Design
The design of Xiaomi Mi 4s can hardly be called flagship attractive. It looks different from different sides. The front panel of the smartphone is glossy, with completely flat glass, and therefore it is featureless. Because of this, the phone resembles previous models, or even other unnamed Android smartphones. It's good that the MI logo doesn't let us get it wrong.
The side edges of the case have changed, they have become thinner and more elegant. This time we got a premium smartphone with a high quality metal case. Xiaomi Mi4s looks more expensive than it actually costs. It is a pity that design elements copied from more eminent competitors are noticeable.
We can understand that we really have Xiaomi Mi 4s in our hands by the fingerprint scanner, which is located in the center on the back panel. It works accurately and quickly in any position of the finger. The flash camera module does not protrude from the surface. But the design itself is a drawback - the texture of the back panel with stripes looks a little strange. It was possible to leave a simple polished metal surface, and not hide it under protective glass.
The sides of the smartphone are puffy and lack the curves that the elegant Mi5 has. But the monolithic body still fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, without leaving the feeling that this is a cheap Chinese phone.
There are four color options to choose from: white, black, pink or gold.

On the opposite side there is a slot for two SIM cards. The good news is that the smartphone supports replacing one of the SIM cards with microSD.
A 5-inch screen is installed on the front panel under a protective glass. Above it is a front-facing camera, earpiece, a set of basic sensors, and a multi-color LED notification indicator.
Below the display is a row of softly backlit touch buttons. As usual, you can reconfigure the key functions in the settings.
On the rear panel in the left corner is the main camera with a dual LED flash. A round fingerprint scanner was installed in the center. Unfortunately, this option is not always convenient - if the phone lies with the screen facing up on the table, you will have to take it in hand to unlock it. The scanner's fingerprint recognition accuracy is high, but it does not hold the record for speed.
The quality of the body materials is high. There is no play, no gaps. Despite the fact that the side edges have no obvious curves, the thickness of the case is only 7.8 mm. Xiaomi Mi4s weighs 133 g.
Display
Although the Xiaomi Mi 4s only has a 5-inch display, it has a Full HD resolution. As a result, we get a dot density of 441 ppi. Due to this, the image is super clear. Performance
Xiaomi Mi4s is powered by a 64-bit six-core Snapdragon 808 processor with two clusters: 2 Cortex-A57 cores up to 1.82 GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 cores up to 1.44 GHz. This processor is mainly found in the basic versions of flagship smartphones. The Adreno 418 accelerator is responsible for the graphics performance.
Mi4s demonstrates excellent performance even in the most graphically demanding games. For example, Asphalt 8, Riptide GP2, NOVA 3 or Modern Combat 5 can be played without losing frames or lags.
Even under the most severe load, the smartphone heats up to 45 degrees. Of the annoying factors, we can note the poor location of the speaker - during games it will almost always be covered with a hand.
The performance of the smartphone is about the same level that it demonstrated, but this is not surprising - they have the same processors.
If you want to buy a smartphone with a large power reserve and premium design, then you will not be disappointed with the Xiaomi Mi4s. You can save money only by choosing one that has a larger display and it will be more convenient in games.

Xiaomi Mi4s has a rather unusual design. He will not get lost in the mass of identical faceless phones that have now flooded the market. The metal edges of the phone are not as clearly felt as in the same Mi4, but thanks to them the phone is very comfortable to hold in hands. In general, all new models of Xiaomi phones have an excellent grip, for which special thanks to the company's engineers. The device has a very symmetrical design. For example, the bottom has five holes on each side of the USB Type-C that hide the microphones underneath.
In fact, the overall design of the Mi4s resembles both the company's Mi device and the Redmi line of devices. To be honest, it doesn't feel like a mega flagship device in the hand. Yes, it looks expensive and nice, but not a flagship.
The navigation touch buttons remain the same as in other models, moreover, they are backlit as expected. This is not the case for Redmi 3.
Both sides of Mi4s are covered with glass. However, the back feels softer than the bezel. The back also houses the Mi logo, a fingerprint scanner and a camera lens (which does not protrude) and a dual LED flash.
In the upper side there is a 3.5 headphone jack, next to an infrared port and a second microphone. There are not so many people who use their phone as a remote control, but as soon as you set it up, you become a thunderstorm in shopping centers and various cafes: you did not like the program - you turned it off, made it quieter or even turned on another channel. Of course, this is also convenient at home if you have a more or less modern TV and other equipment with an IR port.
We should also praise Mi4s for its ergonomics, it is really comfortable in the hand, it is easy to work with it with one hand, thanks to the screen size, it does not feel bulky, on the contrary, it is a small device that works as intended.
In addition, the 5-inch FullHD IPS display (1920 × 1080p) is similar to the display in the Mi4 and has great viewing angles and visibility in bright sunlight, just like all Xiaomi models.
The sound in the headphones is very good, which cannot be said about the speaker of the phone. The sound comes out great through the 3.5 mm port, and the main speaker will not let you feel the volume and power of the sound, although the sound is of high quality and without hiss. On the other hand, who needs a complete audio system in a phone speaker?
Battery life. Putting our hand on our heart, we can proudly say that the battery life of the phone is somewhere between good and impressive. Thanks to its energy efficiency and excellent battery, there will be no problem in achieving everyone's favorite “day on a single charge”. If we talk about performance, then Mi4s, together with its six-core Snapdragon 808, shows good results, however, we are sure that with future updates everything will be even better. As for overheating, the Mi4s does not heat up much compared to other models, which pleases, but the heating occurs quite quickly. With the release of updates, this feature is gradually disappearing. At the time of this writing, this question can be considered almost closed.
Camera. Xiaomi Mi4s y will also disappoint with the camera, which is capable of taking beautiful pictures both during the day and at night. The photos, of course, do not reach the level of the Mi5, but still we would rate this camera an order of magnitude higher than the Mi4, which itself always took great pictures.
