How to use a wireless selfie stick. Selfie stick - what is it and how to use it? We connect the monopod to Android devices and gadgets from Apple via Bluetooth channel

The ability to take a photo of yourself against the backdrop of some landmark, while traveling or just at a family dinner, without the help of strangers - this is exactly what a monopod allows you to do. Of course, selfies can also be taken at arm's length. But in this case, you won’t get such a wide view as in the photo from a selfie stick. Let's figure out what a monopod is, what they are and how to use them.

Device Description

A tripod, monopod for cameras or smartphones have become an integral part modern life: You can see people everywhere taking pictures of themselves using a stick-like device. By and large, the answer to the question of what a monopod is is quite simple: this is the very stick on which the phone is mounted.

That is, a monopod is a kind of usual tripod for a camera that allows you to take a photograph by pressing a button installed on it or using a Bluetooth headset, but not on the photographic device itself. A monopod for a camera or smartphone is usually made of plastic or metal.

There are several types of selfie sticks, so everyone can choose the option that is most convenient for them. By the way, the big advantage of this invention is the wide price range and wide variety of choices on the market. A monopod is a telescopic device that allows the owner to effortlessly take photographs from a distance to which its handle, which can be plastic, metal or rubberized, extends. The latter is especially comfortable to hold; it fits well in the hand and does not slip out.

On the back of the monopod there is a special “socket” in which the smartphone is clamped. By the way, selfie sticks can be not only classic black, but also all kinds of bright shades.

Monopod for smartphone with button

Having figured out what a monopod is and decided whether you need one, you need to decide on its type. There are four of them in total. Let's start listing them in descending order of their convenience and popularity. The first is a selfie monopod with a Bluetooth button. It is considered the most convenient; it will be discussed in more detail below.

The next option is a selfie stick with a button and a wire. There is a button on its handle, and at the top, on the reverse side, there is a small wire through which the monopod connects to the smartphone, through which it works without activating the Bluetooth mode. This selfie stick does not require recharging, which is its undoubted advantage; there is no need for a remote control, which is often lost.

But this wire is most often made in white, due to which it does not look very stylish and beautiful. In addition, it is quite thin, so it can easily be damaged. By the way, when recording video on such a selfie stick, be sure to remove the wire from the connector (inserted into the headphone jack), otherwise it will not have sound.

Tripod: monopod without button

Another type of selfie stick is the simplest and, unfortunately, not very convenient option. This is a monopod for a smartphone without buttons, that is, an ordinary tripod. You can take photographs on it only using a timer installed directly on the photographing device. After the specified time has passed, a photo will be taken, and if you want to retake it, you will have to set the timer again.

Because it is especially popular similar devices They are not used due to the inconvenience of use, but they are cheap. Although, if you have already purchased one, don’t worry: you can buy a Bluetooth button for it separately.

Monopod for selfie with Bluetooth button

A monopod for a smartphone is considered the most convenient and, naturally, the most in demand. Taking photos with such a selfie stick is easy, quick and simple; there is no need to constantly insert the wire into the socket on the phone, which many people often forget to do. Especially when taking photos while running. Its main advantage is the Bluetooth button located on the tripod itself. This monopod runs on a battery that needs to be charged regularly, just like any smartphone or camera. If you forget to do this, it will not work. This is perhaps the only disadvantage of this type of selfie stick.

Selfie sticks with Bluetooth button on the remote control

Another option for a monopod working via Bluetooth. But unlike the previous one, the button is not on the tripod itself, but on a special remote control button. Convenience of this device is that it can be installed like an ordinary tripod; a monopod will easily perform its function if it is properly strengthened.

Having selected the viewing area that you want to capture and firmly established it at the desired distance, take the remote control button with you and click at any time the desired number of times. Such a photo will turn out not just like a selfie, but almost as if it was taken by a photographer or at least another person. Of course, taking a standard selfie will be no less simple: turn on Bluetooth on both the monopod and the smartphone, pull out the tripod, select an angle and pose, and click the button.

Despite all the advantages, this device still has disadvantages: the remote control is very small, so it is very easy to lose it. If you decide to take a selfie, then one hand will be occupied with the tripod handle, and the other with this very button, which is not very convenient. In addition, the remote control button is not always equipped with the monopod itself, so there is a possibility of purchasing it separately.

Monopod for camera

Many photography enthusiasts can argue that newfangled gadgets are capable of taking pictures whose quality will be no worse, or even better, than many cameras. However, fans of standard photography equipment or those who do not have a smartphone may need a monopod for their camera.

It differs from the similar one for a smartphone in being more durable, because cameras are much heavier. For each of them you need to select a monopod separately, because they come in different sizes and, accordingly, weight. Therefore, they must be especially reliable and properly clamp the photo device in a special socket so as not to damage it.

Connecting and setting up a monopod

Now you know what a selfie stick is and what types it can be. Now you need to assemble it and understand how to connect the monopod. Install the smartphone in a special slot, choosing correct sizes. Make sure that the mount does not scratch or damage the screen. Check that the smartphone is not loose in the mount; if necessary, tighten the clamps.

If your monopod doesn't have a button, set a timer and extend the tripod to the desired distance by extending it. If it has a button and a wire, insert it into the headphone jack. Usually the wire is attached to the selfie stick. Open the camera on your smartphone and take a photo by pressing the button. Sometimes the radio volume turns up instead of a photo. Go into the camera settings and change the volume there to the monopod button.

Be sure to pre-charge a selfie stick with a Bluetooth button for at least an hour. Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone and on the monopod, establish a connection between them, then set the required length of the tripod and press the button - the photo is ready!

Now you see that there is nothing complicated about how to connect a monopod, the rules are the same everywhere. Although sometimes each individual model may have its own nuances.

Why is the device not working?

The very first reason that a monopod does not work is an incorrectly selected device. Before purchasing, be sure to check with the seller whether it is suitable this model to your smartphone, and only then make a purchase.

The wire may be poorly inserted into the phone socket or into the wrong connector.

For some monopod models it is necessary to install special application, so check this detail before purchasing. When the sound constantly turns on instead of taking photos and even the settings in the phone’s camera don’t help, again, it’s probably necessary special program. But it’s better to change such a monopod. Your smartphone probably has an outdated operating system that does not support selfie stick functions.

In order to take good selfie pictures, it is not enough just to know what a monopod is and how to use it. Plus, if you want to be on trend, it's worth checking out the latest fashion trends in selfie photography. A photo of yourself requires some tricks to ensure that you do not look distorted, boring or banal.

If you want to take an interesting photo, let not only your face, but also part of your surroundings be included in the frame. To do this, you need to photograph yourself a little from above, so some of your clothes will be visible, and your face will appear thinner. Don't forget to smile, emotions are always a sign good photo, the most important thing is that they be sincere.

Taking photos in natural light is much better, the pictures turn out more natural, and the color rendition is close to the real thing. By the way, it is believed that the best lighting for photography is after 16.00: it is still light, but the sun is no longer blinding and there are no unnecessary shadows.

Just 10 years ago, no one had heard of a selfie stick. This creation came into our lives quite recently - as soon as smartphones acquired front cameras capable of taking cool photos. Using a selfie stick is very easy; it is a rather primitive device. You won't have to dig deep into the instructions. We will briefly talk about the basics of connecting and using the device.

What is a selfie stick for?

The term “selfie” (photo of oneself) has become entrenched in our vocabulary thanks to the English word “selfie,” which translates as “oneself.” The most accurate Russian analogue of the word “selfie” is “sebyashka”.

You can take simple pictures yourself at arm's length. This way other people will fit into the frame. But what if you need to capture a large panorama or a large group of people? For such cases, a monopod (selfie stick) is best suited, which is designed to extend your hand and allow the camera to increase its capture angle.

A selfie stick can be made of plastic, metal or a combination of materials. It works on the principle of a retractable mechanism (has a telescopic design). At one end of the device there is a convenient handle, and at the other there is a mechanism for fixing the phone. Sometimes, on more expensive models, you can find special mirrors that help you better choose a pose.

There are three types of selfie sticks:

  • with button;
  • wired monopod;
  • Selfie stick with Bluetooth.

Let's look at the features of each of them.

Simple tripod

This is the simplest and cheapest variety. It is a tripod with or a telescopic structure with a holder for a mobile phone at the end.

There are no special advantages in it, but there are quite a few disadvantages, for example, the following:

  • lack of a shutter button (you will have to secure the phone and set a timer);
  • weak clasp on an Android smartphone (there is a high chance that the mobile will fall out during sudden movements);
  • very fragile design.

The only huge advantage of a tripod is low cost. To take a photo, you will have to choose a suitable angle in advance, set a timer on your phone, stand in the right pose and wait for the photo to happen.

Using a selfie stick with a button on the handle

There is another type of selfie stick - with a button on the handle and a cord that must be plugged into the headphone port. The gadget may also come with a remote control. Just keep it close at all times; this accessory often gets lost quickly.

The advantages of the device include:

  • low cost;
  • the presence of two buttons (one for working with Android devices, the other is for synchronization with iOS);
  • ease of use.

Note that sticks with wires often do not last long because the cable breaks or becomes internally damaged.

How to use a selfie stick with Bluetooth

Bluetooth monopods are the highest quality, but their price is significantly higher than that of other classes of sticks. To connect your device to such an accessory, follow these steps.

  1. Activate the Bluetooth function on the monopod and on your smartphone (can be in the notification shade or in the system parameters).
  2. Place the phone in the special holder.
  3. Choose the appropriate angle for the photo.
  4. Press the button located on the handle.
  5. That's it, the photo is ready.

The wireless selfie stick helps you take amazing shots as it is very easy to use. Just be prepared that the device will not be cheap. In addition, the device needs to be charged from time to time. But using such a device is a real pleasure, and it is suitable for any situation, especially when you need to quickly take a photo.

Key settings

To use a selfie stick correctly, you sometimes have to reconfigure the camera control buttons if the shutter release doesn't work.

Relevant for some phone models next instruction, which will help you use a stick for “yourself”.

  1. Launch the camera on your smartphone.
  2. Open the tab with its parameters.
  3. Click on the volume button.

So reviews, we customize the shutter key. The camera will be able to synchronize and respond correctly to pressing a button on the monopod itself.

Third party software

If you can't adjust the shutter buttons, try using a third-party software, which is suitable for both Android and IOS.

Thanks to such tools, working with a selfie stick will become easier.

How to fix connection errors?

If the Bluetooth stick refuses to establish contact with the phone, check the connection on the devices. First, restart your smartphone and monopod. Turn on Bluetooth and try again to establish a connection between the gadgets. If it doesn't work, try connecting the selfie equipment to another mobile device to find out if the stick is broken. If the connection went well, on your main phone, clear the list of devices connected via Bluetooth and try again.

With corded sticks, there may be a problem due to mismatched pins on the plug. Occasionally this interferes with establishing a connection with Sony phones. In this case, you just need to buy an adapter.

We hope that you will not have any difficulties with the connection, and you will easily start using the selfie stick according to our instructions.

The monopod is not a new invention. But using it for personal photos from the front camera of a phone (selfie) was invented not so long ago. And if you’ve ever taken a photo with a front camera, you know how much easier and more convenient it is to choose the right angle with a selfie stick. But it turns out that even such a seemingly simple invention requires initial setup and minimal maintenance.

Which monopod should you choose?

A selfie stick is a simplified tripod for cameras. If only professional photographers use a tripod, then any smartphone user can handle a monopod. Mainly due to ease of use and relatively small dimensions. Moreover, these two factors are influenced by several distinctive qualities of the selfie stick. Let's take a closer look at them.

Connection method to smartphone

There are wired and wireless monopods. Moreover, this does not affect the price of the device, only the functionality. In the first case, a miniJack connector (headphone jack) is connected to the phone. The photo button is located directly on the monopod handle.

The second option works differently. The monopod connects to your phone using a Bluetooth connection. There may not be a photo key. In this case, the selfie stick comes with a remote control (sometimes with additional software). The advantage over a wired monopod is undoubtedly functionality. Using the remote control, you can change the focus, zoom, and filters of a photo while your phone is “hanging in the air.” But the wireless monopod and its remote control need to be constantly recharged (or the battery changed). The charge lasts for an average of one hundred shots.

Mounting type

Everything is simple here. The fastening must be as strong as possible, with a large number rubber inserts so that the smartphone does not slip out. Choose a monopod from which your phone will not fall out, even if you swing it sharply (of course, you should not conduct such experiments).

Use a rubber phone case to securely secure it in the selfie stick and protect it from impacts as much as possible.

Telescopic tube quality

The retractable tube, of course, must be as strong as possible. If it bends easily under the weight of the phone, there is a high chance of breakage. Therefore, check the strength of the tube before purchasing a monopod. Also, if you plan to take photos near water, make sure the monopod is stainless and waterproof.

The tube should unfold easily and keep its shape. In budget monopod models, the tube sections stop being secured over time, which makes the device completely unusable. To make the selfie stick last longer, many manufacturers add special grooves to each section of the telescopic tube that securely fix it.

Dimensions

Practice shows that if a monopod does not fit into a bag (or even a pocket), no one will use it for a long time. After all, who wants to carry around a long cane? Therefore, choose small selfie sticks that you can take with you anywhere: be it to the beach or for a walk in the park. But don't forget about the build quality.

Phone angles

The mounting head of a high-quality monopod rotates in two and sometimes even three axes. Selfie sticks with a ball head are less common (usually on professional tripods). When purchasing a device, make sure that the head turns easily, but maintains the desired position. It is desirable that it be made of metal.

How to connect and configure a monopod?

There is nothing complicated about connecting and pre-configuring a selfie stick, because it is made just for convenience and ease of use. Nevertheless initial setup must be done correctly to avoid possible problems with the operation of the device.

If you still have difficulties, go to the paragraph in the article “Possible problems in the operation of the monopod.”

First of all, install the SelfiShop Camera program on your phone (you can download it from GooglePlay or AppStore). This program allows you to optimally configure both wired and Bluetooth monopods. Let's look at the initial setup of SelfiShop.

In the program interface, find “Settings” and go to the “Selfie Stick Connection Assistant” section. A window with connection information will appear. Select the one you need and go to the corresponding paragraph of the article below.

Connecting and setting up a wired monopod or remote control

If you selected a wired monopod in the interface, connect it to your smartphone. SelfiShop will open the key settings window. Press all the keys on the monopod (or remote control) one by one.

Each button pressed will appear in the list. You can configure any action for a particular key. Simply click on the appropriate list item and choose what to do when clicked.

Please note that if you get the message "You have entered your PIN or password incorrectly" when you connect, then it is unusable (at least with your phone). This problem is extremely rare, but it makes sense to check the device before purchasing, since such an error can lead to malfunctions of the operating system.

Connecting and setting up a wireless monopod

To set up a wireless monopod using SelfiShop Camera, you first need to connect it to your smartphone as a Bluetooth device. Turn on the selfie stick and wait until the indicator diode blinks. After that, turn on the Bluetooth network and find your monopod in the list. It can be called differently, depending on the model:

  • Winnersun;
  • selftimer03;
  • Apple_Mler;
  • Yunteng;
  • kjstar;
  • ABShutter;
  • EDUP-3515 and others.
  • Click on the name to connect.

    If the connection is successful, the message “Connection Complete” will appear and the indicator diode will stop blinking. Go to SelfiShop. The monopod will be automatically detected.

    If you have any problems connecting your monopod, there may be a compatibility issue or a hardware problem.

    Possible problems in the operation of the monopod

    Despite the ease of use and setup, users often encounter some problems with the selfie stick. Most of them are easy to fix, so no need to panic. Let's try to figure out the most common troubles.

    The button doesn't work

    This is perhaps the most common problem. It is connected with the technical base of your smartphone. There is a great variety different models from different manufacturers. It is logical that monopod publishers cannot take them all into account, not to mention new devices that are released almost daily. The essence of the problem is that the phone incorrectly interprets the key press on the monopod. Moreover, it may be that one key works correctly, but the other does not. The SelfiShop program, already familiar to us, will help correct the situation.

  • If you haven't installed SelfiShop, do so and launch it.
  • Connect your monopod via wire or Bluetooth (as mentioned above).
  • In the settings, find the “Selfie Button Test” subsection.
  • Press a non-working button on the monopod and the program will show its code. Remember it.
  • Go to Settings and select Different Button Code.

    Instead of the default value, enter specified by the program key code and apply the changes.

    Now the key will work normally when SelfiShop is running.

    Doesn't take photos, but adds sound

    This problem also occurs frequently. Its cause is incorrect software synchronization of the camera with the monopod. The fix is easy.

  • Launch Camera on your phone.
  • Go to its “Settings”.
  • Look for the "Action when volume increases" section (or something similar).
  • Select Photo or Capture.
  • If this does not help, you should try downloading the Camera360 program. In its interface you will find the same settings that we indicated above for “Camera”. Reassign the volume key and the monopod will work.

    There is a photo signal, but the smartphone does not take photos

    This error in monopod operation is less common. In this case, the problem is more likely in the software component of the phone. Check if the phone takes photos without a selfie stick. If not, contact service center for smartphone repair.

    It may also be that the camera works fine without a monopod, but refuses to take photographs with it. To fix the error, try installing additional programs (for example, the same SelfiShop). If they didn’t help, it means your smartphone is not compatible with the monopod. Only replacing the first or second with another model will help.

    Therefore, always check the compatibility with your phone before purchasing a monopod.

    You can quickly check the compatibility of a wired selfie stick by connecting it to your phone. If the headphone icon appears on the top of the screen, then this selfie stick is not suitable for you.

    Video: How to check selfie stick compatibility?

    An elegant solution to all problems

    Any other problems in the operation of the monopod are associated with hardware incompatibility. The fact is that some smartphone manufacturers do not install a special trigger in their products - a device that is responsible for processing the signal from the keys of headphones or a monopod. In this case, alas, no monopod will work. More precisely, the monopod buttons will not work. But even from such a situation there is a way out!

    Main feature Selfie sticks - the ability to take photographs from distant angles. And for this you only need a telescopic tube. If the keys don't work, why use them at all?

    Delayed photography

    A photo shot timer is available on any standard camera. If the buttons on your monopod don't work, you can simply set a delay of a few seconds before taking a photo. Thus, neither buttons on the selfie stick nor any additional programs are needed.

    Using burst shooting

    There are different applications that allow you to take several photos in a row. For example, Lapse It. With this program, you can even set up automatic shooting at a certain time interval. Just make sure that the phone's memory is not filled to capacity.

    Download the program from GooglePlay (for Android) or AppStore and run it. In the window that opens, select “New capture”.

    Set the camera and resolution for shooting.

    Set the spacing between photos.

    After the photo shoot, you can delete unnecessary or unsuccessful photos.

    Voice commands

    On operating systems Android versions 4.0 and above, you can take photos using voice commands.

  • Run standard Google app Now.
  • Say "Turn camera on".
  • Say "Take a picture" or "Make a photo" to take a photo.
  • Popular applications for Android and iOS

    In addition to the SelfieShop Camera application - we’ve already talked enough about it - there are several equally popular programs for taking selfies that we can’t help but mention.

    Retrica

    Retrica is used not only with a monopod, but also for general photography. The main feature of this application, thanks to which millions fell in love with it, is the presence of more than a hundred filters. They can be installed directly on top of the camera, making each photo unusual and contrasting. In addition, Retrica has a powerful photo editor. If you like to take interesting and bright photos, this program is a must-install.

    B612

    Like Retrica, this application has the ability to install many filters and effects. In addition, the creators of B612 added a timer to the program’s functionality, the ability to shoot small videos with effects and directly publish captured photos to social networks.

    Camera FV-5

    Like SelfieShop, Camera FV-5 allows you to connect to any monopod. In the program interface, you can configure the selfie stick and set various shooting parameters, just like on a professional camera. Among the most interesting features:

  • Autofocus;
  • White balance adjustment;
  • Ability to set ISO;
  • Setting shutter speed, exposure;
  • Touch focus.
  • A monopod is a really interesting, albeit simple invention. Today there are many design options, so it can be difficult for the average user to decide when purchasing. Check the build quality, because in this case this is the main thing. The stronger and more reliable your monopod, the less chance the phone will fall out. You should not chase the cheapest, or vice versa - choose the most expensive.

    In recent years, the world has been overwhelmed by the desire to photograph itself. Such pictures are usually called the fashionable word “selfie”. Fans of crossbow guns can be seen almost everywhere. And if earlier it was possible only in front of a mirror or by asking a friend, now it is enough to use the second camera on your device.

    Selfies are taken by photographing not only themselves, but also entire companies.

    But it’s much more convenient to use a fashionable device, a monopod or, in common parlance, a selfie stick. You can use this device with any mobile device on all operating systems, including Android, iOS or Windows Phone. Let's look at how to connect a monopod and configure it to work with different mobile devices.

    How do selfie sticks work and what are they?

    A monopod is an oblong stick, at one end of which there is a mount for a smartphone, and at the other a button for taking photographs. There may be additional buttons on the device body, for example, zoom, focus, and activation of additional modes.

    Based on the type of connection, monopods come in two types: wired, when they are connected to the phone using a wire that is inserted into the headphone jack, and wireless, which are connected via Bluetooth. When choosing a selfie stick, make sure it is compatible with your device.

    Connecting a monopod

    Wired

    When connecting this type of selfie stick, connect one end to the corresponding connector on it, and the other to the headphone jack on your smartphone. If they are compatible, the headset icon will appear in the notification panel.

    Bluetooth

    To make a selfie stick work via Bluetooth, you need to pair it with your phone. To do this:

    1. Turn on the selfie stick and Bluetooth on your smartphone.
    2. On Android go to Settings - Wireless networks- Bluetooth, wait until available devices are scanned.
    3. We select our monopod and wait until the devices are connected to each other. The monopod is defined as a Bluetooth keyboard.

    Fixing problems with the selfie stick

    At first glance, everything is simple, but owners of brand new selfie sticks may encounter that the phone displays an incompatibility message or the buttons do not perform the actions expected of them. For example, instead of taking a picture, the volume increases or the zoom changes. Don't be afraid, you just need to properly configure the selfie stick to work with your Android device.

    Wired monopods

    The least capricious is a wired monopod. Usually all the buttons on it work as expected and are detected correctly. The only one possible problem- incorrect detection by phone. This may be due to a poor quality socket. Try changing the position of the plug in the socket. In addition, with a wired connection, the order of connecting the contacts in the stick plug and the phone connector may differ. In this case, you can look for an adapter.

    Wireless monopods

    The thing is that, being defined as a Bluetooth keyboard, the monopod sends a signal to the phone. Therefore, if you pressed the shutter button and increased the volume, then everything is correct. In the camera app, you need to set the volume keys to activate the shutter.

    Android

    Many manufacturers using on their devices operating system Android, equip standard application cameras with the ability to customize the volume buttons at your discretion. This is especially true for those who install a pure version of Android on their phones without a proprietary shell.

    To check if your camera has this feature, go to its settings in the main camera window. In the main settings tab there may be a “Volume Keys” section. You can set them to change volume, zoom, or take a photo. Select the latter, and then check the functionality of the tripod.

    If the standard camera application does not allow you to configure the volume buttons, then Play Store There are a sufficient number of applications that allow you to work with a selfie stick. Here are some of them:

    Camera FV-5. This is the most sophisticated program on Android in terms of settings. It feels like we are holding in our hands not a smartphone, but a professional camera. Go to Settings, under general settings There is an item “Volume key functions”. Select “Shutter/Focus” and check the selfie stick.

    SelfiShop Camera. This program takes . The default settings allow you to use any monopod button to take a photo. You can configure each button individually. To do this, launch the “Monopod Connection Assistant” in the program menu, press all the buttons on it one by one and save the settings.

    The Cellfie – the best option in terms of size and capabilities. It looks very elegant, all functions are displayed on the screen, so you don’t need to study the menu for a long time. Most monopods work well with it. You can also use it as the main Android camera.

    iOS

    Most iOS-enabled models will work without problems. If the definition is incorrect, use the BT Shutter program.

    Windows Phone

    How to connect a monopod to this system? Connect devices together, and the built-in Lumia app The camera synchronizes with the tripod without any problems. Unfortunately, others third party applications doesn't exist, but standard means quite enough.

    • The monopod does not connect to the smartphone. Try turning off Bluetooth and then turning it on again. There may have been a small glitch.
    • Please note that the tripod's battery is of low capacity and is unlikely to last more than an hour, so do not forget to turn it off.
    • To use the tripod on another device, disconnect it from the current one.
    • The wireless stick cannot be made to work on Android versions lower than 4.2.2.
    • As a last resort, you will have to root your phone and reassign it. But it’s easier to test the operation of a tripod when purchasing it.

    Conclusion

    Although from the outside people hanging a phone on a stick and taking pictures of themselves look quite funny, such a device significantly expands your boundaries and will add additional charm to your photos. Knowing how to connect a monopod will expand your army of selfie fans.

    It’s an amazing thing: the world and social networks have recently been conquered by the so-called selfie stick. In more correct technical language - monopod. And although previously monopods were used mainly as a lighter and more compact alternative to a tripod to keep the camera still, now an unexpected use has been found for it - for photographing oneself, or self in English.

    A selfie stick, in contrast to handheld shooting, provides a distance of one meter or more to the subject, which allows you to avoid perspective distortions in the photo and get a completely decent shot.

    How to use a selfie stick (monopod)?

    But in any business you need dexterity and skill. And when taking selfies, you also need to adhere to certain rules in order to get a high-quality and beautiful photo. Let's try to formulate these rules.

    First of all, let's figure out what types of selfie monopods there are:

    1. Simple - a holder without any remote control devices for the shooting process. To shoot, you need to set the camera timer and wait for the “bird.”
    2. With cable remote control. The phone fixed in the bracket is connected to the monopod via a 3.5 mm jack (the so-called mini Jack) and the shutter is released when you press the button on the handle of the holder. In smartphones based on Android OS, go to Settings / General settings / Volume key functions and check the box “Invert volume control keys” or something like that. May differ depending on OS version, but suitable for Samsung smartphones,LG, Meizu, Leagoo or Fly.
    3. With Bluetooth. The most technically advanced method, which, however, requires some preset your device. Remote control The phone's camera is accessed via Bluetooth. The release button is located either on the handle of the monopod or on the included remote control.
