somewhat unusual way.

On top of the front side there is a speaker and front camera lens.

At the bottom there are three touch buttons to control the smartphone: Home, Menu and Back.

These buttons are visible even without backlighting, but the latter is also available.

The volume control buttons were placed on the left side.

On the right, there is a power button and a button for taking photos in the camera application. It is worth noting that all four buttons are additionally protected by a rubber nozzle, but because of it they are pressed very tightly.

Above is a 3.5 mm mini-jack for headphones or headsets, as well as an eyelet for a strap.

The microUSB connector is placed below.

It should be noted that all connectors are covered with very tight plugs, and besides, they are strongly recessed into the case. The connectors themselves are not changed, but problems may arise with their use - ordinary USB cables and headphones simply cannot reach the contacts inside the ports.

There is only one way out of the situation - to use complete accessories. The microUSB cable from the R390 package has a noticeably elongated connector, and a whole adapter on a short wire is offered for the audio connector.

There are speaker slots on the back cover next to the opening screws. Quite loud by the way.

The upper part of the rear panel houses the rear camera lens, as well as an LED flash.

To remove the cover, you will need to use the special screwdriver included in the kit, or an ordinary coin. The cover itself is additionally rubberized along the edge to protect the battery and microcircuits from moisture.

Slots for SIM cards (full size!) And microSD cards exit inside the case. To access them, you will have to remove the battery. But if you have any problems with this, or you have not figured out how to open the lid of the Senseit R390, we suggest watching our short video on this topic:

In principle, from the point of view of ergonomics, the Senseit R390 did not cause any complaints. On the contrary, in our opinion, all connectors and buttons are optimally located on the side ends of the case. And all the difficulties with their use are caused only by the waterproof and shock resistance of the tube. If you need maximum convenience, then the last two qualities will have to be abandoned.

Contents of delivery

The Senseit R390 comes in a small gray and white box made of good cardboard with a photo of the smartphone and some of its characteristics and qualities.

The usual scope of delivery is slightly expanded. From the standard one, there is a charger, a user manual, a headset and a USB cable. This is all complemented by a small rubberized screwdriver that can be hung on a string. There is also an adapter for an audio jack with a long connector. Recall that the USB cable is equipped with the same long connector. A case for the Senseit R390 probably won't be needed. And really - why protect a rugged smartphone? In addition, the already thick tube will become even thicker.

Well, to get a more complete picture of the Senseit R390, we suggest watching its video review:

Screen

I wonder if a secure smartphone needs a good screen? Or not - should the manufacturer pay maximum attention to the display of a waterproof mobile phone, installing a high-quality matrix with a high resolution? Probably not, because then the price will rise even higher. She's not low anyway because of the additional "armor". And there is also such a moment as the screen diagonal. Above we have described the bulky dimensions of the Senseit R390. And that's all with a 4-inch display! Even the average 5-inch smartphone is more comfortable in the hand. Can you imagine how monstrous a 5-inch shockproof phone will be?

It should be noted that the R390 is not the cheapest screen available. The display has relatively good viewing angles, although it still falls short of a high-quality IPS matrix. In the sun, the screen fades, and seriously. You have to look for a suitable angle so that you can see the picture and text. The display's resolution is more than standard for a 4 "diagonal, namely 800x480, which gives not the highest pixel density of 233 ppi. But again, for a protected smartphone this is the norm and even the level" above average ".

But what really surprised me was the maximum brightness of 573 cd / m2! Usually we manage to measure the brightness of phones at the level of 300-350 cd / m2, while in the R390 it is noticeably higher. However, the product from Senseit did not reach the ideal variant - the black brightness at the screen turned out to be proportionally high at the level of 1.19 cd / m2. This is about 3 times higher than most other smartphones. So black at maximum brightness looks like gray. All in all, we got not the most outstanding contrast ratio of 482: 1.

The color gamut of the R390 screen almost completely covers the sRGB space, which in principle guarantees a decent level of color rendering. Although it turned out to be decently distorted by the disturbed white balance.

The color temperature of R390 hardly drops below 10000K, and for white it is generally 11000K. In total, the white balance of the screen is seriously turned up in blue - the picture is displayed unnaturally cold.

The gamma curves weren't perfect either. So the bright areas of the image are displayed according to the standard, but the dark ones are not displayed as brightly as necessary.

The screen only supports two touches. But at the same time, he knows how to automatically adjust the brightness.

In total, the Senseit R390 screen can be estimated at below average. The budget option was used to reduce the cost, which is quite justified. Moreover, the manufacturer did not begin to save every penny, choosing from the cheapest displays. The R390's screen isn't the best, but it's not bad either - it's just that technologies have gone ahead in recent years, and protected devices are lagging a little behind.

Camera

The presence of a camera in a protected smartphone is quite justified - sometimes you have to shoot something in extreme weather conditions. However, the weather can be good, and a person will be, for example, in a boat - dropping the Senseit R390 into the water is not scary. The main thing is to get it out of there later. Nevertheless, the camera in this smartphone is quite average.

The camera application interface is standard from Android 4.2.

Shooting resolution - 5 MP. Tell me, a little? Where are you more? And the point here is not in megapixels, but in what kind of photo sensor is installed in the smartphone. Let's see how he shoots.

And he removes very mediocre. The footage is blurry, with a noticeable violation of the white balance. In poor lighting conditions, noise appears.

The video is captured at a resolution of 1280x720. It could have been lower. But, more importantly, the quality of the shooting is also not the highest. The problems here are exactly the same as with the photo: there is not enough sharpness, the white balance is disturbed

The front camera has a resolution of 0.3 MP. Quite modestly by the now fashionable "selfie standards". But the Senseit R390 is not a selfie phone, is it?

From the front camera, the photo comes out even worse. There is absolutely no white balance, and there is no trace of sharpness. Everything looks like the frames were painted with watercolors. The effect is cool, but it is better when it is applied at the request of the owner of the smartphone, and not "by default" without the ability to "disable".

There are no surprises with the video either. VGA resolution, quality is low.

In general, we can state that the camera of the Senseit R390 is more for show. The shooting quality is low, there are no additional settings. Nothing strange - the manufacturer just paid maximum attention to the protected case of the smartphone, and not the camera and other components of the phone.

The Senseit range of smartphones at the beginning of autumn 2014 consists of four models. R390 is the newest and most advanced. The R413 is a simpler option, with an old version of Android 4.0, a weak 1450 mAh battery and a 4.1-inch screen, and an IP67 rating. This phone costs only a thousand rubles less than the R390, so there is no point in buying it. R280 - costs almost half the R390, but this device is even simpler: IP67, 3.5-inch screen, 1250 mAh battery, Android 4.0. And then there is the Senseit P4, which is even more expensive than the model in question, but is equipped with a weak single-core Qualcomm processor, clocked at only 800 MHz, has a 3.5-inch screen and runs on Android 2.3. What's the catch? In the American military standard of protection MIL-STD 810. Its support guarantees even better protection compared to IP68. With this and the war is not scary. And for peacetime, the R390 will do. Let's take a look at its characteristics.

Senseit R390 has the same hardware as (not Rev.S). Of course, the coincidence between them is not complete, but the processors are identical there, which guarantees the same level of performance.

In general, today the MediaTek MT6572 chip is a solution for budget smartphones. It includes a pair of Cortex-A7 cores running at 1.3 GHz, although the Senseit website for some reason lists the frequency as 1.2 GHz. The processor is supplemented with a Mali-400MP1 video card, which is also not the most productive solution by modern standards. But the R390 is obviously not bought for games, right?

Only 512 MB of RAM is installed. In our opinion, it was not worth saving on this - after all, the responsiveness of applications suffers. 1 GB today is already the norm even for budget smartphones, albeit not the cheapest available. For example, the Highscreen Zera F has exactly that much RAM. However, it has another very serious drawback.

Recall that we scolded Zera F for the inability to use the built-in memory. There is 4 GB of it, but it is simply not available to the user. It's difficult to work with a smartphone without a memory card. But in the case of the Senseit R390, this problem is not, although there is also 4 GB of internal flash memory. The manufacturer did not give everything for system needs, and therefore the owner of the protected tube will receive 1.2 GB for his own data, including photos from video.

Another clear advantage of the Senseit R390 is a capacious 2400 mAh battery. With a diagonal of 4 ", this can be considered a battery of increased capacity. However, let's see how effective the smartphone will be in our testing of autonomy. Actually, we are just moving on to the test results.

Performance testing

Of course, in performance testing, the results of the Senseit R390 will be compared with the Highscreen Zera F of the first revision. Although, looking ahead, we note that both devices are almost the same in speed.

The slight advantage in Smartbench 2012 on the R390 side can be attributed even to the measurement error. In terms of work comfort, there is not much difference.

The situation is similar in Antutu. The performance is de facto the same. The R390 has a slightly faster flash drive and RAM, and not the processor itself.

And here is the test, which depends little on RAM, flash memory and video card. Linpack "drives" one "math". And here there is full parity.

The SunSpider browser test repeats the Linpack result - both smartphones are the same.

With the graphics, it turned out somewhat ambiguous. So in electopia we see full parity, but in Nenamark2 and RD 3D the R390 is clearly lagging behind. Perhaps, here you can already write off the loss for a small amount of RAM. 3D games (and tests) are very serious applications that heavily load the entire system. Although the Senseit smartphone performed well in games on the whole, but more on that below, but for now let's see what's with the autonomy.

In principle, we did not receive any surprises here. As expected, the Senseit R390 has better autonomy than the Zera F - the 2400 mAh battery did the trick, leaving 71% of the charge behind the smartphone after passing our test. But there is such a piquant moment as energy optimization. Obviously, it was not done - good (but not a record!) Autonomy was achieved only due to a relatively weak processor, not the largest screen and a capacious battery.

Senseit R390 Games

The main problem with the Senseit R390 when it comes to gaming is not a lack of processor speed. The smartphone has very little memory for large games - 1.2 GB is enough for many, but there are various GTA, N.O.V.A. 3 and the like, which will no longer fit. And we failed to make them install on the flash card. The following games we tested refused to work due to lack of space: Asphalt 8, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, N.O.V.A. 3. But we cannot check 100%, so there will be others - you should be ready for this.

  • Riptide GP2: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • Asphalt 8:

  • Dead Trigger: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Trigger 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Real Racing 3: noticeable slowdowns;
  • Need For Speed: Most Wanted: not installed due to lack of space;

  • Shadowgun: Dead Zone: some delays are visible;

  • Frontline Commando: Normandy: noticeable twitching;

  • Frontline Commando 2: noticeable twitching;

  • Eternity Warriors 2: some delays are visible;

  • Eternity Warriors 3: noticeable twitching;

  • Trial Xtreme 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Effect: some delays are visible;

  • Plants vs Zombies 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Iron Man 3: excellent, the game does not slow down.

With more games on the Senseit R390 work. Of course, if there is enough space for them on the built-in storage. True, they often reduce the color depth to 16 bits, as well as detail and resolution. Even on a small 4-inch screen, it doesn't look very pretty. The following titles were noticed for this: Riptide GP2, Dead Trigger 1 and 2, Frontline Commander: Normandy.

But again, let us repeat that the R390 is clearly not a smartphone for games. If the need for a good camera and screen can be somehow "pulled", then games are clearly a secondary function for a secure phone.

BY

Senseit didn’t get too smart with the software. The R390 runs pure Android 4.2 without any skins and with only one (!) Additional Mobitracker app. Moreover, its presence only complements the orientation of the smartphone for use in difficult conditions, and does not clutter up memory, duplicating existing programs.

A clean desktop from the original Android - what could be better?

Applications, as we said, are only from the standard set of the system, except for one.

But what is missing is a widget with a flashlight - so that you can turn it on from the desktop without calling any applications.

Mobitracker is an application that allows you to determine the location of your smartphone using GPS. It works only if there is an Internet connection - the coordinates of the handset are transmitted through it. A large SOS button in the interface is needed to notify about some kind of threat or something. By clicking on it, the one who follows you through the service website will receive a corresponding signal.

Application settings are pretty simple. You can specify the frequency of transmission of coordinates, and at the same time password-protected access to the settings.

On the Mobitracker website, after registration, you can track the phone. The service can store its movements for a certain period. However, this is already for money.

Mobitracker's tariffs are not very high, but everyone hardly needs a service. However, there is also a free option that you can use for an unlimited time.

The rest of the applications on Senseit R390 are the most standard and there is no need to describe them. It is much more important to note that, in general, the smartphone works smoothly, the interface switches smoothly.

Output

The Senseit R390 is a typical budget smartphone, but packaged in a dustproof and waterproof case. The case itself is very strong, well-cut, and at the same time provides the handset with a "militarized" brutal appearance and protection according to the IP68 standard.

As for the filling, it is at the level of ordinary smartphones, which cost about half the price. You have to pay extra for a reinforced case, which, in addition to the price, adds weight to an impressive 210 grams and provides a very massive size. And as a thickness of almost 19 mm, some will dream in nightmares. Do not forget about the tight plugs on the connectors that require adapters or wires with special connectors. But again - this is all we describe the typical properties of all protected phones. Compared to competing models, they are unlikely to offer much better parameters.

Total that turns out. Senseit R390 as a smartphone is at the entry level. Many applications will work on it, but serious work will not work. This will be hampered by a small screen, weak processor, small amount of RAM and built-in memory. On the other hand, hardly anyone will buy a rugged smartphone for active work in Android. And so, the main advantage of the R390 is the combination of its characteristics, performance quality and price.

Senseit R390 Price

You can buy Senseit R390 for 8 thousand rubles. For a device with such protection parameters, it is inexpensive. But still, let's take a look at the competitive offerings.

Texet X-driver TM-4104R not so long ago could be bought for 9 thousand, but now the price has dropped to 8 thousand. I wonder why (the author smiles ironically)? The smartphone has a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 800x480, an old Android 4.0, a weaker dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 processor, clocked at 1 GHz. True, there is more RAM - 768 MB. And the camera has more megapixels - as much as 8! The battery is also not weak - 2500 mAh. All of this is hidden in an IP68-rated case that is 18mm thick and weighs 265 grams! With weight, of course, here is a complete finish - about the same as the weight of two.

You can buy Ginzzu RS61D ULTIMATE for 11-12 thousand. The price is higher, but the resolution of the 4-inch screen is 480x854. However, this is a trifle. But the 4-core 1.2 GHz processor is slightly faster. Let's add a 2600 mAh battery, an 8 MP camera and a weight of 183 grams. But the thickness is 23 mm - can you hold it with one hand? The rest of the parameters are the same as in Senseit R390: Android 4.2, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory.

Caterpillar Cat B15 costs the most - around 14 thousand. In places the smartphone is really interesting. For example, it weighs 170 grams and is no more than 15 mm thick. It also has a nice original design. Otherwise, if appearance is not critical for you and you are not fighting for every millimeter or gram, then the Cat B15 looks at least no better than the Senseit R390. He also has 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory. Android 4.1 is older, the battery is more modest - 2000 mAh, the dual-core processor operates at a frequency of 1 GHz. And the protection standard is only IP67.

Pros:

  • excellent dust and moisture protection according to the IP68 standard;
  • high-quality assembly;
  • militaristic design;
  • pure Android 4.2 with preinstalled Mobitracker service;
  • affordable price for its characteristics;
  • good autonomy and a capacious 2400 mAh battery;
  • separate button for taking photos;
  • use without memory card possible.

Minuses:

  • low-quality cameras;
  • large size and weight;
  • only 512 MB of RAM;
  • the need to use adapters and special wires for using connectors;
  • the cover can only be opened with a screwdriver or a coin.
