Mts, all

Record-breakingly short headline turned out. Thank you for not “Vsetische”, but more on that below. The option itself for fans of social networks looks interesting and I liked it. Works on all (or almost all) current tariffs, billing - 4 rubles. per day. Quote from the press release:

“The 'Online' option is designed for those who are used to communicating a lot on social networks, sending not only text messages in instant messengers, but exchanging video files, as well as short audio recordings. Users of the option to get unlimited access to social networks VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, instant messengers WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, Snapchat, FB Messenger, Tam Tam, MTS Connect. Also, the list of unlimited services includes the OK Live online broadcasting application and the Twitch website, which specializes in live broadcasts of computer games.

All traffic to the listed resources, which users of the "Networks" option will download or send from their smartphone, tablet or laptop, will be free and will not spend the Internet included in the package on any of the MTS tariffs.

Unlimited separately for social networks is quite in line with modern trends of abandoning conditionally full unlimiteds. The very idea of a separate option seems right to me: there is no need to rush between different tariffs, calculating your needs, profile and other parameters. Additional 120 rubles. per month for "everything about everything" social at any tariff look simple and clear. From mid-June, the "Online" option is already free for new connections and upgrades to "Smart+" and "Smart Unlimited" tariffs.

Features of the "Online"

As you can see, the list contains almost a complete set of social networks and instant messengers. There is no Telegram, but Instagram is present, demonstrating a record high traffic growth rate for the last year and a half, you can read our review of statistics on various social networks.

Slightly intricately outlined the description of tariff restrictions. traffic in text<...>will be free and will not spend the Internet included in the package on any of the MTS tariffs. In the headline of the press release, “Unlimited access to popular sites and applications is opened by the “Networks” option, which can be connected at any of the current tariffs. Those. not at any tariff, but only at the current ones. And, finally, in the description of the option, the line: The option is disabled when switching to a tariff for which it is not available. Since you can only switch to the current tariff, it is logical to assume that the option is not available for all of the current tariffs. Find out by the method of scientific poke?

They write that for correct billing, use only official applications or mobile versions of sites for messaging, watching videos or watching video broadcasts.

The option does not work on all browsers that use traffic compression (for example, Opera). Traffic is also charged separately when following links to YouTube and other resources. Application updates, service traffic, etc. are also separate, so it’s useless to hope to get by with just sitting on a social network / messenger as part of the option.

The question of interaction with the BIT option remains open. On the one hand, this is not a tariff, but an option, on the other hand, all tariffs and options incompatible with it are listed in the description of the BIT, but “VNet” is not in this list.

About tariff changes

It seems that a whole garland of changes in the tariffs of the Smart line has been announced. Since July 17 they have been sent to the Smart Top archive, news. Quote from the announcement of the new version of Smart Top:

“... will allow MTS subscribers to use the Internet even more freely, communicate unlimitedly within the network and make long-distance calls on favorable terms.<...>The monthly fee and the content of the packages of the closed tariff will not change.”

Cheap intercity? I would suggest adding a free version of the "Online" option, as is done in "Smart+" and "Smart Unlimited", but let's not guess, we'll see.

Similar news about the Ultra tariff. They also promise to give us more freedom to use the Internet without changing the subscription fee.

More interesting with the Smart + tariff, news. It is not sent to the archive, but since July 18 some new “large packages of Internet traffic when traveling abroad” have been added, perhaps changing something else in international roaming. If only they would add a free “Zero Without Borders”, like on expensive corporate rates! But this is unlikely. They also promise not to change the price parameters and the content of the packages. The link in the news still leads to a general page with tariffs, but on July 18, 2017, we will definitely find out all the details. Judging by the name change, the updated fare is going to be positioned as a special offer for travelers.

About "merciless naming"

Having recently read about the “MTSishche flag” on the official twitter of the company, at first I thought that it was not just grass, but herbs. There is also some kind of “Blet” ... Today I look at the new name of the “Smart Zabugorishche” tariff and understand that all this is very serious, within the framework of some new concept of communication with the consumer. We tried it on the name "Unlimited", liked it, and decided to continue. So to say, to convey positioning to the client in a simple and understandable language.

In this case, the scope for creativity is simply limitless. That's why not combine all tariffs without a monthly fee into a common line with the name "Rogue"? It is logical and corresponds to the position of the operators. Everyone, by the way. With other tariffs, the practical meaning is also obvious: for example, how many visitors realize that the tariff called “Your Country” was created at MTS specifically for migrants? And call the tariff "Migrantist", and immediately everything is clear. Well, let's hope that MTS does not plan a new tariff specifically for "apple" smartphones.

Network antivirus

MTS promises to protect our smartphones and not only smartphones from any Internet evil for only 2 rubles a day, you can read the news. Quote from description:

“The service is ready to work immediately after connection and starts operating from the very beginning of the Internet session, no settings need to be made on the device.

When Internet sessions are established, traffic is scanned for the presence of the following threats: viruses, Trojans, spyware and other potentially dangerous and unwanted programs, macro viruses, viruses for smartphones and other malware.

The Anti-Virus service is a network service, i.e. connects to the subscriber's phone number, does not depend on the OS of the device used or the OS firmware version. No app download required."

The service is interesting because it does not require the user to do anything with the smartphone; to connect, just dial the command *111*1118*1#. And the installation of any inhibitory antiviruses also does not require. Plus, replacing a smartphone or upgrading its software does not affect the performance of the service in any way, the service is constantly connected to the phone number. The downside is that a previously picked up Trojan will not go anywhere. If you decide to connect and there are some suspicions, then it is better to check with an antivirus first.

As for the expediency of using such a paid service, the issue is moot. There is an opinion that common sense and accuracy are enough for “protection”, antivirus is an extra prank. In many ways, this is true, but it is the smartphone that is a special case. Webmasters of many sites sell mobile traffic "to the left", redirecting browsers to infected sites, and the likelihood of picking up some kind of nastiness when connecting via a cellular network is much higher. By the way, such an antivirus does not protect against subscriptions, do not forget about the "Content ban" service. Fortunately, it is in MTS that this "Prohibition" works well for all types of content.
