Huawei p9 lite front camera. grumpy review. ⇡ Communication and wireless interfaces

A simple trick: we release a flagship, and then a simplified version with the same name, this is a feature of many manufacturers. For example, Samsung sells different Galaxy S mini with flagship indexes (S3 mini, S4 mini, S5 mini), but very simple stuffing. Sony takes a different path: a smartphone of reduced size, gets top-end characteristics, not everyone is comfortable walking with a “spade” device (Z1 Compact, Z3 Compact). How is Huawei doing? We take P9 Lite in hand, now let's try.

Plastic design

The P9 Lite turned out to be plastic and not metal as I expected. More precisely, there is metal on the sides, but you want a lot of iron, like the Honor series. But here the entire back panel is covered with plastic, we saved.

The P9 Lite also has a strangely designed insert at the top, where the camera and flash are located. The high-gloss gloss is combined with the bezel, where the same horizontal stripes run. But the design for my taste is so-so, strange Chinese style.

But the smartphone is not very big, it is well-tuned for “one-handed” control, you don't have to get used to its size. A couple of convex side buttons are easy to press, you won't miss.

Responsive scanner

The fingerprint scanner is located at the back, the memory stores up to 5 different fingers. The scanner is fast and accurate, and I got the impression that no matter how you put your finger, the phone still reads the fingerprint correctly.

I know that not everyone likes it when the scanner is located in the back. Say, when you need to see notifications, you need to pick up the phone from the table and press the fingerprint sensor. You can't argue with that, although personally it's not particularly critical to me. But I liked that the P9 Lite does not have to press the scanner with force, this is not a button like in the iPhone, where you have to press until it clicks. In my opinion, the Chinese have got a more technological option.

In addition, the scanner can flip through photos, click on it while taking a photo, then it works with the shutter button. Or answer the call, this function is also provided.

Strange colors

The screen is bright, the colors scream like it's AMOLED from Samsung. But no, this is a specifically tuned IPS-screen with cold colors familiar to Huawei smartphones. If you want, you can try changing the shades in the settings, it gets better, albeit not perfect.

Otherwise, everything is fine: a screen with small narrow bezels, glass with a good oleophobic coating.Diagonal 5.2 inches, 1920 × 1080, here like everyone else. For winter or cold seasons, the gloved control mode is useful. And in the summer I did not have enough stock in terms of brightness on the street, under the sun I want to add a little more, but you run into a limitation.

More powerful than classmates

Huawei is one of the few manufacturers to make their own processors. In terms of performance, the phone did not take the lead, but it didn’t remain an outsider either. Modern toys the phone will pull, but on average or even more low settings graphics. The menu works smartly, but if you take turns switching between the browser, the messenger and the toy race, you will notice that such a standard is given by Huawei P9 Lite with effort. For comparison, I took several devices from the same segment. It's nice to see that the new product is more powerful than its competitors.

New Android, old interface

Google has made Marshmallow concise, flat and minimalistic, but the Chinese customize the system in their own way. The themes work here, the wallpaper changes, and the pictures are very cool, there are a lot of them, they are constantly updated on the lock screen when you turn on the backlight. But if you don't like it, you can put your favorite one and not change anything.

Many additional applications have been added to the shell, but if you do not use programs, you can easily remove them from the menu. You cannot delete the built-in Health application, and you should not do it. The program keeps track of activity, counts steps, energy costs, a good replacement for a fitness bracelet.

In my opinion, Huawei's interface is one of the best on Android: the system works quickly, there are many settings for decorating and decorating the menu, auxiliary functions are working to clear memory or control malware with viruses. Suddenly I downloaded pirated archives from the Internet!

Low-playing

The battery is 3000 mAh, it seems the capacity is not that small, but in rare cases my phone worked for more than one day. You can try to optimize the phone's operating time if you use the built-in application and use it to “kill” the programs in the background, but this is not a hobby.

Cameras

The 8 megapixel front camera traditionally makes a "porcelain face", removing the slightest skin imperfections. Girls like it, but I'm not a fan of selfies myself. The main one is 13 megapixels, it works manual modeif you like to play with sliders and manually set shooting parameters. But I love the machine, and it works as it should here, taking normal photos in the afternoon and not so good in the evening. The phone writes video so-so, the picture is not very clear and blurry.

Mono sound

The Chinese brought out the holes for the speaker from both sides to the bottom end. Wow stereo? No, props, there is only one speaker, but the bell is heard well. The sound in the headphones is not very loud, the margin is not the greatest, but there is no chance of deafening.

For charging and connecting to a computer, we use the microUSB port at the bottom. NFC was also added to the smartphone for connecting accessories. I note that Wi-Fi only works in the 2.4 GHz band, if there are neighbors with routers around, then it would be easier to live with 5 GHz. LTE, of course, also works flawlessly.

Everything is in order with navigation, the phone and the signal are found quickly, and it works stably with GPS / GLONASS satellites. There are also two SIM cards, one of which is nano and the other is micro, convenient on vacation - you can buy a local SIM of any format. But if you install a second SIM, you will have to sacrifice a microSD card.

Competitors

Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 - beautiful smartphone with good performance, a decent camera, decent autonomy for 24 thousand rubles. This is a more expensive option.

If you need a cheaper phone, you can look in the direction of the Chinese Meizu M3 Note: it is larger and not as powerful, but it has a larger screen, it costs 17 thousand rubles.

Opinion

At the presentation of the smartphone in Russia, I was pleasantly surprised by the price - 19,990 rubles, I thought it would cost more. Huawei P9 lite is a good example of how to make a mid-range model adequate in terms of characteristics and price. Fresh android version, convenient and fast shell, nice little things like NFC or two slots for SIM-cards of different sizes.

Huawei P9 Lite wants to look like an older model, but in fact there is a simpler filling, plastic in the case and not such outstanding photo capabilities. But the double price difference justifies everything.

Greetings friends!

Today we again bring up the topic of reviews of new technology. This time we are in a hurry to present to your attention Huawei p9 lite review, which will include not only the capabilities and filling of the gadget, but also a lot of useful information: how long does it work without recharging, what cameras can do, what sound quality, etc. In general, if you want to be savvy in matters of the presented smartphone, then the article is just for you.

Huawei P9 lite continues the line of the P9 series and is an improved and lighter flagship. So, if you decide to buy yourself such a gadget in 2017, then prepare 13,500-15,000 rubles. For that kind of money, you will receive a box with the following components:

  • charger;
  • USB cable;
  • headset;
  • instructions for use.

Agree, not a lot, but on the other hand, everything you need is present.

If you want to save money and, in addition to everything, get a free silicone case, bumper and a protective film on the screen, paying for only 9600 rubles (at the time of writing this review), then order here on the Aliexpress website. If you have any problems with ordering, write in the comments, we will definitely help.

On metal, unlike the flagship P9, manufacturers have saved money, but this does not significantly affect the attractive design of the gadget. Here, metal is present on the side frames of the device, everything else is plastic, but don't think that this is a low-quality Chinese case. The manufacturer has taken care that the material is high Quality.

A solid body, rounded corners, beveled edges made of metal, together with a small thickness, give the device a solid appearance. The back cover has a matte texture, but, in our opinion, a small glossy insert spoils the rear view a little, but as they say: the taste and color ...

The buttons that control the volume and are responsible for turning on / off the flagship look like metal, especially in Gold color, but they, like the body, are made of plastic. These buttons are located on the right side of the gadget, by the way, there are no others on the panel.

Going further - a convenient location of the headset jack and micro-USB is present. If, when choosing a smartphone, design is important for you, not the filling, then the presented phone will suit all parameters, because the appearance is not inferior to expensive devices.

The smartphone has a touchscreen display, which, according to the manufacturer, occupies 76.4% of the entire front panel. The screen itself is framed, but this does not affect its appearance. The phone has protective glass with anti-reflective surface. You can easily adjust the brightness of the screen using the light sensor.

The novelty also has a proximity sensor, with its help the screen is locked at the moment of approaching the ear. There is multitouch technology, so the flagship can easily cope with 10 touches to the screen at once. You can bring the display to work using no longer double tapping on the glass, but by touching the fingerprint scanner platform.

The screen supports work if you have to use it with gloves in the cold season. To do this, you just need to connect support for this screen function.

Flagship technical parameters

The main huawei characteristics The P9 lite are as follows:

  • SoC HiSilicon Kirin 650, 8 cores ARM Cortex-A53, 4 × 2.0 GHz and 4 × 1.7 GHz;

Performance

The platform of the gadget is based on the new 8-core SoC HiSilicon Kirin 650, which was developed directly by Huawei.

The presented development has many advantages - if we compare it with the Kirin 620, then the performance is 100% higher. The hardware platform, despite all the improvements, belongs to the mid-range engines, but we still determined the capabilities of the phone.

We can assure you that the smartphone will cope with any tasks, and those who like to play demanding games will not see braking or delays, albeit at low and medium settings.

The device also contains a new i5 coprocessor, which is responsible for the high-quality operation of all sensors of the device. We note that the processor has increased performance, but power consumption is reduced.

RAM is 3 GB, which is quite enough for installing basic programs, and everything else can easily fit on the built-in memory, which is 16 GB. If you wish, you can always increase the volume of the gadget using microSD cards, but there is a drawback here: there will be a need to remove one SIM card.

Shell

The presented flagship model works on the platform Google android 6.0 Marshmallo, gestures are minimized here, but there is a virtual button to guide the menu.

The software platform enables phone users to:

  • change themes;
  • enable simplified desktop mode;
  • change the bottom row of controls;
  • call an additional menu to turn on the flashlight and other functions of the gadget.

The software shell includes in the smartphone such necessary components as a pedometer, file manager, the flagship manager.

Camera capabilities

The Huawei P9 lite has two cameras with a resolution of 13 and 8 megapixels. The main camera of 8 pixels, let's say, is not ideal (it lacks its own flash), but if you need pictures for selfies, then you can feel free to share them with your friends.

But as for the main camera, its 13-megapixel module with a Sony IMX214 sensor and a good aperture allows you to take really high quality pictures. The camera has autofocus and a bright flash, which are responsible for the quality of the footage.

The camera interface is user-friendly, has many settings and additional modes to make shooting as comfortable as possible. The video camera does not have ultra-modern modes, we have highlighted only the possibility of shooting on the go with the stabilization function and slow motion.

But if you shoot in maximum resolution, the quality is spoiled by such failures as slowdowns. If you shoot distant objects, you will notice blur at the edges of the photo, but this flaw is not noticeable in a close angle.

Sound quality

Let's move on to the indisputable advantage of the novelty - the sound, it is he who deserves the attention of users. The phone features a state-of-the-art audio processor and powerful speaker that deliver vibrant and rich audio playback.

Moreover, the quality does not change either when playing on the main speaker or when using headphones. We did not find any comments regarding the speaker and microphone either, you will recognize the iconic timbre of the voice from the first word, there are also no noises during conversation.

Despite the 3000 mAh battery capacity, the device cannot be called a long-liver. If during the day you conduct phone calls, listen to music, and also take a few selfies, of course the Internet, then the device may not last until the evening.

But with inactive use, the battery will last for 1 day for sure. Although, if we compare with competing models, the price of which is several times more expensive, then the autonomous work in smartphones with the same battery is about the same.

Outcome

Summing up, I would like to say that the smartphone, thanks to its attractive design and overall dimensions suitable for both a successful businessman and a stylish student, if you choose the color - Black. To complement the flagship, we recommend purchasing interesting accessories, for example, casewhich according to affordable price you will find on Aliexpress.

Finally, we would like to remind you that the new product is good at an acceptable price, high-quality sound, convenient menu and attractive design. But if you need a phone as a camera and not only for documentaries, then you should pay attention to other devices.

The Huawei P9 Lite fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and looks very attractive. But it is no longer very convenient to operate it with one hand, and the design does give a feeling of déjà vu - the smartphone is similar to both the Huawei P8 Lite and the Huawei P9, however, it also does not differ much from the Huawei P8.

Dimensions Huawei P9 Lite: 146.8 × 72.6 × 7.7 mm, it is similar in size to Sony Xperia Z3 +, but slightly inferior to it, and in comparison with Samsung Galaxy J3 it is thinner and taller. The weight of the device is 145 grams, which is not much, the 5-inch Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL weighed the same.

The design of the smartphone is attractive, but not original - it cannot be immediately distinguished either from its predecessor or from its older brother. Only small details like the design of the keys, the texture of the back, or the appearance of the lens have undergone changes. The front panel does not evoke any emotions at all, we can only note the Huawei inscription and black frames around the display - already a typical way to make the side frames visually thin (when the display is off, they are not visible). Speaking of frames, they are really not that thick, the ratio of the screen area to the surface of the device is about 70%, which is not a bad indicator. The side edges are made of metal, these are not just stylized plastic inserts. Rear panel smooth, but not slippery, visually, again, not very remarkable. On it you can see the logo with the inscription Huawei, but the same inscription is already on the front panel, why it is also here is not clear. In addition, on the back you can note a square fingerprint scanner and a sticky strip on top. Purely subjectively, the surface seemed to us unpleasant to the touch, especially the very strip on top - as if you were touching jelly, which dried up a couple of months ago.

The materials of the body of the smartphone feel like the metal Samsung Galaxy A3. But unlike it, the body of the lightweight P9 Lite is made not of metal, but of matte plastic, with the exception of the side frames. It scratches easily, but overall the build quality is pretty good for a slim body.

Huawei Honor The P9 is available in three colors - black, white and gold.

Screen - 4.8

The Huawei P9 Lite has a high-quality 5.2-inch display that is crisp and bright, but with a slightly elevated color temperature. However, you can adjust it to your taste using the image settings.

The display has received a high Full HD-resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels). The image on this screen looks very sharp, because the pixel density is 424 dpi. To make the resolution higher is basically useless, the eyes would simply not notice the difference. The screen received a very effective oleophobic coating - it barely gets dirty and is easy to wipe off. The viewing angles are good, but average by the standards of an IPS matrix. The brightness range is quite large - from 10 to 510 cd / m2, on a sunny day the screen is easy to read. In the dark, the screen is also comfortable and does not blind your eyes too much. The smartphone is equipped with an auto-brightness function, it works quickly, but tends to save money - we always wanted to add a little more brightness to make the display a little more readable. The image contrast is average, 900: 1, slightly worse than that of Huawei Honor 7. The color gamut covers 100% of the standard and even falls out of it, apparently claiming to be something between the sRGB gamut and wider Adobe RGB. The color temperature turned out to be somewhat overestimated - 8400 degrees, which makes the image look a little cool. But you can always correct it in the screen settings, choosing not only on the "warmer / colder" scale, but also with shade options. The color accuracy of the display turned out to be high level, no obvious deviations were noticed, only a slight shade of blue. At the same time, the colors of the phone interface itself (shortcuts and desktop) look a little pale, but it is quite possible that this was intended. Separately, we note such an important plus as the mode of operation with gloves - if you turn it on, the screen becomes very sensitive, which will allow you to work with it outdoors even in cold weather.

Camera

Huawei Honor P9 Lite received only medium cameras at 13 and 8 MP, not so much different from Huawei P8 Lite (and perhaps even the same). They will be able to make a good passing shot, especially in good lighting, but they are inferior to flagship solutions.

A major change in terms of cameras affected the interface, and, in our opinion, not for the better or for the worse, but really, just somewhere to the side. Previously, the main settings were available directly from the main screen, but now they need to be pulled to the side with a "swipe". Pull from the left edge of the screen - you will enter the shooting mode selection window, pull from the right to the left side - get the settings themselves. It is difficult to give any assessment to such changes, this is an amateur, but at first it is a little confusing. As for the possibilities of settings themselves, they are quite rich - there are a number of simple filters, HDR-mode, “ Tasty food”, Panorama shooting, slow motion shooting, decoration mode and“ Light ”. Only the last mode is unusual here - it is needed to shoot light sources in the dark with a long exposure of up to 30 seconds. However, to prevent the photo from getting too blurry, you will need a tripod - a common "accessory" for a camera, but an outlandish one for a phone. The camera is also equipped with a professional mode, and in it you can change quite a few parameters manually:

  • ISO (100 to 1600)
  • Metering method (spot, center-weighted, matrix)
  • White balance (5 options plus Auto)
  • Exposure (-4 to +4)
  • Focus (Auto or Manual)
  • Shutter speed (1/4000 to 8 sec).

The possibilities are wide enough for price category phone, especially in terms of exposure. But if we talk about the quality of images, then it is average for the resolution of cameras. It's even a little sad after quality cameras in Huawei P9 from P9 Lite you also expect something cool. But here everything is quite ordinary - a medium-sized 1/3 ″ sensor with 1.12 micrometer pixels and f / 2.0 aperture is used. The level of detail is standard for a resolution of 13 MP, focusing works quite quickly (on the order of a second), and most importantly, it is usually accurate. During the day, the camera shoots well enough, noise and blur can be seen only by zooming in on the image. But in the evening and at night, like most cameras in this price range, the picture is covered with noise. The smartphone can shoot video up to Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels). The camera also has a slow motion video mode at 120 frames per second, but the resolution drops to a ridiculous 640x480 pixels. Seriously filming something in this quality is simply unrealistic. The camera has no tracking autofocus, but you can tap on any object, in which case the device will try to keep it in focus. Moreover, unlike its predecessors, this function began to work more or less adequately - it does not often lose the desired object and really does at least somehow monitor it.

The front camera received 8 MP at once, but they are not used very effectively. This allows you to get more details in the light, but all this gain is lost in low light, indoor selfies no longer look very successful if you zoom in on the image. The camera does not have a separate flash, but if necessary, the display can itself illuminate your selfie in the manner of Retina Flash on the iPhone 6s.

Working with text - 5.0

The Huawei P9 Lite comes with two preinstalled keyboards: the standard one from Google and the Huawei Swype. The first one can be called typical, there is no markup of additional characters, but there is support for continuous input and switching between languages \u200b\u200busing a separate key. The proprietary keyboard is also interesting, besides the same functions, the icons with the keys also have additional symbols markings and a whole bunch of everything. For example, showing the path of your finger, adjusting the keyboard height, fonts, and special gestures for control. The only thing we didn't like was switching between languages \u200b\u200b- it happens by pressing the space bar and "swipe" up and then choosing a language from the drop-down list.

Internet - 5.0

Browsers are preinstalled on Huawei P9 Lite Google chrome and Opera. The first is available on most Android devices, but it can be compared to all others. Its main feature is that it eats a lot random access memorybut also works pretty fast. Besides, it allows you to synchronize tabs with the desktop version of the browser. But Opera has its own features such as auto-fitting the page text to the width of the screen and an express panel with icons of sites of interest to you.

Communications - 3.8

The set of communications for Huawei P9 Lite can be called almost top-end:

  • Wi-Fi b / g / n with Wi-Fi Direct and the ability to share the Internet
  • Bluetooth 4.1 with low power consumption and A2DP profile
  • LTE Cat. 6 (up to 300/50 Mbps)
  • A-GPS with GLONASS support
  • NFC Chip
  • FM radio (you need headphones for it).

Only the NFC chip and high-speed LTE are really noteworthy. Otherwise, everything is pretty typical - simple Wi-Fi and a Micro-USB 2.0 connector without OTG or Host support for connecting peripherals.

Multimedia - 4.4

The Huawei P9 Lite smartphone supports most audio and video codecs and provides quite good quality sound.

The phone plays music in FLAC and many other formats, but can't handle AC-3 (by the way, most smartphones “don't like” it). The built-in video player is ready to play almost anything, be it 2K, 4K, TS, RMVB or any other format.

The Huawei P9 Lite has a proprietary audio player preinstalled, but there are almost no settings whatsoever. There is not even an equalizer, which, by the way, was in the same player on the Honor 5X. Apparently, they considered it unnecessary? The only outlet is that when you plug in headphones, you can turn on the SWS (Super Wide Sound) function, which improves the sound quality, making it more spacious. The preinstalled video player also failed to please with some tricks, except for the same SWS and watching movies in a separate small window (a dubious pleasure for a small screen). By and large, it can only play video or ... not play.

Battery - 2.8

The autonomy of the smartphone can be called only average, which is already a little not “flagship”. We needed it somewhere for a day of work, no more.

Despite the fact that the battery capacity has grown from 2200 mAh to 3000 mAh, the autonomy of the phone has remained about the same. It looks like all of the battery gain has gone to a brighter, sharper screen. When watching HD video, the smartphone lasts 6 hours 24 minutes, an average result, almost like the stylish Lenovo Vibe X2 or the large Huawei Honor 4X. In music listening mode, the smartphone lasted 45 hours, a rather modest result, comparable to the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser, but almost half the size of the LG Nexus 5X. Nevertheless, in other tests, the Huawei P9 Lite performed well. So, an hour of work of the GeekBench Battery Test benchmark discharged the battery by only 10% of the charge, it is better only with long-playing smartphones like the Huawei Honor 4C Pro. An hour of playing Thumb Drift eats up 26%, that is, you can expect about 4 hours of battery life from the phone in games. Shooting a 10-minute HD movie took only 4% of the battery, which is much better than average.

In daily use, the Huawei P9Lite was enough for a day, no more. Like all smartphones, there is a power saving mode. Including it, you get a black-and-white "dialer" with SMS-messages, all other functions become unavailable.

Performance - 3.3

Huawei P9 Lite got enough powerful filling, especially compared to its direct predecessor. The phone's performance is enough for the smooth operation of the interface and for solving most tasks, except perhaps for heavy and demanding games.

The smartphone received a fairly powerful eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 650 processor, four cores of which operate at a frequency of up to 1.7 GHz, and the other four - up to 2.0 GHz. Interestingly, the company does not position the chip as a top-end one, it is even considered quite budgetary (it will be used, for example, in Huawei Honor 5C), but at the same time it is able to provide performance above average. It is also curious that the processor is made according to a thin 16 nm technical process, that is, Huawei keeps up with the times. Huawei P9 Lite received 2 GB of RAM, there are also versions with 3 GB of RAM, but it seems that they will not reach Russia.

In daily using Huawei P9 Lite shows itself perfectly, its capacities are enough to work with a heavy proprietary interface. The only problem for him is heavy games (like Asphalt 8). At the maximum schedule, the smartphone slows down, and quite noticeably, and at medium and low - the race is already smooth. Mid-range games like Minion Rush or Thumb Drift run fast and without any visible problems. At the same time, the smartphone hardly heats up - after an hour of continuous operation, the body temperature did not exceed 43 degrees at its hottest point.

In various benchmarks, Huawei P9 Lite showed results at a level between the average and flagship:

  • Geekbench 3 (processor test) - 3995 points, just a hundred and something inferior
  • Ice Storm Unlimited by 3DMark (graphics) - 11586, higher than the stylish Lenovo Vibe Shot
  • AnTuTu 6.0 (mixed test) - 52,999 points, comparable to the Meizu MX5.

Memory - 4.0

The volume of permanent memory Huawei P9 Lite is 16 GB, of which about 10.3 GB is available to the user. This is an average figure, exactly the same amount you get on the budget Honor 4C Pro. If you take a lot of photographs or download large programs, then a slot for a memory card will come in handy (you can add up to 256 GB at once). Conveniently, the card can store not only photos and videos, but also many applications.

Features:

Huawei P9 Lite got all the latest - latest android 6.0 and version of the proprietary interface EMUI 4.1. The phone's special feature is the fingerprint scanner, new system and functional interface... In addition, we note the presence of an NFC chip, fast LTE, support for two SIM-cards, as well as a non-separable body.

An unpleasant feature is the so-called combined slot, into which you can choose to insert either a memory card or a second SIM card. Needless to say, the user prefers not to make such a difficult choice, but to have both at once.

As for the updated interface, it has its own oddities. The camera application has become different, the proprietary browser has disappeared somewhere and some interesting control features like double tapping on the screen to unlock. The settings have become more confusing, there are fewer different items in them, it seems that often something is simply missing. For example, the battery manager - you can't get it directly from the settings window, since in this case there is a search window, in which you can find all the mysteriously "missing" items.

But it is not all that bad. The phone has a fingerprint scanner that responds almost instantly. Moreover, you can use it not only for unlocking, but also for control. So, with it you can shoot, respond to incoming call, open the notification panel or flip through photos.

Huawei P9 Lite: the phone looks aesthetically pleasing

In the case of Huawei P9 Lite, one of the victims of the equipment (compared to) was the dual camera of the flagship. Instead, a completely ordinary 13-megapixel module is installed.

The WLAN speed has also gotten a little worse: the P9 Lite lacks the ac standard. Instead of LTE Cat6, the P9 Lite has LTE Cat4.

In terms of performance, we cannot complain about the P9 Lite, although it uses the eight-core Kirin 650 with clock frequency 2 GHz instead of the much more powerful Kirin 955 in the P9.

The P9 Lite delivers lightning-fast performance and responsive gesture control. Like the top model, this smartphone has 3 GB of RAM.

What other features of the P9 Lite did we like, and what inconveniences we will have to endure when buying the P9 Lite? In any case, the price of the device is acceptable: purchase this mobile phone you can for 290 euros (the price in Russia will be announced on June 7, but at the current exchange rate it turns out to be 21,300 rubles).

Huawei P9 Lite: The smartphone comes with a multi-functional slot. There you can place either two SIM cards, or a memory card and one SIM card.

P9 Lite convincing display and phone speakers

We are glad that when deleting the flagship functions from the list for the Lite version, Huawei did not draw a red pencil over the main ones. For example, in the P9 Lite multifunctional slot, you can also insert either two SIM cards, or a microSD memory card and one SIM card. The telephone acoustics also deserve praise: we have not received such pleasure from a test conversation for a long time.

On the smartphone side, we liked the quiet line and the natural sounding of the interlocutor's voice. Noise cancellation works well too, only during counter-conversation P9 Lite can occasionally swallow this or that syllable. The speakerphone mode also pleased us - the voice of the interlocutor sounds clear and natural, as if he is nearby.

In terms of the display, Huawei hasn't lost its face either. While the P9 Lite lacks OLED technology, let alone the curved or rounded edge of the Edge, its contrast ratio (118: 1) and maximum brightness (500 cd / m2) are pretty high for a 5.2-inch device. The color space coverage could have been slightly wider, but overall the display deserves ratings from good to very good.

Huawei P9 Lite: Even without the help of Leica, the P9 Lite still produces quite usable images.

Bad photos without a Leica camera?

While Huawei partnered with Leica to make the camera in the flagship P9, it doesn't matter software or by lenses - P9 Lite is released without this bonus. And have the photographs gone bad now? No, the 13-megapixel camera is capable of taking quite satisfying pictures.

In particular, in daylight, images are very detailed and crisp even in corners. In addition, our artificial head test “scene” looks pleasantly bright.

Even in low light, the P9 Lite succeeds in beautiful photos. Though they turn out to be very “soft”, but for the same reason - quiet and bright. The P9 Lite camera is rented only in complete darkness: despite the presence of a dual LED flash, the images are too dark, noisy and not very clear.

Among the various shooting modes there are interesting not only for the female part of the audience, for example, "Food", but also slow motion, as well as single frame. Professional mode, in which you can independently determine the ISO and shutter speed, is aimed at ambitious photographers.

Huawei P9 Lite: Despite the large capacity, the battery is quickly depleted.

P9 Lite battery problem

Until now, in fact, everything went like clockwork, but the time has come to talk about the problems. In the case of the P9 Lite, this is the battery. With a 3,000mAh battery, the smartphone should have been well prepared for our battery tests, but it blew out pretty quickly in web surfing mode - after just 6 hours and 18 minutes.

However, in the mode telephone conversation the device can last longer - you can chat continuously for about 9.5 hours. We were unpleasantly surprised by the time it takes a smartphone to fully charge using the supplied power supply: the P9 Lite has to spend about 3 hours 30 minutes at the outlet - it's just a very long time.

Huawei P9 Lite: alternative

It plays in the same league as Huawei P9 Lite - in terms of both price and equipment (the price in Russia is 15-20 thousand rubles). If you've never heard of a ZUK smartphone - no big deal! Behind its facade there is technology from Lenovo, and in large quantities. This mobile phone also has a Dual-SIM function and a fingerprint sensor.

During the test, it showed a good battery life. A large 4100 mAh battery can withstand more than 10 hours of continuous operation in web surfing mode, and more than 13.5 hours in a phone call mode. By appearance ZUK Z1 due to plastic back cover it cannot compete with P9 Lite.

The 5.5-inch display is larger and offers better contrast, higher brightness and the same Full HD resolution. Lovers of LTE speeds should be careful when choosing the ZUK Z1 - there is no 800 MHz band.

I remember that P8 Lite sounded ... not that bad, but not remarkable at all - an ordinary mobile phone at the junction of the budget and middle class. "Nine" sounds more expressive, because the clarity and volume in this model is slightly higher than that of its predecessor. The sound has accumulated the smallest middle frequencies and prevailing highs - the music overloaded with details sounds recognizable, but not very clear. But less dramatic tracks, both in terms of volume and correctness, are reproduced much better than you expect from a thin model with metal inserts. The smartphone sounds about the same as the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016, slightly better than the Meizu MX5, and much better quality compared to ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE551ML, LG Nexus 5X or Sony Xperia M5.

In headphones, the sound is a cross between the implementation of audio in popular competitors' chips - that is, the sound is cleaner and more voluminous than in smartphones running MediaTek MT6752 / 6753 / Helio X10 / P10 (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Meizu M2 Note, Sony Xperia C5 Ultra), but still less detailed than those of successful representatives based on Snapdragon 615/652 (LG G5 SE, Htc one A9).

The maximum volume is slightly above the average level, the study is on a solid "four". This is when it comes to browsers and applications. The standard audio player has the ability to turn on the SWS (Super Wide Sound) function - it really ennobles the sound, adds bass and volume to the music. Only now it is "blown away", is it worth raising the volume above 50% of the maximum - hearing protection, or would an audio chip beyond this line begin to disgrace under the load of additional "boost"?

Iron

The hardware in Huawei P9 Lite is difficult to assess unequivocally. On the one hand, there is a modern economical (16-nm FinFET process technology, comrades), "cold" chip with the same energy-efficient Mali-T830 graphics. The Cortex-A53 cores cannot be called new, but the equally advanced Snapdragon 625 never made it to the conveyor, and processors of a similar design are divided into low-power (Snapdragon 615/616/617 / Exyno 7580), and 28-nm "ovens" - MediaTek Helio X10 / Turbo or Snapdragon 808.
