Which speakers are better to buy for a laptop. How to choose the right computer speakers? The best speakers for gaming PCs

Compact, no doubt Bluetooth earphone are becoming more and more popular. However, both when watching movies and playing computer games, nothing can replace the good old desktop speakers. Headphones can never reproduce that depth and richness of sound the way good, quality speakers do.

Below you will find a quick guide to choosing a desktop speaker, as well as an overview of the very best speakers of 2016.

How much to spend on speakers?

Small speakers for a computer (system 2.0) can be bought for 700 rubles. Keep in mind, however, that these speakers won't let you enjoy the sound quality and won't party with them. More or less decent speakers cost about 2,000 rubles.

There is probably no more subjective assessment than the feeling of sound quality, but even appearance speakers can tell you a lot. Cheap speakers are housed in a lightweight, plastic case that vibrates when you turn up the volume. This has a very negative effect on the sound quality.

If you are ready to spend about 15,000 rubles on speakers, pay attention to the speakers in a wooden case. The speakers can also have their own amplifier, which provides sound quality and volume.

If you want to purchase a system for 20 thousand rubles or more, then this is already the territory of audiophiles. Do a little research before buying - look or read reviews on the internet, ask sellers. Here we are dealing with Hi-Fi sound quality. Listen different systems and make a choice based on your own feelings.

Which connector should you choose?

One important point to keep in mind is that stereo speakers, by definition, cannot be portable. They sit permanently on a table or shelf and most of them have a 3.5mm audio jack. Some stereo speakers have Bluetooth as additional option and they can be used together with a smartphone or tablet. But the sound quality is always better with a cable connection. Yes, Bluetooth AptX technology allows you to receive high quality soundbut the cable connection still has advantages. High-tech systems offer Wi-Fi connectivity and sound quality is high.

Some speakers have a USB connector. This can be useful if the speakers are small. In this case, power is also provided via USB.

System 2.0 or 2.1?

System 2.1 (2 speakers + subwoofer) requires more space. The advantage of the system is that the speakers reproduce normal and high sounds, the subwoofer gives deep, juicy bass.

If you need a loud system with good sounding, for example, for computer games, then look at 2.1 systems. However, if you spend the same money on a 2.1 system, the sound quality at the output will be better, the sound itself will be cleaner and more detailed. In 2.1 systems, the bass is often exaggerated. It should also be borne in mind that some 2.0 speakers have an additional output for a subwoofer, which makes it possible to upgrade the system.

Below is a list of the best speakers for your computer.

1. Logitech Z200: the best budget speakers

Features: 2.0 system; 3.5 mm cable; 3.5 mm input; 3.5mm headphone jack; dimensions: 241 x 90 x 124mm (each column)

The Logitech Z200 is a good budget speaker if you need to improve the sound of your laptop or tablet. They are compact enough to place on a table and large enough to produce good, high-quality sound for both music and movies.

Bluetooth is not here, the speakers are connected using an audio cable. There is an additional 3.5mm jack that can be used to connect a mobile device. Also, there is a headphone jack.

2. Creative Sound BlasterX Kratos S3: the best speakers for a computer, with a price below 7000 rubles

Features: system 2.1; 3.5mm analog input; 3.5mm headphone jack; dimensions: 155 x 95 x 110 mm (speakers), 250 x 180 x 218 mm (subwoofer)

This system won't give you hi-fi sound quality, but for the price, it probably best system 2.1. The subwoofer is relatively compact, yet produces deep bass in dance music and adds punch to PC games. The speakers do not cope a little when reproducing high sounds, but this does not diminish the advantages of the system.

3. AudioEngine A2 +: the best stereo speakers for under 20,000 rubles

Features: 2.0 stereo system; inputs: analog 3.5 mm, stereo RCA, USB; subwoofer output; dimensions: 152 x 102 x 135 mm

The compact A2 + speakers are designed for your desktop computer. Their dimensions are 155 mm in height and 100 mm in width - you can easily place them next to the monitor. The speakers are very high quality, made in a wooden case and have a good detailed sound. The sound power is 60 watts, which is quite good considering their average size.

There is no Blurtooth connectivity for these speakers. However, there are many other connectors available: analog 3.5, stereo RCA and USB. Also, it is possible to connect a subwoofer.

4. Kef Egg: the best miniature desktop speakers

Features: 2.0 stereo system; connectors: analog 3.5 mm, optical, USB; subwoofer output; Bluetooth AptX; dimensions: 274 x 136 x 172 mm

Kef's egg brand is not just about looks. Egg speakers stand out for their ability to spread sound around them. Music, as it were, fills the whole room. The speakers are not very loud, but the clarity and detail of the sound produced is truly impressive and justifies the high price tag of the system.

The speakers are equipped with 3.5 optical connectors for wired analog or digital connection. Also, there is Bluetooth for connecting mobile devices. There is uSB input, which supports high-res sound 24 bit / 96 Khz, which will not leave indifferent any miloman. The only downside to the system is that there is no audio cable included, so you'll have to buy your own.

5.Yamaha NX-N500: the best high-tech desktop speakers

Features: 2.0 stereo system; connectors: analog 3.5 mm, optical, USB; Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Apple AirPlay; dimensions: 285 x 170 x 222 mm

These high-tech speakers from Yamaha are expensive and heavy, but the sound output is very good quality... Power of 140 watts is really loud, but at the same time the sound is rich, full and quite detailed.

In addition to analog 3.5, digital optical and USB ports, the speakers are equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Apple AirPlay, which makes it easy to connect to your home network. Plus, there's the Yamaha MusicCast app that lets you add the NX-N500 to your multi-room music system.

Previously, we thought Audyssey Media Speakers was the absolute favorite among computer speakers, but the company has discontinued this model.

In addition, many new models have appeared recently, which means it's time to get acquainted with them. Therefore, we decided to collect the most promising computer speakers and conduct a "blind test".

To deal with these candidates, you first had to come up with some criteria to narrow down the scope of testing.

Choosing the best speakers for your computer

First of all, we decided to focus specifically on simple, 2-channel systems, because it makes no sense to directly compare systems with and without them.

All of these speakers have built-in amplifiers.

You can use regular speakers for a desktop computer or audio system.

Since the built-in amplifier in them minimizes the clutter on the desktop.

In this case, only the volume control and the line-in is required, which is connected either to the headphone output from a computer, smartphone, tablet, or to another audio source, for example, to a TV.

Some speakers are equipped with other connectors such as Toslink optical, USB digital audio, or a front 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Some of our samples boast additional features such as headphone output, subwoofer output or remote control remote control.

These speakers are quite versatile. They can be used not only as a desktop sound source from.

We decided that we would cover a certain price range, so we narrowed our search to models in the price range from $ 100 to $ 300.

There are countless inexpensive plastic computer speakers out there for $ 50 or less, but we've yet to hear a single sample that delivers even a little serious sound.

We found that the main criterion that most buyers are interested in is sound quality, so we focused on that.

But there are other factors that were also important for us - Bluetooth support, compact size, nice appearance.

M-Audio Studiophile AV 40

This is one of the most budget-friendly models tested, considering that we put forward the same requirements for sound quality and the characteristics that they offer to all candidates.

In our tests, no other sample came close to such a combination of sound quality and price as the M-Audio Studiophile AV 40.

With one possible exception, it has equal or exceeded the sound quality of any other speaker. At $ 119, this is one of the least expensive models.

Somewhat overstated bases, but an excellent balance of highs, mids and lows.

The speakers produced much more sound than one would expect from computer speakers.

I The speakers have a hybrid design designed for both studio and desktop use.

Of the connectors, we were pleased with the standard RCA and on the front panel for quick temporary connection of a phone or tablet.

The speakers also have 6.2 mm (¼ ”) balanced line level inputs on the rear panel for connection to a mixing console.

Who else caught our attention. A step towards minimalism

Audioengine A2 + Black

These speakers from Audioengine are three times smaller than the leader in our review, which means that they cannot, by definition, play as loud or deep.

Audioengine A2 + Black is more of an update to the original A2.

They are only 6 x 4 x 5.25 inches in size. They will look great on a small desktop.

Bass and treble sound at least as good as AB 40, maybe a little better.

After all, the A2 + has a 2.75-inch woofer.

However, you have the option to add, the speakers have line outputs.

Among the active subwoofers, you can pay attention to Audioengine on C8, but this will be a different review.

When sounding, you involuntarily pay attention to good, deep bass, wide range high frequencies.

These speakers are perfect for pop music lovers.

The basses, of course, are not enough. But I didn't really expect them from the 2.75-inch woofers.

The only moment when I did not have enough sound depth when I was sitting just a meter away from them, and the volume was turned to maximum.

I also found that the other members in our test easily played 3x6 decibels louder; A2 + just doesn't produce enough volume.

The sound is limited to 16-bit / 48-kHz, which is very frustrating.

Among the inputs, it is worth noting the standard for digital connection to a computer.

The A2 + also has a stereo RCA line-out jack for connecting an additional subwoofer.

The power switch / volume control is located on the back of the speakers. It seems that with this arrangement, the frontal part looks cleaner, but in terms of functionality it is inconvenient.

Still, if you're looking for compact, beautiful computer speakers that deliver great sound for their size, the Audioengine A2 + is definitely the right fit for you.

You can find a lot of reviews on this model, and most users are inclined to think that only the lack of impressive bass does not allow it to become an absolute leader.

Grace Digital GDI-BTSP201

The Grace Digital speakers have a somewhat metallic bass sound and an artificial treble sound, but they do have Bluetooth.

If you really want to enjoy the convenience of Bluetooth technology, such as streaming wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet or computer, this is your choice.

Our favorite for this review is the sample without, but we found a couple of very good systems that have it.

One of them is Grace Digital GDI-BTSP201.

At the time of writing this review, their price is $ 173.

These are beautifully designed bi-directional mini speakers.

Convenient controls are located at the top of the right column.

We were not very pleased with this "metallic sound".

Despite the sufficient volume reserve, the upper frequencies sounded artificial and hyped. I will add that the bass is a little lacking.

However, this digital system has a decent sound, great design and a fair price. On sale there are options in black, white and red.

Thanks to convenient control and the presence of Bluetooth, these speakers for a computer will surely find their audience.

Edifier spinnaker

Edifier Spinnaker has a pretty stylish design. They look like rhino horns. They sound great and boast Bluetooth.

Edifier Spinnaker is one of the most exotic designs among.

So, if you want to show your individuality, this is definitely your choice. (And for those who do not tolerate half measures, there is a limited edition in red.)

Luckily, they sound great and have cool and useful features.

In our review, this is the only system with a Toslink optical digital audio input (handy for use with TVs).

In addition, a wireless remote control is included with the device, which makes it possible to turn the device on and off, as well as adjust the volume. (Plus Bluetooth!)

The only inconvenience is that all the connections are on the bottom of the right speaker, which looks sleek but only fits very thin cables.

We've seen reviews where users didn't really like the treble sound.

According to the listeners, they sounded too soft.

But we liked them even more than the much-praised M-Audio AV 40. The speakers impress with their velvety sound.

In fact, the combination of sound and extraordinary design is exactly what original users are looking for.

As with most of the models on our list, the bass sounds weak, but this is more a design feature than a manufacturer's flaw.

Other models to look out for

Bose Companion 20we were not impressed; the sound was too dim, and we decided to stop testing this instance so as not to be even more disappointed.

Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II did not live up to expectations at all.

Before that, we read a lot of reviews about them on the Internet, but according to the results of a blind test, we liked them the least. They lack bases, they distort the sound.

Edifier Eclipse look super cool and are sold at a reasonable price, but like almost all representatives of this price category, the bass is weak.

In addition, real interference can be heard with a sharp burst of high frequencies. This is one of three models that we removed from the comparison before it even made it to the listening panel.

Emotivas Airmotiv4 was one of the favorites in our latest ranking of computer speakers.

At the time of this testing in free sale Emotivas Airmotiv4 we could not find them. We didn't want to take risks and recommend what we haven't heard yet.

But, based on the experience of the previous series, this is a worthy specimen. They also cost $ 350, which knocks them out of our price range a little.

Firstly, the cord connecting the two speakers is too fragile. The connector is similar to the hated s-video connector, but with even tinier pins.

The first time I disconnected it and accidentally bent one of the contacts. I tried to straighten it with pliers but couldn't get it to work.

We took another sample, we managed to connect it, and we found out that it always stopped in the mode bluetooth pairing... They look great, but they need some work.

NuForce S3 BT very similar in design to Grace Digital GDI- Btsp201 , but in terms of sound they did not impress us at all, as they gave out too narrowed frequency ranges.

Logitechs Z600 took the last place in our rating. We checked: the bass is wheezing, the shrill sound of mid and high frequencies will amaze even a not very sophisticated listener. But they look really cool.

PSBs Alpha PS1 will find its fans among true music lovers. We ran a blind test and found that this sample fell just slightly short of the M-Audio AV 40 and Audioengine A2 +. The only thing that struck us unpleasantly was the price of $ 299. Given the reputation of this manufacturer, I thought we might have missed something, or the test sample might not have been finalized.

So I did another test in which I compared the Alpha PS1 and the M-Audio AV 40. My preferences varied depending on the music I heard, but I settled on speaker # 1, which lacked a bit of bass and was not quite smooth. showed itself triple the size, but the undeniable mids and smooth highs just won me over. To be honest, I assumed the # 1 speakers would be the Alpha PS1, but it turns out to be the M-Audio AV 40.

How we tested

  • We left each of the systems on for 10 hours. During this time, if there were any technical errors, they would certainly appear.
  • Then we divided them into groups, then I got the first favorites. There were three of them.
  • Then we installed all the samples in series on 32-inch and 28-inch high MDF racks, positioning them so that the front speakers retreated 15 cm from the wall.
  • All speakers were connected via line inputs, which allowed me to match the volume level for all speakers.
  • We've turned on the pink noise of the iPod touch test tone
  • I measured and compared the sound pressure level of each speaker from about the height of the seated listener's head using the NTI Minilyzer audio analyzer and the NTI MiniSPL test microphone.
  • For each testing session, my assistants changed the order of connecting the speakers. On one occasion, I was able to connect my computer directly to the speakers via USB.

All measurements were made in the laboratory (except Harman kardon Nova which I couldn't get it to work). As you can see in the graph above (which shows only five samples, among all candidates), there is a lot of data to compare.

What to wait

While we were writing this review, it became known that to replace the M-Audio AV 40, the manufacturer plans to release the M-Audio AV 42. So far, we cannot recommend the AV 40, since muddy bass overpowers and overshadows all other sounds.

At the moment, we still believe that Audioengine A2 + and Grace Digital GDI-BTSP201 Is the best choice, although we understand that many may be scared off by unnecessary features, or they may cost too much for some readers.

Summing up

It was not an easy decision, the M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 sounded great and were inexpensive. But we tried to put them on our elegant writing table, and realized that there are many music lovers who would refuse to put them on their own. Therefore, we are ready

  • Audioengine A2 +
  • Grace Digital GDI-BTSP201
  • Edifier spinnaker

They have everything the modern consumer needs: stylish modern designs, a handy wireless remote control, Bluetooth and pretty good sound.

This problem could be solved in two ways - to improve the built-in speakers or to enable the consumer to connect external acoustics devices. On the market you can find kits with two speakers or more modern systems with a subwoofer. The topic of today's article is the best computer acoustics.

Overview of manufacturing companies

All of these companies are leaders in the production of acoustic computer devices.

Creative

The Singapore-based company Creative Technology has been operating since 1981. It is not the largest enterprise, however, the equipment produced on it is known all over the world.

Acoustics from Creative Technology have a decent volume margin and good sound quality. Among the company's products there are TOP models with high cost and budget modifications.

Important! In addition to acoustic systems, the company is engaged in the production of sound cards.

Edifier

This Chinese company was founded in 1996. The company produces acoustics for laptop and desktop computers. Interestingly, Edifier does not produce budget models, but the product quality is the highest.

Feature of products from Logitech - compact size, so it can be used with a laptop. The price tag of the products is quite high, but the sound is very good.

Microlab

Perhaps the richest assortment of speakers for a computer is produced under this trademark. The peculiarity of the products of this brand is the original design with a yellow speaker. There is also traditional acoustics with basic list functions.

Sven

This Finnish company entered the market in 1991. It is interesting that from the very beginning the company was based in Russia (Bryansk). Today the main office of the company is located in Kotka (Finland). The lion's share of Sven's products is budget acoustics. But there are also expensive models with a subwoofer and the ability to reproduce information from an external medium. In this case, you don't need a computer to listen to music!

Important! Once you decide on a speaker model, you will need other accessories, as well as connection instructions. They are already ready on our website:

Almost every music lover had a problem, how to choose good speakers for home, so that they are inexpensive and sound cool? Of course, those who are not particularly interested in this issue make their choice in favor of plastic standard "buzzer". However, true connoisseurs of high-quality sound have to deal with the choice of the most suitable for the speaker, among the large number of expensive speaker systems that are presented in modern stores. Let's take a closer look at some of the points that deserve special attention. I myself am the owner - Microlab SOLO-6C, but they are not as powerful as in characteristics, but many of them will be with their heads, so you need to carefully approach the choice if you decide to spend from 1000 to 5000 rubles.

If you have little time or just want to make a cool gift to a dear person, first watch this video below.

Speakers for the computer

Speakers for a computer have some differences from ordinary ones:

  • smaller size
  • sound card compatibility
  • isolated magnetic field
  • matching connectors

Perfect sound

Please note that it is impractical to buy expensive multimedia speakers if they will be connected to an ordinary sound card. You will not be able to get perfectly clean sound. If you want the sound to be as close to ideal as possible, it is better to buy a speaker system, since professional reproduction is not the main function of a computer. Therefore, the problem can be easily solved by purchasing a good sound card.

Classification

Made of plastic is not the best option. Of course, they can have an original and interesting design, as well as have an attractive price, but they acoustic performance will tend to zero. A more correct decision would be to buy speakers from fiberboard / particleboard. Please note that there should not be any extra holes on the case, they should be completely sealed. The only allowed hole may be the bass reflex.

Power, frequency and sensitivity

These parameters are very important. Power has an impact not only on playback volume, but also on the reliability of the entire speaker system. The sound volume depends on the sensitivity, the optimal value is 85 dB. They must necessarily have an output signal regulator. When choosing speakers, check the quality of the volume by gradually increasing it. This will help you determine when the sound begins to distort.

Useful "gadgets"

Modern speakers can be equipped with some additional "gadgets", for example:

  1. external panel output for headphones
  2. remote control
  3. rack

They are completely optional, but their presence is an additional advantage.

Sound Card Compatible

One of the most important points, which is often overlooked by many, is the compatibility with the sound card. Even the most expensive and fashionable sound card will not be able to provide good sound if it connects low-quality speakers. Conversely, expensive speakers will be completely useless, along with a simple sound card.

Speakers for notebook

It should be noted that nowadays more and more people give their preference to laptops. They are very convenient and practical to use due to their mobility and small size. It is easily transported and can work for a certain period of time in offline... However, despite these advantages, there are some disadvantages, one of which is the sound quality of the built-in speakers.

Tips for choosing

Most laptops are equipped with two built-in speakers, the output power of which is rather low. Often, while watching movies or listening to musical compositions, a low-quality and low-quality sound comes out. In addition, the speakers periodically begin to wheeze, because they are unable to produce the required power level. But this is not a problem at all, everything can be fixed by connecting additional speakers, which are created specifically for laptops. They can be powered from the network or from the USB input. Thanks to the second option, it becomes possible to take the device on the road. Mobility is also ensured by their small overall dimensions.

Home theater speaker system

The choice of acoustics is a rather complicated and responsible process, so it is very important to pay attention to some points. First of all, it is power, since not enough power will be reflected in the sound volume. It should be noted that the power at the amplifier output should not be higher than the power of the acoustics itself, otherwise it will negatively affect the functioning of the speakers.

The sound volume can be determined by the sensitivity of the speaker system. Choosing a system with high level sensitivity, you don't have to worry about the power of the amplifier. Conversely, with a powerful amplifier, you should not focus on sensitivity. Remember, a powerful amplifier will harm high sensitivity speakers.

Frequency range - this parameter is an indicator of the reliability of the reproduced signal in the range of specified frequencies. A person hears sounds with a frequency of 20 Hz - 20 kHz. To make the reproduction more accurate and clear, acustic systems are designed so that they can reproduce sounds inaudible to humans.

Acoustic systems can be divided into:

  • floor
  • satellites
  • shelf
  • embedded

Decide which view will be more convenient for you. Let's say floor systems are large enough dimensionsmoreover, they are not designed for small spaces at all. Satellites, in turn, can be distributed throughout the room, which will create the effect of presence.

The material from which the speaker system is made is of no small importance. The most popular are plastic, aluminum, wood and glass. When choosing acoustics, listen to its sound to understand which one you like best.
