Emoticons for VK - codes of hidden emoticons, how to insert emoticons into the status and on the Vkontakte wall. What is Unicode and Emoji Standard? The meaning of emoticons written in symbols, their decoding, designation and types of emoticons VK emoticons designation

Greetings friends. Today's post will be not only useful, but also funny - we will talk about emoticons for the social network Vkontakte. Funny faces and funny pictures have already become an integral part of any communication on the Internet and everyone wants to diversify their texts with new and original ones.

The legs of all emoticons grow out of textual notation, when it was first thought to represent emotions with symbols. For me, the first smiley was a smile symbol, presented in the form of a closing parenthesis ")", the expanded version of the smile designation additionally has a colon ":)" - this spelling is familiar to everyone, almost all online services automatically transform this code into a cheerful smiling face, but it turns out it is not according to Feng Shui GOST Unicode standard.

Unicode is a standard where all letters, numbers, icons and other printable elements are represented as a unique numeric code. Any device understands this code and displays any symbol correctly. With the Unicode format, you can include any icon in your text, even if it's not on your keyboard. For example, if you want to write the hieroglyph “乔”, put its code “𠁒” and you're done.

The widespread use of emoticons led to the fact that many of their codes were included in Unicode, along with other characters and signs.

Of course, social networks have become active consumers of smiles on an industrial scale, Vkontakte is no exception. For the convenience of users, so that people do not have to remember and manually write codes to display certain pictures, Contact uses a tooltip - a special drop-down list where you can visually select the desired smiley and insert it into a message or post on the wall. But this list contains not all the smiley codes supported by VK, only the most popular ones (otherwise the list would be too cumbersome).

The rest of the smilies are, as it were, hidden, but they can be easily used knowing the designation code in Unicode. In addition to dialogues and a wall, codes of hidden emoticons can also be used in the status, we will analyze how to make statuses in VK emoticons below.

I would like to reveal the topic of emoji in as much detail as possible, but if this description tires you and you yourself know how to insert everything and you just need to get the necessary codes, go directly to. And with the curious, we will delve a little more into history and other interesting moments.

What emoticons work in VK and what is the peculiarity of Emoji

I briefly mentioned the main reason for the appearance of emoticons at the beginning of the post - this is the need to convey emotions that are difficult or long to describe in words. As soon as the Internet ceased to be a purely business tool and moved into the category of entertainment, the need to express smiles, sadness and much more began to go off scale. What makes communication lively and humane (facial expressions, gestures) through text is very difficult to convey, not every writer copes with this task perfectly well, let alone ordinary people flirting through ICQ.

For example, I cannot imagine how it is possible to convey to the interlocutor in text that I wink at him or show my tongue - it will look stupid and will not produce the desired effect, but a round yellow face with a closed eye or protruding tongue is what the doctor ordered.

The peak of the spread of emoticons coincided with the peak of the development of various communication tools - at first it was ICQ with Skype, then millions of Contact, Odnoklassniki and Facebook users were drawn into their networks, now every smartphone owner hangs out on Viber or WhatsApp every day.

Smilies were not always familiar to us now, but now VK automatically converts the code “:)” into a funny face, initially all the designation went through symbols, the sender of the message wrote a set of squiggles, the recipient received them in the same form, understanding to the best of his knowledge, what is meant. At the initial stage, there were few emoticons, almost all were intuitive, or easy to remember. If you look closely, all the basic emoticons look like a face turned to one side.

  • Smile - ":)"
  • Laughter - ": D"
  • Sadness - “:(“
  • Wink - ";)"
  • Indifference - ": - |"
  • Cry - “:" (“
  • Puzzling - ": - \\"
  • Astonishment - ": -o"
  • Surprise - "\u003d -o"
  • Language - ": P"
  • Kiss - ": - *"
  • Oppression - ": - ["
  • Profanity, mat - ": -X"
  • Anger - ": - ||"
  • Nausea - ": -!"

You probably noticed that the described codes are displayed on Vkontakte not as symbols, but as beautiful pictures. This is because the social network is programmed that the combination of symbols corresponds to the desired emoticon, and in each network the image itself will be slightly different in appearance. The reason for the differences is that these smilies are not standardized Unicode characters and there is no standard for their display. On the one hand, this allows each service to make creative images with any level of beauty, on the other hand, devices and services that do not support the unofficial encoding of emoticons will not turn them into pictures at all.

But with Unicode characters, the situation is different, emoticons written with this code will be supported everywhere and always. Knowing the codes of emoticons in the Unicode standard, you can insert absolutely any of the almost 1000 emoticons anywhere in the VK, even in the status, even on the wall.

Example:

Smiley Laughter, informally referred to as “: D”, this input format will not be converted to a picture everywhere. The standardized code for this emoji from Unicode is “😄”, it will be displayed as a 😄 icon on all devices.

But Unicode characters have one peculiarity - they are all simple and black and white. And to make them beautiful and colorful, emoji were invented. Each emoji icon corresponds to its own Unicode character. In fact, these are the same unicode characters, only displayed differently on devices that support emoji. If there is no emoji support, then emoticons will still be shown, only with simple icons. Probably confused you, it's better to give an example:

Emoji are emoticons written according to the Unicode standard, but displayed with brighter and more colorful pictures from a special library, if this library is connected on the site or service.

Vkontakte Emoji library is included, so all emoticons on the social network are colorful and beautiful.

How to put an emoticon in VK status?

The above educational program about emoticons and emoji was carried out for a reason, after it it should become clear to you why writing in the form of a colon with a parenthesis does not lead to the appearance of a smiley smile, but remains in the form of a code - this is not a standard.

Sound familiar?

For the appearance of the desired smiley, you need to write not “:)”, but “😄”.

Now step by step.

Step 1. Open the status editor

In order to put the smiley in the VK status, go to your page (the top item of the panel on the left “My Page”) and under the name, click the link “change status”:

Step 2. Copy the desired emoticon

A field for editing will appear, in it you can write any text and add any smile. Recently, support for a tooltip with a standard set of emoticons has been introduced in the Vkontakte status - if among them there is what you need to choose, if not and the desired smile belongs to the category of hidden, then there are two ways:

Step 3. Insert a smiley into the status text

Both the insertion of the emoticon code and its unicode character will work. Just note that the smiley code must start with an ampersand and a pound sign and end with a semicolon, otherwise VK will not convert it into a picture.

  • Correct: “😄”
  • Incorrect: "128516"

Step 4. Save

How to insert hidden smilies in messages, discussions and on the VK wall

I will not open America in this matter. Anyone who has used Contact at least once knows that when the mouse cursor is placed in the field for writing text on the wall or in the field for discussing a post, an icon appears on the right, revealing a huge list of emoticons - you can choose any from it.

For private messages, this list is even larger, as it includes several bookmarks - individual emoticons for VK (some of them are paid, but for reasonable money, although I see no reason to pay, especially since you can get any emoticon you need from the unicode table ).

However, not all emoji supported by Unicode are included in all these lists. In total, VK shows about 500 different smilies, the rest (almost the same) remain overboard among the hidden ones. That is, they are not that they are hidden, the social network simply considers these smilies not important and not popular, therefore it does not display them in the gallery, and their work is supported in the same way as in the status bar. And the algorithm for inserting hidden smilies is similar:

All you need to use hidden emoticons is to have their standard codes at hand. Below I will give a table of codes, so add the link to this article to your bookmarks so that in the future you will not look for codes for the necessary pictures for a long time.

Emoticon code table for VK

When inserting emoticon codes in Vkontakte, it is imperative to use opening and closing symbols - the smiley begins with () and ends with (;). In other places, you can find codes in their pure form, without these symbols, the codes themselves are correct, but they will not work in VK unless the indicated designations are added.

Some emoticons look like squares when inserted, but do not be alarmed, after saving and updating the VK page, it will transform them into beautiful pictures.

For convenience, when searching for the desired picture, all smilies are grouped by semantic sections, to immediately go to the desired section, click on the name of the required category from the list:

An emoticon is a set of symbols, or an icon, that is a visual representation of a facial expression or body position to convey a mood, attitude, or emotion, originally used in emails and text messages. The most famous is the smiley face, i.e. smile - :-).

There is no clear and reliable evidence of who invented the smiley face. Of course, you can point to ancient excavations, finds of various inscriptions on the rocks, etc., but these will only be guesses of each of us.

Of course, to say for sure that the smiley is a modern invention is a bit wrong. The use of emoticons can be traced back to the 19th century. Examples of their use can be found in a copy of the American magazine Puck from 1881, see example:

Yes, there are a lot of such examples in history, but it is generally believed that Scott Fahlman, a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, was responsible for the first digital form of a smiley. He suggested distinguishing serious messages from frivolous ones by means of using emoticons :-) and :-(. It was already on September 19, 1982. This is especially useful when the mood of your message may be misinterpreted.

YES, BUT YOU NEVER COME ON TIME, ANYWHERE.

YES, BUT YOU NEVER COME ON TIME, ANYWHERE. ;-)

However, emoticons did not become so popular, but revealed their potential after 14 years, thanks to a Frenchman who lived in London - Nicolas Laufrani... The idea arose even earlier, with Nicolas's father, Franklin Laufrani. It was he who, as a journalist for the French newspaper France Soir, published an article on January 1, 1972, under the headline "Take time to smile!", Where he used emoticons to highlight his article. Later he patented it as a trademark and created the production of some goods using a smiley. Then a company was created under the brand name Smiley, where father Franklin Laufrani became president, and son Nicolas Laufrani became CEO.

It was Nicolas who noticed the popularity of ASCII emoticons, which were very much used on mobile phones, and began developing directly animated emoticons that would correspond to ASCII emoticons consisting of simple characters, i.e. what we now use and used to call - smiley... He created a catalog of emoticons, which he divided into categories "Emotions", "Holidays", "Food", etc. And in 1997, this catalog was registered with the US Copyright Office.

Around the same time in Japan, Shigetaka Kurita began designing emoticons for I-mode. But unfortunately, the widespread use of this project did not happen. Maybe because in 2001, Laufrani's creations were licensed by Samsung, Nokia, Motorola, and other mobile phone manufacturers who later began offering them to their users. After that, the world was just inundated with various interpretations of emoticons and emoticons.

The following variations with greases and emoticons became the appearance stickers in 2011. They were created by the leading Internet company in Korea - Naver. The company has developed a messaging platform called - Line... Same messaging app as WhatsApp. LINE was developed in the months following the 2011 Japanese tsunami. Initially, LIne was created to find friends and relatives during and after natural disasters and in the first year, the number of users grew to 50 million. After, with the publication of games and stickers, it totaled more than 400 million, which later became one of the most popular apps in Japan, especially among teenagers.

Smilies, emoticons and stickers today, more than 30 years later, they began to take a place in everyday conversations and correspondence of people. According to studies conducted in the United States, it was found that 74 percent of people in the United States regularly use stickers, emoticons in their online communication, sending an average of 96 emoticons or stickers per day. The reason for this explosive use Emoji is that creative characters developed by various companies help to express our feelings, help to add humor, sadness, happiness, etc.

The emoticons in the tables will be gradually replenished, so go to the site and look for the meaning of the desired emoticons.

When talking with a person in person, you can easily express your emotions on your face and the interlocutor will immediately understand what you feel or want to say. However, in our time, communication through various social networks is gaining more and more popularity. And in order to make communication as convenient and colorful as possible, they came up with smileys.

They are stylized graphic images, namely - a cartoon face, expressing various emotions, such as joy, anger, anger, admiration and others. Thanks to this, you can very easily understand the mood of a person and shorten your message at times, which makes communication more exciting. Also, if you somehow managed to contact a foreigner, but you do not know the language in which he speaks, then emoticons will be of great help, since they are international a means of communication.

A bit of history

In the 17th century in Slovakia, emoticons were used to convey positive emotions... The eccentric play "In Futurum", written by Erwin Schulhof in 1919, contains 4 emoticons that convey different emotions. The film "Port City" also stood out with a smile, only it expressed excruciating despair.

The stylized image was used in the films Lily (1953) and Jizhi (1958). It was no longer an expression of sorrow, but an expression of happiness. The image of smiles is further popularized and various well-known companies and brands do not hesitate to use them in their everyday life. They are used in many films and TV series, including Forest Gump. Also, from 2005 to 2013, the smile becomes the emblem of the Seliger All-Russian Youth Forum.

The article will talk about what a smiley means and what they are. It is worth noting that smilies have long entered our life and have become well entrenched in it, because they, like nothing else, can convey the emotions and feelings of a person.

There are people who communicate regularly using emoticons, because with the development of progress, there are already animated emoticons that can wave, wink, jump and change colors.

There are several smiley alphabets, the most common are standardand japanese... Japanese emoticons are distinguished by the fact that they pay more attention to the eyes, and the standard ones - to the mouth.

The history of the appearance of emoticons

Today, almost no private letter on the Internet is complete without emoticons. Some people get offended if a friend didn't put a colon and a right parenthesis at the end of the letter. Of course, this is stupid, but smileys are already so closely connected with our life.

It may seem to modern children that emoticons have always existed, but in fact, for the first time, a smiley was drawn Harvey Bell - artist by education. In the early sixties, there was a war between insurers in America. Employees were afraid of being laid off and, in order to cheer up themselves and each other, they were distracted and tried to communicate politely and affably with the remaining customers.

One insurance company, in order to stay afloat, decided to hold a promotion, for which they needed an interesting drawing. In late 1963, they approached Harvey with this request. He drew the first smiley :-) which took him ten minutes to develop. For the drawing he was paid a mere penny: $ 43. Then he did not yet know that his simple drawing would become so popular, so he did not issue any rights to it. Harvey's first emojis were pinned and given out to clients. People liked these cute smiles so much that the company turned to the artist again and ordered ten thousand more smileys.

Another story that played an important role in the development of the emoticon can be called the seventies, when brothers from Spain developed the slogan " Happy day!”. From that time on, smilies began to be depicted on clothes. In 1971 a FrenchFranklin Lowfrani the smiley trademark was registered in eighty states.

And the first electronic smilies appeared in the sixties of the last century. Then smilies were used in encoding Unicode... In 1982, Microsoft decided to create emoticons through which you can express emotions.

What do emoticons in VKontakte mean

On the social network VK there are two types of emoticons, these are the standard ones mentioned above, and the voluminous ones offered by the service itself. For three years now, VKontakte users have been able to use emoticons, since only in August 2012 such an opportunity for communication in personal correspondence was added. Until that time, Vkontakte users had to independently compose the designation of emotions from punctuation marks. But the developers made it easier for them: the user can open the smiley menu and select the one that describes his state.

Initially, about thirty emoticons appeared on the network, but after a while another hundred were added, which depicted not only emotions, but also the actions of people, as well as food, animals. But due to the large variety of smiles, communication between people becomes not always clear. Not all people understand the meaning of this or that smile, or understand it differently. To prevent such situations from arising with you, you need to write a few words in addition to the smiley so that the interlocutor understands you.

Popular emoticons VKontakte the following can be named:

  • : ok - everything is fine;
  • -: o - fear;
  • -3 (- sadness;
  • -8) - falling in love;
  • -:] - stupid smile.

Also in VK there are hidden emoticons that can be sent to users by pressing a few keys. But the disadvantage of such emoticons is that they are black and therefore alienate many users.

The most common commands include the following:

  • ALT + 1 - white emoticon denoting a smile ☺
  • ALT + 2 - Black Smile: ☻
  • ALT + 3 - Heart of Love:
  • ALT + 11 - male character: ♂
  • ALT + 12 - female character: ♀
  • ALT + 13 - Melody: ♪
  • ALT + 15 - Sun: ☼

For the symbol to appear in the message, you need:

  1. Hold down the "Alt" key on the keyboard
  2. Dial a digital combination
  3. Release the Alt key

What does smiley 3 mean

In the table above, this emoticon was given and it was said that it means affection. But it is worthwhile to dwell in more detail on its decoding, since not many people understand it. This symbol is associated with animals such as dogs and cats. Indeed, if you look closely, it looks like an animal's face. In another way, this emoticon stands for “ i love " - this is how you can describe any cute animal.

Do not confuse this emoticon with <3 , which the means heart.

Many people and smile :3 consider a kiss, but they are mistaken since it does not mean a kiss, but sweetness.

There was a period of time when this smiley was read from a mathematical point of view, and it meant nothing more than divide by 3... But this is a comic version that did not take root among Internet users for a long time.
