What to do if the settings on the router are reset (accidentally pressed reset)? How to reconnect a mobile bank

On the computer, after each reinstallation of OS Windows 7, you have to reinstall all programs, drivers and connect peripherals... But in the century unlimited internet, a person cannot imagine his existence without him. Therefore, the problem of connecting the world network after reinstalling operating system, always remains relevant.

Internet connection via routers

Owners of routers (routers) are more fortunate, since all settings are stored directly on a separate device, so reinstallation is not scary, and you just need to make sure that correct setting networks between the PC and the router. On Windows 7, this can be checked in Network Sharing Center and general access (Start - Control Panel - Network and Internet - Network and Sharing Center). Further, in the left menu, click on the link "Changing adapter parameters"

and check that the item "connect via local network", For the main network adapter:

Check main name network card can be in the device manager. The easiest way to find it is to hold down the WIN + Pause key combination (the combination is supported in all OS versions, Including Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1).

and in the device tree you need to find the sub-item " Network adapters". A list of all network cards (including virtual ones) installed in the computer will drop down here.

Another question is when there is not a single network card here, but there are unknown devices - install drivers for your network equipment.

If this does not help, check that you set the appropriate software... In the worst case, the network card does not work and needs to be replaced.

When network connection will be established with the router - the Internet connection is activated automatically.

Direct internet connection using Windows 7 as an example

If you do not look at the fact that now most of the providers provide Internet services without using a login and password (binding by MAC address is used and you just need to insert the cable into the PC), we will consider in more detail how to configure and connect a computer to the Internet using a login and password (PPPoE protocol).

First you need to check how the network card works (checking network connection). Next, go to: "Start - Control Panel - Network and Sharing Center".

Here we select an item according to the picture:

In the next step, select "High Speed \u200b\u200b(with PPPoE)":

After choosing the type of connection, a window will appear with the fields that you need to fill in accordingly and click the "Connect" button:

After filling in all the fields, the computer will try to connect using the previously entered data:

If no mistakes were made at the setup stage, you will be able to connect your Windows 7 computer to the world network right away. If, after all the actions, the Internet does not work, you need to delete the created connection and repeat the process again.

Another way to set up direct connection on Windows 7

Some providers for load balancing between servers work using another parameter called "Service Name". It improves connection stability, but adds hassle to casual users.

Hello friends! Very often, when replying to comments on this site, I have to explain how to remove a wireless network connection on a laptop (netbook), or on a computer with Wi-Fi adapter... And then reconnect to the wireless network by entering the password to access it.

Why do I need to remove the Wi-Fi network and reconnect to it? Very often, such a procedure is necessary if you changed the password on the Wi-Fi router, or changed the type of security or encryption. I wrote about how to change the password on the router in the article.

Just after you change the password or the type of security (encryption), the computer will most likely refuse to connect to Wi-Fi. It may just take a long time to connect, and then some kind of error appears. The error “Windows could not connect to ...” may appear (by the way, I wrote about this problem). The identification problem and all sorts of other errors are also possible. If you have problems connecting to Wi-Fi, I advise you to delete the connection and reconnect. Now I'll tell you how to do this in Windows 7.

Go to Control Panel \\ Network and Internet \\ Wireless Network Management... You can do this: press right click mouse on the connection status in the notification bar and select "Network and Sharing Center".

Right-click on the desired network and click on the item Delete network.

Everything, the network is removed. You can reconnect and enter a password (possibly a new one).

Click on the connection status in the tray. And among the networks available for connections, click on your network. Click on Connection.

Enter your password and click Ok.

Everything should connect and I hope it works fine :).

Plug the internet cable into wAN port (or Internet) of your router (aka router).

Connect the router to the computer: insert one end of the network cable into any of the LAN ports of the router, and the other into the connector of the PC network card. You can use a wireless connection instead of a cable, but it is best not to do this during the setup phase.

Plug your router into a power outlet. If your device has a power button, press it. Then wait a minute or two for the router to boot up.

2. Check the Internet

If your router was pre-configured by your ISP or received settings in automatic mode, then the Internet can work in a few seconds after connecting the router to the PC.

To check, launch your browser and try opening several sites. If there are no problems with access to web resources, you can skip the fourth paragraph of the article.

AT address bar browser enter 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 and press Enter. One of these IP addresses should lead to the router's settings menu. If both options do not work, find the required IP address in the documentation for your router model and try to enter it.

When the page for entering the settings appears in the browser window, the system may request a username and password. Most often, during the initial connection, one word is suitable for both fields - admin... Less commonly, router manufacturers use the combination 1234 .

If necessary, you can find the login information in the instructions for the router or on the provider's website. Well, or try an alternative.

4. Set up your internet connection

If the Internet still hasn't worked, the router needs special settings. Which parameters you need depends on specific model device and internet service provider. There is no universal configuration. To get the necessary instructions, check the provider's website or request it from the support service.

Once you've obtained a guide to set up your model, follow its prompts. If in the process you set up both an Internet connection and a home Wi-Fi network, you can skip the fifth paragraph of the article.

For Wi-Fi, it is important to choose correct parameters security.

In the settings menu, find the section responsible for wireless network (see the documentation for your router model). Here, be sure to set a strong password (you will need it to connect your devices to the router via Wi-Fi) and select WPA2-PSK as a means of protection.

6. Change the password to enter the router settings

Just in case, it's best to restrict outsiders' access to the router's settings menu. If the router is still protected by the default password, replace it with your own.

Find the settings section that is responsible for security (see the documentation for your router model) of the device, and enter a new strong password here. Save your changes.

If your computer has wi-Fi module, after completing the setup network cable can be pulled out of the PC and connected to the router wirelessly.

7. Install the router in an optimal location

Ideally, the router is in the center of the area where you are using Wi-Fi. Thus, the signal will be equally available to all connected devices.

The fewer walls, furniture, and other obstructions between the receiving device and the router, the better the wireless network will perform.

A router is a very interesting and unpredictable device. Either Wi-Fi disappears all the time, then the Internet is cut off, or in general the settings fly off. In this article, we will try to deal with the problem when the settings on the router are suddenly reset to factory defaults. Yes, as practice shows, this happens. Or, there are still cases when users themselves accidentally press the reset button to return the settings to the factory settings. True, accidentally pressing this button is difficult, it is almost always recessed into the router case. But, there are models when reset is put on one button with activation of the WPS function - I already think this is wrong.

The ability to restore factory settings is a very useful thing. If something is incorrectly configured, or the router works as it should, then reset very often helps.

Anyway, if your router's settings are reset, you will have to configure it again ... Go to the control panel, set parameters for connecting to a provider, configure Wi-Fi, etc. It's not difficult, we have a lot of instructions on the website for different manufacturers... Move the mouse over the item Setting up a router at top menu, select your manufacturer and see instructions. If not specifically for your model, then the main thing is to find instructions for your manufacturer. Since the control panel is on different models identical manufacturers are usually the same.

How do I know if my router has reset? Most likely, you will understand this by the absence of your Wi-Fi network. It will be, but it will be with the standard name (if your network name has been changed)... If you have a lot of Wi-Fi networks, then in general you might think that the router is not working, since you will hardly see your network with a standard name right away.

Why can the router itself return the settings to the factory settings? Some system failure, maybe something with power supply, etc. If this happens very often, then you need to carry the router for repair, either under warranty, or buy a new one.

Well, look carefully, don't press the reset button. Configuring a router again is not always easy. Write in the comments, I will try to help with advice.
