Mobile phone Acer Liquid Z330 DualSim Black. Mobile phone Acer Liquid Z330 DualSim Black Which features do you use frequently

How long have you had this device?

I no longer have this device, which I'm glad about.

Do you use it until now? If not, why did you break up with him?

I do not use it, because this impossible to use.

How did you get this device? By what criteria was it chosen? Where and how much was bought?

The smartphone was bought in a hurry, as a temporary one, urgently before a business trip (where will I go without 2gis?) After the sale of one of the flagships. It was bought in the CSN for an immodest price tag of 6990 rubles. Now the price tag has dropped to 6800 rubles (well, just a mega discount!), but even for half the amount it is not worth buying. The criteria were as follows: Snapdragon chipset (any), tk. "snap" is most suitable for navigation - in terms of accuracy and speed of positioning; availability of LTE - you need a mobile access point for a laptop; the presence of a camera with autofocus - for shooting documents; the cheapest option with the above characteristics is still temporary, then you have to buy something else. Here I bought it.

What do you like? Strengths, virtues.

Of real strengths- This:
1. Very high quality oleophobic display coating (yes, just surprisingly!).
2. Fast operation of the navigation module.
3. LTE is and works fine.
4. Good autonomy (of course, with the 210th "snap").

What's not to like? Weak sides, flaws.

Everything else I don't like.

1. What is he-o-ormoz! - even typing often slows down, and switching between applications turns into torture - slowly, jerkily. The dialer slows down - from choosing a number to the call itself, a lot of time passes, and all with these twitches and brakes.

2. The dialer is wretched and inconvenient after the Samsung one.

3. Multi-touch is only two-point, and this is bad. Anticipating the reviews of those who disagree, they say, where do you need 10 points, if in normal use the smartphone is controlled by one or two fingers, I explain: the simultaneous operation of a large number of touch points is needed not to spread the fingers in Antutu Tester, but for greater accuracy of this very wheelbarrow. So, with the accuracy of the sensor, the Z330 has problems - it works out a little more complex movements than simply scrolling through the list of contacts. A simple example - scaling and rotating the map in 2gis - the reaction of the touch to these simple actions makes you want to introduce the Z330 to the nearest wall.

4. Camera. Acer's camera website says: "Take great pictures with the 5 MP main camera with autofocus. Use exposure settings to adjust focus and brightness. Switch to front camera 5 MP to make a high -quality selfie. "Do not believe any word! An incomprehensible post -cutting algorithm turns photos into soap and porridge, the camera itself is very slow - from focusing to preservation of the picture, and even in such a simple scenario as the shooting of documents, it is low, or suitable if you are a patient and absolutely undemanding person. names, but 5 megapixels!

5. Auto-brightness works abysmally, almost always keeping the display at a low backlight level even under quite normal lighting conditions.

6. Embedded free memory the new phone has a little more than 2 gigabytes out of 8 declared, and not all applications can be transferred to a memory card, so very quickly there was no more space for applications.

7. The system does not remember the default browser and asks each time which browser to use.

8. Acer update servers work very poorly, and a couple of small patches were not downloaded the first time. However, these patches did not solve any problems.

What do you miss in it?

Usability, speed. And the point is not so much in the weak stuffing - after all, the same Lumia 435 on the Snapdragon 200 works very quickly, but in optimizing the firmware, with which Acer did not bother. By the way, there are no firmware or flash driver on the manufacturer's website, but there are kernel sources! Well, go nuts now - this is probably a hint, they say, cut the firmware yourself as you want. "Saw, Shura, saw!" (With)

What features do you not use at all?

Has the device been repaired?

I didn’t have to repair it, but I managed to return this wonderful smartphone to the store. Yes, I tried to follow the path of a true geek - rooted the smartphone, put custom recovery, Xposed with different modules, set up something, spent time on all this fuss to solve at least some branded shortcomings of the smartphone, optimize it, move non-movable applications to the memory card in detours. And even something happened, for example, with the help of I don’t remember the name of which program, I almost managed to get auto-brightness to work normally. But patience is over, I returned to the place stock recovery, unrooted the smartphone, reset it to factory settings and handed it over to the store, carefully describing all its glitches and shortcomings.

A score for oleophobicity and a score for autonomy, total - 2 points. I do not recommend in any way.

Comment Blinks blue when charging is plugged in for 2 hours and does not turn on. What could be the reason?

Advantages Fits well in the hand, cool design, 2 SIM cards, support for LTE, Androin 5.1, good speakers.

Disadvantages Bad camera, weak battery, questionable quality // returned under warranty (poor quality product)

Comment In general, I had a positive attitude towards Acer products, but this phone can put an end to the purchases of equipment from this company, and in this review I will have shading not only for the phone itself, but also for Acer. In order. In November I bought a phone - in general I liked it, nice and light, fairly clear screen, 2 sim cards and of course support for high-speed 4G Internet. It was only the camera that upset me right away - the pictures are bad, although if you take a screenshot of the camera screen, they turn out better - a paradox. Then it turned out that the phone has a rather weak battery and it really quickly discharges. However, if you turn off lte and 3G, this will allow you to stretch the battery for a couple of hours. But if you have external battery at 6000mAh, then for example on a train you can charge your phone 3 times. However, the battery is replaceable and you can put a more capacious one, I even wanted to do it, but after a few months of use, the phone started to falter. First, the screen began to randomly change the brightness, the reboot helped for a while. Then the date began to be reset to January 1, 1970, which led to the idea that the battery in the board responsible for the time and date had run out. At the beginning of March, I took the phone to service center, describing the problem with the date. Today, on April 1st (just the irony of fate in the date), I had to pick up the phone, when I arrived at the SC they gave me a list of work performed, apparently the board was replaced - but here's the paradox, this did not solve the problem, the phone still reset the date and time when turning off or rebooting. I handed it over for repair again, again up to 45 days to wait. We returned the phone from repair - and the problem was revealed almost immediately. I took it to the store (May 31) where I bought it, they wanted to pick up the phone for a quality check, but then after trying everything possible options(resetting settings, firmware, etc.), as well as calling the SC where they repaired - they came to the conclusion that it makes no sense to wait - it is obvious that the problem will not go anywhere and issued a troubleshooting report. The cashier returned the money.

Pros Probably just the design. Well, it feels good in the hand. Protective glass well cleaned from prints. Availability of LTE.

Cons Battery is weak. At best, it will last for a day. And this is all during normal use with intermittent on. in-those. After installing all the necessary software from the market, it began to reboot spontaneously. At the same time, time and other settings are lost (ringtones for calls, alarm clocks and SMS). Because of this, I overslept for work. The native dialer is very clumsily made (In the photo of the incoming subscriber, there is a red call rejection button right in the center of the face - it's very beautiful, like a piglet's penny) In a word, "ACER keep it up"! Yes. Previously exploited acer e1 and e2 - very good devices

This device was first presented at IFA 2015, but it somehow got lost in the background of many smartphones shown by Acer at that time. And now the novelty has reached the Russian shelves.

Appearance, materials, controls, assembly

In 2015, the majority of Acer smartphones, give or take a common design: white or black body, rounded edges, silver edging, playing with back cover materials, and the Z330 is no exception. Of the eye-catching elements, I note only the round ear and external speakers, otherwise this is an ordinary smartphone, one of many.

Most of the front side is occupied by a 4.5-inch display, above it is a conversational speaker, a front camera peephole, a light indicator, as well as light and proximity sensors.

On top you can see the power button and 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Below is a microUSB port and a slot for removing the back cover.

And on the right side, a volume rocker was installed. She and the power button protrude strongly from the case, they are easy to feel, but the button travel seemed harsh to me.

On the back cover are the peephole of the main camera and the stereo speaker mesh. The latter has an excellent volume margin and sound quality, to be honest, I did not even expect. Its only drawback is slight wheezing when listening to music at maximum volume.

Cover material - smooth opaque plastic. Visually, it is very similar to those models in which the covers are stylized as fabric, but tactilely it is ordinary plastic with a textured pattern. I don't quite understand Acer's selectivity when using that cool "a la fabric" plastic, the material is good and unusual.

Hidden under the cover are slots for two SIM-cards of the microSIM format and a microSD memory card.

During the use of the device, I had no complaints about the assembly, the same back cover fastened on a large number of latches, so it does not play and does not creak.

Dimensions

Against the background of the majority modern smartphones Liquid Z330 can be called very compact, the point here, of course, is the screen diagonal of 4.5 inches. The device is comfortable to hold with one hand, although you can not reach all the elements on the display with your thumb.

A thickness of 9.6 mm may seem large to some, but in this price segment 10 mm is becoming the norm, you can look at the size chart.

Compared to Apple iPhone 6

Screen

Surprisingly good display for the budget model. To be honest, I did not even expect that an IPS-matrix would be used in such a device. It is, of course, relatively inexpensive, this is especially noticeable when evaluating viewing angles (the image fades strongly at an angle), but it is much better than TN matrices installed in budget models.

A pleasant surprise was the presence of an oleophobic coating, thanks to which the device is perceived in a completely different way.

Job automatic adjustment I didn’t like the brightness, it either greatly reduces the brightness, or it increases it too much. As for the brightness range, it is also average, I want to reduce the minimum even more, the maximum is not enough for bright sunny weather. But let's not forget that we have a device for 6,000 rubles, and for this money the display here is quite good.

operating system

Smartphone works under Android control 5.1 with a few additions from Acer, I already talked about them in the Liquid Z630 review.

Performance

Unlike some competitors, Acer decided to use a budget solution from Qualcomm in this model, rather than a chipset from Intel or MediaTek. On the one hand, Qualcomm guarantees us good GPS operation and support for LTE (although other chipsets have no problems with this now), but on the other hand, in terms of performance, it is quite weak.

The device lags a little even in everyday operations, the tables scroll with slight slowdowns, the browser also “stumbles” during operation, the same applies to third party applications. If we talk about games, then you should rely only on the support of the simplest "casual games".

Offline work

Battery capacity by today's standards is very average, but the device perfectly "lives" in everyday use mode ( Mobile Internet, browser, mail, social media, some music, the total screen activity is about two to three hours) one day. These are standard results, nothing special.

Camera

Interesting feature models - the presence of 5 MP not only the main, but also the front camera. To be honest, I don’t understand at all why such a camera is needed in a budget model, it would be better to save on it and install a more efficient chipset. Below is Roman Belykh's commentary on the quality of the shooting.

Optics Acer Z330 is quite simple, the aperture is only F2.8. The module is also not the best: if the picture looks normal during the day (although there is a lot of noise in the shadows), then in low light conditions the image turns into a mess, however, noise reduction does its best to correctly remove noise.

The front camera is more interesting. Here the aperture is F2.4. The difference is small, but it allows you to set lower ISO values, so the frames come out a little brighter and less noisy. Suitable for selfies without any problems.

The video device records in 720p resolution at 30 fps. Liked the quality, smooth. The only negative is that the exposure jumps.

Wireless interfaces

By wireless interfaces we have a standard set for a state employee, there is neither support for dual-band Wi-Fi, nor Bluetooth LE. On the other hand, I was pleased not only with the presence of slots for two SIM cards (which is already the norm for the budget segment), but also with the support of our LTE frequencies. Considering how "leaky" 3G coverage operators have, LTE is definitely a significant advantage of the model.

Conclusion

There are no complaints about the quality of speech transmission, you and your interlocutor hear each other perfectly.

When the device first appeared on sale, the press release said that it would be sold for 7,000 rubles, but now it can be found for 5,600 rubles. In my opinion, this is an adequate price for such characteristics. Among the advantages of the model, I will highlight a good display, oleophobic coating, support for LTE, 5 MP front camera. Cons - jamming in the interface.

Competitors

Lenovo A2010. Practically full copy Liquid Z330, but running on the MediaTek MT6735M chipset and having a TN-matrix instead of IPS, retails from 5,400 rubles.

Asus Zenfone C. Another “clone” in terms of performance characteristics, this time on an Intel chipset and without LTE support and with the same TN matrix, and even on Android 4.4. But it works much faster and has a very functional ZenUI shell.

Wileyfox Swift. If you have only 6,000 rubles on hand, and the proposed performance characteristics in the Z330 do not suit you, then I recommend paying attention to this device: HD resolution, IPS matrix, latest version CyanogenMod and 13 MP camera. The device has only one minus - you can order it only through the JD.com website and wait two weeks until it arrives.

Matrix type: IPS (In Plane Switching) is a high-quality liquid crystal matrix that was created to eliminate the main disadvantages of matrices based on TN technology. IPS-matrix in the entire spectrum most adequately reproduces colors at different angles of view, with the exception of some positions of colors. TN-matrix has, as it were, a rule best response than IPS, but not always. So, when transitioning from gray to gray, the IPS matrix behaves better. This matrix is also resistant to pressure. Touching the TN- or VA-matrix results in "thumping" or a certain reaction on the screen. An IPS matrix does not have a similar effect. In addition, ophthalmologists confirm that the IPS matrix is the most comfortable for the eyes. So *Ё *m*ow way, the IPS-matrix brings a bright and clear picture regardless of the angle of view, the best for working on the Internet, watching movies. But most importantly - for image processing and viewing photos. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) - Liquid crystal displays. The very first displays used in mobile devices, and not only in phones. Their main feature is that they have very low power consumption, due to the inability to display a color image. They do not emit light and therefore phones are upgraded with backlight lamps. Some phones had several different backlight colors based on the presence of different LEDs around the perimeter of the display. This extraordinary solution was used, for example, in the Ericsson A3618 phone. Pixels are clearly visible on this type of display, and such displays cannot boast of high resolution. In order to prolong the life of such displays, they made them inverted, i.e. text and symbols were displayed not as filled pixels, but, on the contrary, inactive against the background of filled ones. Thus, the light text on a dark background turned out. Currently, this type of display is used in the cheapest budget models (Nokia 1112) and as an external display in some flip phones (Samsung D830).

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) - Liquid crystal displays based on active matrix thin film transistors. For each pixel there are three transistors corresponding to three colors (RGB - red, green, blue). On this moment, these are the most common displays that have a number of advantages over other displays. They have a minimum response time and rapid development- constantly growing resolution and number of colors. These displays are most common in mid-range phones and above. Working resolutions for them: 128x160, 132x176, 176x208, 176x220, 240x320 and others less common. Examples: Nokia N73 (240x320, 262k colors), Sony Ericsson K750i (176x220, 262k colors), Samsung D900 (240x320, 262k colors). TFTs are very rarely used as external clamshell displays.

CSTN (Color Super Twisted Nematic) - Color liquid crystal displays with a passive matrix. Each pixel of such a display consists of three combined pixels, which correspond to three colors (RGB). Some time ago, almost all phones with color displays were based on this type. And now the lot of such displays is budget models. The main disadvantage of such displays is their slowness. The undoubted advantage of such displays is their cost, which is much lower than TFT. Based on simple logic, we can assume that in the future TFT will displace this type of display from the mobile device market. The evolution of the color of such displays is quite extensive: from 16 to 65536 colors. Examples: Motorola V177 (128x160, 65k colors), Sony Ericsson J100i (96x64, 65k colors), Nokia 2310 (96x68, 65k colors).

UFB (Ultra Fine and Bright) - Liquid crystal displays with increased brightness and contrast on a passive matrix. We can say that this is an intermediate option between CSTN and TFT. This type of display boasts more low power consumption compared to TFT. For the most part, such displays were used Samsung in mid-range phones. This type no displays received widespread. Examples: Samsung C100/110 (128x128, 65k colors).

TN is one type of TFT screen matrix. Roughly speaking, TN are the simplest and cheapest TFT matrices. The viewing angles are the narrowest.

Super Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode (Super AMOLED) is an improved technology for creating touchscreens based on AMOLED. Unlike its predecessors, the touch layer is glued to the screen itself, which allows you to get rid of the air layer in the gap between them.
