Specifications phone nokia 808 pureview

If you want, you can shoot full-size photographs from the matrix, but their quality and sharpness leave much to be desired, and, of course, they cannot compete even with high-resolution "soap boxes", and not only with DSLRs.

We'll talk more about the camera in the Test Shots section, but for now let's move on to the sad one.

From a vacuum cleaner to a bicycle, or Android drive to Symbian

I am well aware that not everyone uses their phones to their fullest, but I am (dare I hope) pretty average Android phone user. (* Note of the issuing editor: right now "someone is wrong on the Internet", but we will not tell him about it. :) *) I got used to writing down my thoughts and sketches of articles in Evernote (now, however, with the latter I moved to Google Drive), keep (and read) two Twitter accounts - my personal and our wonderful Twitter ferraru , after following which, you will be able to communicate with the editors. It is clear that there are two more social networks in which I and the site are present - this and Vkontakt (yes, yes, we also have a page there, don't be surprised).

I also listen to music, watch videos, celebrate workouts at Endomondo, "post" photos on Instagram (again, follow ferraru - there are interesting pictures from trips and exclusive reports from the editorial office and testlab); I use Google services: calendar, mail, Jabber, the latest news editor Google Media (). I also need maps (preferably both Google and Yandex), taxi call services (Get Taxi, Yandex.Taxi, InTaxi). Well, of course, I use browsers, as well as a list of contacts (they are synchronized with me, again, with Google). Let's try to see if I can provide all this, or at least close functionality on the Nokia 808.

The operating system as the main evil

Unfortunately, Symbian OS is not very user-friendly and beautiful. You can say a lot about what was fixed, but alas, this is not even Gingerbread.

It is difficult to surprise modern users of mobile technology with some new or unusual functions, but at Nokia they did. The company presented a mobile phone with a built-in camera capable of taking 41 megapixel images. It is clear that resolution is not the main characteristic in a camera, but the figure “41” itself is catchy and mesmerizing. I just want to try this outstanding contraption. We got a chance to test the engineering marvel - the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone.

I, like most people, do not take the built-in camera of the phone as a basis for taking photos. Suddenly something happened or you urgently need to capture some moment, and you shoot. At the same time, you don't expect it to be a mega-masterpiece. If you want quality shooting, take a camera with you.

Imagine my surprise when the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone announced a few months ago, journalists and market experts began to race to compare not only with camera phones, but also with ultra-compact cameras and even SLR cameras. Why would it suddenly?

This is largely due to the PureView technology, which provides special algorithms for shooting and image processing. Nokia has been working on new features for five years and has succeeded. With the release of the 808 PureView smartphone, the Finns decided to finally break the stereotype that phones cannot take high-quality pictures.

Looking ahead, I would like to note that the Nokia 808 camera may well replace an inexpensive camera. At the same time, the pictures in most cases can be comparable in quality, detail, color rendition and the amount of noise with classic cameras.

And the technical parameters of the Nokia 808 camera look quite good. Maximum resolution 38 Mpix, Carl Zeiss optics, enlarged sensor size (1 / 1.2 "), wide-angle lens, xenon flash, mechanical shutter, Full HD video with stereo sound based on two microphones, high speed image processing and processing, ND filter.

Dimensions. Contents of delivery

id = "sub0">

The presence of a high-quality camera could not but affect the appearance and dimensions of the device. Nokia 808 PureView is a very heavy phone (169 grams). Although if you compare it with cameras, then the weight does not seem so great. The dimensions of the device are 124x60.2x13.9 mm. Moreover, the maximum thickness of 17 mm is concentrated in the upper part of the body, where the camera lens is located. The rest is thinner. Thanks to the matte plastic of which the back is made, the smartphone does not tend to fall out of your hands.

In terms of ergonomics, the Nokia 808 is doing just fine. Only it is inconvenient to carry such a device in your pocket. It is better to buy some kind of separate cover, like for a camera, and go with it.

The basic delivery contains:

 • Nokia 808 PureView Phone
 • Battery Nokia BV-4D 1400 mAh
 • Nokia AC-50 Micro-USB Charger
 • Nokia Charging Data Cable CA-190CD
 • Nokia Stereo Headset WH-209

Design, construction

id = "sub1">

The appearance of the camera phone is quite simple. It is similar to the design of the inexpensive Nokia touchscreens from two years ago. The same rounded shapes, glossy front and dull back, regular plastic. You will not see any frills in the form of a monolithic polycarbonate case here. Perhaps the only feature of the Nokia 808's exterior is Gorilla Glass all over the front.

I must say that the materials of execution and assembly are very solid. Nothing creaks anywhere. There are also no gaps between the elements of the case. The matte back surface does not allow the smartphone to slip out of hands, no traces of use remain on it.

The Nokia 808 is available in two colors: black and white. Both look very decent.

Most of the front face of the smartphone is a 4-inch touchscreen. There are three mechanical control buttons under the screen: "Call", "Menu" and "End". It is worth noting that the display gets dirty very quickly: dust and fingerprints are visible on it.

What else is there in the Nokia 808? Above the screen you can see a speaker for voice calls. Nearby is a position sensor (G-sensor), digital compass, proximity sensor, light sensor. Above the display is a front-facing camera (VGA) with video calls.

The volume rocker is located on the right side edge, and below is the screen lock slider and the camera key. The camera button, by the way, can launch the shooting application even from a locked state, which is extremely convenient.

A connector for an interface and a microUSB charger, a 3.5 mm headphone output is located at the top. Here you can also find a mini-HDMI connector for connecting to a TV. It is covered with a plastic cap.

There are no controls on the left. And on the bottom there is a microphone.

On the back of the Noka 808 is the camera. This is the thickest part of the entire apparatus. There is also a xenon flash and a speaker for external calls. It has average performance in terms of volume headroom. In most cases, you can hear it well.

Below you can see the Nokia logo, and a rubberized strip that gives the smartphone stability on a smooth surface.

Under the battery cover is the battery and slots for microSD and microSIM cards. The back cover can be removed easily enough, just pry off its groove at the bottom. On the inside, you can see the NFC chip.

During the three-week test, I had no problems with assembly and quality. It should be noted that this model of mobile phones is assembled at the Nokia plant in China.

Graphics capabilities

id = "sub2">

Nokia 808 has a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen. It is made using capacitive technology, using ClearBlack technology (allows you to see a clear black color in bright sunlight). The display's sensitivity is high; a light touch is enough to fix it. There is support for multitouch technology. The display resolution is 360x640, it displays 16 million colors. Alas, because of the low resolution, the outlines of the pixels are visible on the screen.

Thanks to the G-sensor (accelerometer), the screen can automatically change its orientation. The display is protected by durable Gorilla Glass. As practice shows, it successfully prevents scratches during smartphone operation.

The screen has good color rendition, brightness, contrast and viewing angles. The backlight brightness is automatically adjusted. The display fades in the sun, but the information is legible.

Keyboard and information input

id = "sub3">

Entering information, as well as writing texts and dialing numbers is done using the touch screen. Thanks to the gentle vibration, any user gets a response when pressing the touch keys. You can turn off the screen reaction to pressing.

There are two schemes for typing texts in Nokia 808. First, the classic horizontal QWERTY keyboard. This type of keyboard is automatically activated in portrait mode (vertical). It is convenient to work with such a keyboard, let's not forget that we have a large screen.

The second scheme, a full-screen QWERTY keyboard, works only in landscape (horizontal) orientation. In this mode, the buttons are large and allow you to type text without problems. Working with such a keyboard is even more convenient. The only drawback that upset me was a very long chain of navigation through the menu in order to change the input language. There is simply no quick button for changing languages. Although the problem can be solved by installing a free program from the Nokia store, which will help you change the layout with one touch.

Menu. Interface and settings

id = "sub4">

Smartphone 808 PureView runs Symbian Belle Feature Pack 1 operating system, which according to Nokia itself has added many improvements over previous versions. I had a device for testing with firmware version 112.020.0309 dated 05/19/2012.

Visually, the OS remains Symbian as before. Although some of the interfaces are borrowed from Android.

The first thing that catches your eye is the tangible changes in the user interface. In particular, the list of widgets has expanded, icons on desktops can now be arranged in a chaotic manner, a status panel has appeared for accessing wireless services and auxiliary information.

In order to customize the widgets, you need to call the context menu by long pressing on any place of the desktop, or do it through the function menu.

The desktop is displayed in both horizontal and vertical orientations. In standby mode, the user sees the main desktop, which displays information about signal reception, battery charge. Next to them you can see the time, date. At the very bottom there are three touch-sensitive buttons: "Menu", "Phone" and "Functions".

In addition, there is a status menu, which can be activated by touching the top of the screen in any menu. The status menu is represented by four icons: "Data transmission", "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth", "Silent". This simplifies access to functions, but the ergonomics of working with the status menu is extremely poor.

The touch screen operation is simple. You click on the item you need and get into it. The field for entering information is pressing, and the keyboard appears immediately. In all menus, you can turn the phone over, then a large QWERTY keyboard will appear.

The user has the ability to rearrange all menu items with each other. To do this, you must press "Options" - "Arrange". Then you can start moving shortcuts.

Each user can customize the operation of the phone and individual applications, personalize the smartphone interface. This is done from the "Options" menu. This subsection includes all options related to working with a cellular network, wireless interfaces, including bluetooth and Wi-Fi, data synchronization. In addition, settings for profiles, display, time, menus and widgets, security, phone memory and other service information are also available here.

Telephone functions

id = "sub5">

To start dialing a number, press the "Call" button in the standby mode. At the same time, from here you can access your contacts and call log.

"Contacts" stores detailed information about numbers and subscribers. You yourself can choose one or another variant of data presentation. The list is displayed by names, to the left of them - the caller's photo and phone number, to view the details of a contact, you need to open it. Any graphic file, as well as your photos or videos, can be used as a name picture.

The records are sorted in order: first, all contacts are in Russian, then all names are in English. The phone memory stores about 2000 names with all the numbers and data filled in. Search for contacts is carried out character by character. That is, you first enter the first character, then the second of those that are available, and so on, until the search is reduced to a minimum. It seemed to me a very handy tool.

The "Messages" item contains all the options and options for working with SMS, MMS. There is a mode of displaying messages in the classic form, and in the form of a chat on the Apple iPhone. The settings for working with all types of messages are also concentrated here. A unique function is sending a message at a specified time. After writing a message, you can indicate at what time and on what day to send it to the addressee.

In addition to the standard lists, the "Conversations" item has appeared, where the correspondence is arranged in the form of a chat of two subscribers.

Email, internet and social services

id = "sub6">

E-mail is a built-in e-mail client with support for / IMAP4 / SMTP / APOP protocols]. It is a Nokia Mail email client with support for html, Nokia Messaging, Mail for Exchange, Nokia Messaging.

The New Mailbox Wizard allows you to quickly set up your mailbox for work. If you use a well-known service, for example, Gmail or Yahoo or some other familiar system, you must specify your password, email address - and that's it. From now on it will be possible to work with the box. In addition, there is the possibility of configuring inside corporate mail, including via a VPN connection.

If we evaluate the work of the built-in browser, then it is moderately functional, but too thoughtful. Something constantly freezes! The browser has full support for WAP resources and other functions. You can call a panel with frequently used functions: a list of links to visited resources, map display, page reload and search. Of the innovations - there are new virtual icons in the lower left and right corners. Flash is supported, there is integration with RSS, but there is no possibility of working with text. I personally like the mobile version of Opera many times more.

Access to social services can be configured from the Social Networks application, which allows you to manage accounts on the most popular social resources: Facebook, VKontakte and Twitter. The interface and functionality of the client is satisfactory, it is convenient to use. Updates can be displayed in the appropriate widget directly on the home screen. The client's weak side is the loss of status if it is impossible to update it (due to network loss, for example). It is also not entirely clear why the developers installed such a thin and because of this not very aesthetic font. If you don't like this application, you can find many alternative free and paid clients in the Nokia store.

Office Applications

id = "sub7">

For office applications, I would classify the to-do planner, calendar, programs for viewing office documents, and book readers. All this is in the Nokia 808.

From the "office" package it is worth noting the Communicator application, which allows you to use any SIP client. The preinstalled QuickOffice package is fully functional with automatic updates via the developer's web server. This means you can easily work with all office documents and presentations.

"Calendar" allows you to view events, both by date and by time and action. The program is a high-quality planner-organizer, all in one. All events can be divided into four groups with corresponding fields: "Meeting", "Memo", "Anniversary" and "Business".

The "Clock" item contains two utilities at once: an alarm clock and world time. World clock displays the time for the selected cities.

File Manager is a built-in memory manager. It displays the contents of the phone memory, memory card or external drives in the form of folders. The program allows you to rename, move and run various files. The settings have the ability to display folders in a list or in thumbnails.

Other pre-installed applications include the YouTube client, Adobe PDF (to view the corresponding files), ZIP archiver, dictionary with downloadable databases, photo and video editor, search by device, as well as on the Internet, Here and Now (application for displaying a number of restaurants, cinemas, weather, GPS and cellular data are used).

Musical possibilities

id = "sub8">

A few words about the music player Nokia 808. Graphic track covers, descriptions, submenus look extremely attractive and modern.

In general, the music player supports mp3 files with various bit rates, including high ones, as well as WMA, AAC, eAAC, eAAC +, AMR-NB, AMR-WB. When playing a song, the display shows information about the track, album, artist. Management is clear, anyone can figure it out. There is support for random or sequential file playback. Sorting by artist, album, genre, composer is available.

You can minimize the player and continue working with other applications. The player's interface is specially adapted to the capabilities of the touch display. The center buttons are responsible for playback settings. Long press on the scroll bar allows you to rewind a specific track.

Besides the player, the Nokia 808 has a standard FM radio receiver. The user can search for radio stations in the range from 87.5 MHz to 108 MHz. There is an automatic tuning of all stations, for individual channels you can assign your own name. The radio also works in speakerphone mode. The radio runs in the background. The RDS function shows not only the title of the radio station in the general list at the top, but also other information. You can record radio broadcasts in the phone memory. In addition, there is an internet radio app with access to thousands of stations around the world.

Camera. Photo and video capabilities

id = "sub9">

Now it's time to tell you about the most interesting part of the Nokia 808 PureView - the camera. As mentioned, the maximum resolution is indicated as 41 megapixels. In fact, the maximum effective resolution is 38 megapixels. By this parameter, the phone really surpasses everything that came before.

The manufacturer has installed a photomodule with a 1 / 1.2 ″ CMOS matrix in the smartphone. This is more than the average compact camera, and almost reaches the size of the sensor in Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras. The actual resolution of images when shooting with a 4: 3 ratio is 38 megapixels, at 16: 9 - about 35.

A reasonable question will be, why is all this necessary?

It turns out that the use of such a resolution made it possible to realize an analogue of optical zoom, but without a complex optical zoom system. The camera user can zoom in on objects in the photo without losing detail. No mobile phone before Nokia 808 could do this. There is no point in using such a function all the time, but sometimes it is still needed. For example, when you are shooting a distant subject.

The camera can operate in three modes. We are talking about photography in maximum resolution, as well as two PureView modes with an end resolution of 5 and 8 megapixels. In the latter, the smartphone processes blocks of 8 or 5 pixels, respectively, as one pixel. Roughly speaking - resampling, which is the essence of PureView technology. It also allowed for 5- and 8-megapixel zoom photography. Volume buttons are responsible for zoom in / out. Zoom can be activated by "swipe" anywhere on the screen. The zoom area is shown.

The photo module is turned on either through the menu, or by a dedicated button on the left side of the smartphone body, and it turns on quickly enough. The camera itself is very fast and responsive, no stuttering. In terms of speed, it will give odds to almost all point-and-shoot cameras: focusing is fast and confident, the frequency of continuous shooting is good. You can focus either by touching the screen or by half-pressing the camera button. With the button held down, the device takes a series.

There is also an ND filter (Neutral Gray) to control the amount of light transmitted. His work is especially visible in night photographs, as well as photographs in motion.

Auto contrast allows you to get good picture quality on a bright sunny day. In manual mode, ISO settings are 100, 200, 400, 800. The following shooting modes are available: Landscape, Auto, Night portrait, Sports, Night, Portrait, Macro, Snow.

Another point that photographers can appreciate is the xenon flash. It is twice as powerful as it was on the Nokia N8 and is quite comparable to modern compact cameras.

The phone supports video recording in mpeg4 format for maximum resolution, and in the settings you can specify whether the video will be recorded with or without sound. All settings are comparable to those for photos, but video resolutions are different, plus effects are supported. The maximum resolution is 1280x720 pixels, there are also 720x480 pixels (30 frames), or 640x480 pixels (30 frames). Two additional resolutions - 320x240 and 176x144 pixels.

The video being recorded is very good. It looks great on a phone screen, and it looks good on a computer.

Photos can be viewed from the "Photos" menu. Pictures are displayed in the form of thumbnails, the list opens very quickly, there are no delays even with a large number of pictures or images. You can flip through photos in the gallery.

The built-in player is responsible for viewing video files in Nokia 808. It supports codecs support DivX, H.264, MPEG-4, VC-1, Sorenson Spark VGA 15fps, Real video 10 QVGA 30fps. Video Streaming: H.264, Flash Lite 4, Flash 10 Compatible for Video, On2 VP6, Sorenson Spark.

It is worth noting that the smartphone allows you to watch movies, for example, in .avi format, and videos in HD format without any problems.

App and Music Store

id = "sub11">

Missing apps, utilities and widgets can be downloaded from Nokia Store. The app store is organized in the same way as the Apple Store. All applications are divided into categories: programs, games, themes, videos, music, etc., there are lists of the most popular free and paid applications, keyword search.

Similarly, you can buy and download music and video content.

Navigation capabilities

id = "sub12">

The Nokia 808 uses Nokia's proprietary maps package version 3.08 as the basic navigation program. This application can be launched from the phone's Maps menu. The latest updates and maps are available for download on the developers website. It is worth noting that detailed maps of a larger number of Russian cities are available here, there is no need to talk about Europe - they are there in full, similarly for other countries.

When the program starts, for some time, information is downloaded from the operator's base stations about the location, current time, and maps are also downloaded. After receiving the coordinates, you can determine where you are at the moment. In the program menu there is a search for objects by text information, address, geographic location, history, contacts stored in the phone. All objects on the map are displayed with a corresponding icon. It is possible to display street names and other information in Latin letters. There is support for searching in Cyrillic.

The user can choose the option of displaying the map - 2D or 3D picture, day or night mode. In addition, the option of displaying "satellite view" has been added, it is similar to what we see in Google Maps.

When navigating, a pre-marked route is displayed in big bold arrows. Among the pleasant features, you can find information about the weather, the situation on nearby roads, etc.

In general, navigation using Nokia maps is similar to other similar services, although I personally consider this service to be one of the most convenient and accurate.

Memory and speed

id = "sub13">

For storing files and other data in the internal memory, there is 16 GB and a microSD card . The memory can be expanded up to 32 GB with the purchase of the appropriate card. This will obviously be enough. There is no memory card included with mobile phones.

Nokia 808 has a 1.3 GHz ARM11 processor and 512 MB RAM. In addition, the phone has a dedicated DNSe chip, which is responsible for sound processing. The interface works fast even when compared to Android, which is good news.

Communication capabilities

id = "sub14">

In addition to the standard connection to a computer via microUSB, the Nokia 808 supports Bluetooth 3.0. Bluetooth enables wireless connection of peripheral devices such as A2DP / AVRCP stereo headsets.

When connected to a USB port, there are several connection options: Mass Storage, Nokia Suite, Print & Media.

The model supports packet data transmission using GPRS and EDGE technologies, as well as 3G networks with HSPA support. The phone can be used as a modem with up to 21 Mbps downstream traffic.

Nokia 808 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n standard. Security standards - WEP, WPA, WPA 2. Also, the settings indicate the time of scanning for WLAN networks. In standby mode, the user can launch the Wi-Fi networks wizard. It can search for them in the background and, if necessary, connect to such networks. You can enable and disable Wi-Fi in the status bar at the top of the screen, conveniently. Maximum speed up to 54 and 11 Mbit / s incoming and outgoing traffic, respectively.

One of the main distinguishing features of the new Nokia is the NFC module, even inexpensive smartphones have this functionality. Let me remind you that NFC is a short-range high-frequency wireless communication technology. It allows communication between devices at a distance of about 10 centimeters and is used to pay for goods and services, travel in public transport, quickly and easily transfer files between two such phones, connect Bluetooth accessories. Testing of paying for metro fares using NFC is already underway, so the technology may become widespread next year, especially since almost all new smartphones are equipped with such chips.

In Nokia 808, you can transfer contacts, business cards, photos and videos to another phone with NFC, you just need to activate the function and bring the devices close to each other.

Duration of work

id = "sub15">

The Nokia 808 has a 1400mAh Li-ion battery. In our testing, with the number of calls 25-30 minutes a day, listening to the player and browsing the Internet for an hour, the device worked for two days with active widgets. With less use of the phone, as well as using the power saving mode, you can count on four days of work for sure. The battery is charged for two hours.

Outcome

id = "sub17">

Nokia 808 PureView is not so much a smartphone as a camera. This is truly the best mobile photography gadget. No wonder they write on the Web that this model is a camera with telephone functions, and not vice versa. Of course, the device will inscribe its name in the history of mobile technology as the first phone with a 41-megapixel sensor. I would never have thought that I would become so attached to Nokia 808, but it really pleased me with its photo capabilities.

If we talk about the device as a purely phone, then it is not the best. Yes, a large screen, but a small resolution. Yes, updated OS, but Windows Phone, iPhone and Android seem to be more convenient and faster. At the same time, from charging to charging, it lasts much longer than its competitors from Apple and Google.

I will not hide that this device is more suitable for a lover of unusual things. One cannot count on mass character here.

Benefits

 • Excellent camera and photography capabilities
 • Long battery life

disadvantages

 • Weak built-in internet browser
 • Mostly brooding interface
 • Low screen resolution

The Nokia 808 PureView could be bought for the price on the day of publication from 23 500 rubles.

The phone for testing was provided by Nokia.

One of the main sensations of Mobile World Congress 2012 was the announcement of Nokia. After this announcement, even skeptics were forced to admit that, despite the difficulties discussed by everyone and the difficult times experienced by the company, the Finnish manufacturer has not forgotten how to release technologically advanced and even innovative products. We are talking about the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone, which attracted everyone's attention with its camera with an image sensor with a resolution of as much as 41 megapixels, which is more than many DSLRs, not to mention all (absolutely all!) Smartphones on sale.

conclusions

It is difficult to draw conclusions about the Nokia 808. If you approach its assessment precisely from the point of view of typical smartphone requirements and expectations, then this is clearly not the best solution for your money. A small screen with a low resolution, an outdated OS, a very controversial design that goes against the fashion for thin minimalistic devices ... The only parameter by which the Nokia 808 breaks ahead is the battery life. However, it is precisely because of this that you should not buy it.

But what the Nokia 808 is worth buying is because of the outstanding camera. But what is she capable of? This will be discussed in a separate article, where we will compare the photo capabilities of Nokia 808 not only with the iPhone (a logical choice), but also with the Canon mirrorless camera.

It is because of the camera that our conclusions can be considered preliminary. As the final conclusion about Nokia 808 directly follows from the conclusion about its photo capabilities. But, on the other hand, those users who buy a smartphone not for the sake of a camera can not read further, but simply accept the conclusion that Nokia 808 is not for them. But all those who have thought about purchasing a camera phone or an inexpensive smartphone with a good mirrorless camera should carefully study the results of our testing and draw their own conclusion based on them.

Nokia 808 PureView Smartphone - Review

Yes, I know that this smartphone came out a long time ago, and that I promised a review of it since last summer, but my hands still did not reach and did not reach. But then I thought that it’s still better late than two years later, and it is imperative to consider this machine, because it is extremely peculiar and even innovative, despite the noticeable technical backwardness in terms of operating systems. Yes, yes, this is how it is all sudden and all very contradictory. Most IT journalists and even leading mobile analysts have unsubscribed on this phone long ago, and it was very interesting to read their articles, because the spread of opinions there is absolutely gorgeous: from "what for, Nokia has released this useless animal" to "finally there is a phone that could replace a twenty thousand dollar DSLR. " The truth, however, as usual, lies somewhere in the middle, but at the same time it is extremely far from a DSLR camera that costs even two thousand dollars, so let's still figure out what this - in any case, very interesting - smartphone is. Moreover, it is still quite sold and quite bought. By the way, Nokia 808 PureView came to me for a thorough study from the Yulmart online store, deep respect and gratitude to him and all his warehouses. Well, now let's go. Nokia 808 PureView.

Average price in Moscow: RUB 18,000 From the point of view of most of the characteristics, it is the most ordinary telephone with a small display and an extremely average resolution for now (and even a year ago). However, here and not to say that all the characteristics are quite mediocre: with the exception of the display, everything is more or less decent here. Only the operating system is seen as problematic: Nokia itself began to bury the Symbian system since the end of 2011, it was replaced by the Nokia Belle operating system, made on the basis of Symbian, but it is clear that it will not live long - competition with Android, iOS and Windows Phone she can not stand, which is why Nokia and began to actively release phones for Windows Phone. But the most interesting parameter in this phone is, of course, a camera with a 41 megapixel matrix, unheard of even for cameras. We, of course, understand that image quality is influenced not only by megapixels, but by the physical size of the matrix, optics, and so on, but nevertheless, it is interesting to see what results can be achieved with it. Delivery and equipment Supplied in a traditional blue box. ("In a traditional blue box of blue color," clarified the cat Bublik.)
The package is discreetly necessary: a smartphone, a microUSB cable, a power adapter, headphones and brochures.
Appearance and management Outwardly, this phone looks like a more or less typical Nokia phone. Which, of course, is more than strange, but we will accept this fact with an open heart.

Design from the series: black top - white bottom. The top of the phone is covered with scratch-resistant glass. The ends and the bottom cover are made of white matte plastic, which lies well in the hands. Some users reproached Nokia for choosing plastic for this phone, but not armored steel, but everything is clear - the problem of weight. The phone is already heavy. With armored steel, he would have to be carried in an armored train. And although it would continue to be called a "mobile phone", the directions of its mobile movement would be extremely limited.

The camera, of course, in contrast to almost all other phones, stands out sharply. When you pick up the 808, you immediately see - THE CAMERA IS! And she is very unusual!

Moreover, the upper part with the camera is noticeably heavier than the lower one, and you understand that Nokia has stuffed something very significant there. Perhaps even almost a DSLR. The camera sticks out noticeably above the back cover, so in profile the phone resembles either an intricate high-tech police baton or a kitchen device for beating meat. Here is just that very cunning camera - figak on the meat, figak! Of course, there is no grace in this phone as a class, but the camera attracts everyone's attention, because you can see that the thing is fancy. And this is a camera, a TV or a radio receiver on a warm lamp sound - not everyone understands this. The main thing is that it looks interesting and unusual. Although slightly clumsy. That is, mallet. Right side: volume rocker, lock-unlock switch, camera call.
The top end is an HDMI output with a cap, a miniUSB input and a headphone output.
The bottom end is a microphone and a lock slot. There is also a slot under which you can pry the back cover and remove it.
Under the cover is a removable battery that can be removed to access the microSIM and microSD slot.
From the control buttons on the top panel there are three buttons: pick up the phone (aka input), the "Home" button (call the desktop or the list of installed applications), hang up (aka return, cancel and the power button with a long press).
Smartphone operation I don't really want to make a detailed review of the operating system of this phone, because, of course, Symbian (Nokia Belle) is living out its last days, despite the fact that this operating system is quite good and a lot of popular applications have been written (ported) for it. Experts were very surprised that Nokia released such an interesting smartphone (it is even often called a camera phone, thus emphasizing the priority of a camera over a means of making calls) on an operating system, which the company itself refuses. (As we remember, Nokia knows how to bury promising operating systems: it's enough to recall the very interesting Maemo shown in the Nokia N900 phone, which Nokia for some reason buried for the sake of a ghostly collaboration with Intel, with which they began to poke out the MeeGo operating system, which is widespread so and did not receive it.) In the end, the specialists came to the conclusion that this is due to some of the possibilities that Nokia could provide such a camera phone on an operating system that the company knows well. However, what is there to guess? What was released, then released. We will consider what is. By the way, I was able to test this device quite closely as a smartphone. It was made by the second device, I more or less adjusted it for myself and went with it for a couple of weeks. The general conclusion is the following: it could be used quite well as an ordinary working device. The most important thing is that the smartphone could be configured to my Google account, and it downloaded all contacts (even with images) and a calendar. Without this, of course, the phone would not make any sense to me. And so - everything turned out very well: I immediately received all the data I needed, so then I just had to find and install the appropriate applications, many of which were ported for this operating system from iOS or Android. The structure of Nokia Belle is not too different from the same Android. Several desktops with icons and widgets.

A separate window with installed applications is their complete list. And pay attention to the panel below with on-screen control buttons - everything is like in Android.

The notification area with the settings icons at the top is the same as in Android. (Note, I have no idea who first came up with this and who borrowed from whom, but somehow I don't care.)

The keyboard on such a screen is too small, I have lost the habit of such a long time: it was extremely inconvenient to type, the letters were confused all the time.

All the main applications - phone, SMS, mail, audio and video player, browser, photo gallery - worked perfectly fine and I would not say that I experienced any discomfort.

It is not very convenient to use a browser on a display with such a resolution after modern smartphones (the same year ago): nothing is really visible, you immediately want to call the mobile version and immediately close it.

All kinds of additional applications, firstly, are installed in the phone itself - a calculator, calendar, clock, radio, voice recorder, notes, office programs, social networks, and so on - and, secondly, there are a lot of them in the corresponding store, so, in general, there are no problems here.

The only thing is that I absolutely do not like the Nokiev maps, and even more so the Nokiev navigation, but here I did not find an alternative: there is neither Navigon, nor Sygis, nor Google Maps, nor Yandex.Maps, which is unpleasant.

Of the purely Nokia features - a rather large number of all kinds of image processing tools and built-in DLNA support, which allows you to transfer and play media files between a smartphone, computer and other devices. Battery life The battery here is rather weak and, despite the good power saving of Symbian and the lousy display resolution, all together it gives relatively modest battery life. There is no trace of a few days of battery life here. In the best case, the battery normally lasts one day with a standard smartphone load (calls, a little Internet, a little reading, periodically all sorts of applications and a few photos), while by the evening 30% of the battery, 20%, or even less may remain. So, during normal use, it is advisable to charge the smartphone every day. Active photography also drains the battery noticeably, so don't expect to be able to shoot continuously with your phone from morning to night: it is hardly designed for that. Walking with him from morning to evening to periodically get and click something interesting - it works fine. And to shoot, for example, at an exhibition - here he is unlikely to live more than half a day. However, it is not very clear why at the exhibition to take pictures with a phone, even with such a one. Camera operation Well, now let's get down to the main thing. The camera of the Nokia 808 PureView smartphone. But here first - a small lyrical digression. PureView technology has been developed at Nokia for a long time: as far as I know, about five years. The sensor here is 1 / 1.2 "and with a resolution of 41 megapixels. How did Nokia manage to cram such a fantastic resolution into the sensor? And they just enlarged the sensor in comparison with other communicators. However, one must clearly understand that such a resolution does not mean that Nokia 808 will give out noticeably more details than other smartphones.The physical laws, sadly, have not been canceled, and since the physical size of the matrix here is limited by the body of the device, this in any case affects the image quality. pictures with a very high resolution, but the detail here is not as much better as some users assume, who saw the figure of 41 megapixels. Another problem is the optics. No matter how you put Carl Zeiss lenses in your smartphone, they will still be small lenses with all the problems inherent in them.And then get out as you like, but this optics will still be worse than the optics of most modern ny "soap boxes", not to mention "DSLRs". Giving the user a sensor with a wild resolution that doesn't really do much is not a good idea, but Nokia came up with an interesting idea: they came up with PureView technology. Which acts as follows. When using this technology, you can choose between 8MP, 5MP and 2MP resolutions. During shooting, adjacent matrix points are combined and processed in a very difficult way. For example, for 8 megapixels 5 points are combined, for 5 megapixels - 8, for 2 megapixels - 20 points. At the same time, with PureView, you can use Zoom, which will not degrade quality: simply because there is no physical reduction of the image, since Zoom from PureView simply cuts out the corresponding part of the picture from the full matrix. Below I will show how this happens. The PureView algorithm, according to the developers, affects the quality, as a result of which the image is clearly better than that of other smartphones - both in detail and in color quality. By the way, in practice, to be honest, I didn't notice much difference between full resolution and PureView mode. Unless the frames in PureView, of course, took up noticeably less space, because the frames in full resolution turned out to be 7728x4354 pixels (where the real effective area of the matrix, due to technical reasons, is less than 41 megapixels) and the size is somewhere from 7 to 15 megabytes, in depending on the type of image: it is clear that those JPEG files in which there were more homogeneous areas were compressed by the algorithm noticeably better than very variegated images. My minimum size turned out to be 7.2 MB, and the maximum size was 15.0 MB. Now about the interface. The Nokia 808 does not have a lot of settings, and I was a little surprised that I came across phrases in the reviews, like “the number of settings is not inferior to the same“ soap boxes. ”In fact, here is the most common set - flash, compensation, white balance, ISO, modes shooting (scenes).
Of the exotic, there is only the ability to turn on the light-absorbing filter (ND), well, the PureView selection mode with the appropriate parameters or full resolution - also with the corresponding parameters.

For some reason, there is a saturation and contrast adjustment here - it's not very clear what the point is before shooting.
Well, there are also the so-called "other parameters".

Shooting is generally quite convenient. In addition to the usual on-screen button, which you still need to be able to get into, you can shoot here by long pressing the photo call button. (By the way, I really miss this button and this feature in other smartphones.) The smartphone allows you to call the camera and take pictures even when the phone is locked - with the same long press of the photo button. This is very convenient, because it takes exactly two seconds to grab the phone and take a picture. With an ordinary smartphone, and even a compact camera turned off, this number will not even go near. The only thing I didn’t like about the controls was that the on-screen photo-video switch was triggered by a light touch, and I turned on video shooting many times when I had absolutely no intention of doing it. The video mode has three resolutions available - FullHD, 720p and 360p, - as well as four types of frame rates - 15, 24, 25 and 30. What I think about the results of shooting with this device, we will talk at the end of the article, and now it's time to show pictures and videos. I'll make a reservation right away that I didn't take shots from the series: here I am shooting a Nokia 808, here is a Galaxy S III, here is a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, and here is a matchbox. There are plenty of similar comparisons on the Web, and, as is characteristic, they are far from always 100% indicative. Also, I will not post the full sizes of all the presented images, because, firstly, all this really will not crawl onto the server in the conditions of severe ADSL, and secondly, this is also full on the Web for those who like to crawl photos into every pixel. As usual, I write reviews not for professionals and not for specialists, but for simple (and advanced) users who want to understand what a device is in purely practical terms. Therefore, photos are laid out in the same way as in camera reviews: a preview of 600 pixels (limiting the layout column), when clicked, will open an image of 1920 pixels. I did not do any processing (except for resizing with the maximum compression quality), the EXIF data, of course, is saved. Snapshots in size (it is saved in EXIF) 2048x1152 is 2 Mp PureView, 3072x1782 - 5 Mp, 3840x2160 - 8 Mp, 7728x4354 is full size without PureView. Now let's go. Daylight, table mess.
Very cloudy weather.
Plot in poor weather. By the way, in this frame, smartphones usually have automatic white balance. I practically didn't swim here.
Backlit street.
But you can slightly tighten the sliders (in post-processing, of course).
Buttercups flowers.
Urban graffiti.
I took two steps over the fence.
On the border, the clouds go gloomily. It was aiming at the sky, in the shadows everything was gone.
But you can also move the sliders.
Artificial lighting of a serene ham.
Blue sky serenity.
Blue sea serenity.
In the same place, at the same time, but with a backlight - it was drawn very interestingly.

Urban diversity.
Sea.
Back light. Well, in the next frame it is very convenient to demonstrate why such a resolution is needed. Do you see the witness from Fryazino in his underpants in the middle of the frame? It is almost invisible even when magnified.
But I cut it out from the original one to one. Generally impressive.

Mainly cloudy. It's sunny again.
Can you see the name of that hotel over there in the middle? Which is to the right of the red building?
Yes, no question, now we will cut it out.

In the evening against the setting sun in the clouds. An interesting effect turned out.
Twilight, Moon.
There at night.
Another night. Everything was shot hand-held.
By the way, the flash works very, very decently - here's a shot in complete darkness.
And here is a picture in complete darkness with the light from the display.
Now a little bit of a video shot in the street during the day on a good day.

By the way, the sound on the video is very cool: clean, high quality, and also in stereo (there are two microphones). Observations at work and conclusions From observations during work. As a phone, the Nokia 808 did not make much of an impression: it is, of course, mostly inferior to devices based on Android, iOS and Windows Phone. Known problems: the lack of some applications that can be found for the other three systems, not very high smoothness and speed of work, some obsolescence in the look and the lack of certain features. Also, of course, such a low screen resolution is annoying, especially for surfing and working with maps. But at the same time, the operating system looks quite well-developed, it is synchronized with Google accounts and many others, it performs most of the tasks without any problems, there are many applications for it in the store (although, as I understand it, there are practically no new developments), and in the end, I would say this: as a second phone, this device can be used. But exactly as the second. Now about the camera. I will say right away - I did not immediately get used to it, I apologize for the habit of habitually tautologing. I did not immediately understand how it can be quickly brought into full combat and political readiness, I did not immediately figure out in which modes it is better to use it. But when I figured it out and looked closely at what she was getting in the pictures, I realized that this smartphone camera, of course, leaves everyone else far behind. That is, other smartphone cameras did not lie here and there, and in very many parameters: detail, dynamic range, white balance, focusing (the focusing speed here, of course, is as slow as with other smartphones, but at least it misses much less often). Not to mention the very interesting PureView mode with the ability to do 3x Zoom without losing quality, as well as the ability to get very fine details from full-frame frames. In critical notes about this smartphone, one can often hear claims from the series "yes, these 41 megapixels are just a marketing ploy, 808 shoots no better than other smartphones." So, this is said by people who did not even hold 808 in their hands. Because here, on the one hand, really no super miracle has happened and could not have happened, but Nokia has released a smartphone camera, which obviously outperforms all smartphones in quality, and many digital amateur cameras, especially compact ones. Of course, it would be foolish to say that this camera can completely replace most amateur cameras (especially DSLRs). She can replace them for strictly defined tasks - this is the truth. It is clear that we have very average optics here (it cannot be anything else here) and only a wide-angle lens. But just at this resolution with cropping, you can do interesting things. For example, here's a typical wide-angle shot.
And we need to make a shot with the fishermen out of it. With its 7728x4354 resolution, we just crop the frame from the center - and it turns out pretty decent, because there is no reduction.
It is clear that you cannot shoot a good portrait with this camera, you cannot play with bokeh on it, it is difficult to use it in situations where you need to quickly take a lot of shots, and the phone battery is not designed for long series of shots, not to mention the fact that when you shoot in full format, the camera often slows down for 4-5 seconds in order to have time to record the captured frame (there is always a 2-second delay, but often more than twice). But for the usual blogging shooting from the series "where have I been, what have I seen" - it is actually more than enough. Moreover, in the report they can shoot, in general, from afar, without attracting special attention to themselves, because "well, what can this guy take on the phone." But this phone can take a lot of things, and I was convinced of this. In general, I can safely say that this device even exceeded my expectations. I also thought at first that the 41 megapixel is just a marketing gimmick. But here it is far from only 41 megapixels, here is really a proven technology. And this phone would be inside Android or at least Windows Phone - it would already be of great interest as, let's say, a blogging device. But even if there is a Nokia Belle inside, I now constantly carry it with the second device. Why not carry around if it solves 90% of my everyday photographic tasks? And, besides, I hope that Nokia will not abandon this most interesting development and make some kind of device with it on a more modern and not dying mobile operating system. It would be really interesting!

Smartphone Nokia 808 PureView was a real sensation at the February exhibition in Barcelona. A 4-inch AMOLED screen and, most importantly, a camera never seen before in mobile devices, and all this, coupled with an outdated OS, rather large dimensions and weight. The model turned out to be unusual. It will not be a hit, but it will write its name in the history of mobile technology as the first phone with a 41-megapixel sensor.

The smartphone came to us for testing before the start of official sales and only for a couple of days. Due to time constraints, some aspects of the Nokia 808 PureView remain
for example, we were not able to test the autonomous operation of the device in different modes. Since we are dealing primarily with an advanced camera phone, it was decided to pay special attention to the photographic capabilities of the device.

How did you manage to fit the 41-megapixel module into the phone? Can the Nokia 808 PureView replace a digital camera? How justified is the release of a smartphone with such a camera? Let's try to answer these and other questions in the review.

Appearance

Heavy, thick and comfortable - that's how you can summarize the body and look of the Nokia 808 PureView. Against the background of modern smartphones, the Finnish device really stands out for its weight and thickness: almost 170 g and 18 mm in the camera area. At the same time, the model lies well in the hand, the index finger hits exactly the base of the thickening of the block with the camera.

On the right side of the Nokia 808 PureView, there are three controls at once. There is a dual volume button, a screen lock lever and a separate key to activate the camera.

Above is a 3.5 mm audio jack, a microUSB port, a noise canceling microphone and a microHDMI connector covered with a plastic cap. There is nothing on the left side, and the main microphone and a lace loop are located below.

On the front panel under the screen there is an oblong plastic insert with three physical buttons: "Call", "Menu" and "Hang up / Enable / Disable"... The back side of the Nokia 808 PureView is the most solid - massive "Hump" with the camera immediately attracts attention. In the middle of the cover is the Nokia logo, below - a rubberized insert, which gives the smartphone stability on a smooth surface. Under the back panel we will find the battery and slots for a memory card and SIM - to access them, the battery will have to be removed.

The device is completely made of plastic, in our case white. The material is rough, pleasant to the touch, and generally very practical. The build of Nokia 808 PureView is perfect - tightly knit "heavyweight" leaves the impression of a reliable thing.

Display

Thanks to ClearBlack technology, the 4-inch AMOLED screen pleases with deep black color even in the sun and upsets the resolution: 360 × 640 with such a diagonal is very small. With 184 ppi pixels per inch, individual dots are clearly visible, especially on the round icons that Nokia loves so much. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass. The advantages of the matrix include large viewing angles, which, however, is typical for all OLED screens.

If it weren't for the graininess, the display of the Nokia 808 PureView could well be called very good. Considering the high cost of the smartphone and comparison with other top-level models, the low resolution should be attributed to the significant disadvantages of the model.

Interface

The novelty runs Symbian Belle Feature Pack 1 (aka Nokia Belle). The operating system does not look like a dinosaur from the past, but still it is far from modern operating systems, although Belle tries to copy many elements of some other platforms. From Android, for example, it got the notification panel and various-sized widgets, the icon design came from MeeGo.

The user has access to up to six desktops, where he can place shortcuts to applications, the above-mentioned widgets and contacts for quick access. There are three virtual buttons at the bottom of the screen. The far left opens the main menu, the middle one brings up the dialer, and the right one opens the menu. In the list of programs, the place of the key for calling the main menu is taken by the button to return to the previous screen, and a link to search for applications appears in the middle.

Programs can be removed directly from the menu, or they can be placed in folders. There are many preinstalled applications on the smartphone, not all of them are useful, but the necessary ones can be downloaded from the online application store. It takes an unbearably long time to install programs: even a small application with a volume of a couple of tens of kilobytes takes about two minutes. The Angry Birds game was installed in 10 minutes, even more time was spent on the map of Belarus "Weighing" 80 MB.

By the way, about the cards. With Belarus, Nokia Maps is still dull, so the usefulness of the service in our country is zero. 808 PureView owners also have access to a calculator, file manager, office suite, notes, voice recorder, dictionary, radio, Shazam, social media clients and many other applications. Most of them are very austere, with a predominantly dark design - just in the OS style.

Compared to previous versions of Symbian, the Belle platform has taken several big steps forward. However, in order to catch up with modern competitive operating systems, it does not need to walk, but to run, and for this Nokia has neither the strength nor the desire. The installed Symbian Belle Feature Pack 1 looks more like an advanced phone platform than a full-fledged smartphone OS that Apple and Google have taught everyone. The operating system from Nokia constantly informs about clearing memory, needs to be rebooted almost after every hard-won installation of the application, asks to wait while something is processed in its electronic brains.

Users of smartphones running Android, iOS and WP will find it difficult to work with Belle, while owners of Symbian devices will definitely like it - simply because it is much better than previous versions of the OS.

However, for the Nokia 808 PureView, the operating system is only a means for implementing photo capabilities.

Camera

Nokia has installed a huge photomodule with 1 / 1.2 ″ CMOS-matrix in the smartphone. This is more than the average compact camera (eg Canon PowerShot S100), and almost reaches the size of the sensor of Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras. The Finnish manufacturer has thus simply jumped over the competition. The actual resolution of images when shooting with a ratio of 4: 3 is 38 megapixels, at 16: 9 - about 35. The sensor with a resolution of 41 megapixels was created for optimal use when shooting in proportions 16: 9 and 4: 3, as well as to minimize edge distortion of optics.

The camera can operate in three modes. We are talking about photography in maximum resolution, as well as two PureView modes with an ultimate resolution of 5 and 8 megapixels. In the latter, the smartphone processes blocks of 8 or 5 pixels, respectively, as one pixel. Roughly speaking - resampling, which is the essence of PureView technology. It also allowed for 5- and 8-megapixel zoom photography. Nokia has conceived a large photomodule resolution not because there is a need for huge photos on mobile phones. This made it possible to use high-quality digital zoom. At maximum magnification, the device simply takes an area equivalent to the final resolution of the photos, but without pixel binning. In conventional digital cameras, interpolation works on digital zoom - details are blurred. Although, for example, Lumix cameras have a similar feature called Intelligent Zoom.

What's the point of shooting with digital zoom when you can shoot at 38MP and then crop? In fact, there is a sense: Nokia 808 PureView zooms in the center of the frame, namely in the center the resolution of the optics is maximum, while details at the edges can be blurry, darkened and with intense chromatic aberrations.

For mobile phone cameras with their miniature sensors, a resolution of 8-10 megapixels has long become familiar. The matrix area of the smartphone in question is 5-6 times larger than that of the iPhone 4S, and 2.5 times larger than that of the Canon PowerShot S100. So the 41 Mp resolution looks quite adequate for a cell phone with such a large sensor.

We compared images captured with the Nokia 808 PureView with those taken with the 36MP Nikon D800 professional DSLR.

Nikon D800

Now let's show sections of the frame at 100% magnification:

As you can see, in good daylight, the smartphone is not much inferior to the $ 3000 flagship. The result for a mobile phone camera is unprecedented.

The Nokia 808 PureView has several color options:

Your smartphone camera can operate in Auto mode, Scene mode, and Creative mode. Only in the latter will you get access to all the settings, and you will also be able to choose the photo resolution.

There is a histogram, exposure control, ISO. Even a neutral density filter (ND filter) is present. It is used for long exposure photography during daylight hours.

The device is very unstable - you cannot hold it in your hands and shoot at long exposures without blurring your photos. Unfortunately, there is no stand included. Whether you want to shoot with an ND filter or low ISO in the evening, the GorillaPod is essential.

We decided to compare the camera in Nokia 808 PureView with one of the most popular compact cameras in our catalog - Canon PowerShot SX150 IS.

Let's see how the built-in flash works:

The flash was no weaker than that of a compact camera. Lack of power, incorrect measurement due to the white wall - and the result is literally there. The Nikon D800 camera clicks such scenes like nuts.

Nokia 808 PureView (ISO 1600)

Canon PowerShot SX150 IS (ISO 1600)

As you can see, the ISO 1600 value left the compact camera no chance. Detailing in Nokia 808 PureView is noticeably better.

There are a lot of dithyrambs to the smartphone camera, so let's talk about the shortcomings. If you love landscape photography, you will have to attend to some kind of tripod. It is impossible to shoot at ISO 64-200 with an emphasis on the surface of the railing, even if you shoot in series.

Some kind of rubber case will not be superfluous: the device outweighs in the hand, and when shooting it is inconvenient to hold it, it strives to slip out.

I didn't quite like the work of the automation. The camera does decent results in good lighting, but a white wall can drive her crazy. The sky turns out to be an unnatural bluish-purple color, many underexposed photos and shadows that have sunk into blackness. Also, on the phone screen, the pictures look more juicy and vivid than they actually are.

If you get used to all the features of the Nokia 808 PureView photo module and actively use exposure compensation, the device can really act as a full-fledged replacement for a compact camera with a small zoom. The new product is very responsive, fast and pleasant to work with.

We were unable to estimate the battery life of the model in different modes and conditions due to time constraints. We can only say that one battery charge lasted for 150 shots. In this case, the battery status indicator remained about a quarter full.

Conclusion

If we consider Nokia 808 PureView only as a regular smartphone, then the device looks very pale. A heavy lumberjack with a grainy screen and Nokia Belle, which has lagged behind for several years, would hardly have aroused any interest, if not for the camera, for which the Finnish manufacturer can probably be forgiven for all its cruel punctures.

The camera is a breakthrough without exaggeration, and the Carl Zeiss lens, despite its miniature size, provides excellent resolution. Many authors have noted that the 808 PureView module provides image quality comparable to modern mirrorless cameras. There is no need to doubt this. It is obvious that in terms of the quality of the pictures, the Nokia smartphone tears the cameras of the iPhone 4S to shreds, and even more so.
