Alt + 0769 - Helps you place an accent mark over the previous letter.
That's probably all on this.

Many have seen unusual and beautiful symbols adorning a name, message or social media page, but few know where they come from.

In the Windows operating system, characters that are not on the keyboard are encrypted as numbers. Pressing a number in combination with the Alt key produces a special character that will change depending on the number.

Inserting hidden symbols

Many people ask themselves the question: "How to enter characters that are not on the keyboard?" This can be done in various ways:

  • using a symbol table;
  • combinations of Alt with numbers;
  • copying from the Internet;
  • copying from text editing software (Microsoft Office);
  • special online services.

symbol table

Above is a table of characters that are not on the keyboard. With its help, you can easily paste the character you like into the text, copy it to social networks.

How to open a symbol table

It is very easy to open the symbol table. First of all, you need to click "Start" and enter the phrase "Character table" in the computer search window.

Next step: click on the found phrase.

The symbol table can be easily found by knowing its location on the system. The path is as follows:

  1. "Start".
  2. All programs.
  3. Standard.
  4. Service.
  5. Symbol table.

In order not to constantly perform many operations and mouse clicks, you can pin the link to the table on the "Taskbar" or in the "Start" menu. This is done as follows: the cursor is hovered over the icon of the open program on the lower taskbar, the right mouse button is pressed to open additional functions, then the left mouse button should be pressed on the penultimate line (pin the program).

Using the symbol table

In the table, you can change the font, view the help, and also copy any of the provided symbols to the clipboard. To copy them, you need to double-click on the one you like, click on the "Copy" button. To insert into the text, you need to place the cursor in the part of the text where you want to place the element, click on the "Insert" menu called by the right mouse button. Or do the same with Ctrl and V.

Additional Options for Symbol Table

The functionality of the program in question contains additional parameters, to enable which you must put a checkmark. The checkbox is located below the "To copy" line. The main advantage of additional parameters is the presence of "Grouping". It allows you to very quickly search for the necessary element to insert into the text by categories (monetary, punctuation, arrows, numeric, technical). For the grouping to work correctly, there must be Unicode ranges.

For example, take the infinity sign. To find it, you need to go to the grouping and select the desired category (for the infinity sign, these are mathematical operators). Double-click on it and copy to the clipboard.

Alt and number shortcuts

In order for the symbol you need to appear on the screen, you need to click on the indicated number while holding Alt. In order not to lose such a useful table, it is recommended to add it to your browser bookmarks or save it to your computer. For example, the keyboard shortcut Alt and 1 results in a smiley character.

Copy from the web

A very popular way to get the necessary characters that are not on the keyboard is to copy them from the web. This method is very simple and understandable for everyone, it consists of 2 steps:

  • finding the desired character or smiley by creating a query in the browser's search bar;
  • copy and paste to the desired location (text, message, status).

Symbols from Microsoft Office Word

You can find original characters that are not on the keyboard in the very popular Microsoft Office Word software. This method is similar to the one described earlier. Its essence lies in the fact that first we open the Word program (it is installed on almost every computer), look for the "Insert" tab, in the menu we find the "Insert Symbol" button. After that, a window appears with a huge number of different symbols. In order to take a symbol you like from the "Word" and paste it into another place, you need to paste the required symbol on a blank sheet of the "Word", then select it and copy it (copying can be done by pressing Ctrl and C).

Online services

To diversify your page on "VKontakte", tweets and posts on "Facebook", just to please the chat interlocutor will help online services that provide the ability to quickly and conveniently select and copy the symbol, smile or sign you like.

Everything here is very simple and straightforward. Each button is a specific symbol. After clicking on any of them, the selected symbol appears in the window above. Below the window there are buttons with which you can change the characters (font, size) or perform some action (copy, "tweet", etc.). When you click Copy, the character (s) in the selection window are copied to the computer's clipboard. Only then from the buffer does the user insert them into the message.

Categories of hidden symbols

All existing characters that are not on the keyboard can be divided into the following categories:

  • numbers;
  • fractions;
  • zodiac signs;
  • musical notes;
  • symbols that represent weather or precipitation;
  • card;
  • chess;
  • snowflakes;
  • flowers;
  • emotions;
  • arrows;
  • others.

Hello!

Have you ever wondered how much time you sometimes have to spend on ordinary operations: select something with the mouse, copy, then paste into another window (file). Imagine if you work with dozens of files a day? Those who use some keyboard shortcuts in Windows significantly speed up their work!

Believe me - but pressing a couple of buttons on the keyboard is much faster than performing the same action with the mouse. (for example, select and copy everything - on the keyboard for 1-2 seconds (Ctrl + A, Ctrl + C), with the mouse you can crawl through the file for 30 seconds ...) !

In this article, I will provide the most useful and useful keyboard shortcuts for a variety of tasks.

Note : It is recommended to start small - first, remember 3-4 combinations for the most repetitive tasks: copying, pasting, selecting, etc. Then gradually expand the range, and you can increase the speed of your work by an order of magnitude.

Buttons and their combinations are relevant for all versions of Windows, and the software running in them (at least for Windows 7/8/10 - everything works, it has been checked many times).

By the way, using the Win + R button combinations, you can open various tabs and applications, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the list of all commands:

Table 1: for working with text (for moving through the text)

Table 2: for entering special characters

Not all characters (which sometimes I would like to type) are on the keyboard. For example, how do you type a heart, an arrow, or, say, a sign for the sum Σ? There are specials for this. tables and codes that can and should be used.

How to use the table below:

  1. find the symbol you want, select it and copy. Then place the cursor where you would like to add the symbol and paste it (note: Ctrl + C - copy the selected text, Ctrl + V - paste the copied text);
  2. another option - just use the alt-code, for example, opposite the heart is the code "Alt 3". This means that you need to hold down the Alt button, and then press the "3" button.

What is Alt Code? Alt-code is the characters that are displayed when you press the key combination on the keyboard Alt + X, where X is a set of numbers (a specific number) on the NumPad "e. NumPAd is a block of numbers on the keyboard, usually located on the right. Alto characters on a PC with operating systems Windows systems are not available using a regular keyboard. They can only be called using additional commands. Press the ALT button and type a number in the decimal system. I hope everything is clear. The Alt code table will help you navigate and find the desired character.

Good day, dear knowledge hunters!

How often, when traveling on the boundless sea of \u200b\u200bthe Internet or in any documents, have you come across various characters that are not on the keyboard? For example, these are: ☺, ©,,, ○, §, ¶, ♂, ♀ and so on ...

And maybe you would like to use such symbols too, but how do you do it? The first idea that can come to mind is to simply take and copy a symbol from, for example, a website's web page. But there is a better and faster way, which will be discussed later ...

All special characters are already present in Windows, there is no need to download anything else from anywhere. It remains only to learn how to extract them into the light of day☻. I will show two methods, one through the standard Windows program (standard), the second through key combinations (the fastest).

Using the standard Symbol Table

Keyboard gurus can press Win + R right away and type charmap... Or type charmap in Windows search (Win + S).

For the rest, the recipe is as follows: Start - All Programs - Standard - Symbol Table.

This is how it looks symbol table after launch. It allows you to insert many different characters that simply don't exist on the keyboard. Let's try to insert something somewhere.

Select the desired symbol. Let it be the copyright icon - ©. To select it - double-click on the symbol, or select it with a single click and press the button Choose just below. The symbol appears in the text box. Now press Copy and the symbol on the clipboard. Open Word, Notepad or anything else where you can write and paste the icon using Ctrl + V or the mouse.

You can play with fonts. For example, find Webdings or Wingdings fonts in the list. These fonts have been with Windows for a long time and contain various icons and icons.

But the problem with non-standard fonts is that they will not always and not always display correctly, so they should be used with caution.

Let's look at the following input method.

Special character codes on the keyboard

Characters that are not on the keyboard can be entered using the key Alt and a special code on the numeric keypad. If it is disabled, enable it with the key Num Lock.

For example, Alt + 0169 will give us a copyright ©.

The procedure for entering characters is as follows:

  1. Hold Alt;
  2. We dial the code, sequentially, digit by digit;
  3. As soon as the last digit is pressed and released - press Alt;
  4. Immediately after releasing Alt, the desired symbol will appear.

These are not all possible special characters, but more or less common and well-known. Moreover, some symbols are also present on the keyboard, so there is no special meaning to give them. For example, Alt + 64 is the code for the @ dog, which is on the keyboard, at number 2.

Do you use special characters when working at a computer?
