How to clear memory on Android bq. Freeing up built-in memory on Android. Applications to clear phone memory

The other day I encountered an age-old problem for most Android device users - how to clear system memory on Android. For example, on my Lenovo phone p780 its - 2 GB. I don’t remember how much was initially there for user needs, but after a year I finally ran out of it, only 80 MB left, and this despite the fact that I was removing a bunch of applications from the internal memory, and the free space did not increase in any way... On the Internet it’s just tons of information on this matter, everyone gives some advice, ranging from the banal - transfer applications to the SD card to cleaning system applications, but all this did not help me at all. Some even advise doing a general reset - but this is generally the most difficult case. And let's hold off on this for now. So I had to thoroughly understand everything myself and try it at my own peril and risk.

I would like to warn you right away that I in no way insist that everything written below is the ultimate truth. I just shared my experience, and whether to use it or not is only your choice and only you are responsible for all your actions.

First of all, I made myself a root for full access to the device memory and got down to business. Root access I got it using a computer program - Root Genius.

How to get ROOT rights to Android using Root Genius

Everything is very simple and clear - absolutely any user can understand it.

We use smartphones every day and over time, the internal memory runs out and it becomes impossible to record new files. In such situations, as well as as a preventive measure, it is necessary to clear the internal and RAM memory. This can be done using the capabilities of the smartphone OS itself, using special programs, or by connecting your mobile device to your computer. Let's look at the main ways to free up memory on Android.

When actively using a mobile phone, it is necessary to clear the internal memory from time to time. Even without recording new data on the smartphone, the place in internal storage clogged with application caches, browsers and other garbage. This results in the phone being unable to install new game from the play market or download your favorite movie to watch. Besides this, clogged memory may cause system slowdowns and glitches. So how do you clean it? internal memory? Let's look at the main methods, with and without a PC.

Saving files to a microSD card

Before you clear the free space of the internal storage on your tablet or smartphone, you must prevent it from loading further. To do this, you will need to set saving in the settings of the following applications created files to memory card:

  • Camera.
  • Dictaphone.
  • Internet browsers.
  • Various applications in which data is created, edited and saved.
  • Mobile messengers in which multimedia files are exchanged (Skype, Viber, etc.).
  • Downloaders of music, pictures, films, torrents.
  • GPS maps, navigators.

Now the created files will be automatically saved on the microSD card, thereby not filling up the internal memory of your phone.

Move to microSD card without PC

To move files without a computer, you will need Explorer installed - file manager. In some models of Android smartphones and tablets, it is installed as standard software, but in most cases it must be downloaded separately. One of the most functional and convenient file managers, which can be downloaded for free from the play market, is the ES Explorer utility. Its main advantage is the ability to select and set an action for several folders or files at once.

To move files in Explorer, you need to select them with a long press. Note that to select multiple documents you need to check the boxes next to their names. After selecting the files, you need to click on the “more” tab in the lower area of the screen, and in it select the “move to” item. Next, you need to select the path to the SD card, create or use a pre-created directory on it.

Moving from Android using a computer

In order to transfer files from the internal memory of your mobile phone to an SD card or any other external storage, use the computer. To do this you will need:

  • The Android smartphone or tablet itself.
  • Computer with Windows or Mac OS.
  • USB cable.
  • Your drivers mobile device and so on software installed on a PC.

After connecting your mobile phone to your computer, you need to select the “data transfer” connection mode. After this, the internal memory and SD card files will be displayed as a separate partition on the PC. They can be moved, deleted or copied just like any other files on your computer, freeing up space on your mobile phone’s internal storage.

If you are not comfortable connecting your phone to your PC all the time using USB cable, you can use free service AirDroid. It allows you to connect Android to your computer both remotely and while in the same wireless network Wi-Fi. In this case, the user also gets access to files stored in the internal memory of the mobile phone. All you need is free access to the Internet for both devices and any browser through which you can manage your phone files from your PC.
You can familiarize yourself with setting up the AirDroid service and its main capabilities in the video below.

Transferring apps to a microSD card

Probably many have noticed that applications and games on Android are mostly installed in the internal memory. To put them on a mircoSD card you may need root rights and access. After they are received, you need to install the Link2sd utility. With its help, you can also transfer pre-installed applications and games to the memory card. But it is worth noting that this may affect their operation, as well as the stability of the operating system as a whole.

Some apps and games can be transferred to microSD card and without administrator rights. To do this, you need to download the Android Assistant utility from the play market. It includes 18 tools for managing Android OS. After launching it, you need to go to the “Toolkit” tab, and in it select the “App2Sd” item. In the list of applications that opens, you can select several at once to move them to the map. This way, you can clear Android's internal memory without deleting files.

Deleting files and cleaning up junk

You can delete applications from your phone's storage directly from the settings menu. To do this, you need to select the appropriate item, and then go to the properties of the selected program. To delete other files, you will need a file manager. In it, you can open any directory in the internal memory of your mobile phone and delete documents manually.

Cleaning your phone of junk: Internet browser caches, applications, registry files is getting rid of unnecessary data. For this, special utilities are used, for example, Clean Master. The advantage of this program is its maximum simplicity and ease of use. To clean, simply click on the appropriate button in the menu. In this case, the utility will scan all memory for garbage and present the cleaning results on the screen.

Using cloud storage

And the last way to free up space in the internal storage of your mobile phone is to use cloud storage. With a stable Internet connection, you can safely store files on: Yandex disk, google drive, [email protected], etc. The advantages of this method include the ability to access information from different devices and reliability of file storage.

Freeing up RAM

RAM plays a vital role in the multitasking of a smartphone or tablet, the ability to open several Internet browser pages at once, etc. Background processes, installation of programs, as well as additional widgets load RAM. As a result, even the most advanced smartphone models are faced with a lack of RAM and reboot. Let's look at several ways to clear RAM that will help your phone work more efficiently.

Using OS features

Most manufacturers supply their phones special utility, which allows you to clear the RAM. It can be called differently, but most often: clean or purification. Just click on it and the utility will automatically unload from RAM unnecessary programs and widgets.

Via Application Manager

Used RAM

For this method you will need to enter the menu system settings mobile phone Next, go to the “applications” item and select “working”. This tab displays information about which programs and processes are open and running in at the moment, as well as how much RAM they consume. Before closing them all, you need to see what can be removed from the list background processes so that the system does not crash. In most cases, desktop services, various launchers, etc. don't touch it.

Using special utilities

The simplest and reliable way cleaning RAM- this is the use of special utilities. We have already discussed one of these above, this application - Clean master. By launching it, you can choose not only to clear the internal memory, but also the RAM. To do this, click on the corresponding icon on the main screen, and then click on the “Accelerate” item. In this case, information about the amount of freed RAM will be displayed.

If the message “phone internal memory is full” appears on your device, then you need to clear the ROM memory. A full memory not only limits the ability to receive files, install and update applications, but also slows down the operation of the smartphone as a whole. To fix this problem, follow a few simple “tricks” - this will allow you to clear the memory yourself at any time.

Some users are perplexed about the memory being full, because... nothing is specifically saved to the device, and the memory still fills up quickly. This happens because absolutely all received files (not just recorded and downloaded) are saved in ROM memory, as a result, it can fill up very quickly and the phone starts to slow down.

Files are saved to internal memory in the following cases:

  • When you create any content - photo, video, audio recording.
  • When you receive any files in any messengers and social networks(Viber, Skype, WhatsApp, etc.).
  • When you receive files via bluetooth, Wi-Fi.

Helpful tip: use of cloud storage and external memory allows you to significantly “unload” the internal memory.

Clearing the internal memory of the phone

Before you start clearing your memory, you should prevent it from becoming littered in the future. To do this, you need to specify saving all files to a memory card (and not to ROM) in the settings of all tools:

  • Camera;
  • All messengers;
  • Dictaphone;
  • Navigators and GPS maps;
  • Graphic and text editors;
  • Browser Loader;
  • Programs for downloading files (photos, videos, music).

Most applications require you to specify a save path - to do this, create a folder on the memory card and specify its location. Now all received files will be saved in this folder on the card without clogging up the internal memory.

How to free up space

After the folders for the transferred files have been created on the memory card of the Android device, you can begin the actual transfer. At the same time, you need to understand that the space on the memory card is also not endless, and you should move only those files that you need and that you know.

Important: don't try to move system files, this may lead to system failures. If a file is in doubt, it is better not to touch it.

There are 2 main options for moving files:

  • By connecting to a computer via a USB cable.
  • Directly on the Android device itself.

The choice of transfer option depends on the availability of “available means”, as well as the type and volume of emails being moved.

Deleting other files

To clear the memory you need to delete unnecessary files from the following folders:

  • DCIM;
  • Video (as a rule, they take up the most space);
  • Download;
  • Sounds;
  • Bluetooth;
  • Music;
  • Movies;

Some applications are automatically created on the device own folders– they also need to be checked and, if necessary, cleaned (these could be loaders, messengers, maps, editors, etc.).

Moving Files Using a PC

The Android device is connected to a computer with via USB cable - now you get access to the internal memory and card directly from your PC. This is convenient because it is easier and faster to view files on a computer in order to decide whether to move or delete them.

Installation of additional drivers, as a rule, is not required; the computer automatically finds the connected device and opens access to it.

When you connect a smartphone/tablet in storage mode (MTP), the computer displays two portable devices – the phone’s memory and the SD card. Actually, all manipulations will be carried out between these devices. For this purpose they are used standard features"Cut" and "Paste".

Important: Please note that with this method of moving files there is a non-zero risk of catching a virus. First of all, this applies to untested PCs and cables that are not “native”. Therefore, if you are concerned about the security of your existing devices, it is better to clear the internal memory directly from the Android device itself.

It is also possible to remotely and intranet connect a smartphone/tablet to a computer using special services.

At remote control You get access to files stored on the internal memory on your PC - this is done using any browser. To do this, you just need both devices (phone and PC) to be online, and you can continue to use them for their intended purpose.

Moving files without a computer

To move files from internal memory to the card, a file manager is used in the Android device itself. It may be installed by default, or you can download your preferred file manager in advance (there are several free options).

The file manager allows you to select and set actions for several files or folders at the same time. This is done like this:

  • Select selected files/folders on your Android device with a long press;
  • Click the “More” button, which is located in the lower right corner;
  • Select the “Move to” function;
  • Select “sdcard” and specify the path to move (pre-created folder).

Moving applications to the memory card of an Android device

Applications take up most of the memory, and constantly deleting and installing them is very inconvenient. Most applications are automatically installed in the internal memory.

If you have already learned how to move files from the internal android memory smartphone/tablet to the card, you may be “tempted” to do the same with applications, so that at the right time you can simply “get” them from the memory card and not download them again.

Applications on Android devices can also be moved from the internal memory to the card, but there are certain restrictions that should be taken into account.

First of all, you need to obtain administrator rights (root) - for this you need to install special software. Please note that tampering with settings at this level will automatically void the device's warranty. Therefore, if you have doubts, it is better to leave everything as is, so as not to “ruin” the device with inept actions.

How to get root rights?

Most convenient waycustom recovery. Before changing settings, make sure that your smartphone is at least 50% charged and that you have a working, safe USB cable at hand.

The PC must have drivers, as well as special software designed to work with the firmware of Samsung devices.

  • In the settings, disable “Remote control”;
  • In the developer options, enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking.
  • Then we reboot the phone and go to the recovery menu.
  • We connect the device to the PC and launch the software for working with the firmware.

If you are confident in your abilities and are ready for possible consequences, after receiving administrator rights you need to install special application to transfer applications from internal memory to the card. Now you can move not only downloaded, but also pre-installed applications to the card (but this must be done very carefully so as not to damage the system).

Clearing system memory

For cleaning system memory Administrator rights are also required, as well as an understanding of which applications can be deleted and which cannot. Also, in addition to root rights, a file explorer is required.

If you have all this, you can start cleaning:

  • Open File Explorer with root rights;
  • Go to the /system/app folder
  • Select the application.apk, as well as the .odex file with the same name
  • Select “Delete” from the menu
  • Go to /data/app and remove updates for remote applications
  • Go to /data/data and delete the data of these applications

Cleaning the device from debris

Periodic cleaning of debris allows you to preserve high speed device operation and quickly monitor the memory level. Garbage refers to the cache of visited pages on the Internet, the remains of files and applications after deletion, etc.

Some pieces of debris are almost impossible to detect with the naked eye, and in general, cleaning everything by hand is time-consuming and ineffective. There is special software specifically for removing debris - as a rule, it weighs very little and makes it possible to clean the device at any time. This should be done regularly, several times a week/month, depending on your Internet activity.

This specialized application cleans the cache and remnants of deleted files/applications on its own, and then offers to perform advanced cleaning. At this stage, unnecessary files must be selected and deleted manually. This combined approach to “keeping your device clean” allows you to quickly get rid of junk without risking important files.

Until now, many budget devices are equipped with a small amount of internal memory. As a rule, this is 8 GB, but there are devices on which no more than 4 GB are allocated. Accordingly, they have very little space left for installing applications, videos, music and photos. What can be done in this case?

Transferring applications to a memory card or deleting them

If applications are installed in the device's memory, it is advisable to transfer them to a memory card. Here's how you can do it. To get started, go to your device's settings (Settings app).

We are looking for it third party applications. For example, in our case it is the game Cut the Rope. Click on the application icon.

Once in the settings, click “Move to SD card” (in our case, “Go to SD card”, which is basically the same thing).

The game will be transferred to the memory card. This may take some time depending on the size of the application.

If you do not use the application, then delete it by clicking on the button of the same name.

Transfer video, audio, photos

In many cases free space take up video or audio recordings, and often a huge number of photographs. There are two ways to transfer these files: using File Explorer or using a computer. In the second case, connect the device to the computer using a USB cable and transfer files from the internal memory to the memory card manually.

For the first case, you will need a file manager, for example, ES Explorer. Launch the application, find the folder with the file, click on it and copy.

That's it, she was moved.

Clean your device of outdated and unnecessary data

To do this, you can use various applications, and some devices have proprietary cleaning utilities. We will use the SD Maid application, which has proven itself to be excellent. Download it from, install and run. Click on the “Garbage” button and wait for the system to collect all the data.

Then click "Clear" to clear the data.

In our case, the volume of garbage is very small. Sometimes, however, garbage can accumulate over several gigabytes of memory. That's right.

By the way, unnecessary files can be stored in cloud storage. Many cloud storage are completely free, so you can use this service to store, say, unnecessary photos.

On many Android devices Very little internal memory. Still available for sale budget smartphones and tablets with 4 gigabytes of internal memory, of which, at best, 3 gigabytes are available to the user, the rest is occupied by Android itself.

Naturally, working with such an Android device is not very convenient. After all, you will constantly need to install applications and perform other tasks. In this article we will talk about how to clear internal memory on Android and at least partially solve this problem.

Step No. 1. Transfer applications to a memory card.

The best way to start cleaning internal memory on Android is with. This procedure can be performed on any Android device with operating system version 2.2 or higher. To do this, you need to open the settings and go to the “Application Manager” or simply “Applications” section.

After this, you will see a list of all installed applications. Find the application that is taking up a lot of space on your internal memory and open it.

After this, a window with the properties of the selected application will open. Here you need to click on the “To SD memory card” button.

After clicking this button operating system Android will automatically transfer the application you select from the internal memory to the memory card. This will free up some free space in the internal memory.

It should be noted that transferring an application is not always possible. If the transfer button is missing or inactive, it means this application not transferable. In this case, you need to find another application that can be transferred to a memory card.

You can also do it here if you no longer use it. To do this, click on the “Delete” button instead of the “To memory card” button.

Step #2: Remove junk using the SD maid app.

The application allows you to analyze the internal memory and SD card and find junk files, which remained after deleting old applications.

In order to remove garbage, launch this application and click on the “Update” button opposite the “Trash” item.

After this, the application will analyze the internal memory and SD card. After the analysis is completed, information about the number of files found and their size will appear in the “Trash” section. In my case, the program found 14 files totaling 874 megabytes (see screenshot below). In order to delete these files, you need to click on the “Cleanup” button, which is located at the bottom of the screen.

Step #3: Transfer user files from internal memory to MicroSD card.

The next stage of cleaning the internal memory is transferring user data. For this you will need a good file manager. For example you can use . Launch this file manager and go to the “Device” (internal memory) section.

After that, examine the folders that are there. If you find your files (photos, music, videos, documents), then transfer them to the memory card. This can be done using the same file manager.

Particular attention should be removed to such folders as: Bluetooth, DCIM, Documents, Download, Movies, Music, Pictures, Sounds. As a rule, many files accumulate in these folders that can be easily transferred to a memory card.
