Meizu ep 51 wireless headphones. Meizu EP51 wireless headset review. Appearance and usability

The Chinese company Meizu managed to light up in the world of audiophiles thanks to its smartphones with high-quality DACs and amplifiers. Many people liked the HD50 on-ear headphones, which, unfortunately, have not yet been in our editorial office (we will try to fix this). Now we have Meizu EP51 sports wireless in-ear headphones - they are inexpensive, but very interesting.

Contents of delivery

The supply from Meizu EP51 is quite nothing - a beautiful box, inside which the headphones themselves, a case, a cable and ear pads.

Design

The headphones look quite stylish and original. The red cable accentuates the sportiness, while the black and silver bowls complement it. There are no exquisite design elements, just like materials - solid plastic and only magnetic rings on the bowls. Matte rubber cable, can cling to clothing. Due to the unusual shape of the ear cushions, the headphones protrude slightly from the ears.

Ergonomics

At first, the Meizu EP51 seemed to me uncomfortable and not at all ergonomic. This is due to the unusual ear pads and the shape of the headphones themselves. After some time, I got used to it and realized that the model sits quite well in my ears and you can do any kind of sports in it. It's just that the ear pads need to be inserted into the ears not deeply, which is not entirely customary for those people who use classic in-ear headphones.

In-ear mounts do their job quite well and hold the cups well, while not causing any discomfort at all, but you also have to get used to them first.

The earbuds are IPX4 protected, allowing you to run in the rain, but
do not immerse them in water. There are magnets on the bowls, which is a very convenient solution (for example, when you need to do a bench press).

Management, connection

The headphones have three buttons located on the remote control - on / off and volume control. You can switch tracks, answer calls, pause, etc. The remote also has Micro USB for charging. Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR with aptX codec and support for displaying the battery charge on a smartphone is responsible for the wireless connection.

Sound

I for a long time went with excellent sports jabra headphones Sport Pulse, which sound probably close to the ideal in their class. Of course, after the "Gills" it was hard to change to Meizu - the sound is many times worse. But for $ 40, this is a very good option in the world. wireless headphone for Sport.

The sound will appeal to bass lovers, it rules everything here. Gorgeous scene, beautiful medium and high frequencies not to see, but in general, I repeat once again, the picture is quite suitable for sports. Soundproofing at C grade - in a noisy environment, you have to turn the volume down. The quality of the microphone is just quiet horror, it seems that it collects all the noises initially, and only then the voice.

Autonomy

The manufacturer claims that the Meizu EP51 lasts about 6 hours of listening to music. When measuring, approximately the same figures came out, maybe even more, which is a standard indicator for headphones with such a compact size. Charging takes place using the supplied Micro USB cable and lasts up to an hour.

Site evaluation

Pros: Price, ergonomics (albeit it takes some getting used to), design, magnets on the cups

Minuses: Microphone, not the most perfect sound isolation

Output: Meizu has a typical product for the company - cheap and cheerful. Yes, there are several drawbacks, but they are not so critical as to call the headphones bad. The model for its money provides the user with not the worst sound, comfortable construction and bright design. In its class, it is clearly worth paying attention to the Meizu EP51.

Previously, the Bluetooth headset market was not characterized by an abundance of available solutions, so many users did not even take into account such accessories when choosing headphones. But recently, fierce competition has led to a decrease in price limits and the release of really inexpensive devices. The Meizu EP51 headset became a kind of catalyst on this path, because of which eminent audio brands should reconsider their pricing policy.

Set

The accessory comes in a very convenient package and a rather rich set. In addition to the headset itself, set of interchangeable ear pads (there are three pairs), USB-cable for recharging and a compact hard case in black. The latter has a pleasant-to-touch soft-touch coating and a small pocket inside, opened with a simple zipper.

Such a "chest" is very reliable and perfect for carrying a gadget in a bag or pocket. Even under load, it will not bend or sell out.

The convenience of use

Meizu EP51 is positioned as a sports headset, which “screams” about and contrasting color design, however for running, for example, it is unlikely to suit you.

The set includes whole line ear pads of various sizes, but with none of them a secure fit in the ear was not felt. There was always a feeling that they were about to slip out.

Once again, I note that the problem is relevant only with high activity, and with everyday use and ordinary walking it is not so critical.

The wire connecting the headphones also adds some discomfort. It seems sturdy enough, but its thickness and lack of a rigid base, which is usually found in similar headsets, causes constant bending when worn. That is, at normal use behind your neck you can wriggle a kind of red "snake" - the wire simply does not lie.

The assembly of the "ears" themselves is excellent. On their inner side, magnets are hidden under the name of the company, with the help of which the headset, when not in use, can be conveniently worn around the neck like a simple chain.

The wire at the outlet of the plugs is framed with an additional elastic band in order to reduce the effect of constant bends and simply to strengthen this traditionally weak point. Ambushura have a small loop, in theory, improves fixation in the auricle. They are easy to put on and sit securely at the same time. The R and L labels will not confuse their purpose.

On the wire on the right, there is a miniature control panel with an LED diode, a microphone, a USB connector for recharging and three buttons: "+" and "-" for volume control by pressing and switching tracks by holding, as well as a central depressed key for start / pause and receive incoming call.

It is not very convenient to use the buttons, since they have minimal feedback, and it is not always possible to understand by touch what you will press now. Fortunately, when you turn it on and off, there is a sound signal that will definitely not allow you to make a mistake. Here is another nuance - the buttons are disabled when the smartphone screen is active. You will have to switch tracks in the player.

It is also worth noting the presence of IPX4 protection, which makes the headphones resistant to dripping. That is, they are not afraid of sweat, rain or some kind of spray, but you can't swim with them.

Sound

Including the price of headphones high Quality there is no need to wait for the sound. there is pronounced bass - the low frequencies are well worked out, but the middle ones leave much to be desired, there is clearly not enough detail. The situation is similar with the upper ones. You can twist all this a little in the built-in equalizer in some players.

In general, the sound is tolerable, do not forget that it seems to be sports headphonesthat rarely sound perfect. Meizu EP51s are good for music with an emphasis on vocals and modern pop compositions, but if you like something heavier, then do not count on much with them.

Sound insulation as such is practically absent, the outside world will not hide from you, which will also be a big disadvantage for many. As for the quality of signal reception, there were practically no distortions and "gaps". Stable communication with a smartphone is provided within a radius of up to 8-10 meters.

Voice communication

When incoming call just press the center button or activate the call reception on your smartphone. The microphone is quite high quality, so the interlocutor will hear you clearly, as you will hear him. The main thing during communication is that the control panel is under the ear, and not closer to the back of the head.

Autonomy

In respect of autonomous work the headset pleasantly surprised 6 hours of music playback Is a good indicator. Using it on the way to and from work, recharging is required every three to four days. It takes about an hour and a half to replenish a full charge.

Conclusion

The main disadvantage of Meizu EP51 for me was the unreliability of the attachment in the ear. Of course, all this is individual, maybe it's not about "skis" at all, but about me, but colleagues from the editorial office, who got to know the headset better, also noted the unreliability of fixation. That is why you don't want to take them for a run. Freedom from wires is cool, but the constant feeling of "damn it, it falls out again" spoils everything.

One way or another, given the relatively low price of 2,990 rubles, the accessory can be considered successful - not sporty, but still practical. For this money for everyday life and you probably won't find anything better than simple walking tours.

Contents of delivery

The headset comes in a small cardboard box with shades of red, black and gray, emphasizing the sporty focus of the device. On the front side of the box you can see the "ears" and their names. On the reverse side under transparent screen it's easy to see the EP51 live, just below - the main features and specifications. Since we have a non-commercial version, all the inscriptions, alas, are only in Chinese.

After we remove the outer packaging, there will be a black and red box inside. On the upper left, under the plastic cover, there are nozzles of different sizes (S, L and XL). A small nuance: the ear pads are not signed in any way, so it is easy to confuse them with each other - by eye they are about the same size.

Above right - a headset, a little lower - a black case, very pleasant to the touch (something like a soft-touch coating). There is a zipper and a rubber tongue with a white M on a light blue background. Inside the case are instructions (in English and chinese) and USB cable for charging the device.

Introduction

As far as I know, the headset was officially presented in Russia on May 25, 2016 at the presentation of devices by Meizu. There were also HD50 headphones, which we reviewed not so long ago.

"Ears" made a good impression, for their money the offer is just excellent.

As for the EP51, it has two main features: compact dimensions and low price. Since there is no official price yet, it can be assumed that the EP51 will cost potential buyers 3,000 - 4,000 rubles. Since I am a pessimist, the cost is around 4,000 rubles.

Unfortunately, the Russian representative office does not yet have a separate page with information about the Meizu EP51, so we will focus on the Chinese site Meizu.com.

Appearance, materials

We have seen a similar design (wire and plugs) more than once: Sony XBA-BT75, Jabra Rox Wireless, Powerbeats2 Wireless, etc. That is, in this case, there is nothing original here, moreover, the EP51 strongly resemble (in color) the ears from the American manufacturer Beats, only they are several times cheaper.

The Meizu EP51 headset consists of four components: cable, control unit, headphone housing and ear pads. The wire is made of rubberized material, which is quite slippery to the touch. This is done so that the wire does not get tangled. The material is durable: several times I unsuccessfully touched the cable with my hand, and the headset flew out of my ears. Kinks or usual bends to the wire are not terrible, it is quite elastic.

The control unit is made of plastic. On the one hand, it is painted in light gray, and on the other, it is covered with a rubberized material. The cable and the block smoothly merge into each other and are tightly articulated with each other. The block has following items: microphone, volume control buttons (marked with convex "+" and "-"), concave play button and indicator of device operation. Frankly speaking, the buttons are inconvenient to use, as they are hardly felt by the fingers and are extremely tight when pressed. Especially annoying were the moments when it was necessary to quickly turn down the volume: you think that you press the "-", but in fact - a little lower, and the button does not work. Of course, this is all nagging and taste, but it is worth paying attention to this.

The headphone case is made of semi-gloss black plastic, the outer side is metal, matte. In the center there is a radially ground circle that plays nicely in the light. In addition, it is worth noting the magnetic holder: if you touch the outer sides of the "ears", they will become magnetised. This is necessary so that the headset does not fall off the neck at a time when it is not in use. It's not new, but cool anyway. The cable and the headphone housing are attached through additional protection in the form of a rubber hose-seal.

The ear pads are silicone and are officially available in three sizes. Keep in mind, however, that the ear cushions are already on the headphones, so there are four sizes.

I tried to use all the attachments, but no matter how I shuffled them, nothing good came out. The headset did not fit well in my auricles: the left plug was constantly falling out, then the right one. Rather, they did not fall out, but did not hold tightly, the sound became less bright and juicy, the bass disappeared, and the sound insulation was broken.

Total for ease of use. Personally, this headset did not fit me, because absolutely all the ear pads were not tightly held in my auricle, and the sound became flat. For the same reason, I didn't like the HD50. There, the size of the bow was clearly made for an elephant: from my head they slid almost onto the cheekbones.

Sound quality

I honestly tried to use the Meizu EP51 headset for several weeks. Why did you try? Since I mentioned above that in the auricle, it did not hold to me. Often it was necessary to put in harder, press or even hold with your hand. In general, I did not get much pleasure from testing (I already read in the comments "look what you are, he still has pleasure, go work as a loader! ..")

The sound is shifted to low frequencies, and not buzzing, but velvet and warm. For bass lovers, the EP51 is just right. However, this is where the pros generally end. The middle frequencies are not worked out in the best way, listening to solo performances is not very interesting. It's also a problem with tall ones - there are practically none.

The EP51 uses aptX audio codec and a separate CSR8645 chip from CSR.

However, the positioning of the headset is quite understandable - sports headphones, therefore, as I understand it, at the time of training, the sound quality is secondary, the main thing is that they cheer up with rhythmic music and do not fly off the head. The EP51 does both one hundred percent. Separately, it should be noted that the Meizu headset is protected from moisture, to be more precise - from sweat. Once I got caught in a heavy downpour, forgot to take off my "ears". It's already the second week, and everything is fine with the EP51. But I do not recommend experimenting.

Working hours

Despite such a tiny size, Meizu EP51 works for about 6-7 hours at medium volume. They were enough for me for 2-3 days, that is, I listened to music for about 2-3 hours a day. In standby mode (connected via Bluetooth) - for a day or two. In general, in any case, you will need to charge them at least once every two days. Charge for an hour and a half.

Conclusion

Once again, I would like to voice the cost: at the moment, according to Yandex.Market, it ranges from 3,100 to 4,000 rubles. I think when the "ears" officially reach Russia, the price tag will be around 4,000 rubles. In different chinese online stores EP51 will cost 31-35 US dollars, that is, about 2,000 rubles. Therefore, I advise you not to wait and take right now on "foreign" sites: this is not the price that is worth killing yourself if suddenly you are not satisfied with the sound.

I would consider Meizu EP51 as a gift, for example, to a teenager: the price for the headphones is small, they look cool, sound normal, but if lost / stolen, it's a pity, but not to tears.

Visitor reviews about Meizu EP52 Bluetooth Earphone Black-Red

Most frequent question from clients:

Hello! Please tell me why the prices in your store are lower than in others and sometimes even much lower?

Bought these headphones about a week ago after looking at several youtube reviews. Before that I used JBL Reflect Mini BT, but once I forgot them while charging in a cafe and have been looking for a replacement ever since. In these headphones, they were attracted in the first place: the popularity of the brand, the form factor that allows them to be worn around the neck and without unnecessary discomfort from a huge unit with a microphone and a battery on a cord, reviews of the sound quality. After a week of use, I noticed a couple of shortcomings: the connection is not very reliable (if the phone is in your pocket, but sometimes millisecond communication interruptions occur. But this is not regular, so it might be the phone (oneplus 3T). At first, the headphones did not want to connect to phone in audio transmission mode, only as a headset when making a call. I reconnected several times and since then there are no problems, it pairs immediately as it should. Perhaps the problem is also with the phone. The worst problem that is not solved is the HORRIBLE voice of the interlocutor in the headphones when calling A wheeze, the sound is quiet and as if from afar, although I can be heard well. But I do not speak often on the headset, so I survived this drawback. On the positive side: in comparison with the JBL Reflect Mini, the assembly is much better. The usb connector plug sits tightly, maybe even too. apparently for the sake of moisture protection. The plastic is pleasant to the touch, does not interfere with the neck. I am not an audio gourmet and took them primarily for sports. For this sound, hwa melts headlong. Plus a selection of earplugs and ear braces allows you to assemble them for yourself. But personally, even with the smallest earplugs, my ears still start to hurt after an hour of wearing. There are no complaints about the battery life. Periodic listening is definitely enough for a day. It pays for all the disadvantages affordable price... I would definitely recommend them for purchase. Thanks to player.ru for very prompt delivery on the day of order.

High quality device. The sound is clear, the bass is great. Comparable to top-end sony. I recommend.

In use for 2 weeks. The sound is excellent, the headphones do not outweigh, the strong rubberized wire. The battery holds a long time, charging is very good. fast. The buttons work flawlessly. On the downside, the signal disappears in the pants pocket, sometimes millisecond breaks, sometimes very sensitive (OnePlus 5t phone). During a conversation, the voice of the interlocutor is heard as from a pipe. In general, I liked it, excellent sound + freedom from the wire.

I liked the meizu ep52 headphones very much. lightweight and comfortable. the sound is gorgeous for its value. minus: no charging included. only adapter. Charge only from usb input computer or laptop. If the support would suggest what kind of charging is needed for these headphones? Then I would be 100% satisfied

Reply from the forum: Hello! Charging via USB cable - micro USB... The maximum current is 1 ampere.

BOUGHT HUSBAND AS A GIFT. THANKS TO THE STORE FOR THE EFFICIENCY, DELIVERED THE NEXT DAY. I RECOMMEND BOTH THE GOODS AND THE STORE. AND me and husband I'm happy I bought a camera for myself, and headphones for my husband. Everything works. Thank you

Alexandra:

I bought these headphones about a week ago not for myself, but I managed to listen and touch. I was very pleased with the package bundle and, in general, the packaging - everything is very nice and neatly packed, the box is closed with a magnet, all the components are quite conveniently placed in separate cells. From the bundle, I was pleased with the presence of a convenient silicone case, which also closes with a magnet, and, of course, many different options for silicone ear pads, which allows you to choose the most comfortable one for yourself. In general, the packaging is very similar to BeatsX, it's a pity the bits in the case do not have a magnet. Ears connect without problems, charge in a couple of hours, and lie quite comfortably on the neck. They sound very good, a familiar sound expert even said that the sound is better than in bits. During a conversation, the sound is normal, the interlocutor is heard well and the microphone also works without problems, there are no complaints. There are all sorts of cool tricks. For example, when the headphones are magnetized, the music is paused, or if you are talking at this moment, the call is dropped. A trifle, but nice. In general, I think very good device, especially for that kind of money. I recommend.

Good headphones for their price, quite comfortable to use, the sound is clear, though the first few days the lows wheezed, but this is normal since the speakers did not sway, then everything became fine and the sound returned to normal, I recommend these headphones for purchase, I listen all day from 9 to 8 intermittently and lasts until the evening. Good headphones
