TVs. TVs Mi TV TVs and plasma panels xiaomi

At one time, the TV took pride of place in the living room. Everyone came there to watch news, movies, cartoons or something entertaining.

Only those who earned more than the average office worker could afford this technique.

There has always been a need for some kind of entertaining, cognitive process for ordinary households, and that means there is also a chance for manufacturers to give the desired product to the client.

Companies are not wasting their time and presenting the viewer with new TVs with various capabilities.

But this article is not about the evolution of televisions. Today we will tell you about a well-known brand that is relatively recently on - XiaoMi - with its development Mi TV 4A.

There are several representatives of the model; we will give an example on one, tell you what is the difference between them, is it worth buying a model and what you can expect from it.

Mi TV 4A line

Nowadays, a TV is a rather unnecessary device. Many even abandoned the "box" at home, replacing it with a PC and. However, companies also do not want to lose their audience and adapt to the modern viewer.

The technique has remained, but has grown significantly. And only thanks to new technologies it continues to be popular among the population.

Now these devices can still be controlled.

XiaoMi has always been known as a Chinese computer and phone manufacturer; components of these devices.

But with the development of the corporation (now you can already call them that), the Chinese decided that this is also necessary.

As a result, we got a line of TVs Mi TV 4, and after that - Mi TV 4A. Our review is about the latest version.

The Mi TV 4A series of TVs was first presented at the exhibition in March, 2017. In total, there are 4 models in the line, which differ in size and a little in the configuration - the presence or absence of some additions and capabilities.

For example, the 32-inch XiaoMi lacks speech recognition and smart content picking technology called PatchWall.

In addition, some models are equipped with Full HD panels. The rest use technology with support for 10 and HLG.

Therefore, the last two models are already with screens of greater expansion (the so-called 4K).

There are models with screen sizes from 43 inches and above (approximately 163 cm is the largest). More importantly, you can see the dimensions in the photo (Fig. 1). How to choose the right one for you - read below.

Characteristics

As an example, we will consider a model with a 55-inch screen.

At the end of the inspection, we will repeat ourselves - we will list what you need to pay attention to when buying a TV and for this system we will evaluate our example too.

Price

The first thing we should pay attention to after we wanted to buy a TV is its cost.

Chasing a screen that won't fit into your room, you can freeze in credits.

Here the representatives of the company did not lose, because this line is the most budgetary.

The price of the models started at $ 300, and the cost of the equipment grew with the choice of a larger screen (and functionality, respectively).

Dimensions (edit)

Or in other words, size. There is a very good rule of thumb for those who want to buy a TV, but usually only consultants use it.

The optimal viewing distance for the most comfortable viewing is the screen size multiplied by 3.

If you have little space in your apartment- it will be difficult to cover the whole picture of a large display. And vice versa - if you choose a screen that is too small, you won't see anything normally. That is why it is possible and even necessary to go to the store with a tape measure (and read the description and measure on the Internet).

As for XiaoMi TVs, there are four options for almost any buyer. There is a model with 43, 49, 55 and 65-inch screens.

Resolution (here - screen quality)

Resolution is the number of pixels that make up the screen. The more pixels, the better the picture should be.

The first two Mi TV 4A have screens with Full HD support, which, in principle, is already cool, because the dimensions are 1920 × 1080.

In the last two versions, the lines were no longer used Full HD, but 4K, which is better, larger and better in general (for comparison - 3800x2160).

Important! - this is really very cool - for a designer, artists - who detail the picture and draw something. But such a screen also requires appropriate content. We all know that a small image will not look good on a large screen.

Even now, there is very little content with quality 4K, and it can take a long time to wait until some library is full.

So at such a moment, when choosing a TV, you need to pay attention.

We also add that depending on the version, there are displays from different developers - from Samsung, LG, CSOT or AUO.

It is interesting that there is a difference in the presence of one or another display. For example, it responds to commands very quickly, but in terms of color saturation there is no equal to the Samsung display.

In our example xiaoMi TV, the screen is just 4K, but the viewing angle pleases - as much as 178 degrees.

That is, a large family who decided to watch a movie together will be quite comfortable.

Frequency

Frequency is a parameter that is measured in hertz. The number of image updates per second is the frequency.

There is a maximum frequency of 60 hertz. This is the number of frames per second that the viewer's eyes capture in normal mode; high frequency only in, but for home viewing it is not yet available.

Important! Remember this figure of 60 hertz, then you will know for sure that winding up the price and all the "pluses" of devices that have a purity of 300, 500 and more hertz are the inventions of marketers to raise the image of the product.

Sound

The assembly system of the XiaoMi Mi TV 4A TV is not modular, therefore, the soundbar cannot be taken out together with all the electronics separately.

Instead, the TV was equipped with two speakers with a power of 6 watts. The sound system in the speaker is called Dolby Sound.

This is a new system that should have bass, virtual surround sound and automatic volume control.

Any device has, the sound of which should be at least comfortable and loud. But ordinary speakers have normal sound. If you want to rumble and glass crackle, you will have to buy a soundbar and subwoofer additionally.

Matrix type

In fact, the matrix is a kind of grid that is located under the screen and creates an image under the glass.

Now almost all matrices are made on the basis of LED technology, but the brands of the panels themselves may differ, as already noted.

Ports and wireless connection

All ports on the TV were hidden in the back. It is convenient for navigation - you don't have to search around the sides. So, what we have here is a port for wired Internet, two HDMI 2.0 ports (including ARC), two USB 2.0 ports, AV DTMI and an audio output.

As for wireless connections, it is possible to connect to wi-fi or use Bluetooth 4.2.

Supports connecting multiple devices at the same time.

In addition, you can connect a mouse, keyboard, headphones, audio and other wireless devices. This also applies to the remote control.

You can activate the ports in the settings.

Plus - there is a function to automatically activate the port if a signal is detected.

TV filling

For operation, the equipment was equipped with a 64-bit 6-core Amlogik T962 platform, where 2 GB of RAM and 8 or 32 gigabytes of flash memory (depending on the support of the intelligent video content sorting system - PatchWall and voice commands.

Android operation

It has already been mentioned that TVs have become quite "wiser" and have expanded their potential. We are talking about smart TV technology - here it is.

In this model of TV XiaoMi has already built the Android OS on which our device will work.

But bad luck - the TV is Chinese and the firmware here is also from Asia; accordingly, you still need to learn how to "understand" this wise guy.

The main points to clarify when buying:

Is it possible to change the language (usually this is possible by downloading a special

StartSettings application. Some buttons and sections you just need to skip - just so that later you do not watch the movie, flipped 90 degrees.

By the way, the TV can be controlled not only by the remote control, but also by your smartphone. But even after reinstalling the language, there is no guarantee that the entire menu will be understandable to you. Some buttons and sections you just need to skip - just so that later you do not watch the movie, flipped 90 degrees.

This is if you click on the menu; The necessary applications can be downloaded in, but you simply will not be able to log in with Google, so no games (without) and in general many of the applications simply cannot start.

Instead of the Russian market, you have Chinese, where you can also download applications. In addition, the system does not support digital TV, only analog TV.

When buying a TV, you can do without smart technology. If you are new to this business, then you still do not know: in order to replace some application, you can only later buy a special TV set-top box.

A few more details:

Completion and delivery

The equipment is delivered in a box made of thick cardboard, taking into account the fact that something can be broken. Inside the box is the TV itself. Stand (in the form of special legs) as well as a network cable. The set includes a remote control, but if anything, this component can be purchased separately.

The TV itself is made of aluminum and plastic. Such materials make the device very light (even a 43-inch TV can weigh up to 5 kilograms.

Light weight- this is not only a plus in transportation, but also a plus to the issue of equipment placement.

You don't have to look for a bedside table to put your TV in there. I bought a mount for a certain weight and enjoy watching.

Pros and cons of buying a XiaoMi Mi TV4A TV

  • USB version 2.0
  • No Russian; you can install English and then not the whole TV
  • Not digital TV, only analog
  • Little RAM

At the Consumer Electronics Show, Xiaomi presented the fourth generation of TVs produced under its own brand, the presentation turned out to be quite interesting, because the TVs are now completely frameless, and due to modularity they are also very thin, it is promised that the 65-inch modification will cost up to $ 2,000.

And while reviewers and potential buyers are waiting for the release of the original model, the Chinese have released a budget simplified version of the Mi TV 4A in four screen sizes: 43, 49, 55 and 65 inches. We will look at the first three in this review, the emphasis will be on the modification with a 55-inch screen. We express our gratitude to the store i-xiaomi.ru for the TV provided for the review!

Packaging and equipment

TVs are delivered in single boxes made of colorless medium density cardboard. The internal foam dampers are of medium thickness and, in general, the protection against damage during transportation of the Mi TV 4A does not stand out in any way. In addition to the TV set, the package includes only a remote control and a battery.

Appearance and ergonomics

All three TVs are fairly light for their screen sizes, with most of the case being made of aluminum, the lower back, bezel and legs are made of plastic. Personally, I really liked the appearance of this line, but the designers make it clear that the TV belongs to the budget segment, but the design itself complies with European canons, there is not even a hint of Asian, thanks to which the TV will be able to fit into almost any interior. The downside of the design is that it is boring, there is only one color - black, there are no elements that would dilute the appearance.

Of the classic controls on the TV, only the power button, all control is carried out from the remote control or from a phone with an infrared port through a special application.

Screen

The Xiaomi Mi TV 4A has 43, 49 and 55-inch screens. The resolution of the first two is FullHD, the large TV has a resolution of 3840 * 2160 pixels. All other characteristics vary greatly depending on the model and the matrix used; for the convenience of the reader, I have summarized them in a table. Neither model supports playback of 3D content, but the 55-inch version has HDR support.

Diagonal Permission Color gamut The matrix Response, ms Contrast
43 ″ 1920*1080 n / a Lg 6 1200:1
AUO 6,5 3000:1
49 ″ 1920*1080 n / a Lg 6 1200:1
Samsung 8 6000:1
Huaxing Photoelectric 6,5 4000:1

Huaxing Photoelectric 6,5 4500:1
65 ″ 3840*2160 72% NTSC Lg 6 1200:1
Samsung 8 5000:1

Hardware platform and performance

The hardware platform of the TV is based on the Amlogic T962 system-on-chip, which includes four Cortex-A53 cores operating at frequencies up to 1.5 GHz and a very old, albeit overclocked, Mali-450 video accelerator. RAM type DDR4 is only 2 GB, permanent memory type eMMC 5.1 is only 8 GB, for all models except the smallest there are modifications with 32 GB of memory.

The results of synthetic tests on the TV are very modest, in the sixth version of AnTuTu it gains 32704 points, in the Geekbench 4 singlecore test only 571 points. Obviously, this hardware platform is only suitable for playing content and simple games, modern heavy 3D games on TV either will not start or will work with an uncomfortable fps rate. Despite all of the above, working with the TV is pleasant, the graphical shell works smoothly, the interface is responsive, simple applications start quite quickly.

Wired and wireless interfaces

All interface connectors are collected in one place - on the rear surface, bottom left, they include: ethernet port; three full-size HDMI 2.0 (two on 43 and 49-inch models), one of which supports ARC; two USB 2.0; coaxial antenna connector; composite input and SPDIF. The HDMI interface of the second version implies that when external sources are connected to the TV, content can be transmitted at a resolution of 3840 * 2160 at 60 fps.

Of the wireless interfaces, in addition to the IrDA, the TV has dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2, the latter can be used to connect wireless headphones, speakers, mice, gamepads and other devices.

Acoustics and sound quality

By default, the user will have to settle for two built-in full-size speakers with a power of 6 watts each. The sound from the speakers is unremarkable, it's the same as in the vast majority of budget TVs. If desired, you can separately order a set of soundbar and subwoofer. Built-in sound chip of unknown origin supports audio decoding: Dolby Audio and DTS HD.

Features of the operating system and the logic of interaction with the device

The TV runs on Android 6.0.1 operating system with MIUI TV OS installed on top. Unlike LeEco TVs, there is no Russian language in the system by default, which at the moment can only be obtained by installing a third-party launcher, you will not be able to install the Google Play Store at all, you will have to be content with applications from the Chinese store. However, third-party applications can be installed manually via apk. The interface is made in the tradition of Chinese smart TVs. The main screen scrolls horizontally and from left to right contains content sorted by tabs. All functions of Mi TV 4A are controlled from the remote control or from a smartphone with a special application installed on it. The interface is responsive, switching between different modes and returning to the desktop is almost instantaneous.

Work as a TV and record player

The TV supports viewing an analog signal from an antenna or cable TV, at the same time there is no support for digital TV - this should be borne in mind. The device is designed primarily for IP-TV and streaming services.

To play videos from internal memory or external media, the most popular containers and codecs are supported, including H.264 and H.265 with resolutions up to 3840 * 2160 pixels and frame rates up to 60 fps. The TV does not support playback of 3D content in any form, it seems that the company has played enough with this function.

In conclusion, I will say that we have a budget TV line designed to expand the audience of consumers of Xiaomi paid services. For a buyer in Russia and other CIS countries, only basic characteristics obviously matter, since Chinese services are unlikely to be used by anyone. The advantages of the TV are: low cost, good matrices, European design, availability of all the necessary interfaces; to the disadvantages: a frankly weak hardware platform, USB only of the second version, the absence of the Russian language in the firmware. A TV is worth buying for those users who want to get a good picture and android as an OS for little money; a potential buyer may be scared off by the lack of support for digital TV and a non-standard way of buying.
