Scan documents to PDF. Free PDF converter - how to convert doc to pdf Program for scanning to multi-page pdf

Hi all! Scanning documents to PDF can sometimes become quite a challenging task. Therefore, to speed up the process, many users install complex utilities that automatically convert page content into an intelligent file with the ability to search and select individual text. The main disadvantages include the fact that the utility opens each document in a separate window.

RiDoc is a small compact program for scanning documents to PDF that have been converted from paper. A special feature of this software is the ability to convert files with a reduction in size. The range of tools includes functions such as brightness/contrast adjustment, watermarking and image reduction/enlargement. Scan to PDF

ScanTool is a good scanning program that is designed to work with devices from different manufacturers. The application is compatible with almost all popular scanners. In addition to the main functions, the complex is capable of converting standard images to PDF. You can first edit the files in the graphics plugin, which is built into the basic package of options. Each version of the program is designed to perform several targeted tasks. First of all, the applications are capable of processing a real document with the ability to convert it to PDF. Before installing applications, it is important to familiarize yourself in detail with the general features and functionality.

As you can see, the choice of applications is simply huge, but in fact they are all good. Some are simpler and cheaper (or free), some are more expensive, but with more advanced functions. The main thing is that they all cope with scanning documents to PDF and more. And besides, they easily support Windows 10.

Well, that's all I have for today. Don't forget to subscribe to my blog updates, as well as all social networks. I'm waiting for you again. Bye bye!

Sometimes scanner users have a question about how to edit a scanned document and convert its format to PDF. One of the easiest ways to solve this problem is to scan the image and immediately save it in pdf format. To do this, you should use Acrobat DC software, which you can download on the developer’s official website or on any reliable web resource. The fact is that this software in Windows and Mac OS operating systems supports drivers for some scanners.

To save a file as a PDF immediately after scanning it, you need to use a feature called “Auto-detect color model.” This allows the software to automatically detect the content type of your document. In addition, this software offers several other presets.
To select the parameters at your discretion, you should use the so-called option. "custom scanning". But keep in mind that such a preset of the scanning process is available only for those scanner drivers that are capable of supporting the interface hiding mode. Mac OS does not provide such a feature at all. And now more about how to scan a document into pdf format using Acrobat:

  • Launch the program and in its main window go to the “Tools” menu.
  • Click on the item that implies creating a PDF file, after which a new window will open.
  • From the left list, select the item called “Scanner”, then select a specific device type and decide on the scanning mode, for example, “Auto color detection”.
  • To display all settings, click on the gear icon on the right.
  • After setting all the necessary parameters and saving the changes, click on “Scan”. At the end you will need to save the result of this process.

It should be added that if the result does not satisfy you very much, then you can easily improve or optimize it. To do this, you need to open the newly created PDF file from the scanned text/photo and select the item in the “Tools” menu that implies increasing the quality of the scan. There you just have to go to “Enhance quality” => “Scanned document” and click on the settings icon. Enter the required values and save your changes.

Converting a scanned document to PDF format

If you initially saved the scanned document in a format other than PDF, for example, JPEG or TIFF, but at the same time you needed to convert it, then one of the simplest and most affordable options is to use special online services. In addition, almost all of them operate absolutely free.

But choosing the best option for such a service is very difficult, because... there are really a lot of them. In general, this web resource can be an excellent choice: smallpdf.com. You just need to click on the “Select file” button, then mark the desired document or send it to the service by simply dragging and dropping. If necessary, you can immediately upload a large number of scanned documents - for this purpose, next to the already uploaded file there is a button in the form of a plus sign.

After completing all the steps for uploading scans, click on “Create PDF right now!!!”. After this, you will be redirected to a new page where you have to save the file by clicking on the yellow button of the same name. It is worth adding that this online service also provides the ability to merge, separate and even compress PDF documents.

Using special programs

You can also solve the problem of how to convert a scanned document into pdf using special programs and utilities. A great option is CutePDF, which is a kind of digital printer that can convert selected text/image into a PDF file by pressing a print button. This utility is a real lifesaver if your scanner can only save scans in JPG format.

  • In order for this digital printer to be able to convert files, you should download a special add-on for it - “Ghostscript”. It is usually available for download on the same page as the CutePDF program itself.
  • After installing and starting the digital printer, you need to install it as a system device, following all the tips and recommendations.
  • Open any scanned image or text to be converted to PDF format. For this purpose, use any program that can support sending a document for printing.
  • Find the “Print” item by first opening the “File” tab, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+P.
  • Select the CutePDF virtual device from the list of available printers using the drop-down menu.
  • Give the print command, then select the folder where you plan to save the scanned file after converting it. After clicking the save button, your PDF document will be ready.

Recently, scanners have begun to appear more and more often that not only do not have their own software for scanning (they install only the driver, and to work you need to use standard Windows software), but also a physical “Scan” button on the body. This can make working with the scanner very difficult if you need to scan several documents at once.

If you need to scan, for example, a contract or some other document consisting of several pages, then scanning turns into a living hell. Not only do you have to start scanning every time through “Start” - “Devices and Printers,” but you also have to set the same settings for each individual page, which is especially inconvenient. But everything would be so terrible if it weren’t for the free Scan2PDF application, which does two useful things at once.

In addition to a convenient way to scan in one click and without unnecessary requests, Scan2PDF can save all received images into one PDF document. In essence, you will get one file-book with the required document or several documents, which are much easier to send by email or post on the website.

When saving a scanned image in JPG, the result is a very impressive file size, which can be problematic or simply inconvenient to transfer without compression and processing. And if there are many such files, then the task becomes even more complicated. When creating a PDF, everything is much simpler, since a single document is formed that contains all the materials and does not take up very much space. It can be quickly transmitted over the network.

For example, I recently scanned two documents, each one page long. I got two files in JPG format, each of which takes up 2.5MB. Yes, you could change the settings or process the files in the editor and get about 150Kb per file. But it is difficult and often inconvenient. In the case when I scanned using Scan2PDF, I received one PDF with a total size of only 340Kb.

In general, the Scan2PDF program is a very useful thing. Especially for those users who have to scan several pages of documents from time to time. Among the obvious shortcomings, I would note the absence of the Russian language in the interface during installation, although the Russian language itself is supported. It can be easily activated: go to settings (Options) and select Russia in the Language block.

Another drawback of the utility is the inability to work with several PDF documents at once. You can scan and save only one document. If you need to save scanned copies into several files, then the papers must be divided into stacks and scanned in parts, saving each one sequentially.
